Joey Nova’s

Joey Nova's pizza is delicious! The chef is outstanding & manager Anna attentive, hard working, and one of the most thoughtful person we've ever met. With great beers on tap - we love the slice & beer combo! We love to take the 4 & 5yo bowling at Country Club Lanes, then over to Joey Nova's. This little date is one of their favorites!
Three cheers for awesome service! My vegetable pizza slice had some sausage on it. Not only did they replace the it, but they gave me a token for another slice free! :)
Update - my mother (who purchased the pizza) has reached out to then and has not been able to get ahold of them because they won't respond. We have reported the glove pizza to the health inspector.

Adele’s Frozen Custard

800 Excelsior Blvd
Excelsior, 55331
Reviews:
This is the best custard that I have had since I lived in Wisconsin! It was located inside what looked like someone's house and it was adorable. I love getting sundaes and I tried the Truffle. Many places will put the ice cream/custard in massive amounts and then a slight bit of toppings. Not here. Every bite from start to finish had raspberries, chocolate chunks, and fudge. In short, amazing!
What a great little shop. I was out with my family one evening at Maynards and we happened upon adele's. The kids got excited and my wife and I caved. Fortunately, no one was dissapointed. My wife and I had the bannana split and each of my kids picked a scoop of their choice. There were even a few benches outside and we had a nice, family evening enjoying delicious ice cream. We just moved to the area and we already have a favorite family spot!
Custard was not nearly as good as Michael's (in Wisconsin). Sandwiches were a little dry and nothing special. Spendy for what it is.

Yumi’s Sushi Bar

217 Water St
Excelsior, 55331
Reviews:
The sushi was awesome, but the service was terribly slow. I went in for a quick bite at the sushi bar and it took me a half hour to get my order. The person beside me had to ask for chop sticks. I had to ask for a napkin and soy sauce. Awesome food, but they really need to kick the service up a notch. If you have plenty of time and don't mind looking at your food once you finally get it while you wait for chop sticks I highly recommend this place.
Hands down best sushi in the Twin Cities. The cuts of fish are twice as thick as most other places. Great atmosphere. Excellent service.
Wow wow wow! I enjoyed my wonderful time at Yumi's, my last time there was with my gf for our anniversary and I gotta say it was extremely incredible! I had the Lollipop roll and it was so amazing, it almost knocked off Tiger sushi off my all-time Minneapolis favorite list (it may even have done it already!). Let's just say it was wonderful. The service was really good, our waiter was very attentive to our water and drinks and always stopped by to ask how everything was, they didn't charge for the miso which is always a plus, especially when it is oh so yummy! Food was great! I tried mah' lady's crunchy roll which was really good so I was overall impressed by it. I did go there a few months ago and last time I wasn't as impressed as I was this time so Bravo!

It's pretty standard pizza. I would definitely not pick this over Joey Nova's. I think they had some sort of cheeseburger pizza that was really good. But it's overall very standard.

Lago Tacos

Reviews:
I cannot believe this is rated a 3.5 stars. The service is great, food is fresh and creative...quiet yourself you self-proclaimed food critics. It's great, authentic, fresh food a half block from Lake Minnetonka in beautiful downtown Excelsior. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention their house margs that are fantastic. Oh, and I'm 6'6". I'm NEVER hungry after leaving there...just trying to figure out how miserable I'm going to be after getting a scoop at Lick's during the summer months.
Great food and service. Only downside here was the cost. It's a little spendy for 3 small tacos. Great flavor and options though!
Ok so I was excited to see a Mexican restaurant in Excelsior when we first moved here, however I've been disappointed on several occasions when eating here. First, the food. I had the chicken tinga tacos - they were tacos smothered in a heavy tomato based salsa. There are so many different ways to make tinga, but these just didn't hit it. It tasted like they drowned their tacos in the salsa they serve with their chips - not good. Second time I ate here I had fish tacos which completely fell apart with their sauce, it was too messy to enjoy. Lastly, the service at the bar was great. They were fast and friendly. When we sat at a booth however, our waitress was really rude! She was hurrying us through our order and seemed irritated that we were there. Oh well!

The Suburban

Reviews:
The Suburban is great! The food has almost always come out quickly, and it's always fresh and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. They focus on using local food and drink, and they have fresh beef so they don't even have a freezer. I feel like that even though it's moderately expensive, they are very worthwhile. I wish I could afford to go there more!
House made black bean patties. Upbeat vibe with modern music. Definitely one of my favorite places in Excelsior.
Went at lunch on a Monday, place pretty dead. Server very friendly. Burgers big , tasty but nothing to write home about. The pizza was ugg....a very raw tasting tomato sauce that spoiled the pie, needed more cheese, too. Oddly enough, the best thing was their desserts. The tiramisu, house made, is the best in the Cities. The salted caramel brownie sundae (featuring Sebastian Joe's ice cream) was a-okay too. The happy hour drink prices were excellent for Excelsior.

Went here on March 18th, which seemed name appropriate. The restaurant is located in charming downtown Excelsior, in the summer this is a fun town to walk around. The ambiance is very sunny, simple, and not too crowded. Food is also 5/5. I had the pear- blue cheese salad with added prosciutto, which I would recommend. Great dressing-green-goodies ratio and taste. Others at my table had a flatbread and turkey sandwich- both gave their meal 5/5 as well. I'll be coming back.
Never disappoints, great salads, sandwiches, good wine, lattes made to perfection ! Great for ladies night out or lunch/dinner with kids! Always friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Your perfect local small town establishment!!!
We stopped in one afternoon recently for a quick sit on the patio and a bite to eat. To be honest, I wasn't expecting a whole lot and it was better than I expected. Still, it wasn't perfect. I suspected we might be in trouble when our waitress knew pretty much nothing about the beer on tap. The beer list is not extensive -- there are maybe a half dozen tap beers. But she didn't know what the seasonals were, and the menu was printed in such a vague way "Indeed seasonal" that we were forced to ask. She could not answer a single beer question without running into the bar to ask. Foodwise, we got the pork nachos, which were light on the pork and one big glop of melted cheese. They were average I would say. My BLT was also pretty standard, and I was surprised that it was not even an option to order fries. Chips or bust. My husband got the beet salad, which was probably the best thing on the table. A nice generous portion of beets and a very tasty salad. In all, the food quality was better than I thought it would be, and the patio seating is lovely on a nice day. But service was lacking and the food was not memorable or craveable enough to spark a return visit any time soon.
