Cute decor. It's clean, neat, and pretty cute inside Food was not great. The waitress wasn't outright rude, but her demeanor was not professional. The waitress seemed like she was trying. But there were clues right up front. It was a cool and rainy/crummy day and the window was wide open right behind our table. There was a little cold/wet breeze and we had already been outside in that junk. I wanted to warm up with a hot meal. I asked if we could close it. I got a small huff as she marched over the window and closed one of them. She commented as she walked by, "I'll close one of them for now." Food: Asked for an appetizer of Nachos. I think we all know what we have in mind when we think Nachos. And, it was listed in the Appetizers section. My only special request (if you can call it that) was no black olives. Food came out about 15-20 minutes later and appetizer at the same time. That's kind of a pet peeve of mine. Apps should come out first - they are appetizers. Anyway... the "Nachos" were a huge bowl filled with iceberg lettuce (mostly the white stuff), tomatoes cut into huge 3/4" - 1" cubes (not very appetizing or practical for nachos) and then covered with Doritos and a few scoops of gray/brown ground beef. How is that nachos? I asked the waitress (politely) if maybe we accidentally received a taco salad? She slapped her hands on her thighs in exasperation and said "That's how we do it here" and walked away. Hmmm. The three of us (two kids and I) each had burgers. My "California" burger had another slab or two of iceberg lettuce that was mostly the white stuff again and another huge tomato slice. I mean, I've never seen a California burger tomato sliced like this. I was easily 3/4" thick. I just installed pine boards in my house that were thinner than this! The onion slice was almost as thick and solid. It was the diameter and thickness of a marble drink coaster. Between the onion and the tomato, they were more than twice thicker than the dang burger. Gross! I didn't even want to mention it, but I removed the onion and tomato and quietly asked the waitress if I could have a thinner slice of tomato. I got another two handed thigh slap and a big sigh - no acknowledgment or agreement. She just slapped her legs again and walked off to the kitchen. She came back with two little tomato slices about 2" in diameter that a 4th level master sushi chef with a brand new set of Ginsu knives couldn't pull off. I could have read the paper through these things they were so thin. I didn't even comment. In short, service was poor. But that can be chalked up to a bad day or a rough waitress. I get that. That's not always enough to warrant a low review without another visit. But with the food quality (and the serving or Doritos in any form resembling nachos or taco salad) is unforgivable. Oh... and I opted for to sub onion rings for my fries on the $8.59 cali burger. I don't mind paying the up-charge, but I wasn't expecting $5.75 for the 6 or 7 run-of-the- mill onion rings I received (that were barely even warm). I should have tried the Pizza. It looked pretty good on one of the neighboring tables. I would skip this place.
