Gyropolis Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I'm from the Chicago area. So this is fair warning to anyone who has had gyros done right. In any decent gyros joint around Chicago, the meat will be carved fresh off the spit for each sandwich (and maybe tossed on a hot grill) to make sure one side of each piece is crisp and the other juicy. At Gyropolis they carve it constantly and dump it in a steam table tray. The meat is standard commercial stuff like Kronos. That's fine, but the way they handle it you end up with a pita full of mushy grey meat. I guess this what other reviews mean by "tender." I fell for the reviews. I'm sorry, dearly beloved locals, it could be so much better.

Surprisingly good for an unassuming setting. The pitas were good quality, even if not freshly made. What impressed me was the speedy, friendly service and the high quality vegetables, which are usually the weakness of this type of shop. I had the veggie lover's gyro, which trades some of the gyro meat for a greater variety and quantity of fresh vegetables. This suited me quite well. I also tried some of the hummus and falafel, which were also quite good. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the servings are quite well sized. The pitas may not look that big, but they are fully stuffed.

I ordered a gyro platter and some seasoned fries to go. I thought the gyro meat had a good and balanced flavor and seasoning. I got there about an hour before they were closing, so i think they just had some meat carved on the side. It's probably even better when it comes directly off the gyro machine. I'm not sure why they couldn't give me the spicy gyro meat for the platter, but they did offer me some of the spicy sauce on the side. It wasn't really spicy though, so I wish it had more of a kick to it. The greek salad was what you would typically expect, the rice was good as well. I do wish the pita bread was more warm and if it was crispier. Overall though, the prices and amount of food you get is very reasonable. I'd definitely visit this place again!

The spicy gyro is, quite simply, the best gyro I've come across in Minneapolis, and may have dethroned Nupa in Rochester as the best gyro I've had in the Midwest. Some of the freshest veggies I've had outside a farmer's market or straight off the vine, and the meat was tender and juicy. The pita was light while still having a palpable bite to it and tasted like it had just come out of the oven. The real winner here is that spicy cucumber sauce, though. Spicy and refreshing all at the same time, and a perfect compliment to every ingredient. You get a crazy amount of food for dirt cheap, and to top it all off, they had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies during my last visit. It was still warm, gooey, and slightly chewy as I devoured it. Perfection. My only complaint is that there isn't a location closer to Uptown. I'd be here everyday.

Very good quick Greek food off the I 494 The lamb and beef gyro is tasty. One of us had the gyro sandwich that was loaded with meat and tatziki sauce. I had the gyro plate that was loaded with meat and Greek salad The owner gave us some potatoes that were amazingly moist and well seasoned And the price with drinks is under 10 dollars a person Worth coming here

Easy to get to in Bloomington and ample of parking. It's not even lunch hour and there's a line at the order counter. There's a great variety to the gyros menu, but I'm pretty simple the way I like mine - gyro beef & grilled onions. The onions are not pre grilled so it took them a couple minutes to grill onions on spot for my order. At check out the cashier says my order is $7 and something cents, I was surprised, that much for a very basic or simple gyro. When I inquired on how it was $7 he rolls his eyes, scoff and states that any create your owns are $7. Ridiculous. The size of the gyro is decent. My final thoughts: overpriced for just the gyro, no sides or drinks with that.

I was impressed with my first visit here. The food was very good, as was the service, but we found it to be unexpectedly pricey.

I love the spicy gyro, it so good!! The service was a little lackluster but it was pretty busy when I got there.

Best Gyros in the Cities! I get the Gyropolis, as they add romaine lettuce and some feta cheese to the basic gyro.

  • Benjamin Y.

Very busy during lunch time. I got the Gryoworks with the Spicy Cucumber sauce. It was delicious! The sauce was actually spicy which I like. The gyro meat was nice juicy and tender. My only complaint was that the onions and lettuce were cut too large and the fries were a big soggy. Otherwise the Gryos was delicious.

  • D M.

The positive reviews must only be for the lamb. The chicken pita is just not good. It was tasteless and the chicken was not served hot. The sauces were kind of blah as well. I don't think I want to return to try anything else. Service was quick and friendly.

Amazing. Always impressed. Best Gyros, tried the gyro pizza today and it was fabulous! Left with a freshly made cookie that I'm still munching on. You can't go wrong!!

my favorite spot and holds close to my heart, the building used to be my family's old donut shop. best gyros in MN! I've tried everything on the menu except the pizza. Spicy gyro is by far the favorite for myself and among-st my family and friends. bloomington's best kept secret :)

Yum! This place is definitely the best Greek food I've eaten. One heads up is they are closed on Sunday. The other 6 days it's SO worth going! They have great reviews on here & I see why!

I have been coming to Minneapolis for years on business and am sorry to say that I have only just discovered this amazing gyro place that sits just a couple miles from my office. First of all, this spot has limited hours, so make sure to plan your visit carefully. It closes at 3pm on Saturday and is closed all day on Sunday. Secondly, this it gets as crowded as a NY subway station at lunch time, so, unless you are prepared to eat in your car, you may want to consider an off peak time. Now on to the real star - the food! The pita is warm and soft. Healthy portions of meat. Maybe because it is busy enough that they go through cones quickly, but the gyro meat was the most tender and juicy gyro meat I have ever had. The tomatoes were fresh and the onions had a nice bit. I strongly recommend that you go with the spicy cucumber sauce - unique, spicy, and delicious. I ordered the gyropolis and substituted spicy cucumber sauce for regular. The fries were fine and they serve Pepsi products. I ordered a small side of spicy hummus to dip my fries on. Gyropolis - I will see you again .... SOON.

$14 Lunch and I'm still hungry. Not sure how these guys have such a high rating? After reading reviews I was excited to check these guys out. Stopped for lunch on a Friday. Ordered Gyro Salad, side Falafel and a drink. Gyro meat on salad - about 3 slices, and it was room temp. Very little feta on salad too. Mostly lettuce, not at al filling for $9. Falafel had decent flavor but were undercooked & doughy inside. I'm giving them 2 stars because ingredients were fresh, good quality, and service was somewhat friendly, but that's about it. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things?? Don't think I'll try again.

It is a family run operation. A Greek family. The food is quite tasty and a good value. Did I mention the food is quite tasty? I crave the Meat Lovers Gyro ordered spicy. Extra spicy. Closed Saturday night and all day Sunday. You have to respect family run operations that do that. This place is about Food and Family.

I've been a long time fan of Dino's Gyros but a coworker of my suggested that I give this place a try and I'm glad I did. I went for lunch on a weekday and it was super busy. The tiny parking lot could not accommodate all of the customer's cars so I had to park in the Burger King lot next door. The line for food was out to the door and there wasn't an open seat to be found in the place so we decided to take our food to go. I ordered the same thing that I get when I go to Dino's: a small gyro with lettuce (my Greek friend laughs at this but I like the crunchy texture it adds) and seasoned fries. Wow - the gyro was incredible, even better than Dino's but their seasoned fries weren't anything special. The seasoning appeared to be just paprika which added a nice color but no additional flavor. I will definitely return but maybe during a non peak time.

Gyropolis is the best little gyro shop secret that Bloomington has to offer! The staff is polite & outgoing, the menu is clean, simple, and easy to read. The gyros run right around $8.00 each . The Pita Chips were f**king awesome! They aren't your traditional crunchy triangle ones, they were rectangular, and a little cruchy and a little soft, which I loved! I don't know if they are always like that, but they were fantastic when dipped in a side of hummus! You get a generous portion of pita chips for the price, that's a huge selling point with me! I will be a returning customer for sure!

  • Maddi D.

The only thing that is good about gyropolis is the food. But other than that, the experience is always uncomfortable. The owners are incredibly cheap and rude. My boyfriend and I never feel welcomed when we go there, they make us feel as if we are inconveniencing them by walking in their restaurant. The old woman is the worst, she yells at you if you try and add anything different to the gyros, and tries to shame you for ordering your food the way you want it. They nickel and dime you for every extra scrap of food they put on your order. $1.25 for a couple extra pieces of meat?! The owners of gyropolis should be more focused on the overall satisfaction of the customer!

  • Ed N.

Been here quite a few times now and love it! I get the same thing every time so that is kind of bad but it is so good why branch out!? I am a fan of the spicy gyro, the spicy cucumber sauce makes it great, great flavor, great heat just awesome. Every time I go I tell myself to get two gyros and skip the fries, haven't done it yet, maybe next time. If there are any negatives it's there isn't a ton of seating so if you don't go early you may not get a table. The other negative is that the secret is out and this place is always packed over lunch. Overall it's great and is definitely part of the work lunch rotation, if they could only open one closer to where I live... If you like Greek food, it's worth a try and the wait!

Great resturant; we had lunch. The line moved along very well. Portions where fine, workers where friendly, food tasted wonderful. The only thing I think was missing was the white Greek hats for the workers.

  • Glenn L.

Please bring back the ORIGINAL spanakopita (spinach pie!) You know the ones I'm talking about with several golden brown layers of flaky phyllo dough, kept fresh and hot in a heated case next to the register. Please get rid of your current version which has virtually no discernible phyllo (and certainly nothing flaky) and is sliced in large rectangles and stuffed into a covered plastic bin where it proceeds to get so soggy and lifeless it can't even be resuscitated by a required turn in the convection oven. Sadly, you used to serve one of BEST spanakopitas in the Twin Cities!!

Now that Wally's is no longer on the block, the locals all go to Gyropolis. I wish it would have been around when Lincoln High was still a school, the bear would be delighted. I grew up in the neighborhood and it was formerly a Winchell's donut shop when I was growing up. The Athenian, Spicy Gyro, The Olympian, Gyro Philly, Meatlovers Gyro are all favorites of mine. I recommend splitting a couple of these with someone else to try them all. Only downside is the place is small and its always busy. It can be tough at times to find a table and awkward standing next to a table with someone eating and waiting for a table. Come at an odd time if possible otherwise plan on taking it to go. Parking can also be a hassle.

  • Tom B.

Best Gyros in town! Falafel is also very good. This is a monthly destination, and we have never been disappointed. Spanakopita is OK, I would skip it and get extra falafel.

Best meat lovers pita pizza. I would also suggest the roasted Greek potatoes if they are not gone already. Very friendly family run restaurant.

  • Dwight C.

Thought the food was awesome, except the serving was a little small. I was still hungry after my Gyro and that usually doesn't happen at other place. But I'll go back again, just because it was good.

My wife and I slipped into this small joint in Bloomington on a recommendation. There was a line of about 12 people at the ordering counter, so we knew we had a winner.Winner.Chicken dinner. I found a table while my wife ordered a spicy gyro combo for me with a small Greek salad and a soda. She got a side of pitas and lentil soup. The pita was perfect size and had lots of gyro meat and a wonderfully spicy sauce with lots of tomatoes and onions and was just perfect! The spiciness was just enough to say "Hello!, guess what, I am spicy!" The gyro meat was flavorful lamb and pork mixed together. My wife had a fat free cucumber sauce to dip he pita bread into, it was super wonderful. I tried a bite of the lentil soup and it was full of beans and you could tell it was home made. There was even a bay leaf in there to pick out. The whole bill was $12 too, nice! I would be surprised if they don't open more locations of this place, super busy for a reason. It was AWESOME!

  • Jason K.

Gyropolis has the feel of a casual, quick service restaurant but the quality is top notch. Nice, hot pita bread and the lamb is juicy and flavorful. The parking lot was packed at 2:30 so it speaks volumes of its popularity. The meat lover's Gyro was delicious and was an interesting, Americanized hybrid of pepperoni pizza and traditional Gyro. Yum! Friendly staff and quick in and out. I will certainly be returning.

Great spot for lunch! I can easily see myself working Gyroplis into a regular lunch rotation just to mix up the typical submarine or burrito routine that I normally do with my office friends. I really liked the Spicy Gyro which was a steal for $6.50 without a side. It comes on a super soft, decently big, piece of pita bread and is filled with warm lamb and topped with fresh green bell peppers, crunchy red onions and a spicy cucumber sauce. It was definitely enough to fill you up without fries, but I did steal one off a friends plate and they had some pretty tasty seasoning on them. If you have time to wait in line, it's busy for a reason and you won't regret it!

A great lunch spot in Bloomington! I had the chicken philly gyro and it was to die for! I am definitely going to be coming back to this place next time I'm in town for work!

  • Kitri S.

This place knows what it's doing. Not much for dinner atmosphere, but a very clean and cute gyro shop. Who expects a dining atmosphere when grabbing gyros, anyway? Food is far and away better than any of the hole-in-the-wall gyro joints I've been to. Service is great. I'm a loyal customer!

  • Amanda M.

The freshest pita bread I have ever had the pleasure of inhaling. Fries are nicely crisped and seasoned. They do not skimp on the meat. Free refills make mama happy.

This neighborhood restaurant has been a standby for us for many years. We have tried at least half of the menu items and haven't found a bad one yet. Service is prompt and friendly, value is good for the prices. Great vegetarian, salad, and platter options for lighter meals. Avoid the lunch hour.

On the advice of Yelp, I showed up for the best gyro in the Twin Cities. I found it! Fresh veggies, tender and juicy gyro meat. And the spicy tzatziki? They're not kidding. This isn't Minnesota spicy, this is for real spicy. I went through three napkins, two were used solely to wipe my running nose. I loved it. The space is super clean, and the line is laid out efficiently. The pita bread was cooked to perfection, and the sandwich was big enough to feed two. I snagged a piece of baklava for later and nibbled on it later that night. Sadly, that was the only disappointment. It was cooked perfect, and not too gooey, but I think the nuts in that batch were rancid, because the taste was off. If nuts are chopped too far in advance of cooking, this is a common result. I'd give it another try since other reviewers enjoyed it. Probably just an off day for that one dish. Can't wait to try the fries next time, when I do, I'll bring a friend because I can't imagine eating that much food by myself.

Aristotle once said, "well begun is half done." Lets just say that I am well begun with the Gyropolis menu. Everything that I have tried has been delightful and I am definitely only half done trying stuff. This place is not fancy but it is as clean as my Aunt Judy's house. No dirt, grime or gunk anywhere to be seen. We have only been here between meal times so it has never been too crazy like other people have said. Also, they have one of those sweet spikits with the gigantic piece of lamb on it so they can shave the meat off and make your food amazing. And just so I am not sitting on my iPad reliving Gyrolopis experiences for the rest of the night, I will stick with my faves from their menu. First and foremost, their falafel isn't regular falafel. It kicks all the other falafels asses with it's crunchy outside and moist, tender inside. Dipped in spicy tzatziki? It's slap yo Greek momma good. The faint taste of cumin and spice are just perfect. My favorite gyros have to be the Spicy Gyro and the Greek Chicken gyro. Both come on uber soft pita and are just plain delightful. The Spicy Gyro doesn't have the traditional fixins; it comes with peppers, onions and actual spicy tzatziki. It was so good it made my nose run. The Greek Chicken Gyro (or GCG as I like to call it) is a tradition gyro with chicken instead of lamb. I love that my meat has never been dry and the greens are always super fresh. There aren't a ton of tomatoes on the GCG but I prefer it that way. Here is the part where I would like to pretend that I am so familiar with Greek food and it is so authentic, but the truth is that I'm not. I just really like good food. I should also mention that they have some really nummy pita bread and hummus that you can purchase to take home. I would do it if I were you!

The best places are small places. It's family owned (I think) and they make awesome food. The spicy gyro is the best gyro I've ever had by far; I'll drive across the metro just to get it. Great food, but watch out for their funny business hours, like being closed on Sundays.

Tried it after reading about it on Yelp. Got in at 12:40 on a Monday. Fairly busy, but it is small with limited seating. I wanted to try the gyropolis and fries and my son wanted the Athenian with fries. I changed my fries to an order of Dads Roasted Potatoes which are located by the register and looked better than they were. Too vinegary for my taste. We both ordered extra sauce which costs .49 more. I loved the gyro, the onions were plenty and flavorful. For both of us we came in at just under $21. My son liked his Athenian. Will I return? Hmmmm...maybe. I don't see it as a destination stop for me, but ifim in the area around lunch? Why not?

Gyropolis. The My Inner Monologue version. Cute place. Way clean. Feta, hot sauce, peppers, all that. Looks awesome, but I think I'll get the benchmark basic Gyro. That's it? Crap, this thing is small for your 6.95 or whatever. (First bite) Oh whatever. Yelp is stupid, it's just a Gyro. What the hell? (Fifth bite) Holy shit this thing's off the hook good. (Done) OMG I'm stuffed. So there you go. It's a sneaky thing, how good these actually are, but they ARE all that. It's hard to explain exactly what it is that's so better-than-average here, but it's definitely got some je ne sais quoi about the easily overrated lamb spam that is Gyro. Fresher maybe. Slightly less dive-for-your-water salt and msg? Who knows. Who cares. This rules. And don't sweat the optical illusion of how little it seems like you're getting. Falafel is a serious contender. I put it up there with Aida, only SLIGHTLY below Filfilah.

I live 6 blocks from there and they used to have the best gyro in town by far! Today 6/08/14 I ordered spanakopita (spinach pie) it used to be made fresh and delicious....everything used to be fresh....I walked out when 16 year old girls had NO idea about the food. ..other than to microwave something that was a week old.....very sad...The doors are closing. .When your help knows nothing! How fast from 5 stars to 1 star....very unfortunate

Wow! I was skeptical that this place would good and was thrilled to be proven wrong! Outstanding falafel, not dry at all and amazing regular and truly spicy hummus. Gyros are also great, just be warned that Yelp is wrong, they don't do take out orders. Luckily, the weekend is quieter than weekdays at lunch time.

This place has amazing Gyros! I am in love with this place. The only thing I can complain about is the business hours, but it is a local business so it's understandable.

I was in the neighborhood and took out my handy dandy yelp app to look up a good inexpensive place to eat for fish friday. I noticed Gyropolis had plenty of good reviews so stopped in to give it a try. Though they don't serve fish but they do have many veggie entrees. Good thing I did because the food was delicious I really wanted to try this spicy gyro but since no meat I went with the spinach and cheese pie combo which comes with salad and hummus+pita bread. All very good I added in a pepsi for under 10bucks! The person on the front end was helpful and even added in a few pieces of baked potato :). Everything was fresh and good portioned for the cost. so thanks yelp for the awesome find! I'll stop back in many times when I'm craving some greek food.

Best tasting fries ever! We'll maybe tied with Bun Mi's fries for the best to be honest. Got the philly gyro with fries. The meat was soft and tender, also packed with flavor. The chipotle sauce adds a zing to it.

Delicious and varied! The Athenian is like a Pittsburger style gyro, and quite fantastic.

The bread was so fresh! Very warm and fluffy. I ordered the grilled chicken pita and it was very delicious. The falafel was excellent as well. I wanted to try some baklava, but I was too full by then. Five stars!

Hungry and need a low budget tasty meal? I did. I ordered the Gyropolis and it hit the spot, for about $6.50. It was big enough not to need any sides, but fries, greek salad, and other greek sides are available. This isn't high end Greek, so don't go here on a hot date, but it's a great stop for a good lunch meal. Restaurant is a "order at the counter" style with tables and chairs inside and out. They even make a gyro-style meat lovers pizza if you want it. Why 4 our of 5 ? The guy behind the counter seemed to be distracted when he took our order and had to re-do it a couple of times... but it was about 15 min before closing on a Saturday. I would be distracted too. I'd go back if I found myself in Bloomington again. Fast, inexpensive, tasty.

The Spicy Gyro served here is the best in the Southwest, hands down. After the Gyro shop nearest my workplace changed the quality of meat they put in their gyros, a co-worker suggested we try Gyropolis. I'm hooked. The service was fast, the price was reasonable, and the gyro was absolutely delicious. My suggestion is to go bold, or go home. Order up the spicy. The fries I had as a side were underwhelming, but understandable. You call yourself Gyropolis...it should be about the gyro, not the fries. Still, the fries were lightly seasoned, but a bit on the greasy side. Good Gyros at Gyropolis.

Oh my goodness if you love Greek food as much as I do then you have GOT to try this place out. You definitely get a good amount of food. I was stuffed after finishing off the delicious chicken grill. The people who worked there were very friendly and hard working. While I was eating the guy who worked the cash register was constantly cleaning or doing something! The place is sparkling because of their efforts. I will definitely be returning! :)

Yum! The meat was tender and not at all dry and the pita bread was awesome. I liked their cucumber sauce, too. They had a lot of options and I felt the prices were reasonable. I would definitely eat here again.

Out of tower/gyro snob checking in.. Visiting a friend who lives right around the corner and told me I had to try it knowing I'm a gyro snob. He's been to my favorite gyro place in NY so we knows what's up. Gyropolis is on par taste wise but the gyro sandwich is seemingly half the size for only a dollar less. This place is super clean and good and the spicy cucumber sauce is the best! We went ten minutes after opening and it was getting packed already.. Always a good sign and you know everything is gonna be fresh. 4 stars because I'd need two gyropolis gyros to feel full where I'm normally stuffed with one gyro at my go to spot. Thanks for listening ha!

Met a friend for dinner here yesterday....at 6. After reading some yelp's I was nervous since it said it was a tiny place and to go at off times to avoid the rush. No worries! We were one set of diners of only two. I had the Spicy Gyro... It was good and actually spicy! I just moved out of state so won't be back any time soon....but will definitely make the Bloomington trek to here on a future MN trip. The service was friendly and quick! Good job Gyropolis!!

Gyropolis is a lunch favorite for many of my coworkers, being within walking distance of their offices. However, I work off-site and rarely get over to that area of Bloomington and thus had never tried this place until recently. I'm glad I finally was able to sample its gyro-goodness. The lamb is extremely tasty, especially coupled with their tzatziki sauce, and the veggies are always fresh. Basically it was exactly what I expected from an authentic Greek fast-casual restaurant. I recommend the "Gyroworks", but everything looks good. On a side note, for a little more than $25 bucks they have a family platter that provides all the ingredients to make your own gyros at home, and comes with salad and rice. I think its enough food to feed about six people!

I travel a lot and look for unique meals. I absolutely loved my Gyros salad. Good size, great meat, very tasty sauce! Definitely recommend this place! The atmosphere is nothing special so I got it to go, but regardless, great food.

  • Josh M.

These are hands down the best tasting Gyros that I've had in the Twin Cities. Whats also really nice is that this is one of the few places where I can actually eat my Gyro the way it was intended to be, a sandwich. I'm sure everyone has had experiences at other places where to start with you can't fit the Gyro in your mouth then your pita bread rips on you and cucumber sauce gets all over hands, not cool. This does not happen here and I love them for it. The service is fantastic, the prices are affordable, and the place is really clean, what more could you ask for?

  • Matt M.

I want to give this 5 stars, but for objectivity reasons (I've only been there once) I'm going to go with 4. Likely to be edited at a later date. After a bunch of yelpers and an internet forum site recommended this joint, I had to check it out. Made a quick diversion after work to grab a bite. Loved it from the moment I walked in. The prices were noticeably more friendly than, say, Dino's. Big plus in this recession, right? The menu was more diverse than I expected. I went in with my mind set on a gyro, but wait - WHAT IS THIS? CALZONES?! Anyway, I opted for the spicy gyro and it had just the right kick. The pita was fresh. The meat was nice and tender. I'm totally into the small shop feel that the place has, too - it's a little crammed, but not terrible. Several tables, but I opted to take mine back home and grub down there. My 19 month toddler strongly approved of the fries, btw. And he's a connoisseur... so you know you can take that to the bank. I'm glad I checked the place out. I'm going to willingly let them into my wallet again in the near future.

Delicious! Nice little family owned business. I always get the same thing when I come here. The Gyroworks with spicy cucumber sauce. Delish!

Meat was hot. Veggies were fresh. Fries were made to order. Go here. I know I'll be back.

I will never go back here again. Worst customer service ever. The food is not bad but there are other places within 5 miles I can get better or the sane food with 100 times better service.

Best Gyros in the Twin Cities are at Gyropolis. They are reasonably priced and very fresh meat, sauces, and veggies. It's a small shop that usually has a bit of a line but they move people through pretty fast. I always get the Spicy Gyro because it has a little more of their delicious meat and the sauce is fantastic, but it might be too spicy for some. The Gyropolis with Feta cheese, tomatoes, peppers and tiziki sauce is also spectacular. These two are all I've tried, but there are many other options...I can't resist getting one of those two so I haven't tried the others. The Pita bread is always fresh and they have excellent hummus, I recommend getting pita and hummus on the side. This is the best place for lunch in Bloomington, one of my favorites in the whole metro, actually.

I like the spicy gyro here but I wish it was a bit bigger for the price. Baklava is premade and not that great. Service is average. If you are in south metro and need gyro fix this is the place to go though. I do like that you can buy the meat by the pound. Holy Land and Black Sea are better though

I preface this review by clarifying my star rating...Gyropolis is not a five star restaurant, but it is a five star casual counter service greek spot! My wife and I eat Greek food often and have struggled to find really good greek food that is not upscale. Gyropolis is comfortable, casual, and very much a neighborhood spot. The food is the star. This family operation produces almost everything in house and you can tell. The Gyro meat is seasoned perfectly and the tzatziki sauce is fantastic. They even offer tzatziki with a spicy twist if you like, Menu is compact with a few american twists available for people looking for something different. Portions are remarkably generous and the service was sincere and prompt. Everything is made right in front of you and you can modify and tweak as you like. They dont do a lot, but what they do they do well. Baklava was among the best we have ever had, you could tell it was made in the kitchen and had never been frozen! Perhaps the best sign of their quality was the level of business. We arrived after 1:00 on a Saturday and the line was eight deep with seating at a premium. Owners work the line and interact with their guests, many of whom they seemed to know by name. It was a refreshing approach in the midst of so many places with young staff who seem to hate their jobs and wish you would leave them alone so they could go text their friends. I highly recommend Gyropolis and suggest you give them a visit.

On my business trip I needed a place that had no lines with good food. I found it here. Never imagined a gyro place in MN, but the gyros were great and fries were excellent. They had an assortment of desserts that I didn't get to try, but they also looked delicious.

Absolutely amazing Greek food! Great for business lunches or take out family dinner. I am really glad to have found this place. Price is right and you get your order by the time you get to the register. Yum!

Great food. Nice people. Fast service. Good prices. You can't go wrong here if you are in the mood for an gyro. Try their pizzas too -- really good with gyro meat on them. Gets crowded and can be hard to find a seat.

This Bloomington Gyro shop is a great place to go if you're looking for something different without putting in the time required for a typical sit-down restaurant but want something better than typical fast food. The menu options are unique and diverse enough where anyone should be able to find something appealing; there are gyro's, pita's, pizza's, platters, dessert items and even options for kids. The food is fantastic and the ingredient quality definitely seems above average as well. The place is a bit on the small side having once been a donut shop, but the seating and order area is set up well enough that it generally isn't a problem. A lot of the customers that come through also order to-go as well, so interior seating hasn't been a problem in my experience even when they are busy. All in all I definitely recommend giving the place a try, it is an ideal and affordable alternative.

OK looking for a bite a little late one nite after a day of running around, and we found this place on Yelp. It was closing soon so we rushed down. It is a very nice family run operation good food good service and filled the both of us up for $16. It was cute when the son was telling us about one of the dishes and the big selling point was my mom made it, from what we had she can cook for us anytime. I can see us back here if it fits in.

Although the gyros are lovely, the staff is truly hit or miss. I ordered the philly cheese gyro which comes with onions and peppers. When I pointed out that the (seemingly grumpy) woman making my gyro hadn't added the veggies after I had paid for it, an older man comes out from the back an yells at me, "you didn't even ask for 'em!" and gave me a look as if i was stealing from the store. Apparently he either has no idea what's on his menu or he was having a bad day and wasn't afraid to make my day worse. Luckily another gentleman working up front was a little more sentimental and gave me a little more meat which is why I don't give this place 1 star. Seriously though, that old woman is a drag and always seems grumpy. Please prescribe her Zanex or something to cheer her up :)

Yelp didn't steer me wrong. Looking for a tasty dinner at the last minute in a town I've never been too. Picked up a delicious gyro, super soft and tender and tasty. I'm in town for a few more days so might comeback and try a pita pizza.

Fantastic gyros! The spicy gyros are the only way to go! I've been here a half dozen times and would recommend it to anyone. It gets really busy here around lunch time so get there early. Parking is a bit tough and seating is limited so again get there early.

Special Gyro with feta was great. Go with a special, they are just a little differenti have been back several times and will keep keep going back.

This place gets packed but the line moves very fast so don't be scared to get in line! I ordered the spicy gyro which was DE-LICOUSSS.....it had a good kick to it and the meat was tender and very flavorful, and wasn't dry which is a big plus! The fries were very tasty also and came seasoned, the rice was good but nothing special, it tastes what rice should taste like. Overall the portions were good, price was right and its a great alternative to burgers! If I'm ever in the city again this will definetly be on my list of to-go-to food spots.

Okay, time to say what everyone else has already said about this place. In short, its friggin' awesome! There's even a little old lady that comes in at night to make the pitas by hand! Not only is it authentic and delicious, but you can get a HUGE stuffed pita for 6.35. I like this. A lot. Make sure to get here ahead of the lunch rush if you can- it can get pretty packed around 12pm. Looking forward to trying their Feast this week, which is supposed to feed 4-5 for $30 bucks, but thats for another review...

I loved Gyropolis! When I lived in Bloomington on W.98th Street, this place was close enough to grab some food after work or on the weekends and take it back to the apartment and eat. I have always loved Greek / Mediterranean food. I would kill for hummus, feta and baklava. I liked the lamb gyro and I like to pile it up with tomato, onion, and their yummy sauce, and I like cucumber sauce on the side. I get it with the fries, which are thick cut and amazing! Very good service. Place is a bit small inside, but the food really makes up for it! If you are in the mood for something like "fast food", skip McDonald's and Wendy's for a change and go to Gyropolis!

  • Ziggsta H.

I used to live a few blocks from Gyropolis and ate here frequently. Highly recommend just about everything on the menu, my favorites are the spicy chicken sandwich and the spicy gyro. Fries have an awesome seasoning on them. Falafel is also very good. Wish I still lived in Bloomington!

This is a great lunch place. I usually stick to the gyros but there is a wide range of Greek food on the menu. Family is pretty friendly.

I like this place! I finally wandered in after my "go-to" deli suddenly closed earlier this week. (H & H Cafe across the corner). Ordered the gyros salad with the spicy cucumber sauce. It comes with a pita too. Good tasting, worth the price. Quick & efficient service. I like that I can tell them exactly what I want on my salad as they're making it. I'll be back!

If you can't make it to Greece, go to Gyropolis. We met up with my sister here for lunch and it's a good thing she told us to meet up before the lunch crowd. By 11:45, there weren't any empty tables. We ordered the spicy gyro, the spicy chicken pita, fries, and the Mediterranean plate. We could hardly finish it all. All of this for $23. Tasty and quick. What more can you ask for???

  • Colin D.

Great lunch spot if you are in the area. The gyros are great especially with the spicy sauce. Even better is the gyro salad. The salad comes with a small but tasty Greek salad with includes a good portion of olives and feta cheese. I've tried the pizzas they're fine but not as good as the wonderful gyros. Super friendly staff what more do you want?

  • Shadow G.

This place is awesome, actually it's better than awesome- it's spectacular! The gyros are delicious and the falafel is second to none. Their spicy sauce packs a great kick and the cucumber sauce is perfection. The pitas are always nice and soft and the veggies are always fresh. The fries are good, I just can't think of a thing this place doesn't do well. Lunch time gets really crowded though since there isn't an abundance of seating so be prepared and the hours on the weekend are short so check the times before you go. Great place- love it!!!!

Normally, I'd classify myself as an adventurous orderer. But, when I go to Gyropolis, I always get suckered into ordering the Olympian. So good. The perfect combo of gyros meat, rice, salad, pitas and cucumber sauce. Oh, and of course, I always ask for it spicy! Skip the Baklava though, save the calories and just be a part of the clean plate club instead. Some of the best fast food you can get! I hear that the difference between say Dino's and Gyropolis is that Gyropolis uses lamb/pork mix, despite the idea that it might turn us Plain-Jane Midwesterners away. I'm not afraid of eating lamb - so bring it on!!! In all, Gyropolis has fast service and it travels well if you're taking it to go.

Gyros are good, love the spicy sauce. Not my favorite spot for a gryo but it's close to my work so it works for me! Definitely filling and will go back for sure!

  • Sameer A.

Their Olympian platter is an excellent combination of meat, rice, and some Greek salad. I think their gyro meat tastes much more authentic because they use some portion of lamb, which is the way it should be! It was also nice to see the small place teeming with people this weekend. Usually when we are at Gyropolis there are only a few other people there, but I suppose Saturday afternoons are a popular time to enjoy some gyros.

  • Anita S.

The gyros here are awesome. Love the cucumber sauce, love the real gyro meat, and I love the variety in the menu. They make the french fries per order, which is great - they are always hot and fresh for you, and I don't know what they season them with but it's great! I really like the baklava, too. It's small inside, but there always seems to be an empty table. I am confused by their hours - are they closed on Sundays? And not open very late? I live in the area and I can never quite figure out when they are open, I suppose I should write down the hours. Staff is SUPER nice and has never once laughed at me when I've pronounced Gyro wrong. This is a saturday lunch favorite for the husband and I!

A little pricey but definitely fulfills a craving for gyros. I recommend the spicy gyro. The sauce definitely has a kick to it, but it gives really good flavor to the meat.

Awesome Yelp find. Visiting, I read the reviews and had to check it out. I ordered the Gyropolis take-out. This is their basic gyro sandwich. The pita bread was fresh and soft and they stuffed it with meat. I easily had two sandwiches worth of meat. The meat tasted great and was not to salty. If you are looking for a gem when you are around the Mall of America neighborhood - skip the mall food and check this little place out. Thanks Yelpers for turning me on to this one!

I just had Gyropolis cater an event for me for 100 people. I have to tell you how pleased I am. Not only was the food delicious and the order correct, they let me use chafing dishes at no charge. I was given instructions on how to heat the food, but was amazed when the owner called me an hour after I left with one more suggestion. In most cases once you leave the store, you would never hear from them again. They not only produce great food, they care that their customers have a great experience.

Gyropolis looks like a chain but I believe it is the only location and family run. I have had both the regular and chicken gyros and they are great at $6. I have not had a problem getting extra toppings free (even though a sign says they cost extra). Definitely ask for a thing of cucumber sauce to dip your fries in. Haven't gotten the pizza but my co-worker got the "meat-lovers" today- gyro meat, pepperoni, and bacon (drool). Mmm greasy goodness. The only complaint I have is the fries are kindof under-done in the middle and soggy on the outside, but I guess it kind of evens out. Also they need more space as it gets really packed during lunch and sometimes there is nowhere to sit.

  • Mr. U.

Good food always fresh but always busy at lunch with not a lot of places to sit

Nice place, looks like a chain but, is a family owned business by two brothers who had previously worked with the rest of the family over at Deli Supreme on Lyndale & 98th (also very good). I have seen and spoken with George and Constantine (small talk couple times a year) over the years and watched them grow since they were kids. Now they moved out and started their own hit Gyropolis. Great Gyro's, Greek salads, pizza. I always go with the Gyropolis (basically the Gyro) then ask for mustard to be added with extra cucumber sauce (the Athenian has mustard and fry's in addition but, I don't like fry's on my Gyro so I always just go with the standard Gryo and ask them to add mustard). Fantastic Gryo's. If George or Constantine are working the counters say hi, they are super friendly and the staff will make the Gyro almost any way that you want it.

Best gyros in town...period. For the adventurous eaters (that won't be in close proximity to others for the rest of the day), try the "Athenian" with the spicy tzatziki sauce. It is a true flavor explosion. It can be tough to get a spot to sit during the weekday lunch rush, try getting there a little earlier than noon to avoid any hassles. They have some nice outdoor seating available if the weather is nice.

  • Sarah L.

I can't say I've had a gryo, but I did have me some chicken pita and I loved it! I'd give it 5 stars but didn't try the gryo, so I figured it wouldn't be right to give it 5 stars. But the pita...the pita was delicious. There were a few tables to sit at, but good enough. It seems most people take it to go anyway. The cucumber sauce is light and yummy! Totally recommend it and I will one of these days try the gryo.....

Some of the tastiest pita bread I've ever had. I ordered the spicy gyro and yes, Judy, it was SPICY! But I like spicy! The location is extremely unassuming - this is all about the food. Great value for really good food. I'll definitely be back.

  • P H.

Great spot. I had the Spicy Gyro and it was delicious. The service is fast and personal and everything used seems to be homemade. The people working are friendly and very happy to make your Gyro just the way you like it or give suggestions if you are not sure how you like it. But the Spicy is absolutely delicious and make sure your try the hummus. Homemade hummus will drive you away from the store bought stuff in a heart beat. Enjoy and do yourself a favor and try the baklava. Its homemade with 20 layers of filo dough. I didn't count them but it tasted great.

Recently went here with co-workers for my Birthday lunch. Nothing better than a gyro except free gyro! The place is small and can be busy, so beware that you may have to get your order to go. When we went at 12:30 on a Wed we were able to find seating. They have 3 versions of the gyro. I had the standard version but with the spicy sauce and season fries. The gyro was outstanding and the sauce had a kick but nothing crazy - good flavor. The sandwich was good-sized and definitely filling. The fries were just OK. I like my fries crisper and they were a bit soft even thought they just came out of the fryer. One of my co-workers got the gyro platter with pita meat, veggies, and hummus 0 it was huge! He couldn't finish it all. Looked like a great value at 6.99. All in all it is a solid place to get your gyro fix - I recommend it if you are in the area or it's near your work for lunch.

YUM. This place is great for a cheap, tasty gyro. Everything is very fresh including the fries that they will make order-by-order to ensure piping hot goodness. I opted for the "light gyro" on a recent visit which seems to be the same as the regular gyro w/ half the meat. It was the perfect size and I didn't feel like I was going to explode afterwards which is always a plus. My husband had the fries (tasty) and a regular gyro w/ spicy sauce. They also have salads and gyro pizzas that looked pretty good. I will be back.

This was quite good. I got a perfectly sized Mediterranean pita pizza with a pile of fresh baby spinach under red onion, mozzarella and feta, and other yummy fixings. The gyros also looked full and delicious, meat is freshly sliced off two rotisseries.
