A few weeks ago my Dad, my b/f, and myself woke up desperately hungry for some food. I should mention that we were in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in the off season... which means that there are almost no options for food. So, that being said we fired up our gadgets and hit the internet. And by we I mean the b/f and I because my Dad can barely operate his flip phone. I digress... We were staying at the Root Cellar Inn (which I will be reviewing later...it's FANTASTIC) which was about 20 minutes from Ewen and 20 minutes from Wakefield. Ewen doesn't have anything really so we headed to Wakefield to the Korner Kitchen because at this point I was beginning to nibble on my phone. Cute, tiny little building - if you blink you will miss it. Walked in and a very friendly waitress said we could sit anywhere. She brought both the lunch and breakfast menus because I never know what I want. They had a lot of choices - I was pretty surprised. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with scrambled eggs and toast...I needed the grease... IT WAS FABULOUS. Home made with love for sure. Their bread was also fresh from a local bakery and I'm certain I could have eaten a whole loaf. Dad and the b/f both got the standard eggs, ham, bacon. The b/f also got french toast and it was so yummy. This place got 5 stars for these reasons: It was remarkably clean The staff was very friendly The food was fresh and REALLY delicious It was fairly priced We plan on going back when we head back up to the Yoop later this summer. If you are in the area, check it out!
We found this place thanks to Yelp. After a day of snow shoeing in the Porkies, the family was hungry. We unknowingly walked in just before it closed and the very friendly waitress sat us without even mentioning it. (We realized it while we were eating.) We ordered the cheese curds because of another yelp review, and our six year old declared them to be "the best ever." They were great. The food came our quickly and everything tasted good. We ordered moo-oink-cluck burger, chicken strips, turkey melt, cheeseburger, and pancake with strawberries and cream (6 yr old again!). The lunches came with perfect French fries. The bathrooms were clean, the staff was friendly and conversational, and we were happy to support this local business. Highly recommend!
Great place! Place where all the locals go to eat. Very friendly and helpful staff - suggested we try the cheese curds (we are from California) and they were yummy! Everyone loved the choices - would go back in a heartbeat!

What happened? This used to be a favorite of ours in the U.P. but the last time we went, the soup was cold, the potatoes in the soup weren't cooked. The waitress apologized, but didn't seem to care. I ordered chili instead. It too, was cold....We won't eat there again. I think it's busy because it is the only restaurant for miles around.
Passing through and stopped in for a bite to eat. I had the Super Donna burger with fries. The special sauce helps to make a very good burger. The french fries were also better than most.
Food was good, the Carrot Cake was really like my moms!!! LOVED IT!!!

Place is a dumpy $hit hole. Pizza is so bad it makes frozen look gourmet. Wings were soggy with grease. Servers are more concerned with the bar fly highlife drinking locals. Beer had a 'funk' to it, possibly dirty tap lines or something. Overall it sucked something awful. I don't live here full time but I have a house on Sunday Lake so I'm here frequently. I thought I'd give the place a shot since I haven't been there in over 5 years. If they are still in business in 5 more years I'll give it another shot. For being in such a great location and the advantage of one of the only restaurants in town, they sure do not care about their business. Lake views, skis resorts within a short drive, snowmobile trails 50 yards away makes it accessible and easy in/out. Owners and management just need to be booted.
Tried the wings and grilled chicken sandwich from here. Wings were good, sandwich was ok. They accepted only cash, but fortunately there was an ATM right inside Club 28.
Some of the best burgers in Gogebic county and they're inexpensive to boot, especially when it's two for one night.
