Auction House Cafe

This place definitely deserves a review and I will be happy to be the one to give it. I have been going to the auction house since I was a boy too young to remember. This place is a small little building in the middle of a gravel parking lot between old Stamm's equipment farm repair and the Wayland livestock auction barn. This place opens every day before the sun rises for farmers and retirees whose body clocks will never allow them the chance to miss a sunrise. The same women have been serving me all my life and the style of the interior never changes. The same linoleum counters and stools are still there and will probably grace a local museum for all the hands who have touched them. Only locals know about the place and it's a little like the show "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. There is a lot of talk on hunting, local news, the weather, the crop, the economy and the family. But anyone is welcome and there is always plenty of food to be cooked on the open stove. There is no menu and the cook will prepare anything you can imagine for a farmers breakfast at an extremely reasonable price. Eggs any way you like them over corned beef hash, potato wedges, homemade breads and toast, pancakes, sausages, pie, juices, and coffee. Bring your own mug for top-offs. If you are traveling down the highway and are looking for a good breakfast, this is the place to see. I have no idea how long this place has been here or how long it will stay, but it is a place as familiar as my bed at home and a part of the places where I grew to be a man. Enjoy.

I have not been to the old Wayland hotel for years, it got even better! Cheap eats without cheating the quality. Normally I'm in for the beef burrito which is always a hit but today it was all about their massive burgers. Don't be fooled by the outside cause this place is gold where it counts!
Oh yeah!!! Wayland Hotel is basically a bar with a menu. I went outside the norm and ordered a peanut butter bacon cheese burger and it was huge and really good. The only thing i didnt like is having to order frys seperate.
Best burger in west Michigan by far. They offer free pool too on Friday nights I think, and who can turn down $1 bud lights?! I've been there over a dozen times, and I have never been disappointed when I go to leave.

Was very quick service and very tasty food. Ordered the black and bleu burger that comes with Tatar torts and husband ordered wet burrito. Enjoyed it a lot and will go again.
Doreen clearly smokes crack. McDuffs not only is the class of Wayland but is the class of the entire west Michigan area. Zachary is the best bartender I've ever had.......in my life. Food is above expectations, drinks are prompt and properly chilled, service is immaculate. Go McDuffs.....can't wait to come back again......if you travel to the southwest Michigan area and don't hit McDuff's you are missing out.
I've been here a few times. Once for lunch we all had a great lunch we went after golf with about six people. The next time it was a Saturday night they served about 20 of us I had their individual pizza it was great.

This BK is excellent compared to others I've been to. The service is always friendly and fairly speedy. The only reason they don't get four stars is because they don't offer free wi-fi.

The pizza is wonderful! They have the best sausage I've ever had on pizza. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because service can be excruciatingly slow, but at the same time, they're busy because they're good!
Let me start off by saying, take this place for what it is, a take out pizza. The establishment is not the best, it's old a grungy. The pizza however was very good. Topping where fresh sausage had really good flavor and a little spicy, I got a 10" deluxe which cost me 11.45 with tax. The kid who was making pizzas did not use gloves or wash hands between rolling out dough when I walked in to taking my money and then going back to making another pizza. I figure there's not a lot of touching of the pizza going on after its baked so I was not totally turned off by this. For those who are, maybe think twice.
Best place in town! We get a pie from here at least twice a month. Looks a lil shady from the outside but pizza is outstanding...NY style!

It shares s building with a gas station. I have never at there, I have always gotten food to-go. Bread is always good, and so are the sandwiches. The wait for your food is not long at all and is pretty standard with other locations. All and all this is a safe stop.

Vibrant Grains Bakery and Restaurant

I was in Wayland, MI for a dance workshop held in the upstairs of Vibrant Grains. I was delighted to see that we could eat all day without having to leave the venue! I had brunch, dinner, and a cinnamon bun snack. Brunch: pretty big menu for a small bakery. I had the special, with two eggs, home fries, applewood bacon, and toast. Every thing was solid, and the toast was especially delicious, which was nice because, well, it's a bakery. Dinner: the menu was very small, but still included a veggie option. I had a lovely salad (dried cherries and sunflower seeds = nice touch!) and baked rigatoni, which was yummy. Very homestyle feeling. My cinnamon bun was huge and delicious and not overpoweringly sweet. I think that, while the food is very good, the best part about this little place is the people. The owner, Celia, came over and said hello, the servers were all super nice and even though 20 dancers descended on them at once, were able to get everyone fed in a reasonable amount of time. They also kept water pitchers full for the entire day and night upstairs for we thirsty dancerfolk. I took a loaf of wheat bread home, and I am still enjoying it two days later. If for some reason I'm ever in Wayland again, I'll definitely go.
We stopped here for breakfast on Sunday morning around 11:00 am. The place was busy. Every table was full. We grabbed the first table that opened up, before it was even cleared. The service was slow, the waitresses were very busy and flustered. It took us 45 minutes from the time we walked in until we got our order. That said, the food and coffee was worth the wait. Eggs were cooked the way we liked them, their toast made with one of their specialty breads was served with warmed jam. Their pancakes are as large as the plate, also served with warm syrup, and as good as any I've had. The bacon had a unique smokey flavor that my wife really liked, and the complimentary sweet muffins were also good.
Excellent pumpkin latte and my bagel breakfast sandwich was great. Share my husbands blueberry muffin which was excellent also.

Visiting the casino south of here.and ended.up finding this Italian sports bar and pizzeria in Waverly. Great artichoke dip, Deluxe Pizza, and.service. They had to substitute some liquor in the drink I ordered and I didn't like it so they made me another Dri.kn . Pool tables and families here....great place.
uccello's wayland mi i like to order take out -- unfortunately lately the keep screwing up my order-- wrong food, missing items, tonight i received a "wet" burrito with no sauce on it.........no lettuce no tomato either.
Not like any other uccellos. Horrible to even compare and when asking for meat sauce the brought out tomatoes sauce 3 times. Finally the waitress gave up and tried to claim it was meat sauce....yet it was not. So they gave ne a $5 iff on MY NEXT VISIT ha too bad we will never be back. Go to any other uccellos in grand rapids for a much better experience.
