This place was excellent! Not only did it have amazing food, it also had a meat raffle that was fun. The barbecue was possibly the best we have ever had!

Smokies is always a good stop for some damn good BBQ. Have eaten there several times, always tasty. The homemade sauces are great. The craft beers election is huge. Tuesday tacos are awesome and affordable. I always look forward to stopping in

I couldn't believe how good it was. We were not expecting much, but it was delicious. They were grossly understaffed and not in any real hurry to even speak with us. There was a man walking around who seemed to care, but he just repeated that someone would be right with us. That being said the food was real good. I'd honestly like to make it a 3.5 star if possible, but since it is not, the food will make me lean to a 4 star

Always good for to be found on the menu or the nightly special. Check out the draught list, 15 different flavors to select from. Awesome local brew selection as well.

Both service and food was excellent. Really busy Saturday night and we felt welcomed and well attended to by their team. Ol' Smokey was even out checking on all customers. Must try the ribs- fantastic! We'll be back!

Two words. Simply awesome! I love this place. I've had the smokeys cheese steak, a brisket and pulled pork sandwich, smoked Gouda cheese bites. Everything has been great. Owner makes sure to greet everyone in the place. Very cool dude.

Ribs and beans were excellent! Some of the best ribs I've had in MN. Service was friendly and prices were right. Definitely will be back if I am in the neighborhood , maybe even worth the trip from Minneapolis. Also highly recommend deep fried Gouda Mac ....

A great place to be for great service, and amazing food, but is a little of the beaten path. I can't imagine how big this place would be if they had a better location. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is delicious and cooked with passion. The home made sauces are so good you'll want to take them home. Not to mention they do meat raffle twice a week, bingo weekly, and frequently have live music or karaoke on weekends. The service slows when it's really busy so I gave them 4 stars but even though you may have to wait longer, they are still friendly and professional and the food is delicious and perfectly cooked.

Good smoked brisket. Nice neighborhood pub and grill. Staff was friendly. You could smell the smoker throughout the restaurant. Their sauces come separate from the sandwich, which lets you taste the meat.

I've visited Smokey's five times in the past month and have decided to update my review. The food is still excellent. The pulled pork never disappoints. However, the service in the dining room needs work (bar side seems to be quicker). I'm not sure if there are newer staff or if something else is hindering efficiency of the waitstaff, but something seems to be off. Friday and Saturday nights are BUSY - expect things to take a while. I still think Smokey's is deserving of a visit - I will be back again and again. I just wish they'd iron out the kinks or find some veteran servers.

We were very pleased. Came here to use our Groupon but it's not available Friday or Saturday. We decided to eat here anyways. We had the platter and the brisket, ribs and links were awesome. Well worth the drive.

Do NOT order the ribs! The others in my party of 6 seemed to like what they ordered, but I thought ordering BBQ ribs in a BBQ restaurant would be a treat. It was partly my fault for not saying something earlier, but as I ate each of the 6 ribs (half rack $16.95) they got progressively more dried and lifeless. By the last rib, when I tried to cut into it it shattered...pure burnt offering. When I complained to the waitress (first week on the job) I was told that I should have said something earlier. She was probably right, but I was paying more attention to my friends than the food. Besides, she took the order, someone else delivered it, and only asked how the food was before I had taken the first bite. She should have offered to comp the meal (at least partially) but didn't. I will NEVER go back to this place. In addition to the above, the place reeked of smoke, inside and out. My clothes still smell of smoke.

This is the best BBQ rib place in town ! It's out in the boonies but definitely worth the drive! It's not fancy, kind of a small town sports bar with a easy going atmosphere . We all had ribs, the half racks filled the platter. I ordered a full because I definitely wanted to take some home. They come with baked beans and cole slaw but gave other sides available. The have other menu offerings that look attractive but as far as I'm concerned it could be a 2 line menu; Barbecued Ribs 1/2 rack Barbecued Ribs full rack What more can you say!

This is definitely worth venturing out to east bethel ( even better if you're on a motorcycle!!) The appetizers were for the most part pre processed frozen standard bar fare. Smoked wings were good though. The beans and the coleslaw were homemade and delicious. Nice signature items. Had the brisket, pork and the ribs. All were very good. The pitmaster definitely knows his way around the smoker. The sauces could use a little help in my opinion. They only had 4 sauces that I was offered. A white sauce, which had a nice vinegar bite but was far too thin and runny. A Sweet BBQ which was definitely good. A spicy mustard that was good. and a Spicy BBQ. I was disappointed that they did not have a standard smoky BBQ sauce. All of the sauces had a bold flavor profile. So if you just wanted a standard smoky sauce you would be out of luck. My major gripe was; we came on a sunday as a result of a groupon offering (otherwise we would have never known the place existed) There was only one server working the entire room. Every step of service took an extremely long time. Seems like management kinda set her up for failure considering they knew a groupon was dropping. Dear Management, when you offer groupons you attract tons of new customers. These people have no idea what standard operating procedure is around your place. You have one shot to make a good impression. Next time, capitalize on it by staffing properly.

The outside of this place is very bland and boring, it doesn't look like much. However, the inside looks really nice. We sat in the dining area near the stage. It was a very cold day and it was slightly cold inside as well. I kept my coat on the whole time. I was with 3 other adults and a child. We had a burger, a couple sandwiches, fries, salad and a grilled cheese kids meal. The service was slow, it took maybe 30-45 minutes to get our food. The food was really good although the pork sandwiches could have used more bbq sauce. My daughter ordered a dessert (choc. Chip cake and ice cream) and that took maybe 20-30 minutes to get. Prices weren't too bad, kids meal prices are pretty good. The women's bathroom is shockingly cold...brr. so, overall the atmosphere and food were good, the service was very slow though. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars if I could.

Awesome barbecue restaurant in great out of the way location, only 15 mins north of Blaine. The smokey smell outside sets the scene for amazing food. My favs were the ribs, variety of sauces, & more. The Skee ball & juke box are a nice touch.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH !!!!! It even smells good when you pull up in the parking lot. I was here many years ago, and it was quite "divey" and dirty. Really rundown. But now it is waaaaay cleaner and nicer. It was very pleasant, but a small short menu. We had a wonderful brisket sandwich, with obligatory beans and frys. Cole slaw too.It was a rich tasty sauce that was perfect to me. This place seems to be a neighborhood hangout, and our server was ultra pleasant. Our timing was good, as we finished about 12 Harley's pulled up. Really nice bbq joint. Not fancy, just good food. I'D GO BACK IF I COULD FIND THE WAY................BURP..........

Yes, Lexington Avenue does have an end. And if you are one of those intrepid explorers that makes it that far north, you will soon be rewarded. Just 1 mile west of the north end of Lexington AV (on 185th) lies Smokey's pub and grill. The look and atmosphere of Smokey's is that of a north woods tavern. Snowmobiles and their riders were commonplace. The place was large and open. Plenty of signage adorned the walls heralding all manner of specials. What intrigued me was the BBQ. Never heard of this place - it recently popped up in the yelp margin when looking at another establishment. I had the pulled pork. My wife had a BLT (BLT???).. The pulled pork was good. They serve it bare with sauce on the side. A sweet tomato based or a tasty mustard base. The mustard was my pick and served double duty on both my sandwich and the fries. My wife had the BLT. All was in order (who orders a BLT at a barbeque place?) They had some nice beer albeit in bottles. Lift Bridge Hop Dish for me. They had a meat raffle going on while we were there. I wonder who won?

The wings are awesome here! Price isn't too bad, kinda tucked back by coon lake a ways but it is definitely worth it! The food is great!

I have eaten many a rack of ribs and BBQ in Tennessee and North Carolina and these are first rate! Excellent flavor and the 6 sauces to choose from were fantastic! Craft beer choice swerve great as well. Prior reviews complained about service being slow but not the case for me. The wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Made me feel like a regular. I will return to Smokey's!!!

This was our first time out here after hearing about the place from someone who works at Smokey's and another spot we frequent. She mentioned it casually and it was put at the top of our list! My husband is a BIG BBQ fan and having grown up in Texas, he is VERY hard to please! Nothing in the last 15+ years has pleased him so he ended up learning to do it himself. But at last! Someone is doing it right! We began with some of their wings which were just spicy enough for me to eat them. He loved them and so will you if you like spice. They were absolutely fabulous and like no other wings I have ever had. I believe they will be a staple when we go there. All their appetizers look good but these are a must try if you make the trek out here. I had the Smokey's Hog Melt and he had the Smoked Brisket and neither of us could have been happier. The Hog Melt is a wonderful creation with pulled pork and cheddar cheese with bacon. The brisket sandwich was 'plain' but perfect. He asked for some onions and our waitress brought them out right away. He also ordered a side of what they call 'Redneck Beans' and they were great! Basically baked beans with Smokey's special touch. Nothing like them in the state and I highly recommend them! My husband is a real perfectionist when it comes to BBQ as I said and this is the only place we have ever been outside of Texas and Kansas City where he has truly enjoyed the brisket. He always gives new places another try and another try because he wants there to be good BBQ in Minnesota. And now, there finally is! This is not an easy 'stop by on the way home' location, that's for sure. But I assure you, it is totally worth the effort!! With only a little more summer time left, it's a perfect excuse to put down the top, roll the bike out for one more road trip and get yourself up to Smokey's! Their food does not disappoint!!

The ribs were cooked just right, fall off the bone, not too dry, but not too fatty. The dry rub is flavorful, and the home made bbq is good. However, the server only brought two of the five sauces. The slaw was decent, but the beans were too spicy for my taste. Not that it mattered much to me, the ribs were meaty and filling. As for the place it self, definitely a bar, if you know what I mean. Butts crushed and lying on the ground at the entrance. Doors need some upkeep to be inviting, and tables should be washed after they're cleared. Bathroom was nice and also clean, major points for that. Tv's were newer, but the one in the dining area was not on, probably because of the band that started at nine. Band was good, classic rock/rock. Nice to have dinner music.

This was my second time eating here. First time I had the ribs and they were decent. That time the restaurant was fairly slow and there were only two of us, so we were in and out pretty quickly. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone style. Last night was the complete opposite. We were there with a larger group and the place was busy. We had called days ahead to let them know when and how many. They kind of had us together in a hodge-podge sort of way. The service was slow to non-existent. We only saw our waitress 4 times over 2 hours. Once to get our drink order, once to deliver said drinks, and lastly to drop off the bill and return our cards. The first time, like I said, the ribs were good. Last night I tried what they described as a "Bourban N' Horseradish Chive Chicken". I would more accurately describe it as an "Overcooked Chicken Breast Exlax Gut Bomb". Of the four of us that went with me, three of us fought for two bathrooms when we got home 30 minutes later. The one that survived order a pizza...which I thought had pretty decent flavor to it. The sausage was good and the sauce was delicious and had plenty of cheese I may avoid this place the next time we are invited out since the drive home is too far to wait for a toilet.

This was our first time at Smokey's. The brisket platter was awesome! The sweet potato fries are I nice addition to the smoke meats. The other meals in our foursome were excellent as well. The service and the personality of our server, Carrie, was fantastic! We will be back to this exceptional place often in the future.

I have had a few things on the menu, never once been disappointed, The ribs are the best I have ever had, we go to Smokey's at least once a month, I cant wait to try the Cuban ! Great beer selection, and a very nice patio ! it's a bit out of the way but worth the drive!

We drove by Smokeys the first time but the reviews were hard to ignore. So after a recent trip to Coon lake we decided to try some ribs for the way home. Wow we are going to make this a regular stop. Folks are friendly and happy to share info on the area. Food is fantastic we can't stop talking about how we missed stopping the first time. I know it's all my fault.

Had the most amazing BBQ at Smokey's Pub N' Grill! The food was amazing and we will never go anywhere else! We were presented with six signature bbq sauces that were to die for and will be buying some to give out at Xmas! The slow smoked ribs, brisket and sausage are second to none and loved the homemade bbq beans with thick sliced bacon and homemade slaw. The service was superb and highly recommend everyone to take the time to head over there! Can't wait to go back!!!

Fantastic BBQ and a fun place! I went with three others - we ordered two appetizers, the plain chicken wings (excellent) and the fried green beans (also excellent) and then each had dinner - two orders of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, and the "cheesesteak" which is a beef brisket with onions and peppers. We all LOVED our food. The sauces were all amazing especially the Georgia BBQ sauce. I don't usually like mustard-based sauces, but this one was so good. It was the favorite for everyone at the table. We had beans, cole slaw, tots, and fries for sides and all were good or better. Service was very good - we sat in the bar area, but there is a dining room as well. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The chef/owner (?) came out and asked us how everything was and seemed genuinely happy that we had a good meal. The atmosphere was fun - definitely a local hangout, but we were treated like old friends. Friday and Saturday they do a meat raffle in the bar so we joined in and won some nice steaks! Karaoke starts at 9:00 on Friday, so if you aren't into that, you probably want to go earlier. We brought a ringer so stayed for a few songs. :) Will definitely be back despite the remote location!

What the crap! Way back on some out of the way (for me) roads, you'll stumble upon Smokey's. And you'll be glad you did if you're in the mood for some BBQ. I had the Beef Brisket sandwich and it was pretty amazing. It wasn't really like any other brisket sandwich meat I've seen - cut in thick slices and maybe fried/grilled a bit? It was soooo good! 1/3 Rack of meaty, fall off the bone ribs for $7.95? Sign me up! Meals come with cole slaw & beans or fries. And they seem to love to sprinkle dry rub on everything, but it's so tasty. The place is basically a bar - no frills. You might have to fight with bar bingo to have a conversation, but the food is inexpensive and tasty and well worth it.

The far north metro is a desolate place for restaurants, but it's slowly improving and with Smokey's around, it has improved a lot. In the Coon Lake Beach area, it can be kind of a pain to find but I can assure you, it's worth the drive. Not only is it a BBQ place, which is the rarest of finds in MN, but it's good BBQ. Very good. I have been to KC and Texas and been to some of the world class places you hear and read about, and having eaten there and knowing the difference I can honestly say this is good BBQ- they know what they are doing. Their brisket and pulled pork sandwich was phenomenal. Throw in a really good beer selection and very friendly atmosphere and you have yourself a very good place to eat and drink, which I would recommend to anyone. it's no frills in there but I like it that way and hey, you're at a BBQ joint- the best ones are all that way. Which leads me to my one criticism of the place, if you can call it that. As good as their Q is, it is kind of buried by the rest of the menu, which is the standard burgers and appetizers (which are also good by the way) and the like. It is odd to see BBQ dishes with fries instead of sides you normally see like beans and slaw (their beans are AWESOME and the slaw, also good). It's more a of a pub menu with BBQ and it should be the other way around. Their Q is damn good and they should put it front and center. On the flip side, they have a menu that suits everyone, which my kids appreciated. They really liked their burgers, by the way. I can't say enough good things about it. If you want BBQ and you live anywhere in the north metro, it's worth the drive.

I'm so glad this place changed ownership! The last time we were there (under the old ownership) the service was so bad it didn't exist. The service this time was perfect! Friendly, timely, informative, everything you want in a server. The food was delicious! I had the Smokey's burger. The hamburger seemed freshly made and the brisket on top was tender. The sweet potato fries were just the right amount of crispness. I didn't care for the sauce for the fries, a little too sweet but I added some of their handmade mustard and it added just enough zip. The bar is fully stocked. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw not one but TWO ciders ON TAP!!! My husband found a beer on tap he liked too (not a Bud/Miller fan). I love that we have another option close to home!
