Stopped here on the way home from a vacation, I had the sweet sampler breakfast which was great. My son had a personal pizza that had a nice pan crust. And my husband had the Monte Cristo, it was pretty good. The fries were good. They had a salad bar that looked pretty good and a bunch of homemade pies I would have liked to try. service was good. Food came really fast which I appreciate with two kids.
Went there and was sat immediately, but they put us in a dirty table... I said screw it cause I was starving and ordered the eggs Benedict with ham and it was decent but chewy lol. I couldn't stomach the rest so I opted out for some strawberry rhubarb pie with a scoop of ice cream, I so regret it. I swear that pie was the texture of raw asparagus and I feel extremely sick from it /: Next time I will go there if I'm constipated.
Taking a break from cabin cooking, we enjoyed a very solid breakfast here one busy Saturday morning. Skip the overpriced, nasty looking breakfast buffet, and instead look to the menu. Everything we ordered was well executed. My sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly to order. Bacon was thick, flavorful and neither under nor overdone. Rhubarb french toast offered an interesting twist on the usual. Also on offer were wild rice breakfast sausages, clearly locally sourced, and very good at that. Service was friendly. Our food arrived almost instantly after we ordered it. I'd eat breakfast here over Perkins or the nearby fast food options any day.

the bakery, sandwich shoppe and pizza are awesome........the restaurant is average...the service overall is kind of surly....seems like a theme in rural mn.

My work schedule found me in the area, and... even though the area is a little remote for my taste... I was happy to have found D&L Taco Gringo. Located a block off the highway, it's a great place to hit if you are travelling on I-94 and don't have a taste for a normal, run-of-the-mill fast food joint. I enjoyed the Taco Combo (fish taco's) with the Cucumber Salsa. Good stuff. The combo came with 2 flour tortilla fried fish tacos (Cod fish, I think?) with fantastically fresh tasting ingredients with a healthy drizzle of their "Taco Gringo Southwest Sauce." The combo also provided a healthy portion of white rice and a decent serving of chips. The chips were good (somewhere between homemade and real good bagged chips) and the rice was good (really, how do you screw up rice?). The southwest sauce IS pretty amazing. They give you an extra cup of sauce... seemingly, cuz they know you'll want more. The lady taking our order (very nice lady, by the way) informed me that the sauce is sold at some # of grocery stores (locally). The place, itself we found a little chilly... but the people prepping and cooking were all in shorts. Either I, from Chicago, don't appreciate real cold like in MN... or the kitchen area is a ton warmer than the eating area. My suggestions for this place would be to... 1. Warm up the place in the winter (maybe I was there on an off day?)... 2. Corn tortillas for the tacos... at least offer em! ... 3. Where's the refried beans?? :) 4. I didn't notice guac on the menu, either! That's all I got. Can't be too picky, though. This place was tastey... the people were nice... and it had a great location. Other than my propensity to over utilize parenthesis... I hope you enjoyed my review. Thanks, fellow Yelp'ers for helping me find this fine fast dining establishment.
Quick stop on the way to UND. Always prefer an independent restaurant over a chain and this place does not disappoint. Southwest burrito was really good, and my husband had the chimichangas. Lots of food, but not too much meat in the chimis. Southwest sauce is pretty good, but do not expect heat with the "salsa with heat". There is hot sauce readily available. Will definitely stop next time we are going through.
Chicken burritos are excellent southwest sauce great. Staff is fast and friendly. Food is fresh and made fast.
