Cheese. Hello cheese. This place took me right back to my childhood when pizza was about cheese first, second, and last. Don't get me wrong, I love my crusts and toppings (good choices here too) but sometimes you just want the cheese that is so gooey your first slice will basically be lifted to the ceiling before it breaks free from the rest of the pie. You know what I'm talking about. Pagliai's might make sick or fat if I lived nearby, but I don't so this cheese topped wonderment might be the best thing I ate last week and I will remember it fondly for years to come. Good job.

The pizza is great! I drive thirty miles just to eat here! Never disappointing and always great! A must for pizza lovers no matter what nothing compares anywhere around!

This pizza is hands down the best in Mankato!! $2.75 taps only make the experience that much better.

I don't know much about Midwest pizza, but this was just bad compared to real pizza in the northeast.

Literally the best pizza in Mankato and probably southern MN, BUT they do definitely lose a star for bizarre customer service experiences. Sometimes they're great and other times they come off like we're an inconvenience to them. Also, I have heard the same and experienced the same weirdness with the delivery. Overall great though! I'd definitely suggest eating in as opposed to delivery.

Classic pizza was the perfect combination. This is the best pizza in Mankato hands down! Nostalgic place that is crazy busy during the holidays.

Hope the pizza is great. Hoping it will just be warm. Told 45 minutes for delivery closer to two hours. Order taker did not know what was in the salad and I had to rind him to take my cc number. Called at 75 minutes looking for it asked how long for delivering. I informed them I had been waiting 75 once I was passed to the third person. Who said they have been slammed all night. Just be honest when people order Hope it shows up before I fall asleep. Poor service and communication

Best pizza in Mankato. Very cheesy. Old style pizzeria atmosphere. Lunch special for $6 is a great value, as is the Thursday/Sunday pizza & beer special. Don't miss this place when you're in Mankato!

Great pizza, was a super busy weekend so our service was a little slow. I would have liked the crust a touch more cooked and perhaps a little more meat. The server was nice throughout and we left happy. When in town, this is a place to hit!

  • Steve A.

Something about the sauce and sausage, the best. The deep dish crust is unreal. Have to get one whenever in town.

Mmmmmm! Found this place in 2007 by complete accident and fell in love with it. Now, every time we visit Mankato, we ALWAYS stop at Pagliai's for their awesome pizza. We are never disappointed. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. I have to say this is some of the best pizza I've ever had. I know it's the best in Mankato, might even be some of the best pizza in Minnesota! Love the ambiance, nice 'pizza joint' you can sit at, eat a great meal and have a beer but family oriented too! They play great classic rock and the decor is slightly outdated, but really, you're not here to look at the walls! Lol! My husband is from the East Coast and he says its some of the best pizza he's ever had. Nuff said. :)

Seriously so good. The cheeseburger bacon I think it was that we had was so delicious.

First thing: this pizza is awesome! We're new to the area and are working our way through the local faves. This is honestly the best we've tried so far and I'm pretty sure it will stay that way for our family. Second thing: our house is hard to find. Google shows it as a big green space so we anticipated a " can't find you" call. The call came before the driver left and again on his way over. My husband talked him right to our place within in a couple of minutes and the pizza was piping hot. Like, just brought to our table from the oven hot! Huge props to the driver for his perseverance!

Duh. Everyone knows it's a 5. If you're reading this you obviously need to go find out for yourself.

We had the medium Pagliai special (sausage, onions, green peppers) on thin crust - excellent, with crunchy crust, chewy cheese, and tasty seasonings. The medium veggie, deep dish, was disappointing: too much bread, not enough veggies, a casserole placed atop a loaf of bread. Avoid. The place was packed, the service decent. Go with the thin crust and maybe have a dinner salad. There's plenty of beer choices and a Thursday special if you want a pitcher of beer - the watery stuff. A local favorite.

Great pizza! Their lunch special is awesome! Small pizza and drink for $6. Can't beat that!

Great food, prices, and portions. Nice beer options and friendly staff. Really enjoy coming here.

During a recent weekend trip to Mankato - our local friends heavily recommended Pagliai's...and never being one to shy away from a pizza place, so when headed there for a little Saturday night dinner. Everything about this place screams college town pizza place, and that's high praise. The restaurant itself is in a fairly small downtown building, with the ovens and employees making pizzas in the front. We ordered a large maverick pizza (their verson of a meat lovers), and some of the cheesy bread. Positives: -If you like cheese, cheese, and more cheese this is the place for you. -Located downtown, great place to start (or end) your weekend evening. -Local Mankato brewery beers on tap. -Fun, divey college pizza joint atmosphere. -Awesome beer and pizza specials on Thursdays/Sundays. Negatives: -There's not a ton of parking right by the place, but there is a parking garage close by. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it's certainly good stuff - and with the good specials on Thursday and Sundays and a fun atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend a stop here.

Interesting selections. First time I had a taco pizza, which tasted just like taco, but with pizza dough, like. Their "words" pizza was ok, one of the sausage on the pizza taste nasty, but with it out the picture, it's decent. Tasty is 3 star, but price is crazy good.

Palace Pizza was very good! Waitress was excellent.

Best pizza in Mankato hands down. Service is good. The new exterior is nice and you have done a good job of keeping the character.

I dig the pizza here. Thin crust, excellent cheese, prepared by people that seem to consistently care. Freshly remodeled, decent beer selection. The lunch pizza special is the time to go. Get some.

I've been coming here for over 30 years. The best pizza in Mankato hands down. The decor hasn't changed much. However, it doesn't need to. The kitchen is in front in full view. Booths are old-style. It's classic, not outdated. I love Pagliai's sauce and generous cheese portions. Favorites are the B Special and the Palace - but it's all good. For a fun combo, try shrimp and Canadian bacon. I also love their pitcher beer specials on Thursdays and Sundays. Get a pitcher for as little as $.25!

First off...I am so glad I ordered the deep dish! I am a fan on a thick pizza and Pagliai's makes a great one. I was a little concerned that it might be greasy b/c of deep dish, but it was not. A very nice crust with the right amount of crunch. The pizza was the Garden and I was very happy with the toppings. Fresh ingredients and no canned mushrooms (bonus points). The sauce and flavor were powerful...no need for pepper flakes or other condiments. The server was very friendly and attentive. It is also fun to see the whole kitchen working away in plain sight. I'll be stopping back next time I am in Mankato.

Love it. Great thin crust pizza! My favorite is the chicken Alfredo. Been going here with my family since I was a kid and there aren't many places that have pizza this good elsewhere.

The cheese bread is the only redeeming quality of this place.. But how can you really mess up cheese bread? Skip it.

  • Brent R.

Hands-down the best pizza in Mankato. The lunch special is a true bargain (single-topping pizza and a pop for around $6), providing enough pizza to have leftovers for the evening or lunch for the next day, at least for those with moderate appetites and the ability to resist devouring the entire thing. You can get cheaper pizzas and fancier environments elsewhere, but you darn sure won't get Pagliai's quality when it comes to the food you're paying for! Anyone opting for the fresh-from-the-corporate-can Olive Garden experience over this place is clearly out of his mind.

  • Jessica K.

Just the best. It's that type of pizza joint you see on tv...except better. Cheesy, greasy, but just the right amount.

  • Hannah W.

I've been coming here with my family since I was a kid and it's always been my favorite pizza, ever. Nothing beats it. They don't skimp on toppings, the prices are really fair. They have an awesome noon lunch special. It's the oldest local business in Mankato. The place has a vintage feel to it and I've always liked it. The service can be kind of slow sometimes but otherwise FIVE STARS. Come try it for yourself!!!

Wish I could review the pizza but we never got that far. After walking in we were told we can sit anywhere. We sat right next to the kitchen. No one ever came over to us, but 3 waitress walked by us nearly 15 times. After 10 minutes or so we flagged down a server. She asked who are waitress was we said "we didn't have one." Then she said "oh so you just sat down?" We said "yes," she then asked, "so what do you want then.?" I told her nothing and left. The place smelled great and we were excited to eat there but it didn't happen. The place was a little messy and dirty but I can over look that for good pizza. Oh well what did I expect in Mankato.

Not impressed. Lost my order, so delivery took 1hr 20min and got 2 free mt dew for the inconvenience. I should be saved $ and gone to the Olive Garden. I cant understand what everyone else is talking about.

Heard about this place from a buddy that was passing through town.... He said it was a little hole in the wall joint.... I didn't think it was, but it was comfy. It is a couple doors down from Pub500 where I have been several time for Beer Releases and such. So, Easy to find! I had met a couple friends here for a late dinner on a Friday night a couple months ago. The place was full....with one booth open when I got there around 7:30 or 8.....Perfect! We had a pitcher of Mankato Haymaker IPA, they split some spaghetti, and I ordered a southwestern chicken pizza (or some name similar). Everything was delicious and reasonably priced!! Friendly and attentive staff! I look forward to another run down to Mankato and meal at Pagliai's!! Thank you for the tasty food and great service!!

I'm from CA and never liked Midwest pizza. Then I moved to Mankato for college...enter the Pagliais era. In the early 90's a buddy delivered for this place so I would order a lot. I could never figure out what made these pizza so damn good. I learned their cheese is made by contract just for them from a WI dairy. It's the most flavorful cheese I've ever had on a pizza. It tastes as good now as it did 20 years ago, may they never change. All food is prepared fresh daily. The place has not changed in 20 years, the same old decor with new "alt" staff changing every decade or so... I'm happy they stay the same, this is truly worth traveling for, make a day of it since Kato is a cool town anyway. I must suggest the deep dish, but you won't eat more than 1-2 slices. They even do take and bake, which cooks great at home. Try it....

My favorite pizza! Cheese is delicious, sauce is incredible and the crust is so good! I have not had better pizza, I have found a way to make a sauce similar to Paglia's and my husband loves it!

I go out of my way to get me some Pag's pizza for lunch when I'm working in Mankato, it's a tradition.

Best pizza in town. Great place to grab a group of friends and a few pies. Love the square slices and the buffalo chicken is always a favorite. I have yet to try the hoagies which I hear are just as good.

Seriously fantastic pizza!! Large selection of specialty pizzas. Great place for families during dinner and the bar crowd in the early AM. And I love to see the owners work the rush on Friday nights.

Wanted to try the best Pizza in Mankato, but was disappointed greatly. The crust is nice but gets tough right after you open the box. It is uber greasy and cheesy. The salt is out of this world and if you have blood pressure or are prone to it, then avoid this place at all cost. The sauce on the pizza is good, but again too heavy with the oregano and therefore, kind of mediciny feeling. The atmosphere is terrific. Has that NYC pizza joint type of feel with the smoke and the kitchen out in the front. Also, near all the bars and cool new restaurants in Mankato. If you are in need of late night greasy food, then this place offers that. For my taste, I tried it and will likely not go again.

I've been coming here since I was 14 years old. That's half a lifetime ago!!!! The only thing that's changed since 1989 is the upgrade of a CD player. The wall decor, lighting, and furniture are the same as they were back when I was a teenager and I love it. The people who work there are always alt and subculture. Thanks, Pagliai's-I love seeing tattooed and pierced people like me when I come in. Southern MN NEEDS that kind of diversity and you have always managed to ensure our little conservative-thinking hometown is exposed to "different" kinds of people. Again: THANK YOU FOR RULING SO HARD. Now...onto PIZZA. It's the best ever. I always come in and have a Palace. That italian sausage is delicious, plus toppings are generously piled high onto thin crust which crunches deliciously in your mouth. Patrons: Good luck finding a better pizza anywhere in MN. I used to drive down from the Cities to have pizza here because noone else's compared. I'm in SF Bay Area now and STILL feel the same way! Pagliai's: May your doors forever be open and your clientele remain large!!! Thanks for getting the liquor license and serving full strength beer, also! WIN!!!! Love, Love, Love!!!!

By far the best pizza in all of Mankato and possibly Minnesota. They have good pizza/beer pitcher specials.

Best place for pizza in Mankato, or probably anywhere! The cheese will be what gets you, but everything else is great, too!

Traveling on business and staying in Makato a couple of days. I visited a Pagliai's in Iowa City and thought, great, I'll have a great pizza here too. My mistake... Was not the cleanest spot in the world and the pizza reflected it. It was a mistake to think that if you visited one Pagliai's with a great experience, that you would find that in all of them. Suggest your pizza cravings are fulfilled someplace else.
