We ate here based on all of the reviews which were absolutely on point. The atmosphere is trendy and inviting, and the food was amazing! I had a chicken salad sandwich, my other half had a lamb burger, and our 3 year old had a quesadilla. With reasonable prices, several healthy options, and delicious food, we would definitely eat here again!

If you are in Hutch, eat here. If you are not in Hutch, get to Hutch and eat here. This is where all the cool hip Moms hang out, at least during the lunch I ate here. And cool local business types. The place is cool. I felt cool by association just eating here. Exterior is in historic downtown Hutch, classic old brick building with lots of windows and on-street parking right out front. The interior rivals any Stillwater or Wayzata trendy restaurant with exposed brick walls, dark hardwood floors, comfy booths, tables, and welcoming bar with a nice selection of unique beer on tab. My lunch accomplice had a half Rueben and fries. She's pretty particular and raved about the fries and the Rueben. It looked superb. Presentation here is great, only exceeded by the taste of the food. I was torn between a local sounding burger and Apple Meatloaf. The server steered by to the apple meatloaf and it was great advice. It was a huge slice of firm, tasty apple infused meatloaf, circled in bacon (yes bacon), seared with grill marks, served with delicious mashed potatoes and a side of fresh steamed broccoli. The large portion offered me the chance to enjoy this superb lunch twice: once at this restaurant, and again later that night when I re-heated my carry out portion and relived this 5-star meal for a second time... this time from a much less trendy space in my kitchen at home. In short this place is trendy, tasty and fantastic. A real gem.

We had a most excellent meal here - everything came exactly as we ordered, wait staff were friendly and attentive. There are not a huge amount of restaurants in Hutchinson, but I'd match this against a restaurant in any other city. I'd give five stars except they'd run out of a couple of things, fairly early in the day. I'd go back tho'.

Ate lunch at Zellas this week and was very impressed. The atmosphere is pleasant, with dark wood booths lining the walls, and soft lighting. Even though it was busy, just a relaxing place. Then there was the food. I had the chicken cashew sandwich. My friend had the wild rice soup and pear salad. All excellent -- and especially noted that the wild rice soup wasn't the creamy recipe typically found in Minnesota restaurants. It exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Real attention to the quality and presentation of the food. I'll go back -- and go out of my way. The only reason I don't give it a 5th star is that I want to return for dinner first.

Can't wait to go back!! Local fresh ingredients. I feel so good about eating their food. When my friend told me about this place, I was expecting it to be like a barn where the servers yell out our orders from the back farm house onto our table (I'm not from Minnesota, can you tell?) But the dining area was stunning!! I ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread, and my 2 other friends ordered the lamb burger. They were raving about it the whole time and wouldn't stop talking about it for another 2 days. I wish I would've stolen a bite from them. My bbq flatbread was the bomb. It wasn't loaded with arugula and the textures and flavors were all so perfect. The flatbread was at a perfect thickness and crisp. Good place for a date and even for groups. I will definitely be back when I visit MN! It seemed like a restaurant with great integrity and pride in what they serve.

First off, to give some context, I grew up in Hutchinson so I can tell you it is where foodies go to die. If it isn't fast food or a chain, it typically won't last long in Hutch. To see a place such as Zellas open up and stick around (I think they've been around for at least a couple years now) is seriously... heart warming. They specialize in "home-grown local fare", some of which they even grow in their own gardens which are off-site. They have a seasonal menu so there is always something fresh and new to try which I think is awesome. Their salads are great; I love the grilled pear salad and the last time I was there I think I had the sweet apple pork with sweet potato-apple-bacon hash. I could name off a lot of their dishes but I will honestly say that I don't think you can really go wrong with any dish that comes out of their kitchen. On top of the great food they have an expansive wine list, which I'm not really that knowledgeable on so I can't really comment other than that. But, they do a great job of bringing in lots of tasty and local craft beers. They usually have at least 2 or 3 craft taps on which is pretty impressive for the small town of Hutch. I've seen beers from Brau Bros, Bells, Rush River, Boulevard (smokestack series) and lots of others I'm sure I've missed since I don't get home that often. They also have some bottles on hand so I hear. If you're going on a weekend it may be smart to call ahead for reservations as it can get pretty busy. Aside from it's charm, there is nothing small town about this restaurant. It can hang with any of the more well known local places in the twin cities and is worth the drive out there.

A Twin Cities newspaper identified Zella's as one of six Minnesota restaurants that plan menus around locally sourced produce and meats, so on our way to Marshall MN my wife and I stopped for Lunch. Entrees are listed on a blackboard by the register, where you place your order. The process was efficient, and the wait staff was terrific throughout our meal. We started with the grilled pear salad, which was delicious, if a little light on the presence of pear. Our entrees came, which we decided to share. One was a big hit; the other a big miss. First, the miss. The caramelized salmon was indeed caramelized, but dry as a bone. No moistness whatsoever. The sides were great, especially the carrot-cabbage ginger slaw, a wonderful spicy slaw. The hit entree was the Apple Meatloaf, a comfort food delight! Wrapped in bacon with crisp apple pieces throughout, it was outstanding. If we happen by in the future, we'll bypass the seafood for other entrees.

I had been to Zella a few times before while in Hutch on business, and liked that I could get a decent salad there, but wasn't wowed by any means. Well - I stopped in for lunch yesterday and fell in love. Had the chicken cashew salad sandwich and grilled pear salad. The salad was very good - I was especially impressed by the variety and freshness of the greens. But the sandwich. Oh my, I loved it. It's served on grilled bread that has a bit of a char to it, and the cashews are so crunchy and yummy. Mmmm. I liked it so much that I went back for dinner on my way back through Hutch today. I was planning to have the cashew chicken salad sandwich again, but apparently that's just a lunch item. I chose the lamb burger from the dinner menu. YUM. Very flavorful lamb with this red wine aioli that brought it to a higher level. The bun was nice and soft and fresh. My side salad was (again) super fresh and tasty. On both visits, the service was friendly and efficient, and the ambience was classy but not too frou frou. Many items are locally sourced and they have a better beer selection than I ever expected in Hutch (today's offerings included local breweries Lucid and Cold Spring, plus some decent national brews like New Holland and Bell's). A previous reviewer knocked Zella because it wasn't as Italian as she expected. FWIW I didn't see anything that led me to believe Zella is marketing itself as Italian. It's more the locally-sourced-creative-new-American genre.

Outstanding restaurant. The menu is a delightful selection of American fare prepared to perfection. Ambience is elegant and comfortable. Noise level is good for conversation. Service could not have been better, very professional. Our waitress went out of her way to assure meals were exactly how we ordered them. There were 10 of us in the group and we will definitely go back again and again.

Atmosphere, wine, really good. Waitress friendly. The food was good except for the Calamari it was tough and rubbery. It very strange to dine in a nice Italian restaurant and not have salad or bread. That's why they call it Italian bread. I guess it was on the menu as an appetizer. So if you wanted it with your meal you had to pay extra. As for ambience music I love the beatles but did not expect to listen to the white album. Italian dinner music would have seemed more appropriate. Definitely a big improvement in Hutchinson.

Best restaurant in Hutchinson, hands down. I had the grilled pear salad and avocado caprese flat bread. Everything was amazing!! The service was great. I believe our server was Emily. She was very nice and had great recommendations. She talked us into the lime cheesecake. It was heavenly. I can't wait to go back again.

For a town that doesn't even have a Panera Bread, I was convinced that I would have to eat dinner at either a fast food chain restaurant or a bar. What a pleasent surprise Zellas was. A warm, VERY FRIENDLY environment and delicious food. I had the Iceberg wedge salad, which was good and the Cedar Plank Steelhead with a Veggie Rositto-this was great! I hope my travels bring me back thru Hutchinson soon because I would like to stop back and try some of the other menu selections.

I had the Apple Meatloaf after hearing the (locally-sourced) lamb burger was not available. It was excellent, I must say, and the waitress even substituted their excellent tomato soup for a side salad for me (I hate salad). The total bill came to $13 - which is quite impressive for a place with such ambiance. The only thing wrong with them was the sub-optimal seating (too much height in between booth and table). Otherwise, a great find on my part (or my phone's, to be honest).

Okay did someone mention this was in Hutchinson, MN? We were out chasing some storms earlier in the week and as they dis-organized and began to line out we figured we would check this place out. Very nice atmosphere, nice selection of beer's, some micro-brew's along with stella. It was fairly packed given it's size on a Tuesday, in Hutchinson. I ordered the avocado caprese flatbread, it was pretty good, the flatbread was good but, by the time it arrived was a little less crisp in the middle as one would expect with the melted cheese and drizzled balsamic glaze. Along with the avacado, garlic, tomato, basil and perhaps chili flakes it was great, decent sized, for $10 it was a pretty good choice. I can't quite say it was overpriced but, certainly not under priced. All in all if you find yourself in Huctch, I would give them a try. By the time we left the storms had lined out and were just passing us as we enjoyed the lightning show on the way back to the metro.

Not a Mexican restaurant - not an Italian restaurant - just great food! The meatloaf is the perfect comfort food on a cold night. The burger is flavorful . The grilled pear salad is great. Seasonally they have a pumpkin cheesecake that you won't want to miss. With great ambiance and warm, friendly owners and waitstaff, your dining experience will be wonderful.

What a wonderful surprise! We met my Mom for lunch in Hutchinson today. We typically meet at Country Kitchen as there are limited options for dining in Hutch. I looked around on line for something different and found Zellas. I am so glad I did. It is not something you'd expect in Hutch. My mom and I had the 1/2 salad, 1/2 sandwich combos (Ruben + Whole Grain Salad, Grilled Cheese + Grilled Asian Pear Salad). The pear salad was great, other than it was over dressed. My husband got the fish tacos and he could not finish them because they were so bland. The chipotle ranch dressing was too watery which made the corn tortillas soggy and they served flax seed tortilla chips on the side but didn't include any salsa. Our total bill was $28 for 3 meals and 1 pop. The ambiance was good - very well done interior and good service. Skip the fish tacos! I'm so glad we don't have to eat at Country Kitchen anymore.
