This is the best custard that I have had since I lived in Wisconsin! It was located inside what looked like someone's house and it was adorable. I love getting sundaes and I tried the Truffle. Many places will put the ice cream/custard in massive amounts and then a slight bit of toppings. Not here. Every bite from start to finish had raspberries, chocolate chunks, and fudge. In short, amazing!

What a great little shop. I was out with my family one evening at Maynards and we happened upon adele's. The kids got excited and my wife and I caved. Fortunately, no one was dissapointed. My wife and I had the bannana split and each of my kids picked a scoop of their choice. There were even a few benches outside and we had a nice, family evening enjoying delicious ice cream. We just moved to the area and we already have a favorite family spot!

Custard was not nearly as good as Michael's (in Wisconsin). Sandwiches were a little dry and nothing special. Spendy for what it is.

We stopped in and thought Adele's was a cute little custard shop. With lots of seating out on the patio and not so much seating inside, it's the type of place that you'd want to stop for a treat and either take your treat outside or take it home in your car. Speaking of cars, there's also a drive-through, so yay. Overall, we liked the custard. Rich, creamy, thick and delicious. They have one of those custard machines churning out custard behind the counter so you know the custard you are eating is fresh. I was also surprised to find a menu of sandwiches and other non-dessert options. Service was fine. Like most ice cream shops, largely teenagers. But proficient and friendly. I think my biggest complaint honestly was that for the money, we got almost no custard. We both ordered a turtle sundae, which came with lots of ooey gooey fudge and caramel, nuts and a generous helping of what I believe was homemade whipped cream. But the actual amount of custard in the sundae was almost non-existent. I'm not sure what it's like when you get just plain custard with no extras, but I couldn't help but think that the "scoops" in our two-scoop sundaes were pretty light. Maybe a fluke, maybe not. We'll have to try it again to know for sure I think. So three stars for now, with room for an upgrade.

I have been going to Adele's since I was a child and am convinced it is the best frozen treat in the world. Nestled just east of downtown Excelsior, this little shop is constantly teaming with people in the summer, and for good reason: they have incredible custard. This was my family's post-baseball game go-to when I was growing up, so I have had many menu items, but my favorite is their chocolate custard with raspberries on top. If you ever find yourself on a summer day in the west suburbs, you owe yourself the experience of Adele's.

Cannot beat Adele's custard. It is the best I've ever had! They only have two flavors a day, but they always have vanilla. Two flavors may seem limiting, but with all of the toppings and options you can get you are not missing out on variety.

I've been going to Adele's for years and it is fairly consist decent Frozen Custard. It is better than Culvers, for sure; but I am frequently disappointed when I go. A lot of times, there are ice chunks in my custard, I think, because they don't let the scoop drain long enough after they rinse it off. The flavors are good, but they could certainly expand the flavor menu (rotating daily flavors) to make it more interesting. Finally, I am often disappointed by the portions they deliver for the price.

Just ok. Not a good value. Smelled liked a sour mop when I walked in. In my opinion, You're better off getting a quart at the grocery store.

Frozen Custard that flavors change daily. Great little place outside of downtown excelsior to just sit back have a sweet treat and watch the world go by. Try the frozen lemonade and hot dogs over the lunch hour they are great.

Stopped by Adele's the other night and it was worth the wait in the drive thru line! I got the chocolate malt yogurt this time vs the custard and did not expect much but it was amazing! I actually asked to make sure that it was yogurt vs custard, I could not believe how rich and thick it was. I also added chocolate malt balls as a special treat and that made it even yummier (if that is a word). My whole family loves it there...its a great classic and never disappoints.

Ill take two (maybe three) scoops of Adele's Chocolate Raspberry Truffle frozen custard, anyday. Adele's, you are rather perfect, especially in the summertime, when I'm craving your delicious ice cream! Located in Excelsior, Adele's is just walking distance from Lake Minnetonka. They have over 80 flavors of custard, yet they only make a few flavors a day, to keep everything fresh. I've spent many nights on their patio, and have even gone the drive through route as well. Ice cream, drive through style.. seriously, how cool is that? Note: You can custom order flavors (1 gallon or more), if you're craving something not on their daily menu. Strawberry Shortcake, German Chocolate Cake, and French Silk Pie, are ones I need to try (& possibly order) next.

Fabulous little spot for tastey, creamy custard! They offer different flavors on different days throughout the month. Can't beat it when craving a cool treat.

I love Custard and prefer it to ice cream so being new to the MPLS area I was concerned I wouldn't find any excellent custard. I was delightfully wrong. The atmosphere was perfect for hanging out and enjoying some custard. The teenage staff was very friendly and quick with their service. Most importantly, the custard was excellent.

Adele's is soooooooo delicious. MMM! The custard is just so incredibly amazing I crave it and run straight there when I get back in town. I always order too much and feel super full after eating there, but it is worth it!

Even with my lactose intolerant digestive system, I can never avoid a good ice cream place. To me, it's worth the flatulence, upset stomach and other undesirable side effects. My wife, well she's never too happy when she's in the car after a run to an ice cream vendor or malt shop. She tolerates it...because she loves me or because she loves ice cream just as much as I do. I'm glad to say that Adele's Frozen Custard is a great place to feel the pain of a lactose intolerant tummy. Their soft serve frozen custard is creamy and cools you down on a hot summer afternoon. My wife had a simple scoop cradled by a crunchy waffle cone. I had caramel drizzled over my scoop of dreaminess. Outdoor seating. Away from the Excelsior crowd. Good place to top off the a day of shopping, boating and eating on Excelsior. The car ride back was no fun for my wife.

Been going to Adele's for about 20 years. Its changed owners, prices are higher. And I still think its the best Frozen Custard. Especially like Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, special flavor offered a few times per month and always as a sundae. Also like pulled pork on bun or pita bread. Also, serves frozen yogurt. Both made on site.

Delicious! I have been going to Adele's for over 20 years, and I LOVE it. The turtle sundae has remained my favorite throughout the decades. I usually sit on the deck to eat my treat since I don't want to wait to enjoy it. The drive-thru can be a bit slow, but it's not McDonald's. I can't remember ever having eaten the food because I get too excited about the custard!

You'll find Adele's Frozen Custard nestled within the serene lakeside city of of Excelsior, Minnesota. I really like Adele's because it's off of the beaten path here. You actually have to walk a little ways to get to it from the heart of the tiny town. It's an actual destination and not something you just walk past. Adele's is the perfect first stop on your weekend day trip to Excelsior. One of the great little secrets of Minneapolis. Pull into the drive-through and order a frozen custard and then drive to the little downtown and enjoy the little shops as the fresh summer breeze comes in off the lake as the sun hits your shoulders. One taste of Adele's frozen custard and you'll know that life is good. I recommend the Turtle Sundae although you honestly can't go wrong with anything here. The really great thing about Adele's is not only can you order through the drive-through but you can also order inside from one of the friendly employees then sit on the lovely patio and just take a deep breath and enjoy the day as it passes by. The vibe is great, you'll love this place, thank me later.

I love this place. It is the best frozen yogurt place in the twin cities. It is located in the quaint town of excelsior next to the McDonald's. If you are looking for a small place with great service for a quick meal and a great dessert, this is the place you need to go check out.

We really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the ice cream here. The patio was very nice, and that bungalow building gave this place kind of like a small town hang out feeling. I tried the chocolate raspberry truffle and coconut frozen custard. Between the two, I like the former better. It had very nice flavor combination but not too overly sweet. The coconut was also nice, smooth, and not too sweet but i didnt think the coconut flavor was totally there. I guess what I liked the most about the ice cream here was that it was not too sweet so it was very enjoyable. My bf got the turtle sundae and he absolutely loved it. If we lived closer to the place, we would have come here more often.

I would walk a few miles to obtain even a single scoop of Adele's creamy frozen treats. And since I only live a few miles from Adele's that makes this easy. It also helps me burn some of calories I just consumed. Daily flavor specials makes this place perfect for people like me, who are constantly wanting to try something new. They have a flavor calender on their website so you can premeditate your custard consumption. Best Flavors: Peach, Butter Pecan, Pistachio, Rum Cherry, Honey Almond, Chocolate Amaretto, Blue Moon, Banana Royale, and Lemon Chiffon.

Come because you're stuck in Excelsior; stay because it's impossible to find a better club sandwich and call-your-own shake for $7.50. Anywhere.

Chancing upon one of the rare opportunities to snag a "first to review" honor, I had to seize the moment! As my coworker and I hunted around for some post-dinner ice cream offerings, this place came up in the search result. Located about 20 minutes away from Eden Prairie, Adele's Frozen Custard Old Fashion Ice cream is housed in a wooden house with outdoor seats aplenty and a drive thru! When we first arrived at 8:15pm or so, the place was already busy taking orders. By the time 8:30pm struck, the parking lot was full and the drive thru had a line. All this for the Frozen Custards. For those wondering what Frozen Custards are, here's a link to the wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fr… . Without insulting this dessert, it's basically ice cream that's richer and sweeter. The concretes came in a pretty large serving and I really couldn't finish it. It's fairly impressive because there's a machine that's churning out the frozen custard right in the store. They also offer frozen yogurts too. Next thing to note is that they have a full schedule of the different special flavors of the day. You'd need a calendar to keep up with all those flavors. I think the ice cream may have been a bit too heavy for me, so I'm going to go for the frozen yogurt next time...

Stopped for a cone Wednesday, second one of the season. When I got the first I noted it was the smallest I had ever received there... until Wed. Prices are up, cones are smaller and the custard was really soft (runny). Used to be a favorite but...

It had been a year--at least--since we were last here. Driving on the opposite side of the lake, we fixed our path directly to Adele's in Excelsior. Remembering and reciting our past favorite flavors of the day, we wondered what flavors awaited us. Surprisingly there was only one car ahead of us. (You can go inside for tables, eat in your car, or take it to go.) We did the drive through. Eagerly we read the day's flavor postings: French Toast; Dirt and Worms, Gooey Cluster, and one not so memorable. We enjoyed one of each and weren't disappointed. The Worms & Dirt were crushed Oreo's with gummy worms and quite tasty. French Toast was a french vanilla base with Swirls of cinnamon and pieces of cinnamon bread. The favorite was Gooey Cluster which was a chocolate malt base with chocolate swirl and peanuts--in reverence to the "Nut-Gooey Cluster" candy. My all-time favorite was Concord Grape Custard, but I only found it one time! Flavors change quite often and they clearly haven't lost their culinary playfulness! Go-on. You owe it to yourself.....

You haven't been to Minnesota if you don't try frozen custard, and you haven't had frozen custard if you haven't been to Adele's.
