New to MN so we are trying out new spots regularly. This place is at the top of my favorites. We visited 4/10/15 around 7pm. First off, the place is smaller but lovely inside. Very welcoming. The bartender was great, as was our waitress. The wait wasn't long for a Friday night for two (maybe 10 minutes) so we didn't get to sit at the bar long enough to do anything but taste our beers, since we were seated so quickly. They had live music, which is awesome. Piano player & singer/songwriter Bjorn Briel who was quite good and entertaining. We were able to put in our appetizer order right away, we ordered the cheese curds which were fabulous! The portion size was crazy. Two of us ate until full and still brought some home. It did take a while for the waitress to come take our meal order, but she was very nice and friendly and we weren't really in a rush so we didn't mind. She was also very helpful with food suggestions. Overall, love it. Great first impression and will definitely be back again! 4 stars just due to the slower service.

Thurs here: Date Night. No wonder, we have LIVE music, Mark Stary was here! I ordered Portofino Pasta, spinach, garlic, Parmesan cheese, bread sticks, salad. I told her, Italian dressing ON THE SIDE. On her way over to our table, the dressing spilt on my salad, and drowned most of the salad on the bottom. I didn't eat the rest because of that. Otherwise, it was good. The pasta was also good. But my bread stick? It was white, and tasted like flour. It was the 1st time in my life, I have to send the bread back, to add more color and more crispy on the outside. It took forever! Husband ordered BLT & a cup of French Onion soup. She brought instead Cream of Wild Rice Soup. He said he likes it. So did I, but he didn't tell her, she gave him the wrong soup! She didn't give us our silverwares! The area where we were sitting, I couldn't see the entertainer, it was right in front of a large wooden column, I asked to move elsewhere in the middle, in front of the fireplace. We moved everything, from the 1st table, to the 2nd table. The 2nd table, the floor was already dirty, and the servers keep passing by a plastic round small lid on the floor and not one of them (including the bus boys) bother to pick it up. The bathroom, I was told, was nice & clean!

We have been to this place once under every name and ownership! We partook in the recent groupon and visited on tues evening to give it another try .... Service was good. Food wasn't awful but wasn't anything I'd run back for. My husband and I shared 3 apps to try a variety: steak bites - decent roasted chicken dip- very bland and strange "dip" had huge pcs of chicken spinach and artichoke dip- Applebee's, plain, pretty uneventful and flavorless. I ordered the chicken nuggets for our boys, not very kid friendly nuggets.

We decided to stop in on Saturday (3/21/15) at 5 pm after deciding not to wait for an hour for a seat at Maynard's. We were seated right away (at table 101) next to a very loud group of people just standing around in the aisle messing with the video games. Thankfully they left after about 15 minutes. Our designated server Maria apparently was on some sort of a break and we spent our first 20 minutes after being seated just waiting. After 20 minutes, I turned around and started staring at the other servers when they passed by using my "So how much longer are you going to make us just sit here?" look. One server took pity on us and took our drink orders (which took another 15 minutes to arrive). At about 35 minutes after arriving our drinks showed up and our server Maria made it back from her break. She was pleasant enough once she was back on the job. The drinks and food were good - with the exception of the carrot cake which was disappointingly cold and was decorated with frosting that looked left over from Valentine's Day. The big problem with our dining experience was that everything (both drinks and food) took a long time to arrive - and I do mean a long time! Our whole dining experience took over two hours, the delays being explained because of a lack of staff in the kitchen. Had we been served in a more timely fashion, we would have received our second drinks on Happy Hour pricing but because evrything took so long... our second drinks arrived after 6 pm so we were charged the full price. :-/ I am not sure we will be back - they will probably have to have a good groupon deal for us to consider doing that. Perhaps the owner should take a few clues away from neighboring Maynards? Just a thought for her. +++ Epilogue In fairness to the owner, our second to last visit merits a three star rating. We were seated and served quickly and had good service and dining - highlighted by the owner herself overhearing us comment about our "over done, dried and cold" nachos and personally getting involved and fixing the situation by having much better, fresh and hot nachos brought out to us quickly! *** The bottom line for the Fireside: Have an actively engaged restaurant manager on duty to babysit at all times!

This place is so homey and such a great addition to Rogers! They have a wonderful menu, we ordered the burger and a salad. They also have a really cool decor inside with a fireplace. Definitely a great spot to just chill and grab some food or drink. Worth checking out!

Mark Stary was amazing for live entertainment. The only bummer is the manager told him to stop playing. My girlfriends food came out cold. Ours was hot. I can't say that the service was a 10, more like a 6. The waitress was way over worked, but very kind.

Went in for date night. They had a fantastic special; salad first, then steak, shrimp, w/ asparagus, and rice. Cheesecake for desert. It also came w/ a bottle of wine. All for $35. It was the best meal I have had in a long time. Awesome place!

We went for the Sunday omelet bar and Bloody Mary bar. It was fabulous. We had a nice time. Fun making your own Bloody Mary. Omelet was really good and you get to pick from a wide range of ingredients. Price was really reasonable. Recommend you give it a try.
