Sorry folks, but this was the worse pizza that I have had in ages. It wasn't cooked enough and the ingredients were scarce. The sausage was horrible. Had to seriously search for the toppings. The sauce was even bad tasting. I went in for a take-away and purchased the highly overpriced combination pizza. It cost over $25 dollars. Quite a bit of money for a pizza in a town far away from populated places. I can only compare the pizza there to Good Time Pizza I have had in Bovey when there in the past and there is no comparison.
I always enjoy Sammys pizza when I am north. Great food, great service, always a must stop! I also love the history behind this joint. Monday night pizza buffet for a little over $10. Everyday there is a special. Great stop!!
Ran into this little gem by pure accident while driving up to a fishing trip. It was rated well on Yelp, and all the reviews were spot on! The menu has so many choices that anyone will be happy here. The pizza was really great. Thin crust with a nice crunch, and not a bit of a trace of grease, just perfect. The wings were unlike any other I have had, and were delicious! Some type of sweet Asian chili sauce with a hint of ginger. Also had good ole' fried wings that were great. The soup and salad bar were also amazing. Wish this was closer to my hometown!!

This place is a great inexpensive spot. The rooms are very nice, very clean, the pool is gigantic and they have a hot tub and sauna as well. I've stayed here probably 4-5 times, and would definitely stay again!

How can you run a steakhouse if you don't know how to cook a steak? My steak was burned outside and raw/cold inside. I am not a professional cook but I'm sure I can do better. If you ever experienced a real steakhouse you will be frustrated with this place.
Service was good. Server is pleasant and quick. Pretty rustic cabin feel, clean and great view of lake. The food was fast, hot and delicious. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and it was perfect...real sausage gravy and fresh fluffy biscuits. I got the ham and Swiss scrambler and it was yummy and cheesy. No skimping on portions or quality. Will be back while we are in the area for vacation.
I can't believe I ironed a dress shirt for this place. The chicken and wild rice soup was pretty good. The ribeye unremarkable. The whistling waitress gave us the bums rush with the check.

A big ole' .... well .... bar. Picture your prototypical Legion (or other fraternal club/bar) in a small town. Have that picture in your head? Good. Now turn up the lighting a tiny bit. Whoah, not that much! There, better. Okay, now you have Toivo's. Don't take this as a derision. It works. Toivo's is a large building that serves drinks and the exact gastro fare you'd expect. Every once in a while there's a band; maybe a DJ. No need to dress up. Drag your sorry butt back on Sunday morning for the buffet; it's actually not bad. Dude, it's a bar. People seem to like it.
We were at this restaurant for hamburger special night. The burgers and beer were good. We had fried cauliflower as an appetizer and it was delicious! Nice local place!
I had to stop here to avoid a crazy severe going on tornadic storm that was rushing through north central Minnesota. Thank goodness I found it too, I don't drive too well in pouring rain. Very friendly northern Mn atmosphere and bartender. She approached me instantly and told me she would give me happy hour prices even though the clock had just changed over. Insta-love right there. Both collage and pro football games were on, cheap booze (even after happy hour), and pull tabs. Classic dive bar greatness. I really don't know if I'll ever be needed to stop in Grand Rapids again, but if I do I know I'll stop here.

Decent service slightly better than average Mexican food. I went here twice and ordered two different lunch specials. The lettuce is your typical pre cut ice berg strips and the neat gets cooked a little dry. Overall it is still very satisfying and decently priced for the amount if food you get. You get free chips and salsa before your meal as well.

I wish we had Taco Johns around the STL area but we dont. I do not normally review fast food places but I really like taco johns. It is like Taco bell but only better. The service here was very good actually as well. Being it is fast food I cannot give it more than a 3/5 star rating without feeling weird.

I realize this is a small town and options are limited and whereas this may be one of the better hotels in town (according to locals) I believe there MUST be something better. Our room was a sauna, it was awfully warm more like hot, sleeping was impossible. They have one central heating and air unit that controls the whole building. Each room cannot be individually tempeture controlled. The shower was literally a trickle of water and I mean literally it was more like a leaky faucet and the whole time it's squealed and screeched at me it took me about 30 minutes to take a shower. I was here for my sister-in-law's wedding and the reception was held here, the food was pretty basic, and the staff here was not really the most friendly. But the bar on the other hand was wonderful the staff there was so attentive and so friendly and the drinks were made strong and entertainment was lively and the food was good. They offered pizza late night for those that drank too much since I ordered some I guess I was one of those people that drank too much. :) The pool to the building is in the center of the hotel and the rooms or wrapped around it. So it is very loud pretty much all the time lots of children and the carpets are wet and the floors are wet and the rooms smell like mold and chlorine. When I asked the front desk for a fan for my very hot room (since the were booked and couldn't give me a new room) they only offered me a small, low watt fan that would offer no comfort. I had to borrow a high watt window fan from family members who live in town. Out room door was made of glass and had a curtain for privacy so when you would go to open the door you would have to move the curtains to get out. Not very private at all. The key to the room was very difficult to use in the lock it took me forever to unlock every time. Eventually I got smart and used the other door but still thought the whole thing was silly. Never been in a hotel room with 3 exit doors, a glass door, no climate control in the room and such bad insulation that my own room felt like the sauna from below. quite strange.
We went to Sawmill because everyone said to try it out. We tried it out. It was ok at best. The ribs were subpar. The Walleye was extremely good! The popovers were... rolls? I do not understand why people are going crazy over them, but to each their own. The servers were very nice and the atmosphere was cozy. I doubt I would come back here just because I had good walleye elsewhere during my trip.
I don't think it gets better in Grand Rapids than at the Sawmill (unless my mother-in-law is cooking at home)! Great walleye and I like the ribs a lot. The steak is first rate and it is nice that the bar is adjacent so you can eat in peace in the dining room if you so desire or be more active in the bar. Great staff both places! DO NOT FORGET THE POPOVERS! Fresh and homemade! Awesome for sure!
