Great burgers, fries & onion rings! Unbeatable prices. Awesome server.
This bar feels like home to me (I'm from a small town). It's another one of those places that's old and dive-y and a little run down, but SO CLEAN (see Flameburger). Our server was like everyone's mom. There was the aura of compassion just radiating from her - when we ordered something that had been 86-ed, she seemed really genuinely upset about it. It was cute. Anywho, we both ordered burgers and beer, and they were burgers and beer. The burgers were good. They weren't like the best burgers in the world, but they were good. And there's the bonus perk of the grill and fryer being right behind the bar, so you never have to worry about extra sauce on your burger, if you know what I mean (no matter how much that lady in the next booth over deserves it).
Great burgers and nicely prepared tater tots. The French fries looked very good also but did it try. I would come back for the food and good service. A great little neighborhood bar. I hope the neighborhood keeps supporting this place!

We had amazing curry basil fried rice(best tasted in a long time), chicken satay skewers, and po-tak soup! Everything was fresh! Service was amazing! First time in new location still delicious!
Truth, baby! We all know how much I love Karta Thai at their original location on Central Ave NE, however - this was my first time at their Columbia Heights location, also on Central Ave. Since I already knew the menu and all the items I love to order at Karta, I went ahead and got that amazing Green Curry with Shrimp. That creamy coconut spicy goodness, loaded with eggplant and basil leaves, and comes with a mini-mountain of jasmine rice. This time I also tried their new Crispy Thai Lobster rolls. Filled with avocado, cream cheese and lobster, these are so delicious that you hardly need the sweet and sour dipping sauce, but it's so good you just can't help yourself! Since I was on a roll and we were ordering a bunch of different dishes for the table, we got a Thom Kha soup with chicken. Creamy hot and sour coconut soup with lemongrass, chicken, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, cilantro and lime leaves. WOW. I found a new favorite! We also got some of their Beef and Shrimp Pad Thai. This could have had more spice, but we asked for Spice Level 2 and usually that's pretty spicy. It tasted more sweet than hot. (I have other favorite places to go to for my Pad Thai fix and these places are located in St. Paul. Well actually on University Ave to be exact, in the best neighborhood for Asian comfort food, oh what the heck - fine - Bangkok Cuisine come to mama!) And the best thing about this place: leftovers for days. One meal here can stretch into 2 or 3. So if you're on a budget, this place is very economical. Some of us have kids. And husbands. Karta Thai has it sorted out and that's what makes it a great place for everyone! I hope they stay in this area and never ever leave us, ever.
This is my second time here. We have now tried 4 meals and 2 apps and ALL has been absolutely amazing. We have also sat inside and out and both spots are fantastic. Staff is great as well! I really REALLY enjoy this place!

New York Gyro

Celebratory meal. After a 58.5 hr week on location, we decided to try this little hidden gem. Chicken Tikka Masala.... Excellence! Flavor and just the right amount of heat. My other half got the Combo Platter. The flavor combo of spiced meat, pickled veggies, and tzaziki sauce was heaven.. The Naan was like charred clouds of pleasure. The guy working the counter was very charming and enthusiastic. It was an excellent meal for a really good price. We will go back soon.
Price: Less than $10 a plate Food: 5 out of 5 Décor: 2 out of 5 Wait / Serving Staff: 4 out of 5 I can not say enough good things about NY Gyro. I went to their St. Cloud location about a year ago and was not impressed, but I am a huge fan of this NY Gyro location. Their food is hands down amazing! Do the gyro of course, but honestly, the chicken tikka is a must. They slice their gyro meat differently than most U.S. gyros. They cube their meat rather than "shave" it. The chicken tikka is served on a bed of rice and is not dry at all. Classic hole in the wall: The property is pretty dated in its decor. Fresh paint has helped but not much. For all of its faults in the decor department, I don't feel like any health codes are being violated when I am in their property. As an aside, I have been here multiple times, and I can't find a public bathroom. Just as a heads up! The servers / wait staff are very friendly. As a non-ethnic Pakistani, I do feel a little weird being in an environment that that is littered with Islamic references, but the wait staff make up for it. I even had one gentlemen be so kind as to mark off three punches at one time when I bought one gyro. I haven't quite all of their names yet, but each of the guys are great. For Muslims, I was impressed that they do a buffet during Ramadan (after sunset). For a fast-food / quick sit-down, hole-in-the-wall restaurant, it doesn't get much better than this.
The food is truly amazing and worth the money. Chicken tikka over rice is yummy plus don't forget the samosa. I was waiting for this restaurant to open in Minneapolis area since the time they opened in st.cloud. I will definitely recommend this and will go back again. Ambience n location not so cool but the good food compensates for all these issues.

I've been here a number of times over the years and I've yet to be disappointed. They have excellent burgers and steaks. My girlfriend loves their oriental salad. On Monday nights they have bar bingo that is also a lot of fun. I've never had the chance to sit out at their patio yet but it looks really nice and it's something I'm looking forward to at a future visit. It's not necessarily the cheapest restaurant around, but if you're looking for something that is a step up from Perkins-Quality restaurants and you in the Columbia Heights area this is one of my first recommendations.
I like this place. Its a little over priced but pretty good food. I had Cuban Pot roast. It was good but didnt deliver the garlic or cumin flavor they advertised. My dad had a whiskey burger. It was also good, but didnt seem to have any whiskey sauce as advertised. The Strawberry salad was real good, as it should be for 13 bucks. The best thing we had were the Pierogis in butter with fried onions. Dang those are good!
What a great little gem in Columbia Heights. We had a groupon so ventured down to check it out. Great menu with everything from sandwiches to juicy lucy burgers to full on dinners. I had a walleye sandwhich with sweet potato waffle fries, yum. My boyfriend had prime rib and what a hunk of meat that was with a salad and baked potato. Great drink menu too with lots of specialty cocktails including martinis resonably priced. I had the gobstopper martini and great layered number and a dragon's breath. Liked the dark wood interior. Our only complaint is that we ended up right next to the way too brightly lit waiter station. If they dimmed the light from a 100 watt to about 60 it would make it more pleasant for all the diners around. We also made a reservation for friday night and when we walked in at 7:30 there was about 15 people waiting that we went right in front of to our table. Worth checking out.

We have had issues with the EXTREMELY poor customer service attitude of the manager, who seems to be the one primarily answering the phone for orders. However, we decided to give them another shot. Ordering wasn't an issue this time. However, when the order arrived, rather than ring the doorbell to the apartment complex, the driver called the cell number used to place the order to say that the pizza had arrived. When my wife went down to get the pizza, the delivery driver had not even gotten out of the car, but instead, through his closed window, made some gestures. When my wife indicated that she didn't understand, he rolled down the window and said, "Do you have a pen?" (to sign the credit card receipt). She said no, and he said, "Well, you're going to need one." As a result, she had to trudge back through the apartment complex and back up to the apartment to get one. Irritated with the poor attitude and lack of preparedness of the driver, she did not include a tip, instead telling the delivery driver after signing the receipt, "Keep the pen, it's your tip." About 15 minutes later, the delivery driver called back on her cell phone and said, "I didn't appreciate the pen or standing in your front yard," and hung up.
I love this pizza! We order it at our office all the time - both for internal meetings and customer visits. We've had returning customers request it when they come back, so you know it's good.
I love thin crust and this doesn't disappoint. Cheese, crust and toppings are 5 star. Sauce is 4 star.

I love Sonic for fast food. I got the blue raspberry slush. I like the slush drinks because they last. Cheddar poppers are my weakness here. I like the burgers and how they wrap them. I won't get the super thick shakes too often, and didn't this time, kind of hard to handle. I went to use the bathroom and the door was locked. They forgot about it when they opened, also didn't notice that the toilet seat handle was broken off. I like this location because it's part of the hood, and they have a lot of shade.
I love Sonic. However, this particular store, not so much. They made my ocean water with club soda, not Sprite. I asked for no cheese, no onions, but all of the condiments. I got a cheeseburger with onions and only ketchup. We ordered 2 juice boxes but one was without a straw. And to top it all off, my kids did not receive a toy or treat with their kids meal, but a coupon for a free ice cream cone that expired last year! Don't stop eating at Sonic, just stop eating at this one. I gave it 2 stars for the nice guy who was working the drive through window. That's all it has going for it.
3 strike's your out !, if you like cold food and dried buns this place is for you, i have been to sonic 3 times sense they have opened and the same cold meat inside dry stale buns
