I recently went to jakes with my two daughters. i had a walleye sandwich that my waitress recommended. I liked it! I would go back there again. my daughter had honey barbecue wings and she had said that they were great. My waitress was very friendly and the restaurant it self was very clean and nice looking. I had a great time at jakes but the food was pretty basic.

All the food I've had here has been good. My favorite however is the prime rib. It's served after 5pm and it's absolutely delicious. Especially with the mash potatoes and Au Jus dipping sauce. I also enjoy the beef filet and their Jake wings which are fantastic. The staff is great and I always get good service whenever me and my friends come. Will definitely continue to come back!

My husband and I stopped in at Jake's this past weekend on a whim before we ran errands at the mall. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was Applebee's prices but much better in taste, appearance, and quality. My reuben had great meat, awesome bread, not soggy sauerkraut, and aside from being stacked a little off kilter, was practically perfect. The fries were awesome as well. Portions are pretty generous and I didn't finish everything which was not for lack of liking it. We sat in the bar so that hubby could watch the football games on the multitude of TVs scattered throughout. I'll be back if the occasion presents itself!

I went in on a day when we were hit with snow. Plenty of seats to be had. When I was greeted, the hostess was very kind and sat us near the wood-burning stove. The server was attentive until my other guest arrived. Everything was prompt, from refills on my coffee, ordering, and clearing the table. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and I thought it was great. The shoe-string fries (at least skinnier fries) were perfect. When I was done eating, I did not just feel "heavy." Enough parking was available and pricing was not too bad. My sandwich was about $12.

It's more like a 2.5. I wouldn't do it again. I was out having a friendship day. Cheesy, I know. My friend and I took the day off. We had brunch at my place to start, then we saw a movie, then mani-pedi's, and we wanted to end our day with AYCE crab legs. We found out Jakes by my house offered them on Tuesdays, it worked out perfect. We got there at about 5:50pm. Our server brought us waters and asked if we wanted drinks, we said not yet. We knew happy hour ended at 6pm, so we decided quickly then flagged her down. It was about 2 minutes to 6pm exactly. I know it's close, but we asked if we could sneak in HH drinks. She said she'd try but didn't think we could. She came back a second later and said no. I thought that was pretty damn stupid, but ordered a drink anyway. My boyfriend joined us for dinner and we all ordered the AYCE crabs, I believe it was $39.95, or something like that. It came with soup or salad, and a potato side. I went with a salad, and au gratin potatoes. The salad wasn't anything special, neither were the potatoes. I barely touched those. The crab legs were previously frozen. First batch was over cooked, so was the second. I think I had one order that was cooked perfectly. I wasn't too impressed but kept eating so I could feel like I got my money's worth. For me and my boyfriend and a few drinks we had a $150 bill. Pretty high for some random Tuesday night, and it wasn't even great. Service was good, sort of, but I won't be back. The place has mediocre food, and it's overpriced.

The food was great and so was the service. I ordered the beef tacos and I like how the tortillas were fried and crunchy.

Nice place to go for Apps I wish they wouldn't of gotten rid of the Shredded Pork Quesada or raised their prices on all the Apps. They used to be a good bargain, but not any more. We quit going because of that. I still love the Szechwan Green beans though.

So came to Jakes on a whim. The staff was watching the ball game when I walked in so that was disappointing as the manager stopped by and apologized. Next the bartender Andy who was also waiting on my table walked up and to say he was weird was an Understatement. The soup some kind of seafood chowder was really good. Then I had the Pad Thai which was also really good. I have to say that my experience was strange but the food was good

It was suggested we come to Jake's for All you can Eat Crab Leg's night. Personally not a fan of crab legs but was traveling with a group so we checked it out. Beer selection was decent for a bar in the shopping district of suburbia St Paul. I had the Prime Rib which was a decent alternative for the Crab Legs. My cohorts were satisfied with the Crab Legs but fell short of eating the amount expected before they became tired of the flavor, of crab.

I'm a huge fan of Jakes. They are able to accommodate big groups, have a great patio and the Jakes wings are always fabulous.

We love this place! We are new to the area and have been trying out a variety of restaurants since April. We keep coming back to Jake's! The people are amazing, the service is fantastic and the food is great. They have a great selection and the food is prepared perfectly and the ingredients always seem fresh. Brittany and Sean in the bar area are wonderful. In fact every other person we have talked to has been friendly and helpful. The prices are within reasonable range and many items are big enough to split. Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I were nearby for a library event, so we decided to do a late lunch at Jake's. We told our server, Peggy, we were first-timers, and she walked us through the menu and gave us good tips. Both our soups were better than we expected. My wife loved the Shrimp and Sausage Chowder. I liked the chili, especially given that it was multi-meat: prime rib, ground beef and pulled pork. We split an entree, Garlic Lemon Chicken Kabobs, and substituted extra vegetables for the dirty rice. This dish was as delicious as its menu description. All in all, a great lunch.

We tried Jake's at Maplewood Mall yesterday for their Sunday brunch. Best omelet I've ever had!! Why the 3 stars?? Whoever heard of a Sunday brunch without a dessert table!

I had my first experience at Jake's last night, and it was an absolute delight. Full disclosure: I didn't get more than a cursory glance at the menu, because I noticed immediately that they had an all-you-can-eat snow crab legs special. Done. And damn... I have never eaten that much crab in my entire life. My hands got so tired of cracking crab legs that I lost all ability to extract an intact piece of meat, and I spent the next three hours in an honest-to-goodness crab coma. But it was so worth it. The special was $32.95, which is a little pricey for me normally, but this was definitely a wonderful treat for a special occasion. It came with my choice of side, and I selected the gouda hash browns. WOW. Cheesy, smoky, crispy goodness. I also had a cup of their sausage and shrimp chowder, which may be one of the best bowls of soup I've ever had in a Twin Cities restaurant. It had the perfect amount of spice, and a bit of a salty, earthy tang. (It's always good when your seafood soup tastes a bit like the ocean.) I washed it all down with a glass of Moscato, which was only $3 during happy hour. Unfortunately, my menial paper-pushing occupation cannot support a regular all-you-can-eat crab habit. But the atmosphere of this place was so warm, the staff was so friendly and efficient, and the regular menu items seem to be very reasonably priced. It's definitely a great alternative to many of the national chains in the area; I'm certain we'll be back before long.

This one of my families favorites. We dine here a lot. Way above average pub food in a very clean and pleasant atmosphere. Sit in the bar area for best people watching. Bar's actually not too noisy. Sunday brunch is a killer, graze on the Mahi-Mahi and peel & eat shrimp or order the smoked turkey on sourdough off the menu. Service always prompt & pleasant. Perfect place to meet a group of friends or family for a decent meal.

I had it a couple years ago and wanted to bring the girlfriend to a nice dinner last night! She got the ribs and I got the enchilada... Her ribs where hard and dry on the outside and chewy in the center. But green beans the really good! The enchilada I got I should have known better cause it wasn't a Mexican restaurant! Well needless to say my girlfriend broke up with me and said I blew it and we are over... So guys, don't pick this one!

Non happy hour - happy hour. $5 domestic beer ($1 off) and small, less than a pint. $1 off select apps. Doesn't seem happy where $ matters, many better choices. 2-4-1s abound.

We met a friend at Jake's last night for a late dinner. I checked out the menu on the way there, and there were quite a few items I was interested in. It could've just been my hunger talking, but everything sounded good. I decided to get one of the wood fire pizzas (the Hawaiian) with a caesar salad. The salad was ok--a little heavy on dressing, and the greens had a slight bitter taste to them. The salad was huge though! As for the pizza, it wasn't anything spectacular--it was a 12" thin crust pizza, light on all the toppings, including cheese. It was only $11, but I could get so much more for my money at Papa Johns! The flavor was ok, but honestly I expected a little more. If I'm ever in the area, I may consider Jake's again--I would be willing to try something else on the menu (perhaps the lobster tacos or prime rib dip). I just won't be going out of my way to visit here. On a side note, I did notice what someone else mentioned: the bartenders do remember their customer's names from their I.D. I didn't order any drinks, but there was a guy sitting a few seats down from us, and when the bartender kept using his name, it made it seem like he was just a regular lush. Even though I knew that's what they do, I realized how easily it might be misinterpreted.

We love Jake's! Food is always good, they have a huge menu which must be daunting for their kitchen staff but we have never had an issue with the meals being great and consistent. Love their brunch! Those rolls ... unreal! Our service there is always great - I can't remember his name but the bartender who sometimes helps manage the place as well is truly a hospitality professional. My husband and I have worked and managed restaurants and we would recommend him to anyone! Thanks Jake's, keep up the good work!

My buddy and I were out to see Chickenfoot at the Myth and were looking for some chow around the venue and Jake's stood out as a popular place. We entered the bar and the bar took up about half the restaurant, which was pretty cool. They had about 15 beers on tap and lots of TVs We sat down in the restaurant area and had a great waitress. We ordered a couple of Diet Cokes and I got the Buffalo Chicken sandwich. My buddy ordered some kind of sandwich that looked pretty good too. The buffalo chicken sandwich was dripping in sauce, which I love, because most places just put a ladle full on there. Big plus! Also, they had some good slathering of blue cheese and a bunch of pickles. The fries were like shoestring potatoes, but they had lots of good spices on there. I really liked this place. Great TV areas, awesome looking bar, great service, huge menu, and good food equals happy. Plus good company made for an awesome night for dinner.

I now have a new standard for lobster taco's. Ok, so I'm not sure if I've ever had lobster taco's before this but the bar has been set very high. They had awesome lobster texture and good taste. Presented very nice with rice and beans. They hooked us up with a booth upon our request. The service was prompt and pleasant. As always they have a great selection of beer on tap. Good size specialty drink menu. Was here in a group of 4 and everybody thought their food was really good. Their french fries were a step up from normal expectations. I have been here in the past and not been 5 star impressed, but the last couple times they've really stepped it up. Currently, this would be my first choice for restaurants on this restaurant populated strip.

Food is OK, servings are large. Has the feel it can't decide whether its a sports bar or fine dinning. Menu is a little pricey.

Location really is everything. I guess because my friend came straight from work and was still wearing a sportscoat, and because the bar was PACKED with rowdy Vikings fans come to celebrate their presumed win over the Saints two days early (remember those heady days full of possibility?), he got seated (he got there before me) in the family section. On the one hand, I guess that was a good thing, because we could at least hear each other speak. On the other, I think our waitress had every intention of getting us home by 8:30. She was very pleasant, initially. Our food was good, for a suburban sports bar--better than say, Applebee's (though I still prefer *their* bbq sauce). Atkins fan Tom got the Bourbon Shrimp, but swapped out the mashed potatoes for more veggies. It looked delish, and little was left behind but little shrimp tails. I opted for the Angus Burger, as I love burgers with hard cider, which they have, but sadly, Crispins, not Woodpecker. The burger was good, as were the fries, and half of each were ample. But back to location. We were in for a long night of gabbing and drinking--with Tom it goes in that order, but plenty of both. Yet after our meals were through, even though we both still had drinks and had made no hint of leaving, our waitress brought our check and set the book prominently upright between us, actually blocking our view of each other slightly. I promptly set the book down, out of the way. When she came back expecting payment, we instead ordered more drinks. This little drama repeated itself over and over through the night. Annoying. We checked around; there were empty tables, so we weren't getting the bum's rush for turnover's sake. Were the huge tables full of birthday revelers really preferable to two quiet, really very easy diners? Was our waitress a teetotaler? Did she sense that we weren't actually married to each other and worry that there was more to this "date" than met the eye? Maybe she couldn't stand the utter fabulousness that emanates from myself and Tom at every moment of every day. What I do know is that it would've been more fun in the bar, with the Vikings fans, where you can't hear much, and all things are possible.

Been to Jake's a few times - they have a something for everyone menu, which somehow talked me into getting the pad thai. I had a craving once I noticed it. Anyway that wasn't very good as you might expect from a grill, but I took a chance. They should focus there menu on a few items they do well instead of the something for everyone approach. Food there is medium, beer list is medium, prices are high. Service is good.

Went here about 4 times and I got the Cajun fettichini Alfredo each time. I was pleasantly surprised with the dish the first time and now I'm hooked. Had a waitress Christine twice, wonderful and prompt. I love the Chandon Champagne in the miniature bottles, bubbly every time. For dessert I always have the banana cream pie, and had the cream brûlée once, but didn't care for it too much. Definitely want to try crab legs Tuesdays. Can't wait! And I hear the brunch is worth trying too.

Went there for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. The buffet was hit or miss, but their coffee is great. Even a new batch of poached eggs in the Eggs Benedict were already too close to hard poached instead of soft and runny, but the flavor was good. Too many of the cocktail shrimp still had full shells on, and were difficult to peel. The cheesy hash browns were salty. In short, the buffet is slightly better than OCB. But, again, their coffee was great.

Very very very typical joint for bar food and steak. Steak is ok. I can make better. Food quality is good and taste is good! A slight bit better than Denny's or Perkins. Poor customer service. Especially if you are using groupon. The manager, however is a nice and wonderful lady.

Food was ok. Called on our way there and were able to put our name on the list. We arrived 10 minutes later, 7:15 on a Saturday night and were seated right away. We had the chicken enchilada, garlic burger and a bowl of broccoli cheese soup. The soup was good, a little salty. The garlic burger didn't have very much garlic flavor. The chicken enchilada wasn't that flavorful without mixing it with the rice, black beans, pico and salsa that came with it. Our server took one plate away when finished, then he went on break... After being done with our meals for about 15 minutes we went up to the bar to ask the bartender to ask for our tab as the bar wasn't very busy. She stated that she had taken over our table and "was just about to come over". Then turned around to help someone else. At this point our server returned from his break and tabbed us out. I've been there once before a couple of summers ago and enjoyed their nice patio. However, I doubt we'll be back any time soon for the mediocre food and service.

I have been frequenting Jakes since they opened, as it is very close to where I work. I have always enjoyed it. The lighting & decor provide a warm, calm glow, perfect for an intimate dinner, or a night out w/ the girls. This establishment has always employed great staff, with the bartenders remembering your name & what you like & entertaining you along the way. The game is alway on, but not as rowdy as your local sports bar. Full bar w/ a pretty decent selection of cocktails, wine, & beer. As far as food goes: they have a late night happy hour w/ specials on drinks & appetizers. Jakes wings = chicken wings tossed in a sweet & spicy sauce, served w/ celery & bleu cheese = yummy! Buffalo chicken sandwich = grilled chicken breast smothered in buffalo sauce, topped w/ cheese, cucumbers, & served w/ bleu cheese or ranch. Pepperoni pizza rolls = think cinnamon rolls, but filled with mozzarella cheese, parmesan, pepperoni, & pizza sauce. They are an absolute must have @ Jakes! Served w/ caesar salad. So great! The patio is FABULOUS complete w/ an outdoor bar, television, high top tables w/ fire pits in the center, plants, & a fountain. It's the place to be in the summertime. Especially late night. The patio provides a city-like getaway in the middle of the suburb. Highly recommended by me :) Good stuff all around.

Good Sunday brunch and excellent service. My only qualms about the brunch was that the shrimp was in the freezer too long. My opinions is if its not realativly fresh, dont serve it. Other than that, they did a great job. The servers work together to keep everyone full of liquids and dirty plates out of sight. A good variety for $15.00.

Jakes is in a spot that was once occupied by Bennigans, but don't worry they've classed it up a bit. The food here is great, American Fare, and the interior decor is as nice as it gets for a sports bar. Arguably, the best outdoor patio in the area, they also have large booths in the bar for comfortable indoor seating. They have a full bar, and an average selection of beer on tap. Decent wings, but this is one place I have never had a bad meal or app.

The best part of the place is the bar. The bartenders are really cool. They remember your name (off your ID) and use it all night long. They never let your drink get empty before coming over to ask for a new drink or refill. Fun for a happy hour or dinner. Gets busy, but I would just as soon stay at the bar and catch a game and get great service from the bartenders.

My wife and I ate here on a Tuesday afternoon, and we were pretty disappointed. I had high hopes when we walked in, since the wood-fire grill smelled amazing. I had the beef brisket, which tasted like it came out of a Simek's bucket. My wife ordered a Rachel, which came out with absolutely no sauerkraut on it. This was a big problem, since a pregnancy-related craving for sauerkraut was the whole reason she ordered it. I asked the waitress for a side of sauerkraut, but she insisted on taking it back. It came back out with the same amount of sauerkraut (ie, none). Not willing to find out what they actually did add to it, we left.

Jake's had a pretty decent sized menu with a variety of options. The place had a nice decor and I like that fact that in the bar the booth sides went up high enough that you weren't looking in on people next to you and vice versa. I chose the Walleye Sandwich - would not get again. Too much bread not enough fish. The fries that were included were very tasty though. Hubby ordered the BBQ chicken pizza which was EXCELLENT! Thin crusted pizza with just the right amount of sauce, bacon, onions and chicken. Although I wasn't impressed with my meal I did like what I did taste of the pizza and the menu had other items I could see myself trying. Also, we tried the brownie desert - yummy! Four brownies with ice cream and chocolate sauce.
