Very nice breakfast - real fruit (not just the good ol' MN pale yellow, orange and green triad). Thick cut wheat toast, good eggs, etc.

My parents love this place so I finally decided to check it out while I'm visiting. The steak is derishisness. The service was on point, and I very much appreciate that there were no children dining while we were there. I will definitely return and cannot wait to have steak again!!!

The bar has some Summit on tap which is good but not much else. The bartenders were awesome and we closed the place down with our wedding party. The breakfast buffet I tried the next day is pretty awful for 13.68, everything was bland except for the good brownies I had. So great place for a drink if your staying at the hotel next door. But I wouldn't get the buffet next time around.

I've eaten here a couple of times, and both nights happened to be the fajita night. I sat at the bar on both occasions and the bartenders offered great service. I had the fajitas both times and they were pretty tasty. The chicken/peppers/onions on the sizzling plate come hot hot and looking tasty. The plate with the "fixin's" (lettuce, pico de gallo, etc) leaves a bit to be desired. The only hot sauce they have is tabasco and their salsa tastes like it comes straight out of a supermarket jar. I'll be back next time I'm in town for the good pour at the bar if nothing else.

I went to this restaurant for its Sunday brunch. The restaurant's advertisement for brunch promises an omelette station, crepe station, and complimentary champagne. The omelette station was great. It included 7 different ingredients to choose from and was efficiently staffed. The crepe station left something to be desired. It was just a pan containing two lonely crepes with some whipped cream and a few sugary fruit toppings in bowls beside the pan. There were no other crepe toppings to choose from such as Nutella, which is a pretty standard crepe topping. Finally, I had to specifically request the champagne. However, the waitress brought me just a one ounce shot glass of champagne, apologizing that the restaurant had run out. How does a restaurant that serves free champagne every Sunday run out? It's not like champagne goes bad so this restaurant should always have plenty stocked. This demonstrates extremely poor planning on the part of the restaurant manager. Needless to say I will not be returning.

I wish I could give a review of Rudy's. Unfortunately, we left before we could even order. After standing at the host desk for at least two minutes, a young man showed us to a table. Only two other tables were occupied in the whole place. A server brought us dinner menus, although it was lunchtime, just after noon. We requested lunch menus and ordered beverages. After several minutes, and no beverages yet, we spotted our server on the other side of the restaurant doing something at an empty table. We decided to leave. The server saw us leaving, and just watched us walk out. Disappointing. We will not be giving Rudy's a second chance. If I could leave zero stars, I would.

The restaurant is directly connected to the hotel myself and 2 coworkers are staying this week. The menu selection is robust and the portions are large. I had a stuffed portobello mushroom and zucchini. It was good, but a bit too much garlic. Not bad and convenient.

The food was excellent. A little spendy, but the service was good, the food was out quick and my family and I would come back again in a heartbeat.

Had a great time last night with some awesome friends, service was impeccable food was fabulous as always. One diner with my group ordered the pork loin special and was disappointed by the portion size, his teriyaki green beans were a bigger portion.

Wow...really outstanding food and service. One of the best restaurant soups I have ever eaten, and a great steak also. If you are looking for a solid highway-side meal in Alexandria, look no further!

Went their for a Memorial Day brunch with the family. Being a veteran myself, the restaurant was going to take care of my tab being I recently returned from Afghanistan but a regular customer over heard and took care of it herself. My grandpa got 50% off for Memorial Day for being a veteran. Our waitress was prompt with our drinks and she was very accommodating. So good customer service for sure. We had a decent size group, everyone enjoyed their food except for my dad... He had a cheeseburger and it wasn't cooked well so didn't eat, that was the only down part of our meal. The restaurant is connected to the hotel, saw parts of the hotel and it looked pretty nice as well. Food was good for the price.

Much different experience than Rudy's in the Cities. Food was mediocre and service was super slow.

I was here with a larger group on a Thursday night. The price point was pretty typical for a chain steakhouse, which was good. The speed was decent, the popovers were DELICIOUS, and the appetizers were well cooked, but it's pretty hard to screw up onion rings and egg rolls. This review is not about any of the above. I ordered the Juicy Rudy, which was very rich, but that can hardly be blamed on the restaurant, they made it pretty clear that it contained a mix of cheddar and bacon. It was delicious. STRIKE ONE: Undercooked fries. I know I was with a large group. If my food arrived slightly cooler than usual, or exhibited signs of being held under a heat lamp, I would be more understanding. As I said, we were in a large group. However, UNDERCOOKED food is inexcusable. All of our food was hot, but everybody had poorly cooked french fries. A good entree with bad sides is a bad dish. STRIKE TWO: Wife and I ordered breakfast from them. She ordered her favorite, eggs benedict. Eggs benedict should have a runny center. Hers, however, had a hard boiled yolk and a chewy, rubbery white. For 14 dollars, they should have been darn close to perfect STRIKE THREE: Someone from the restaurant called our room to see if our food was ok. Mine was great, but I told her that my wife didn't really GET what she ordered. Her eggs were WAY overcooked and not what she expected. She asked if we wanted to send them back, but we had to get to a funeral and now didn't have time. "Oh. Well, sorry about that." Was her reply. No offer of a coupon, no offer of a refund, nothing. Pros: WONDERFUL drinks, cheap drinks, charming bartender. Good burger, good entrees. Sorry guys, we won't be returning, at least for food.

Despite the fact that Friday was karaoke night, and I went in for dinner around 10pm, the service and food were not lacking. The whole menu looked delicious, and if I had not been alone I would have ordered an appetizer as they were half off during happy hour. I ordered a serloin steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Before my meal came, the server brought me out a strange bread concoction with sweet butter. My steak was cooked to perfection. And for anyone that likes their steaks medium, you know what a disapointment it is when its under or over cooked! The mashed potatoes were mixed with sour cream so they were quite tasty. The green beans could have been cooked a tad longer but they were still tasty with the sweet teryiaki they put on them. My waitress was a sweet older woman named Diane, and she was lovely. Needless to say I tipped her 30%. (My bill was still only $22!)

2 stars is VERY generous.... I was out of town recently and this place was in the hotel. Now, if given the choice, I would have gone somewhere else, but I was not in charge. It's a Friday night and it's fairly busy. There were a couple of tournaments in town, so that means a ton of kids. Our table of 10 was assured they could accommodate us. We were seated, got drinks and then waited and waited and waited to order. Once the server came by and took the orders she had to keep running to check on what's in each dish because descriptions are not put on the menu. For example, "What's in the Chinese Chicken Salad?" Response, "Not sure, should I check?" This should have been the indication. Most members of the table ordered a pork medallion special, I was not extremely hungry, so I opted for a soup and salad. Upon placing our order around 7:30, at 8:15 we had to ask if the food was ever coming. By this time, the place has cleared out and I was starving! My salad comes and it's pretty paltry and sad looking, but I eat it. My soup comes and WOW! They could really cut back on the salt. I could not eat it. Those who got the pork medallions were not pleased as they were 1 big breaded pork cutlet. Overall at dinner, the food was not passable, the service horrendous, and the bill a little on the high side. When I approached the manager with my comment card, he looked none too pleased. Why 2 stars then you ask? The group of 10 has now broken down into 3 groups of 3 or 4 at each table Well, the next morning we are in a hurry and buzz down for the 2 egg, 2 sausage, 1 piece of toast special - t he special is hanging in each of the rooms, is advertised on the walls, and written about in the directory. Upon ordering, the server looked at us like she had just seen a ghost. It's hard to screw up 2 eggs and the toast was good and it came fairly quickly - 10 mins, so I went with 2. This is a perfect example why I do not at Holiday Inn restaurants. Overall - yuck.

We were driving home from northern Minnesota and stopped at Rudy's Red Eye Grill for lunch. The service was a bit slow as the server had a large group at one of her other tables - looked like she may have been the only server - a bit odd for a Saturday afternoon. Once she took our order, our drinks came quickly. We split a Reuben sandwich. The fries were fresh and crispy. The sandwich was ok. The prices were as I expected - about $8 for a sandwich and side. I would not make a special trip to go to Rudy's, but if you are staying at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria, it is convenient.

Eating out is not new to us. Yes, my standard is high but this was the absolute worse service I've ever experienced. We had to go looking for the waitress to: get menus, order food, ask if the food was EVER coming, return the food as it wasn't the omelette I ordered, tell her I was headed to the buffet for the price of an omelette, go find the waitress because more friends had joined us, get menus again, needed to order, request the check. Oh and we had to find our own additional chairs for our additional friend. We rarely leave without tipping but we did today! The waitress did all this for us with a smile and pleasant demeanor. She did not have a clue that we weren't being served! No apologies!

My family has a standing breakfast at Rudy's once a week. I try to make it if I don't have conflicting conference calls because I like to see my family but secondly I love the breakfast! The first week I was staying in Alex my two aunts invited Rodney and me for dinner. We've had dinner here before but we had come for ribs because they were advertising them on the tables at breakfast. Wouldn't you know it? They were out! We all had walleye and it was amazing! We also held my dad's 80th birthday party there. Dawn was great and he had a great time. We couldn't have been happier!
