Giovanni's used to have a takeout location in St. Cloud which I frequented about once a week as a teenager so just the smell of this pizza brings with it instant nostalgia for me. I think that most people might say that the pizza is "average" but there is something about their zippy sauce and cracker thin crust that keeps me coming back for more. I can't say that I would recommend someone drive out of the way for this place but I would choose it over Pizza Hut, Dominos, or any of the other national chains 10 times out of 10. I have always opted for delivery or carry out, but I have been meaning to try out the buffet that they offer at this location as it seems like a great value.
LOVE the pizza buffet. The hand tossed pizza crust is perfection. Great bang for the buck!
Best pizza in 20 miles of Pequot lakes, but mainly because its the only place around! I would rate this place higher, but they really don't do anything special, and the service is poor. I ordered a couple of times from Giovanni's and found the hand tossed crust to be dense and on the rubbery side. I think they need to rethink the recipe, and maybe give their crust more rise tim!!!! The toppings and sauce are ok but nothing to phenomenal, the cheese seems more like the increasingly popular "cheese product" used at many places. I also ordered a side salad hoping to have some fresh veggies, sadly there was hardly any vegetable diversity. The embarrassment of a salad consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, and too much cheese. Im not sure why they don't use some of the other veggies they have on hand? In addition to those issues the forgot to add the banana peppers to my pizza, and gave me french dressing when I asked for ranch. If you order delivery from Giovanni's you never know what you'll get!!!!

Really, good comfort food however our experience was bad! We had a large group with several children. The restaurant chose to seat a group of 8 really loud, crude, inconsiderate and drunk men next to us. Normally, I'd say "bad luck" and not the restaurants fault - but not this time. The group included the owner's (Jackie) son! These guys were so loud we could not hear anyone at our table talk and their conversation was really inappropriate for a family. It seemed like all they talked about was partying, the great "brown acid" they used to take, the blue (Viagra) and yellow pills they all took now and their resulting sex. Kind of difficult to explain this to your eight year old daughter on the way home!! They were so loud it was impossible to ignore them. At one point the owner stopped by to ask if we were bothered by them but it was so loud I couldn't really hear her! Really? Why not just do something about it?? Send these guys to the strip bar - and ask them to come back another day for dinner! $300 to sit next to this for two hours (the owners son and his buddies!) - not to mention an owner and staff who apparently didn't feel any need to take control and do something about it - was disappointing! Bad choice. Not again! P.S. The food is good ( not to be confused with healthy), the service was just OK. Way to overpriced through. You can get better food m, atmosphere and service for a lot less!
We've been here twice- 11 years ago, and yesterday. The first time, we thought it was overpriced and meh. Last night, the food was great, and just a little expensive. The ambiance is the best in the area. We had the sunfish (yummy!) and fried shrimp (big and delicious). The wine flights, both red and white, were great. The only downside was waaaay more kids than what I would have expected at a place like this (including a very ill behaved toddler who threw things and yelled the entire time) and kind of slow service. I can definitely see us going back again for a special night, but we will be requesting seating away from kids.
Brought my wife to the "ridge" and all was awesome ! It is a bit expensive but it keeps to the special occasion type atmosphere!

We are always looking for something new to try.. And we're glad we found this up north restaurant. Amazing french toast, smoked sausage, blueberry pancakes, fresh eggs, and loved the hash browns (no weird aftertaste). Pies looked amazing. Fast, courteous, attentive service. Wish we had discovered it earlier in our stay so we could try more items on their large, interesting menu
Breakfast service was SLOW. The restaurant wasn't even full. It took the waitress 10 mins to come back and take our order, and then the food took 35 minutes to arrive. My meal included 2 eggs, any style. I ordered them poached, and they came out mostly hard boiled. Then, after I paid, I noticed that they charged me an extra 25 cents to poach my included eggs. WTF? Paper towel dispenser in bathroom was empty, so the kids and I both had to wipe our hands on our pants. There was urine all over the floor under the urinal running towards the drain, which we had to expertly avoid so as not to track it into the car. We will not return.
1 word: pies! Wide selection of pies - good value considering their size and quality. Blueberry pancakes were excellent. I've been driving past this restaurant on the way to vacation in the Hackensack area for years. Stopped here for breakfast recently only because the car needed gas and APine was next to the gas station. Will definitely be making this a regular stop in the future!

Family brought me there for Fathers' Day. It was chosen because they support youth hockey with their pull-tabs. Decor was pretty busy with artificial flowers, vines and an assortment of sports and liquor signs. Not too full and service was prompt, polite and pretty knowledgable. We ordered the half rack of baby back ribs, beef brisket special and pulled pork sandwich. They smoke well almost too heavy but good flavor. Ribs weren't real tender, but good enough. Beef brisket was fork-cutting tender and with two sides had value. Soup was good and potato au gratin was really good. BBQ sauce was a bit sweet but helped tone down the smoke. Prices are sturdy for what you get. Specials get a little value. I'd return..
The baby back ribs were just so so and they were not completely warmed through. Famous au gratins we terrible. Locally, Bar Harbor under the previous owner had the best au gratins I've ever had. Served with the meal was cut green beans, that obviously came out of a can. On top of the poor food, it was over priced. The only good part of the meal was the great service.
Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere! I had the walleye sandwich and it was delicious! I know that their signature is their timber jack stack burger, which I will try when I come back

Dirty and uninviting. The only time I see it busy is during Thursday night meat raffle time, and those always bring out Minnesota's finest. Bad service during lunch. Soggy chicken sandwich and undercooked cold fries. It's a no for me.
Good place for burgers, wraps, and a cold beer. Nothing spectacular but not meh. Solid.
Stopped in for lunch and a few beers after finding out our resort kitchen was closed. Sports bar atmosphere, super friendly staff and our wrap sandwiches hit the spot. Would go back for sure next time we visit Nisswa.

I was in Northern MN over the Christmas holidays and had the pleasure of stopping into Luckys for a beer. Bartender told me it was the coldest tap beer in town and man was he right!! I ended up back at Luckys for dinner that night and had the pulled pork with their homemade barbeque sauce. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had. I bought some of the homemade rolls to bring back to my hotel for breakfast the next morning and those were awesome as well. I would recommend this place to anyone in the Pequot Lakes Area. Five Stars!!
Stopped in here for lunch. Not that busy and the service was HORRIBLE! An hour for burger and fries, we ended up taking them to go. Then the manager/owner response, when we finally just went up and asked for our check? When he found out how long, "whoa, we've had a lot of to go orders." Yea, whoa is right, prices are high, burgers were burned, service was slow. I don't recommend.
This place is AWESOME! Great service, drinks and beer. I would highly recommend going here!

Commander Restaurant & Bar

My review is based mostly on food, as we didn't eat in. Their commander burger was HUGE and everything I want in a burger! My gf ordered a personal pizza & turkey club. She liked it all. Their house made chips were good, not greasy at all. When I went in, it was pretty empty since it was noon so I got to admire the gorgeous wood bar. The bartender told me restaurant had been remodeled a few years ago. She was friendly and my food didn't take too long. I'm sad for the helpers who had bad experiences, fortunately we did not!!
I am a local that has been in to have breakfast since they started serving it recently. First couple of experiences were not bad, service was slow but it was new so we expected a few hiccups. But yesterday was a whole different situation. We got there at 10am, most tables were already eating, we did not order a complicated meal, with lots of special requests. it took over an hour for our breakfast and when it did arrive my husband's hash browns were cold and I had the server stand there while I cut into my eggs. I ordered over hard and these were very obviously over easy. I took a piece of bacon and she tool the order back. I got my eggs back over hard with what I considered raw bacon, it was barely cooked. Upon looking at the bill I noticed I was charged for an OJ that I never ordered. There was a table of 10 that came in and were told that it would be a 45 minute wait for food, that was crazy being every table in there had received their food (3-4 tables). Our waitress looked our way several times and made eye contact with us but never came over and it took another 10 minutes to get our bill. I hope Neal get's a better cook or adds a cook or breakfast isn't going to last long. If he would have been there I would have expressed this to him personally.
Nasty pizza!!!!! They wouldn't know how to make a pizza if it hit them!!!! Totally gross!!!! Rude service too!!!
