This Subway gets 5 stars for: -1 star for it being the closest food establishment to my place of work -A 2nd star for there never being a line or it moving very quickly -A 3rd star for them never having been out of anything I wanted (a usual problem with other Subways I've visited) -A 4th star for the veggies always being fresh and and tasty -The 5th and final star for the staff always being friendly and never getting grumpy with my requests: extra this, light on that, no not that! sorry did I forget to mention that? They're great, and even if they weren't the closest Subway to my work, I would still drive a little farther when I decide to "eat fresh"

Ah, Pappy's Tavern. I'm not gonna lie, I love this place. The fact that it is so close to Bill's Superette and the auto parts store just makes it that much better! We have sort of made this our weekend brunch stop on any given Sunday or Saturday when we are not at a car show. We usually end up there sometime between 11am and 2 pm and the place is pretty quiet. Sundays seem to have quite of a bit of football/hockey/baseball teams/families in for lunch after practice but we always manage to find a seat. I am a huge fan of their breakfasts, which are served all day. I highly recommend trying a Redd's Apple Ale with your next everything omelet. It does not disappoint!! (*Update: This particular review is for the Tavern only! The Cafe side has different hours and atmosphere! But I am sure the food is just as awesome!)
I visit friends in the area regularly, and this is one of our favorite Sunday breakfast/brunch spots. The wait staff are very friendly and we are often greeted with a hug. We sit on the tavern side of the restaurant so we can enjoy a bloody mary with our food. I always get the Western Omelet and take half of it home after eating all the hash browms and nibbling on toast. Friends enjoy the raqspberry fritter french toast, or country fried steak. I've also had an excellent burger here. The staff always works to ensure that you feel like family and enjoy your meal. I have enjoyed several meals here over the last few months! I only give four stars because it is also a sports bar which has the current game playing. It's not my thing, but you may have a five-star experience if you want to watch the game.
I love this place! Best breakfast ever. Stop by on a Sunday morning and the restaurant is packed! So worth the wait though, I love the sense of community, nice family atmosphere.

Excellent thin crust. I like that they actually deliver to my house! You can usually find some decent coupons online and the pizza is good cold the next day if you actually have left-overs... very hard to stop eating! The employees sometimes miss instructions on online orders, so you may want to call in person.

Haven't ordered from here in a few years. Ordered a couple pizzas today and I was pleasantly surprised. The pizzas were really good. Their thin crust is perfectly cooked. Nice amount of cheese. Had a house special and the toppings were very fresh. The family size is a very generous portion too. I like what they're cooking here, definitely coming back.
This could be the worst pizza ever , I've ordered the pizza several different ways and it still comes out not worth what you pay for I ordered a pizza to go, my first impression is how much does it weigh compared to what I paid. $10 what I paid + a2 dollar and 50 cent tip . And I think I got robbed. I hold the box and there's not even a pound here so in theory 20 dollara pound
Wow!!!! I can't believe I've lived in Minnesota for 8 years now and have just now discovered this gem. Shame on me for driving past this place and discounting it for its outward appearance, I know better than that! The pizza here is out of this world, and the Chicago deep dish brought a tear to my eye and thoughts of home. The cheese sticks were, well, kinda gross as they tasted like smoke, but don't let that turn you away. If you appreciate good pizza, you owe it to yourself to come here. Enough said!

I always get great service here. my favorite server James is super friendly and helpful. The other servers are also very nice. I order pasta most of the time. Their Alfredo sauce is to die for! They also do killer garlic cheese roast. Tonight i ordered their deep dish pizza. Best deep dish crust I've ever had. They are really family friendly too. They have a small arcade for the kids and kids eat free on Sundays. I will always recommend this place to all my friends.
Love this place. Whether I am at the laundry room or my living room they always deliver. Never have had a bad pizza from them and I have been a customer since 2007.
Stopped in here after a hockey game and was very pleasantly surprised. I don't know if they have other locations or not but it seems like a small family run business. Our service was great and the pizza was above average. The pizza had a nice thin crispy crust and it was just plain good! To me it feels like a place you'd find in a really small town. I will come back here whenever I'm in the area. Very satisfied!

Mama Valenti’s Pizzeria

Reviews:
We have been eating at Mama Valent's for over a year and love the pizza. We normally get a vegetarian and a garlic chicken both with the regular crust. The online ordering tool is phenomenal. You can easily customize the order, give instructions, etc. Unlike some of the other reviewers I often order online or via phone for pick-up hours before i will actually be there and it's always hot, ready, and perfect.
My family and I eatten here several times and have never been disappointed by the pizza. In fact, we've always been pleasantly surprised. The place is clearly geared towards take out, but it makes it nice and quiet when we go in there to dine in.
If I would have written this review after the first time I ate here, it would have been all raves and 5 stars. However, I have eaten here a few times now. I will still tell you the pizza is good, but the quality has slipped a bit. The ingredients are fresh and the sauce is still tops, but there is just something about the construction of the pizza that is lacking. Very hard to put my finger on it, but it just doesn't taste the same as our first experience there. And I'm not sure what happened to the chicken wings, the first time we had them I would have told you they rivaled any chain restaurant, but now I won't even order them. Sorry Mama, I hope you get your groove back.

Stopped in for breakfast with my wife and one of our sons, loved it! Prices were great and the food was delicious! We are going to try dinner foods next. Sure, it's not fancy but it feels like home and the staff are friendly. I love these "mom and pop" places.
Had breakfast on a Sunday morning. Only moderately busy. Got seated immediately. Ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and sausage patties. Very good and serving size was perfect. Coffee only ok. Because this place is old... it shows. Even if it is clean, it looks dirty. Our table was wiped just before we were seated and they do use bleach water... Being a bleach freak, this was comforting. Bathrooms, gross. I really do not want to see the kitchen after this. Make no mistake, this place is a greasy spoon and I am good with that!
I stopped by this place this morning it looked pretty ok from the outside, but really run down inside It could use some work. When I got inside and sat down, I thought I must be invisible. Because I saw a waitress but for some reason she did not come and help me. I finally had to walk up to her and ask her if I could get some coffee. She said she was really busy but she stood there talking to somebody for 10 more minutes. It took 25 minutes before she took my order. I finally ordered a omelette, which I thought the price was fair. When I finally got my omelette it was cold. It might be because the waitress was just standing around talking and must not have seen it was ready. When I got my cold omelette the cheese inside was not even melted.(one chunk of cheese) Obviously this place needs better help! I will probably pass by it the next time and I would advise anyone else to do the same

Maxx Bar and Grill

Reviews:
My review will solely be based on my drinks and the service from the bartender as I was FAR too hungover to actually consume solid food. Kyle and I had to meet up with the father unit and as he lives in St. Francis and we live in South Minneapolis we chose a place a little closer to him, but still not way the heck out in the middle of nowhere to meet. We also all agreed there had to be booze there as it had been one of those nights, and was a suffering morning. We pulled up a stool to the bar and ordered, I was the smart one and got myself a Bloody Mary made with Pappar, with a finger of Coors. I pretty much pounded the first one and greatly enjoyed the olive, pickle, and meat stick that they include in the drink. Here's where it gets kind of... bad. I ordered my second Bloody Mary and the bartender (friendly though she was) hurriedly made it and didn't include an olive, pickle, meat stick, or my finger of beer. When I asked her about it she said she would just knock off $1.50 rather than just reaching behind her and grabbing them out of the little plastic holders on the bar... I mean seriously, I could have just reached across the bar and thrown them in my cocktail myself if they wouldn't throw me out for doing that. The meat raffle was a nice touch, but this definitely isn't somewhere that I would go back too unless I somehow heard about a gourmet food they are serving, which doesn't seem very likely.
We stopped by Maxx for breakfast on Sunday and it's your typical greasy spoon. The service was excellent, the atmosphere is nothing special. The breakfast menu consists of the usual suspects: omelets, pancakes, french toast and your basic egg dishes. I decided to order the breakfast sandwich with scrambled egg, ham, and American cheese on an English muffin. The sandwich was good, but it seemed really greasy. The portions are generous. I couldn't eat my whole sandwich and barely made a dent in the hashbrowns. I can't attest for the other items on the menu, but the people I dined with really enjoyed their omelets and breakfast scrambles. The pancakes are nothing special.
This place is close to home so we go pretty often. I was debating between 3 and 4 stars but the description of "A-OK" is pretty accurate. The food is decent bar food. Nothing to write home about but not bad. Their battered fish is good. Inside needs a little updating (please get new bar stools Maxx!). Service is good most of the time. Their drink selections aren't too bad for Ham Lake.
