Food was excellent and not your usual Pizza joint food. They had traditional pizza and then Mediterranean dishes as well. It was the best of both worlds.

We went to Sam's this past week and once again we chose it based on Yelp reviews. We arrived there and the server was as sweet as could be. She came over right away to help us. We decided to order the mediterranean sampler (not sure that's what it's called) for 2 people even thought there were four of us since we were all ordering the soup also. I will say their portions are more than ample. We got beef, chicken and kafta on the platter. If I'd only ordered the kafta, this review may be a little different than the one I am about to give. The beef was tough, the chicken was dry but I loved the kafta, it was very flavorful, tender and cooked perfectly. I will say that I've had much better mediterranean food in other places but I hope this place makes it. It's nice to have some ethnic food in Whitehall.

I'm 57 and have eaten at many fine restaurants. This place has the most amazing flavors and food I've ever experienced and I wasn't even that hungry when I walked in the door. I'll be back, when I can eat more of this tasty, expertly prepared food!

Back again at the new location - we tried the hummus appetizer, kafta plate, and Magmour (eggplant) AGAIN! Portions were still large, food was just as excellent and the new location has a good feel to it. I'm so glad Whitehall has a place like this! Just wanted to update to let people know this place is still as good as ever!

Excellent excellent, first time here and the atmosphere staff and food were all great i tried the bistro burger it was great cooked to your liking while the staff was very well mannered and attentive always asking if we needed anything with a smile i will recommend this place to my friends just because of how we were treated during our time here. Keep up the good work i will make this a place i will stop at more often.

Decor was minimalistic. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. The cooks have a semi open kitchen so you can see them making your food. I had the pizza and it was good, but not great. The wife had the combo plate and that was good too. I'd eat there again.

We ate here on Sunday, December 7. I'm giving three stars because the service was so good. We were evidently the first people to show up, as the previous day's specials board had not yet been erased and the owner rather gruffly informed us that those specials were not for that day. Okay. We sat down and our server promptly came over to greet us. She was very friendly and attentive. She told us the Sunday special was Greek baked chicken with a Greek salad so we ordered it and a pizza to share. We really wanted to like the food. Other reviewers were so complimentary which is what drew us here in the first place. Unfortunately, our experience was different. While the Greek salad was huge and good, the pizza was just so-so. What bothered us, though, was that the Sunday special, which we expected to be yummy since they only serve it on Sundays, was so dry and rubbery that we had trouble cutting it with the knives on the table. How did it get so dried out when we were the first people there? I would try this restaurant one more time, ordering the Mediterranean foods touted by other reviewers, but only because our server was so great.

Stick to the pizza. Everything else was poor including the service. Pita was tuff, falafel was dry, soup tasted like cinnamon (chicken rice) etc but the pizza was alright.

My wife and I came to town and tried out this place. Great food!! The breadsticks were amazing. I got the home made lasagna and it was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area

Great pizza!! And the gluten free crust is a bonus for my celiac friends! Try the basil pesto one... Best pizza in town. The owner and his staff are very nice. I only wish they had a liquor license

I could not be more disappointed. We called ahead and asked if they could seat a large party, and we were told they could on the patio. When we arrived, we were refused service. They told us they were closing, despite the fact that we arrived over an hour before their posted closing hours and there were a lot of people in the restaurant. They were rude and discourteous, telling us when we mentioned calling ahead, "Well, we didn't know you meant you were coming now!" This was our first night in the area, and our party had to split up and go to several different restaurants in order to be served. This is not how we wanted to start our vacation. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

What a great find! Who would've thought you could find GREAT middle eastern cuisine in such a tiny town? But that's exactly what we found. Though the atmosphere was lacking a bit, they made up for it with amazing food and great service. We tried the sampler platter and every last bite was so tasty. I really enjoyed the kafta and shawarma and my boyfriend loved the hummus and salad. If I ever find myself back in Whitehall, I'll be dining at Sam's Bistro again.

Good food, Good Service, Good Value. We enjoyed our dinner at Sam's and will be back again. Casual dinning with large dinners makes this a great Family place for dinner.

One of the best surprises all weekend. Group of six of us and we were all impressed. It was as good, if not better, than any Mediterranean food we have had in the Chicago area. Personally I had the combination plate for one and wish I was eating it again. It was that good. Did not try the pizza but assume they must be good since we saw at least 50 of them go out the door while we were eating dinner. We tried everything from schawarm, kafta, hummus, steak (which was the special and came with three scoops of mashed red potatoes). Salads with every meal that not only were fresh but huge. Highly recommend this place.
