I'm not big on fast food, especially hamburgers, but I like this place. I stopped at the Culver's near St Cloud and loved it. I had their signature custard ice cream and a swiss and mushroom burger and fries. It was all so delicous the next day I went with my sister and a friend for custard. I think that the burgers are almost as good as In N Out and the custard ice cream is delicous (although most likely not so nutrious.) I told it was fabulous and was not disappointed.

From the pastel quarry tile entry, to the honey oak woodwork throughout, to the signature blue and white checker tile accents, to the ubiquitous commercial grade carpet of shades of blue with pale pink dot pattern, the decor is how I imagine the interiors of every Wisconsin home from Green Bay to La Crosse. It's not a diss--just my take. I stopped in for my first Culver's meal in over 10 years (2nd trip ever, first in MG) for a late lunch as I was getting the oil changed in my truck across the street at MG Firestone. I never seem to want to take the extra turn or two to get here when I'm jonesin' for fast food, as this location is just like every other Culver's location I've seen in that it has a "one off the main drag" secondary spot, whereas the prime corners (aka the catbird seats) are usually occupied by the McD's and BK's of the fastfoodosphere. Sitting tucked behind a Holiday gas station and across the parking lot from Menard's, the amount of brainless vehicular traffic makes me avoid the most likely spot where one would turn in to come here. When I go to Menard's, I come in from the entrance furthest from Culver's so then it is 'all the way across the parking lot' if I'm feeling fast foody, which is far more daunting than it seems. But I digress... The ladies at the counter greeted me in a pleasant manner and I asked for a moment to ponder my choices. Feeling overwhelmed by the sheer size and scope of the menu board, I punted and opted for a single butter burger with cheese and crinkle fries, as I recall from my previous trip that the fries were a highlight. I took my place in the dining room at the single seater (see photos) and my food was delivered within a few minutes. The fries were hot and fresh and needed a minute to cool. I unwrapped my burger and though it was kinda different, kinda neat that the onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard were all placed on the bottom of the burger--it really helped keep it all together better than the traditional 'everything on top' method. The burger had great flavor, but I wish I had doubled up the patties since they are on the thin side. The fries were as I remembered them; DELICIOUS. Fried crispy to a beautiful shade of golden splendor, they are upper echelon fast food taters. I shall certainly return for a crack at the cheese curds and some of the other sandwiches, not to mention a few frozen custard concoctions. All in all, a good experience for a shade over $5.

Bad review for this visit. On entering the restaurant I was not only not greeted but waited at the counter for so long that I almost left. More strangely was watching one employee play with his cell phone just a few feet away from me with his head down completely ignoring me while two other employees just feet away from me are chitchatting. I was virtually invisible to the degree that I took my camera out and took a picture of the sleepwalkers. When I was helped I got no smiles no thank you's and was left standing at the counter without my beverage and without a number to return to my table until I asked for it.. I would've walked alright then but I had already paid. On delivery of my meal two of four items were missing. Poor management.

I never thought that I'd come across another burger that would be equally as delight as those served at In-n-Out. Little did I know, such burgers do exist! On my second trip to Minnesota this past winter, I had the lovely encounter of consuming something quite so delicious. Culver's Butter Burger w/ Cheese with a side of cheese curds. Oh man. I'm not sure what the burger is grilled with and am in denial that this may be the seemingly blatant, yet sinful ingredient of blissful butter, but the burger's slight crispiness on the outside paired with the yummy tender meat innards makes for quite a wonderful combination. Get a side of the Mid-west's famous cheese curds, which are batter, fried cheese chunks and BAM. Amazingness in a meal. Don't forget to grab a cup of their homemade custard ice cream. DQ has an equally amazing competitor right here! Oh and did I mention that the service here is SUPER friendly?! I almost felt like I was at chik Fil A. I LOVE CULVER's!!!!

I like my women just like I like my burgers... fast and buttery. My son gave big ups to the ice cream Sunday (he gets about a pound of M&Ms on it). The old ball and chain is down with the chicken finger baskets and shakes. Good food and service... not a bad place to put on a couple of pounds.

ButterBurgers are the undisputed champion of the burgerdrome. I used to live in MN, and now I live in CA. Everyone in CA buzzes about In-and-Out. They are pretty good burgers, but there is nothing NOTHING like a ButterBurger. Or the fries or onion rings or chicken tenders or custard or...... Get a ButterBurger and think of all of us poor souls who have to go all the way to Phoenix to get one.

Not that great and over priced. You can get a better burger at Wendys or Burger King and have enough money left over to see a movie.
