Fast becoming my favorite Mexican Restaurant in GR. THE The food is great and plentiful, they keep the chips and salsa refilled without charge and the drinks are very tasty.special requests are handled without drama.

Visited 2-15-14 ok.. i have to tell you.... I love authentic mexican and this place appeared to be a great place. It's not. First it took an hour to get our food once we finally placed the order. They weren't that busy. Other than the person who simply ordered the quesadilla, none of our orders (4 ppl) came complete or correct. The waitress, although nice didn't understand English well enough to take our orders. I ordered the Xochimilco Special. It was anything but special. Luke warm and the plate was as if it has water in the plate before they placed the food. Was not tasty and for $10.99 I didn't expect soggy food. I would have sent it back, but didnt want wait another hour.. Wife ordered a burrito that showed it on the menu with beans, rice, and the usual trimmings... Know what she got? A burrito. that's it. $13.00 Our friends has the same, similar experience. Honestly, I wouldn't have paid Taco Bell rates for this food. In fact; I challenge you to go to Taco Bell, and order the same food from Cinco and compare. Taco Bell would win cada vez. So, I know this is my review and others have given them good reviews, so enter at your own risk. I would not go back.

Best Mexican food I have had in West Michigan! It's actually real authentic Mexican cuisine, not that knock off stuff you find at 90% of restaurants. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommended!

Not impressed. Did not get what we paid for. Food not that great. Had the lunch special and paid $8 for 1 enchilada & some rice & beans. Not worth it. Atmosphere is nice. Do not recommend!

Good food and good value. Service was good. If you don't like really hot salsa then this is the place. I prefer it a little spicier. Menu has many selections and is not limited like some places. I will be back.

Excellent food, massive menu. Some of the best Mexican rice I've ever had, and my wife tells me the beans were just as good. I'd give it 5 stars, but the interior still screams "Perkins". We went there a *lot*. But I'm sure we'll be back to Cinco plenty of times for new memories.

Very disappointed. Looks and feels like a Perkins. The food was nothing to brag about. This place is nothing like the Cinco de Mayo in downtown Grand Rapids.

First time I've been in Alpine for awhile and decided to try Cinco de Mayo. As my friend and I entered, we were greeted politely and learned that the waiter was bilingual quickly which was nice for my friend who spoke Spanish. The interior was clean and had an interesting Mexican decor. The waiter was very polite, saying "Gracias" and "Thank you" to both of us. We both ordered the Enchiladas Supreme which featured different fillings. The order came out fast and we both agreed that the steak filling was the tastiest. We finished it all with flan which was interesting since I had never had it with whipped cream before. Overall good experience, especially with the polite service that we had even while heading out the door.

The staff was very nice, but the food was just average... I am from Texas, so my expectation of Mexican food may be a lot to live up to.

Staff was nice and attentive. Food was OK. A little bland. Clean. I had a Beef wet burrito and it was just tortilla and meat w rice and beans on side.

My boyfriend and I arrived at 7:15ish and were out by 7:40ish (we were in a hurry for a movie, so it worked out great!). The chips and salsa were really good, served immediately by our friendly waitress. Waters were huge (always a plus), and the menu had plenty of options. I chose the small burrito (which was NOT small) which has a choice of beef or chicken. I got only beans, and it came with rice inside, and cheese and a red sauce on top. It was SO delicious. My boyfriend got the hot spicy burrito that had chicken & beef inside; it was MASSIVE. He finished half then and half later on in the evening. Mine was $6, and his was $14, but again, his was a LARGE burrito w/ lots of fillings. The restaurant was clean and friendly. The cleanliness followed to the bathroom, it smelled great and was VERY clean. A nice change from other restaurant bathrooms. It was by chance we stopped and ate here, and we were SO happy we dropped in!!

The best Mexican food I've had in quite sometime. Corn tortilla tacos with steak, cilantro, onions and limes were fantastic. Staff is friendly, welcoming ambiance.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
