We love this place! I work near here and it's an office staple. For the price (and a like), it's the best take out Chinese we've all had!

Been eating here for years, and we're never disappointed. Sesame chicken is our favorite- made extra spicy on request!

One of the best Chinese restaurants I frequently eat at. Excellent service and good hot food. Under new ownership and besides buffets this is the best neighborhood Chinese eatery.

I have been coming to Don Ho 3-5 times a month for about 5 years. They have the best Chinese in Bloomington, hands down. I have never been impressed with their service. The dining room is small, and rather unsanitary. I have seen them go from taking order, to cleaning tables, then grabbing your food without washing hands. A coworker and I used to frequent them for lunch, until we saw them refill a used water glass from one table and set it with their "ready to go" glasses for incoming customers.... Ewww... The owners (I assume, since they are always there) don't speak English very well, though the women does much better than the man. They are not very warm or welcoming. They will not make any substitution in their menu,. and about 50% of the time, something is wrong with the order. That being said, they are always quick to fix it, but never offer any apologies, and are very rude, which seems especially odd for a place that blazes KTIS, a local Christain radio station. I put up with all of this simply because the food was worth it. Yesterday, I had an experience that has driven me away permanently. I called in and ordered the same thing I do every time. 2 orders orange chicken, 1 extra spicy (for me) 1 regular (for the wife and 2 y/o daughter). The man on the other end said OK, 15 mins. 25 mins later, my wife comes back home with the food... I start enjoing mine, when my daughter starts screaming. Even though my box was marked spicy, and the other not, there was no question they were the same spicy batch. We quickly grabbed my daughter some milk, and a bit of chocolate to smooth things over, and all was well. I called in, and spoke to the same man who took my order. He began immediately talking over me, acknowledging he made them extra spicy, and arguing with me about what I ordered. Eventually he told me to come back in. So I make the 10 min drive over, waited at the front desk... THe man comes out and asked where the chicken was. I was confused... He said that I needed to "exchange it". I apologized, and said since he didn't tell me to being the used chicken back, I didn't bring it. It was very hard to understand what he was saying, but it became clear he wanted me to go back home, and bring the chicken back. I stated I was not going to do that. While I was in mid sentence, he walked away from the desk. The wife then came out, and called me a liar. What?? She said she heard him tell me to exchange it. I said, I never heard him say that. I went on to say, "I'm in here all the time", which she confirmed, "and I've got better things to do than drive 20 mins try to rip you off for an order of orange chicken." She asked me where I lived.... Frustrated at this point, I said "It doesn't matter where I live. I'm not going back home and coming back to fix you're mistake" "Are you going to make this right, or not?" She threw the chicken on the counter and stormed away. Final straw... Goodbye Don Hos... I hope you learn that good food can only get you so far in a service industry.

Not really a place to dine in. We usually order for take out. My husband usually orders the fried rice and lo mein. They are both really good and the portion is pretty big. I love their tofu and vegetables and the wonton soup. I haven't been disappointed so far.

Don Ho has been consistently great. They have the typical menu and also have lunch specials and take out options. Our favorites have been the combination with chicken chow mein egg foo young and fried rice. Also the beef fried rice and beef and broccoli. They recently changed owners but tbe quality remains and the new owners seem happy to be there.

Run by new owners, still really good food and if you like lo mein and cream cheese puffs this is the best place to get it.

This small Chinese restaurant, is unpretentious, but there's nothing here that I would get excited about. The food is very much typical American-Chinese fare -- unauthentic, stir-fry for the most part. Prices are reasonable, and quantities are okay, but that's not enough to keep me coming back.

Your typical Chinese joint. I have been to Don Ho a few times now and have enjoyed the Lo Mein, Chow Mein and a some egg rolls. I wasn't blown out of the water, but was definitley satisfied. The restaurant itself isn't very impressive, but the food is delightful. Great for take out. It is hard to know if a Chinese restaurant is going to be a win or a loss just by looking (you know, don't judge a book by it's cover), but I say, give Don Ho a try!

  • James G.

Don Ho is a nice neighborhood Chinese restaurant that offers all of the familiar dishes. The food is very good and the service is friendly. The dining area is a bit small, so I prefer to go for take-out.

My wife and I have gotten chinese take-out here a couple of times now. The food is consistently good, and that goes a long way. Nothing seems greasy/oily, the seasame chicken is breaded thinly so most of what you're eating is chicken. If you're looking for inexpensive and good chinese take-out, give them a try.

I have been eating at this restaurant for 25 years and I have never had a bad meal. The family/owners are friendly and the food is always tasty. I compare the Beef Lo Mein at every other restaurant to this one. This one comes out on top every time. Yes, the restaurant itself is small, but the portions are BIG!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
