This place has the best breakfast in town. Fresh baked bread. It's worth waking up early to grab a bite.
Solid basic breakfast fare in the hidden corner of New Brighton. They are hiding in plain sight in an office building next to the new Post Office. Careful attention to the limited signage guided me to the right place. They serve a variety of the breakfast standards. Sausage and Biscuits for my wife. Italian Hash for me. The S&B has a great taste without too much salt. (next time) The Italian hash was good with a slightly sweet taste. Italian sausage, hash browns, onions, and red pepper. The eggs were actually over medium (kudos - I almost never get them just the way I want them). The wheat bread seemed to be made in house (or locally). Thick and chewey - not the same old same old. The dining room is great for larger groups. We saw two groups of 10+ when we were there.
Nice little place..excellent French toast (Dans style) and outstanding service. Glad I found it..Thx Yelp.

Ate here with family a couple of weeks ago. It was outstanding! They smoke all of their own meats, create their desserts in-house, and the service was excellent too! All 5 of us had great meals.
Kimchi tacos were great. Pleasantly surprised with brisket sandwich. It was apparently cooked over 15 hours. Very tender. We would definitely come here again.
Excellent food, good wine, pleasing atmosphere. Had the chorizo and clams starter for a meal, and it was perfect. Wonderful house made chorizo was not too spicy, nothing overcooked. Just wish it had come with more bread:)

There is a dichotomy to Mirage Bar and Grill. On one hand, I really liked the food. We started with spring rolls. These were great. They remind me of the ones I used to get at Lien Son. I had a beef Pho. I am a Pho noob. I enjoyed it. There were a lot of different flavors and it was spicy to my linking. My wife had an Egg Noodle soup. More of a bowl of food with broth on the side. She really enjoyed these. On the other hand, the place is a bit worn. The hostess was in the back when we arrived and appeared to be running the place herself. Lack of attention to detail wasn't due to sloth or indifference. Yet there it was. I hope they can get over whatever challenges they are having as otherwise we enjoyed ourselves.
This our go to neighborhood pho restaurant and for it being in the middle of New Brighton, it's fantastic! It's Surprisingly authentic and very consistent. Yes, it's a hole in the wall, but the food more then makes up for it. So be patient because they literally only have 2-3 employees, and you'll be rewarded with Viet food that is just as good as the pho served on eat street in Minneapolis. Don't forget to try the Vietnamese grilled pork Sandwiches, they make the bread themselves! In fact, I am going to split a sandwich with my wife and have some bun Bo hue..BTW- I am Vietnamese and come from a family of restaurateurs..my mom use to own Pho Shop on university avenue..
The pho and banh mi sandwiches here are the bomb. It tops many of the restaurants here in the twin cities if not the best and it just opened up about two years ago! The price of their best pho which is the combination is very cheap compared to other pho restaurants such as iPho, and Viet Noodles. I come here at least once a month. I used to come here every week until I realized I spent too much money on pho because It's just that good! The lady owner is also very nice and sweet. This place used to look more run down but she had it remodeled very well especially the back area of the building where the dance floor and stage used to be. Plus It's still continuing to be remodeled! The lady is a successful business owner with the restaurant. She knows what she is doing while serving great food! Something that can be worked on is that sometimes she forgets customers if they come to a table of people late. The pho is also just all one sizes unless you ask for extras which isn't bad unless you prefer smaller portions. Other than that this place is the best in the twin cities!

This is one of my few stalwart places to eat and drink in the twin cities. Food is above average and the chipotle pizza is awesome. In the summertime, their patio is one of my favorite places in minneapolis. Only downside is their tiny but that is also part of the charm.
This place was pretty good. It had a nice patio and it is right by my house, so we might be back. I don't drink beer-so I can't comment on that, but I had a great glass of wine, good service, and an enjoyable lunch with a friend. We shared a small order of waffle fries, and they were hot and great, and they give you a ton for three bucks. I got the half sandwich and soup special, with beef soup full of chunks of meat and veggies and an egg salad sandwich. Egg salad can be tricky, because I don't like celery and forgot to ask about that-so it wasn't my favorite. The bread was soft though-and instead of getting a "half" sandwich, it was served on a little roll. Overall, it was OK. The service was great-which was nice. There's lots of other places to try, so I'm not sure if I'll be back soon. We were there around three, and it was pretty empty. I heard it gets crowded later on.
This place is AWESOME!!! I grew up just a few miles from here and when my parents divorced my dad moved within walking distance of this place and for years I watched this property go from a A&W to some run down asian food place...it almost seemed like no one could make anything work there, till one day. I'm not much of a drinker but I did sample a few of their beers, and I have to say some of the best tasting beer I've ever tasted!!! But regardless of the great beer which seems why a lot of people go there...I'm here to review their food!!! The grilled pizza, AWESOME! Me and my girlfriend split a pizza and a burger. I wouldn't have thought it, but the Barley John's Burger is going on my "Best Burgers" list at number two (Can't beat the nook) it was awesome!!! Its just your typical burger and fries, no out of the ordinary toppings on it, but WOW it tasted like they cooked it on a charcoal grill and not some nasty gas grill. The pizza was awesome too, we ordered the "Pizza H" which consists of spinach, artichoke hearts, and goat cheese cooked on a grill. I tend to like softer and thicker pizzas, where this was a thin and crispy one, but I tell ya it was the best thin and crispy I've ever had!!! I highly recommend getting a pizza or a burger, what beats pizza/burger and a beer? Also, the waiter staff was awesome, very knowledgeable about the beer, food, and they never missed a step. Great place for a date!!!

We've been here twice in two days, which says something. It's a cute little place off of Silver Lake and 694 in New Brighton. Inside, it's really cool, with dark brown shiny wood, and an actual coffee bar. I had a great vanilla latte and Tim got a freshly squeezed lemonade. We shared an apple fritter and sat outside in the sun. Bru House makes Caribou a distant memory...
Good coffee and nice staff - free WiFi with password.
Place is awesome. Owners are very nice. I fixed their cable once and I stopped in and they gave me a free coffee. Best cold press around. The breakfast sandwiches are tasty too.

I went the first time last week and I have to say I just loved this little place. The atmosphere is just great and I had the special which was Like Ravioli only it looked like wrapped presents stuffed with Sausage and cheeses and spices. It was to die for..and so good with the Cabernet. I plan on going back again to try their Pizza.the service was superb and the bread basket was great. I have never been to a place that there was such a variety of different breads for the basket, which was awesome. i recommend anyone to go there and give it a try.
My parents have been taking me here since I was young. I've never had a bad experience. Last time I was there I got a tortellini with Alfredo/pesto and it was to die for!
In North Minneapolis on business and had a craving for some Italian food... Found this place after searching on Yelp! Rolled into a pretty non-descript strip mall and found Guiseppe's. They have a pretty good lunch menu (most pastas and sandwiches under $10). I opted for a chicken parm lunch special, which came with salad and one of their signature breadbasket a for $12.95. I thought the salad was good (they make their own homemade dressings). The bread basket would have been great if they'd make the bread the day of/before (I think it was from last week... Pretty much a bunch of varieties of white bread, and a poor rendition of an Italian loaf of bread). The chicken parm was great and came with a side of spaghetti. Both were covered with a sauce that if I didn't know better was Prego. Regardless, food was filling, service super friendly and I can now say I had lunch with Frank Sinatra (Best Of playing in background!) Here's the rundown: Satisfied? Yes Return? Yes Advocate? Yes

When we showed up this place, it seemed like the entire family was hanging out behind the counter and everyone greeted us when we walked in, and the owner/chef (I think?) talked our ear off as we tried to decide what to order. It was completely adorable. We ordered the Tiger Chicken on his recommendation, an order of Sesame Chicken, and cream cheese wontons. The sesame chicken was decent - it wasn't like most sesame chicken I've had; it was really saucy and the sauce had a kick to it, but it was still tasty. The cream cheese wontons were good, but nothing special. However, the Tiger Chicken was AMAZING. Smoky and garlicky with a hint of a spice I can't put my finger on. The white rice was cooked perfectly (that's usually something I could care less about but it was so good that I thought it was worth commenting on). We'll definitely be going back.
If this is the #1 rated Chinese food in the Fridley area we're all in big trouble. This may be the worse Chinese food I've had in 10 years. Beef and broccoli was super thick with this weird sauce and the peppered chicken had no taste. Disappointing to say the least.
I don't want to know what's in it, but the lemon chicken and orange chicken are delicious and cheap. That's about all I expect from takeout Chinese, so four stars. My wife also likes the tiger chicken, but I'm less convinced.

Yum! I lahk-it-alat! The chicken chimmichanga was delicious.Cooked with green chiles! And my husbands tamale was one of the best Ive tried, really moist with losts of shredded pork. Wish one of the locations were closer to SLP.
Really good food wait time impeccable I mean I ordered to go and I waited literally about 7mins great staff with nice personalities I would definitely go back
Have eaten here before and had OK meals, but tonight, it seemed nothing was right. We arrived and the chips tasted burnt, the waitress didn't come for twenty minutes, when we asked if we could get different chips she said lots have been complaining about the chips but that was all the chips they had available, our drink order was wrong, and I ordered the steak fajita burrito and was given the chicken one instead. Add to that the belligerent patrons smoking right outside the entrance (Acapulco has placed ashtrays there even though it is illegal to let people smoke outside entrances.) Not a good night. Maybe they just had an off night, but it seemed like way too many things were going wrong.

Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

696 W County Rd D
New Brighton, 55112
Reviews:
Perkins is always a convenient, inexpensive, kid friendly place to take the family when you don't want to cook yourself. Food is decent if you stick to the tried and true, esp. breakfast. It may seem overly generous to give Perkins 4 stars, but I'm not rating it for the food. I'm rating based on having two young boys and sometimes not wanting to cook. Kids eat free on Saturday and they often have face painters and people making balloon animals. I'm also giving this place 4 stars because when I first moved to the area, this place was horrible. Slow service, improperly heated food, ... Just ick. I refused to go back. Then one day I saw that it was closed for renovations. After it reopened, I decided to give it another chance. I don't know if it has new owners, new management, or what, but they have really turned it around. The staff are polite, service is much better, the renovations make it look a lot better, and I have not had any problems with food being poorly prepared. So it may be silly to review Perkins, but some of us need an affordable place we can be comfortable bringing well behaved kids (but still kids, not perfect). Good to have Perkins a short drive away when you would rather throw a pan at your spouse than make dinner. Lastly, if you are still reading this: tip your wait staff based in what the meal would have cost without the free kids meals. I hate to state the obvious, but apparently a lot of people don't get that they are still doing the same amount of work for a free meal. Also, family friendly doesn't mean letting your kids run around or screaming at the top of their lungs. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. :-)
Regular Perkins experience--mediocre. Yes, I'm reviewing a Perkins! I'll review a Perkins...or whatever. I went there for breakfast. I've been to this Perkins many, many times over the years. Usually, it's meeting a friend for breakfast, late at night. The service was very good. The good was okay, about what you'd expect. I don't think I'd eat at a Perkins these days for lunch or dinner. But I'd definitely do breakfast. I was most impressed by our server. She had a name tag that listed service since 1998. Wow!!! And she was still cheery and Johnny-on-the-spot, despite the fact that she had a HUGE table with about a dozen super old dudes, most of whom could not hear very well...funny. They were also dressed quite snazzy and dapper for a Perkins. Sometimes, watching the people is more fun than the food. -Daddy Maxx Retro
In the recent struggle by Perkins to change their brand to be a broader selection of items and not just a pancake/muffins/pie restaurant (read: Denny's wannabe), this location makes a huge mistake in messing with the full proof, All-American, unbeatable and simply divine entree of comfort food: the roast turkey sandwich. You know what you're gonna get with this, and it's why you order this entree. White bread slices covered with mashed potatoes, turkey breast slices, the whole pile smothered in a puddle of light gravy - salt and all. Ooohhhh no, not at Perkins any longer. I was mortified to get the plate with a circle of mashed potatoes sitting in the center with some turkey meat on top and a drizzle (yes, just a DRIZZLE) of gravy on that circular food in the middle. And get this -- the bread was white buttered toast slices sitting next to the barely gravied meat and potatoes! Asked for more gravy (after bemoaning this wrongful presentation of hot turkey sandwich) and the server brought a small plastic cup with some more. Nowhere near puddle-producing. Alas, I mentioned I owe it to my fellow Midwesterners to show what this chain thinks is progress but is, instead, a sacrilege against a traditional comfort-good entree. Told the server I was going to post a photo. Not her fault - the field of "marketing" has changed the face and plate of a lot of traditional culture. The roast turkey or beef sandwiches should be left alone. Ye shall know this monstrous mistake by the toast slices surrounding the turkey splash. For the record - this location knows me, I've eaten here for years. The constant menu changing nowadays is not going to do it, folks. PS: the spinach/mushroom/tomato omelette is fantastic.
