Great place for vegans and vegetarians. Most items can be made vegan or vegetarian by adding tofu instead of the meat options. Also you can request they remove the egg. Not most authentic thai, but at least it exists and provides a refreshing change to all the italian and american restaurants. Be warned, the spiciness can be choose on a scale from 1-5. But for some dishes (like the curry), a 3 is pretty spicy! Each main dish is around $10

I had Pad Thai, my husband had Special Lo Mein, and we shared Spring Rolls. Everything was very tasty. Food presentation was very nice.

This unassuming little place really blew us away! All 5 of us in our group loved what we ordered, and service was very attentive. Great find!

Lunch combos!! I'm a fan of this joint, seriously. I realize that it is a Thai place in Faribault, MN. And the name is sorta funny. And it is in a strip mall. But the food is legit and delicious. They have these great lunch combos that come with one of the best egg rolls I have ever enjoyed. There are only like five lunch combo options and they're primarily Chinese fare, but still pretty darn tasty. Additionally, we have tried many of their dinner entrees to go. All have good although I can't say that their seafood (shrimp or squid) dishes are that fantastic. Would I still give this place 4 stars if it were located on Lake Street? Nope. But for Faribault, it is a 4-4.5. Check it out.

This is my favorite restaurant. I have never had anything that wasn't fabulous, and the service is great too! Can't say enough good things.

A good Thai place, however its level of spicing is a bit lacking. It is more of an American version of flavor and spice level than authentic Thai that you would expect somewhere else. Overall a good restaurant, has yelp checkin specials (free fountain drink upon checkin). The wait staff were quick and courteous and kept our drinks topped up and checked in frequently enough not to be annoying.

The flavors are good, the service is good, the execution needs help. An ingredient was forgotten in each of our dishes and mine was very dry. I asked where my mushrooms were, the waitress took it back to the kitchen (which I am always leery of) and she returned with a whopping 3 pieces of mushrooms (not 3 mushrooms but 3 PIECES) added to my dish. We have had similar experiences on the past and keep hoping it gets better, but it never does. Would it kill you to make the dish as it is explained in your menu?

Having spend over a month in Thailand I would not say this is tradition food, it is what most Americans think Thai food should taste like. I would not eat here again

Delicious food, large menu, and awesome service. Everyone there was so polite. That was refreshing after a bad day of traveling. 1st of Thai is awesome I can't wait to go back. Seriously get the Egg Rolls!

Great food, great wait staff, nice family run restaurant with a good varied menu. Easy access from Interstate 35. My go to order is the coconut soup. I have it with rice instead of noodles. Probably the best egg rolls I've had. Good spring rolls. I've had other items on their menu and have not been disappointed. They offer a no MSG option.

Absolutely delicious! Tom kha gai was amazing. Chicken satay was great. Nice service. What else needs to be said?

This place is amazing. I've tried many different items on the menu. Hot or cold dishes, this place is batting 1.000. I have yet to find something I don't like. The wait staff will suggest dishes if you don't know what you want. Tell them what flavors you like and they'll be honest about the menu and are spot on with their suggestions. Would eat here every meal if I could but they aren't open for breakfast.

Good food. We occasional go for lunch and always leave full. Relatively inexpensive, but always satisfying.

1st of Thai has an enormous menu and even includes some Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. Reasonably priced, their dishes packed a lot of flavor and were a great deal. I had one of their 5 combination plates, Chicken Pad Puk, and it was cooked perfectly. Recommend if... A) You're looking for a great deal with just the right amount of food. B) You want to expand your Thai repertoire than just curries and Pad Thai, 1st of Thai offers a lot of dishes. C) You want to feel alive...ask for extra spicy. Bring plenty of milk!

When I lived in Owatonna, I would drive 20 minutes to Faribault for their Thai cuisine. It's not the best Thai food I've had, but it was good enough for me to come back time and time again, especially since the takeout selection is scarce where I lived. I typically ordered the pad see ew and tom yum soup. The food was pretty flavorful and can be made very spicy as well. I would also order Thai iced tea to wash down the food, which also tasted pretty good. This place is worth a try, you may like it...

So close to a five but the interior is stuck in an 80's rut. My mom and I had spring rolls, green curry with chicken and hot &spicy chicken. The spring rolls were fresh and crunchy with delicious peanut dipping sauce. The entrees were well seasoned and came with plenty of vegetables and rice. The staff was very attentive at refilling hot tea and water. Great spot to eat!

Easy to find, right off the I35 north of Faribault. I was blown away by the quality of two appetizers, and particularly the attention to the two sauces. The curry puffs were good, but the dipping sauce with peanuts and cucumber had a freshness and herb detail that I have never experienced before. Likewise the pork satay was very good, marinaded to perfection and flavorful, but the peanut dipping sauce was the best I have ever tasted; a hint of lemon grass lay behind the peanuts in beautiful proportion. The rest of the meal was well-prepared, plentiful and tasty. A couple of prep shortcuts were evident in the steamed vegetables and main course sauces. The service from the Cambodian waitress was wonderful. Four house martin(?) chicks were hungry in their nest under the eaves a few feet away from my table. A box with blankets had been placed under them, just in case the first flight was a crash. That alone should commend 1st of Thai to you. The chicks will be gone by the time you get there, but the appetizers will make up for that.

Back visiting my parents for a while and my brother was the first one to point out this restaurant. My mother commented that she did not like their egg rolls but my brother was insistent that the food was great. A couple days later when driving home from Burnsville my mother offered to stop and let me run in an order some take-out. I jumped at the chance as I had been craving green curry and knew there was no where else in the local area that would offer it. During my visit it was the evening and I did not really go anywhere other than the register area so I can't really comment on the decor. What I did notice was that my green curry chicken was ready in less than 10 minutes! Got home ate the curry and was happily surprised. The curry was spicier than expected (because on the menu its called sweet green curry) but it was good. Even my mother enjoyed it. Overall: Good parking, fast take-out service, reasonable prices, wide variety on the menu. Still afraid to try the spring rolls.

Great! Really so tasty, and really good service. I've been here about 3-5 times and have consistently found the food to be perfectly done (fresh vegetables, thick and flavorful sauces) and the waitstaff to be friendly, attentive, and professional. For some reason, they are never full. It could be that people in Faribault are too scared to try Thai food, or that all the locals are keeping the secret to themselves. Maybe a bit of both. I've been to Thailand on an eating tour, and found that, although it isn't exactly the same, this is probably some of the best Thai food you'll find in the midwest, definitely one of the best restaurants in Faribault. Actually, the best restaurant in Rice County. The decor is not upscale, but it is clean and well-lit and comfortable. The food makes up for it all. Definitely get the mango-sticky rice. Oh, how can it be so yummy!

Was not busy at all at 11:30 on a Monday morning. We tried the spring rolls, they were very tasty. I had the chicken Pad Thai with 3/5 heat. I thought it very tasty. We left very full and happy and I look forward to stopping here during my next trip from the Twin Cities to Cedar Rapids, IA.

This place has my fav dish in Thai food Laab Esan. I was surprised they had it, not many Thai places do. So I was happy to hear they did. :) Customer service was great, I felt welcome right away. I am definitely coming back to eat in next time.

Liked the Thai food I sampled, seemed healthier than the standard Chinese fare. Seemed friendly and enjoyed food.
