Annie's is a good place for that home cooked diner food. Big omlets, stuffed hash browns,BLT's...

Back home cooking - pancakes as big as a turkey platter - handmade burgers - super friendly staff - felt like we had known the waitress for years

Went to get breakfast before a 4 hour drive home..place looked busy so we figured it was good. Let's just say if I had a negative option for stars I would give it based on the terrible experience. First we had to get our own menus since the only waitress working was to busy. We literally waited for an hour for a couple omelletes and 2 kids breakfasts before we decided to leave. I know it was an hour because I checked at the time I checked in there on Facebook. When we told her we were leaving she rudley said "we got busy". No crap. It's Sunday morning and your are operating a diner off a main hwy that's going to get busy during camping season... Obviously it was poorly staffed. 1 waitress and probably 1 cook. We were the 3rd table to walk out..so it wasn't that we were being impatient. We camp in thAt area a few times a year...I will never go back after that. I'll drive the 20 minutes into Cadillac and eat at burkes waterfront like we ended up doing and food came out in 10 minutes!. If you want a successful restaurant staff accordingly..be prepared for travel season and maybe you won't get more reviews like this.

We were traveling through and stopped in for lunch. Good homemade food with excellent service. We loved the fact that they used fresh roasted turkey on their sandwiches and the soup portions were huge. I would have tried the massive pancakes I heard about, but you have to leave something for next time. Dena our waitress was really nice too.

It's a shame I can't give this place a better review. If I could review just the food itself, it would get 5 stars. Best pancakes I've ever had, huge portions, and quite affordable. Unfortunately, a review should be about the restaurant as a whole. We've come here many times in the past during the fall for fishing and the leaves. Most times it wasn't busy, but there was still a long wait to get the food. Ok, so perhaps they only have one cool, no biggie. Until one Saturday morning, we brought the family in for breakfast. There was one parking spot left and we took it. The wait for a table wasn't bad, but waiting for our drinks was 20 minutes, and waiting to place our orders was another 20 minutes. We ordered our breakfast, 45 minutes go by and no food, no drink refills, nothing. I tried to get the waitresses attention, but she was the LOUDEST person in there, standing and conversing with locals. I asked her how much longer and she said shed check. Meanwhile, two other families walked out without their food. She came back 15 minutes later and said our order was next. 20 more minutes go by, I get an update, our order is still next, what? By this time, everyone was irritable and wanted to leave. I said to wait it out because we already waited THIS long.. And after being there for about 2 hours and 15 minutes we finally got our food, which was excellent. Moral of the story, don't come here if it's busy.

It's rare I complain about a place, but this place has earned it. 50 minutes ago we ordered two omelettes. We are still waiting. Had to get up to refill coffee ourselves. It's crazy how slow it is. Maybe they are milking the cow and collecting the eggs and harvesting the vegetables to ensure we get a fresh meal? I don't know. But if there was any other place in town to eat, we would've left. We'll be cooking our own breakfast on our next visit to town. Sure won't be coming here.

We ate here several times during our week long stay. The food was homecooked with quality ingredients. The bacon is delicious and the potato options were all done on the premises. Servings were large. Nice to have a good meal before a day kayaking one of the local rivers. Would definitely return.

Delicious homemade food. It was like eating in my Grandmas kitchen. Large portions, delicious and great service. Tru the steak with mushrooms for dinner and the huge pancakes for breakfast.

My first one star review. My husband's family has a cabin in Wellston on the lake (3rd generation owners). There are not a lot of options for restaurants but rather than drive to Manistee for breakfast, we decided to head to the Kozy Kitchen less than a mile from the cabin. It was late Sunday morning and clearly a very busy time. We were able to get a table right away and place our order within a few minutes. Turns out my husband decided he wasn't hungry so I was the only one to order. I chose the Belgian waffle special that was advertised on the wipe board. That's where the pleasant experience ended. I asked for half/half for my coffee twice and finally asked another nearby table if I could have some of theirs. Not a huge deal. After 30 minutes with no sign of my waffle, I started noticing a couple of people standing outside the kitchen asking where their meals were (45 minute waits were mentioned). I waited another 10 minutes or so and then lined up to ask as well. My waffle order was about 8 orders out from even being started. I asked them to cancel my order and went up to the counter to pay for my one cup of coffee. In the 40 minutes I waited, no one else visited the table with any coffee, explanations, or apologies. I did not make a big deal out of the cancellation. Yes, I was annoyed but not about to make a scene. But, clearly some people near us heard the exchange and started loudly making comments "Huh, they must be from the city." And then laughing loudly. Sorry, but all I ordered was a WAFFLE. And not even one update in 40 minutes?! I've had better service in 3rd World Countries. Yes, I realize they were busy. And, in their defense, the people that did get their food seemed happy. I guess I'll never know! I would have greatly appreciated some notice as to "the kitchen is really backed up right now, it's going to be a while."

World Famous Stuffed Hash-browns! I've never seen or tasted hash-browns quite like these before. This ain't no diner scramble, it's more like a supreme, otherworldly omelet... but replace the eggs with crispy golden shredded potato. Yum! I eat here each and every time I visit the cabin. Friendly service (ask for Annie, she is awesome!), great homemade jam (take some home with you in a Styrofoam cup), and darn good food (The Kozy burger and Dagmar sandwich are great 4 lunch too!!!). We even named our dog Dagmar after the place. If you're on M-55, fill up here before you get your Dublin jerky, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I fish in the Wellston area 2 times each year in the fall. Dagmar's Kozy Kitchen is the BEST. This other review is absolutely right about the stuffed hash browns! Ham off the bone in copious quantities, onions, green peppers and mushrooms (and, of course, cheese). Fortunately, you can order a half-order, because that will take up a good portion of your plate. (Hungry men definitely can put away a whole order, but you will be FULL)! I get the 1/2 order with two eggs over medium, and put them on top. The half order with the eggs will STUFF me (pun intended), for dinner and leave me plenty for the next day's breakfast. Get the whole wheat toast and the awesome strawberry jam. R U a fan of roast turkey? Real roast turkey like at Thanksgiving? It's on the dinner menu most weekends. It comes with home made mash potatoes and home made gravy (I ask them to smother it). Like all of Dag's portions, this too, is enough for me for two meals. They also make INCREDIBLE omelettes, which are as well-stuffed as their hash browns. These can also be ordered as a half-order. Their fried chicken in a basket is crispy and juicy. I never had a bad meal at the Kozy Kitchen, and I've been going there since Dagmar (now the owner), was a waitress there - more than twenty years. AWESOME. And the value - HUGE! The prices are so tiny you can eat like a king/queen and barely dent your wallet.
