Was there with my two daughters and my wife last night, the food was amazing, as always ( been there about 6 or 7 times, now twice since they re opened). Even though they were packed, the service was diligent and attentive. From our table the girls could see the kitchen, and I believe it was the owner who even spun the pizza dough in the air to their delight. Great family night for all of us, as the girls had fun and pizza, and the wife and I had a very nice dinner in a very nice place.

Food was great! Our server, Tony, was very friendly, informative, entertaining and an all around great person to visit with. Anyone looking for a fire cooked pizza this is the place for you.

Fabulous! The antipasto salad was fresh & delicious. The Tivolis special wood brick oven pizza was terrific! One of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. I cannot wait to go back to try one of their other many types of pizza. Highly recommend this cute restaurant!

Ive stopped in for slices 2 times & they were okay, BUT I understand its a former fresh slice re-heated in the oven. Okay on Thursday 5-15-14 finally trying a fresh thin crust. When I called she offered me three choices New York Style Chicago Thin Crust I chose the thin crust with Double Sauce Ham Mushrooms Banana Peppers $13.75 for a small 8 slice Yes it was very good, nice & thin ..sandy bottom & fresh -plentiful toppings.

Perfectly crafted wood fired pizza! Try the Tivolli's Special! Service is super friendly! Amazing!!

Super cute little hidden gem in Utica! A little disappointed on how small they are but it adds to the charm. Their decor is great and adds to the rustic Italian wood-fire pizzeria theme. The food is great and I would definitely recommend a wood-fire pizza over a "classic" pizza because you cannot get it anywhere else. Their bruschetta and antipasto salad where great and they use exceptional products. We will definitely be coming back!

The place is easy to miss while driving by for sure. It's in a little plaza but it is well worth the stop. It's quaint inside and all of the guys behind the counter greet you when you walk in, I felt so special. A group of us got a nice big table in the corner and the waitress was more than willing to explain pretty much the entire menu to us and the difference between the toppings and the types of pizza..god love her! I got me a glass of Chardonnay and I opted for the Polpette, 6 meatballs with red sauce and topped with ricotta cheese. It was beyond amazing! It was so filling and I ate the entire thing. All of the other gals got a pizza. The Sfiziosa seemed to be the winning pie, even the waitress said it was her favorite. Mozzarella, parma cotto, sliced tomatoes, finished with grated parmigiano reggiano, and fresh arugula. Brick oven style and delicious! I will definitely come back here again.

This place just reopened today. But for regulars looking for the same menu and the same food think again and not in a good way. The menu has changed and if you can believe the antipasto salad has been taken off the menu! Forget about asking for any salad dressing. I was told there is only one kind and it's horrible! I was told there was only one kind also. Their salad selections have changed and they aren't good. We took a friend who has wanted to go there. But the pizza was not the same and like the salad dressing it had no taste. My husband and I got panini's and they were so dry and tasteless. I got the Tivolis Italian. Instead of a sliced tomato to give some moisture there were cherry tomatoes that just fell out of the sandwich. Again when I asked for Italian dressing I was told there is only one kind. I'm giving this review 1 star because I'm hoping the menu and food were just a test for their re-grand opening and they will go back to their old menu and food. I thought the new menu and food was horrible as well as everyone else at our table and I also heard comments from other guests. Don't mess with tradition because with this menu and tasteless food you'll be out of business in six months! We won't be going back unless you go bank to the old you. Nothing tasted the same. I'm sad to say this because I was hoping I could walk in and order my faves.

I'm so glad my area is full of hidden gems. True Authentic old school pizza joint. Wood-Fire oven is where it's at! Chicago pizza and breadsticks were off the chain. Definitely worth the drive if you're not close! You're gonna spend $40 at Pizza Hut so you best get to this place. It's a cozy little place worth trying at least....50 times! Damn it was good!

Great pizza. I really enjoy the $5 2 slices + pop deal. Two chicago style slices and a drink are a perfect lunch. Really friendly, attentive staff that makes you feel at home.

Wonderful crust!! The wood oven give the crust a nice crunch on the bottom, yet keeps it soft and chewy in the middle. As an app we ordered the bruschetta mozzarella! I think it was better than the pizza! nice crust with great tasting olive oil and seasoning topped with fresh slices of mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh basil leaves! SO DELISH!!! This place is small, only about 15 tables, but they also do carry out!

So happy they have reopened! We went there for the first time since the remodel finished, and we're quite pleased with the changes. They've improved the salads, kept the great pizza, and even added a few more desserts. We had the Mia Melissa salad. This is similar to the Michigan Salad they used to have, except now it has sliced almonds, and the dressing (a white wine dressing) was great. We got one of our favorite pizzas, the Capricciosa. Instead of the previous hot dog slices, this has hot dogs lengthwise on a few pieces. Still tastes great, but a little harder to share. And the crust is classic Tivolis. Finished it off with cannolis, and they were wonderful. A lot of the new things on the menu look great, and we can't wait to try some of them on future visits.

Love this place!!! Ingredients are always fresh and friendly staff is willing to help you figure out which pizza would be best for you. New decor is beautiful. But we do miss some things off the old menu like ranch for our chiken wings or my daughters favorite, grilled chicken ceaser salad. Other than that our family loves this place!!!!

Meat lover's pizza was excellent. The waitress, Bailey, will put a smile on your face. She's very funny. Insalada di mare is a favorite and a must try for anyone new to Tivoli's!

To the owner of Tivoli: Look at the reviews since the re opening! Your customers (including me) are telling you that they LOVED the old menu and HATE the new! The new decor is great - but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go back to the old menu. I won't be back until I hear the old menu is back and it definitely looks like that's how a lot of your previous regulars feel as well. My favorite items on the menu used to be the antipasto salad and bruchetta. The antipasto is gone (what a brainless decision) and the bruchetta is NOT EVEN half the size as it used to be and now it's on little dinky pieces of 'alright' bread. I was insulted to be served such a small portion for the price. It honestly saddens me to say that I will not be back UNLESS you bring the old menu back EXACTLY how it used to be. Go ahead and ADD things if you want, but why would you take away and change what we loved so much?

Very good margherita pizza! Environment was cool, vintage and very old Italian style. Service was good as well, very friendly and up beat.

A true gem of a pizza place! I could go on and on about how great the pizza is here and how the brick oven just does something incredible to the crust, but you just need to come here and figure it out for yourself. :) The restaurant usually has a couple of people in here eating, but it's very casual like quick in and out place would be, but it is very nicely appointed and inviting. Staff is always friendly and helpful with the menu. Come in and order anything, you really can't go wrong!

  • Mary S.

Just picked up carry out order of Meat Lovers pizzas and Michigan salad and it is the worst meal ever!! Salad dressing is straight vinegar and uneatable. Literally caused my husband to choke. Pizzas have no flavor at all. Food is Nothing like it was before reopening. Tried to order Caesar salad but they don't make it right now. Then tried to order a Greek salad but they didn't have that either. Total waste of $31.50. Do yourself a favor and order from someplace else. I can't leave review without star rating so I am leaving ONE star which really should be a negative.

Always had a great experience at this restaurant.had never dined there always a carry out for the pizza. I ordered their wood oven pizza and the pizza dough is so soft and amazing tasting I really can't explain it. It's Amazin every time we order from there and same tastiness results. Recommend it

Love me some Tivoli's and am thrilled they're back open. The new remodel is a nice improvement that has made it a more comfortable dining experience. The menu has changed a bit from what I recall but the great flavor of their pizza is still there and that's what matters the most. If you live or work in the area, definitely give it a shot. Will say...the service post-reopening has been a lot slower than what it was before. I personally don't mind too much but can see people on a more strict schedule growing annoyed. Hopefully they get that taken care of.

We were very excited to find out Tivoli's re-opened. However, we ordered the Sicliiana which sounded great in the description. The only problem was when we got home the pizza had A LOT of black olives on it, not an item listed for this pizza. Disappointed for the first time here, we will give them another shot.

In a small town like Utica, good food is so hard to find unless I drive to cities like Rochester, Royal Oak or Ann Arbor. Thank goodness for Tivoli's! Their pizza can be so amazing if you know what to get. I always put gorgonzola on my pizza and the thin pizza is the best. Also, their bbq pizza is great. The people who work here are awesome. I'd definitely say that this is my go-to pizza place in this area of Michigan.

  • Ashley H.

Fresh salad and delicious thin crust pizza! While this wasn't my favorite thin crust it was certainly very good. It was a little awkward when we walked in. There is a sign in the foyer asking to "Please Wait to Be Seated" but then when you walk in you're standing in front of a bunch of tables. And we kind of stood there for a few minutes. But we were finally greeted by a very friendly employee who directed us to a table I did watch one couple's frustration with this situation and they eventually walked out. We saw a couple tables around us with wine. It turns out they welcome you to bring your own wine and beer with you to dinner. This seemed to be a great place for groups and families because there were several 6-person tables, the atmosphere is very casual, and the restaurant very bright and clean. Enjoy!

Stumbled upon this place by chance and am very happy that I did. Great ambiance, fast service, and, most importantly, awesome pizza. The wood-fired pizza had a light crust that was a perfect mix of crispy and chewy (if that makes sense), and was cooked perfectly. The sauce and toppings were excellent and I just wish I had waited one more minute to let it cool instead of jumping right in and burning my mouth! if I have to nitpick -- they could use a second door at the entrance, because the tables by the door were freezing. I don't travel to this area too often, but Tivoli will be on my "must go" list whenever I'm in town. In fact, I'm only here for the week, but I'll probably be going back before I head back home!

Living in Arizona, pizza like this is usually pretty easy to come by. In Michigan however, a truly good brick oven pizza is a very rare commodity. This is the only place in metro Detroit that's compared to anything I'm accustomed to out west.

The people are so nice that work and manage the place! An amazing pie on the east side, best thin crust hands down. If I recommend anything it's the meatballs. I love them and order like 20 literally every time I go. Granted I always go with a crowd, but I have to make sure I get my share first because they don't last long once tasted! Enjoy my friends

Had a hankering for good thin-crust pizza, so I did my research on Yelp. Found this little gem about 10 miles away. Stopped for dinner on a Thursday. Tivoli's is small, but has about 12-15 tables of varying size. Ordered the Tivoli's special, a 12" pie with various meats and veggies. The crust was excellent, nicely charred by the brick oven. The toppings, cheese, and sauce complemented each other well. Ate a lot more than I wanted too, but I wanted something sweet for dessert to balance the pizza. Ordered a cannoli. The shell was fresh and the filling very decadent tasting. I wish they had a liquor license to enjoy some beer or wine to go along with the food! A great place and one I'll repeat with!

  • Steve C.

Use to love this place, don't know if owners changed or what. Food isn't as good as it use to be and the service stinks. Whether your dining in or getting a carry out the workers are some of the rudest I have come across. I can't stand asking them a question they seem so lazy to answer it's like it hurts them. I waited so long for this place to open back up, the only good thing in that wait is that a discovered Nostalgia Pizza. If you want good pizza and service try it. As for Tivoli's you can thank your wait staff I'll never come back.

I wish I could leave a review! We stopped in early on a Friday evening. The place was busy but not packed. There were three of us and they tried to squeeze us into a table between two tables that were already occupied. There was no space to move. There were two big empty tables but when we asked to move, they would not give us the bigger tables presumably because there were only three of us. We left without ordering. They obviously don't need the business so I'm happy to spend my money elsewhere.

Yummy pizza! I do not like many pizzas at all and this one I enjoy. My family all agrees on it too. We get take out, always. Like another gentleman said, it could be more inviting but what pizza place is?

In the words of the great Si Robertson of Duck Dynasty, "This is the Karate Kid of pizza. It's the best around, nothings ever gonna keep it down, Jack!" My wife and I gladly drive out of our way from Fraser just to get pizza from here. So far we have only had the thin crust because that is the only one they do in the Wood Brick Oven and every time we go we always say we are going to try something new, but we stick to our favorite. What is our favorite you may be wondering? Hands down it has to be the Quattro Formaggi. Not just one kind of cheese, but four. I am a sucker for Gorgonzola and that is why I love this one so much. The bite it adds is a happy explosion of love and flavor in my mouth. We usually add on Pepperoni as well because they use the little ones that curl up in a cup which if I had my way would be the only kind of Pepperoni all pizza places would use. Salads are usually real good too, but you have to toss the dressing yourself. I am fine with this, but when I order a Caesar I like to have everything already mixed up and ready to dive right in. Maybe it is the impatient fat kid in me. Who knows. All I do know is that when I am craving real good "Za" I make sure to plan a date night with the wifey that includes Tivoli.

Authentic Italian pizza that is simply to die for!! Such a great fix when I miss the pizza from back in Sicily. The prices are great and it's also a great place for parties and events. A+++

Very good pizza! Wish the restaurant was more inviting though. Needs to be darker and serve alcohol.

  • Erin K.

I had high hopes for this place, but I left unsatisfied. I love wood brick oven pizza and this did not take like the brick oven pizza I had anywhere else. They offer thin crust, deep dish, and NY style (which I got). The crust was much thicker than I expected and the toppings were only okay. What I disliked about the restaurant was the order in which the food was brought out. My boyfriend ordered a wedge (essentially a pizza crust folded over sandwich items) and that came out shortly after the salad. He wanted to wait for the rest of us to get out food, but if he did, he would have had a cold meal. About 5 minutes later another pizza came to our table and then the final pizza about 5-10 minutes after that. It was very disorganized and I would have overlooked it if the pizza was amazing, but I prefer my homemade pizza over this unfortunately.

  • Stephanie A.

While this place is small and easy to miss, they by far make some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. Everything is made fresh so do expect to wait (45 minutes for deep dish). While they do not sell alcohol, you can bring your own in for the same price you would pay for a pop. A great place with an awesome atmosphere, and well worth any time you might wait. Highly recommended!

  • Jenny E.

So beyond happy that they have reopened! The best wood oven pizza around! Plus the variety is awesome!! If pizza is not what you are after the salads are great! The new decor is very homey and inviting. We have always loved that we can watch them hand toss our pizza and prepare our food. We had to wait a little bit, but as usual the conversation and meeting new people by the entrance is always a plus! It seems like everybody knows somebody there which makes you feel like you are eating at your friends home! Our waitress Ashley, whom we have had in the past, was as always very friendly, actually we were very happy to see she came back after they reopened!!! Highly recommend eating here and highly recommend the Nutella pizza AND cannolis for dessert! Great tasting food close to home! Buon cibo!

Excellent wood fire pizza and even better cannolis! They have a great carry out special - buy one pizza get one 50% off....buy one get one cannoli, too.

As a transplant from Minnesota, after one year my wife and I finally found our place for great pizza! The 12" thin crust in the genuine wood oven is perfect for a two person lunch, or order two and take a few slices home. We have found their pizza high quality, consistent and reasonably priced. It tastes great! My wife's favorite is the 4 cheese, and I like anything with some meat. They have been very accommodating at lunch when we order the 4 cheese with 1/2 Italian sausage. I also have nothing but praise about the service. Very personable, nothing fancy, but just good folks taking care of their customers. I have nothing less to report but a decent overall experience. I also like the older decorating. It reminds me that this place has been around for a long time, and there is a reason they have been around this long. Give it a try!

Awesome pizza! We got the Chicago Style pizza and it was amazing. The Canolis were good too! Highly recommended!

This place always satisfies the craving and is always on point. Wood brick oven, fresh ingredients, and fresh made dough you can't go wrong. I tried many different items on the menu and was never disappointed. Everyone is so friendly here and service is great. If you love pizza like I do than this place is a must try.

We had the New York style initially and on the second visit the brick oven thin pizza. The New York style makes me feel like I'm back in the North East with local neighborhood pizzerias and that's what I was looking for here in Michigan. Thank goodness I found it! The staff is wonderful and very friendly. The brick oven pizza is great also.

  • Micah S.

Called Tivoli's for carry-out. Pizza was ready super quickly. When I got there I got a very pleasant surprise: the Pizza was $2 less than what they told me it would be on the phone. We got the wood fired thin crust pizza. The sauce was flavorful and the toppings were fresh but sparse. The red onions were plentiful and gave the pie a great flavor- I just wish there had been more to it. Except for one slice that had two, there was one piece of pepperoni per slice. One piece barely had any mozzarella. While I don't expect the crust on a wood-fired pizza to be uniform, the edges of over half the crust were charred. It should have been cooked just a bit less. Overall, it was a pizza with a lot of potential, and good enough to ensure ill give Tivoli another try but I'll definitely try their New York or Sicilian style instead of the wood fired thin crust next time around.

  • Robin J.

Still my favorite pizza place. It's small and noisy, but the food is always good. We usually get the same things; thin crust pizza, antipasto salad, sometimes a wedge or cheese bread. Always good, and nice to be greeted by name.

I am a total ass / picky bastard and hardly ever give out 5 stars but holy shitsnacks, this place has some of the best pizza I have ever had....No lie. I need to testify! Wooo! Once again, I was on the other side of town (College buddies came home for the holidays and wanted to race go-carts up the street) so I made it a point to check this place out while I was over that way. I used a coupon on their carryout menu: buy one wheel, get one 50% off. So I got a NY style round with pancetta and I got a square meatball and I was slapping my own ass after having a slice of each. Both very different but downright awesome in their own way. The NY style apparantly is not their thin crust but a little bit more....the pancetta made it a true "greasewheel", I mean the cheese looked pink the next day it was so greasy....but MAN it was TIGHT! The meatball is just as good but in a different way. Now, when I ordered a square meatball, I was talked into something or another called the "meatball parm" that supposedly has more sauce and fresh parm reg...I dunno, a little more expensive but I have a good feeling it was well worth it. My wife does not "do" the east side and she has a seriously crappy attitude about anyplace "new", but I am dragging her ass down here to show her how it is done. The dining room itself was pretty "squeeze" and the employees were nice if not a tad brain damaged....doesn't matter. Kick ass pizza. Comin back, yo.

This is one of our favorite pizza places. I love the wood fired pizza! Service is good and the place is clean. We always get the Quattro formaggio and marguerites . I'm sure formaggio is spelled wrong and my Italian wife will correct me on it as she had to do at another pizza shop about 6 miles up the road! Salad is usually half off. We take a lot of what we ordered home with us .

Tivolis is top notch. very consistent and always tasty. Can't go wrong with any of the crust selections; thin crust, NY style, or Chicago Style. If you're in the Utica / Shelby Twp area, definitely stop in.

Hello! This was a great pizza place! Delicious authentic brick oven pizza that we will be back for. When you see a bunch of Italian guys in a pizza place, it's definitely a good sign. I wish I had ordered a pizza with red sauce, that was my only disappointment, but it was my fault. My husband's and kids' pizzas were perfect!

I found out I was "different" in 5th grade. To prove some point, my 5th grade teacher asked who in the class didn't like pizza. My hand shot up. My lone hand. I was the point proven. The abnormality in the class. As if life isn't hard enough for a shy 5th grader, ostracize her from the class! Yes, ostracize. I was banished, as far as the "cool" kids were concerned. Who cares if you wear jelly shoes, if you don't like pizza, you're out! It had somehow escaped my attention that everyone loves pizza. At birthday parties, I would take a slice of the ever present birthday pizza, but it would remain on my plate. I'd fill up on chips and vegetables (nothing like pizza to make a kid eat her veggies). Who wants to eat greasy cheese on shitty bread with gross pepperonis. No thanks. I would hate pizza for 23 years. Then I realized the chain pizza I was eating is the disfigured step child of real pizza. So at this point you may be wondering what makes me a good judge of pizza? Why don't you just shut up. I am a good judge of everything. :p (I put that face in there so you won't think I'm an asshole, but really, I am) To the point! Tivoli's is amazing pizza. Wood brick oven = perfect crust. Thin and crispy but not delicate. They've got the sauce down. Fresh mozzarella is a must for me. Globs of it all over my pizza, please. Real pepperonis, none of that pepperoni-sausage junk. Fresh, fresh, fresh ingredients! I make noises when I eat this pizza. I'm not joking. I seen a man staring at me once while I was swooning over my pie, with an expression I hope never to see on a middle-aged man again. Maybe it's best to eat this pizza in the privacy of my own home, but they've got a really nice set-up here. Take a look at my quality iPhone pictures. It's nice. Okay, for the "useful" part of this review: the thin crust comes in small only, but it is the biggest small I've ever seen (if you're used to Neapolitan-style, it's normal). You can build your own ($9+), or choose from their many options ($12). They offer other types of crust, but I don't see the point in that. The menu includes appetizers, salads, and dessert. Everyone is friendly and efficient. There's carry-out but no delivery. So, yeah. It turns out I love pizza. Tivoli's pizza!

My wife and I love to come here and get a large antipasto and thin crust wood oven pizza. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and very delicious. A nice neighborhood restaurant. You can bring your own beer or wine.

Everything is fresh and a treat to the taste buds. If you want a break from the usual Detroit style pizza this is a great place to start. May I recommend a thin crust with pepperoni, feta cheese, and basil!

  • Trish D.

The woodfired oven ALMOST makes this place a 4. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, decent food. My biggest gripe is the blatant use of canned toppings. The mushrooms are slimy and tell-take canned and there is an odd pride for the canned pineapple (the menu brags Dole pineapple and there are stacks of the cans decorating the restaurant). If I worked in the area, I would certainly return for the lunch deal -two slices and a pop for $5.

  • Jean S.

We ordered a wood oven baked pizza, a traditional NY pizza, cheese bread and Italian seasoned wings. Everything was delicious, especially the wood oven pizza. The crust was amazing! It is moderately priced, the service was good, if a little slow and we didn't have to wait for a seat (but it was busy the whole time we were there). Excellent!

Finally an amazing pizza place on our side of town!!! Don't let the strip mall deceive you. We opted to get the antipasto salad which is topped with their home made italian dressing, then made our way to the feature dish. The pizza is a true brick oven pizza with just the right amount of crispiness. The staff was attentive and kind. We are thrilled with our new found friend!!!

This is the kind of pizza that dreams are made of. Well, my dreams at least! Thick crust, deep dish, or pan style pizza... is not pizza. There can be no argument here. Go to Italy. Fly there now and find me something comparable to Buddy's or Jets. Better yet, take that abomination of a 'pizza' that is Jets and use it as an example whilst searching through Naples. My guess is that you get deported. But I digress... Tivoli's pizza is pure. The flavor imparted by the wood fired brick oven is what sets this pie apart. Order the thin crust version and you will find that Tivoli's pizza dough is by far the best pizza dough in America. I know, bold statement, but trust me. The texture is slightly crisp with a warm soft chew. The flavor is bright in a way that only fresh dough, made daily, can have. Add the unmistakable hint of flavor that the wood fired oven imparts, and you have a thing of beauty. The house made pizza sauce is a well-balanced blend of spices, with a slightly sweet bite in the same vein as a high quality balsamic. The sauce does not overpower the quality of the toppings Tivoli's utilizes. Any meat you order at Tivoli's will come sliced very thin and is of a quality I would expect to see on an antipasto plate at an upscale Italian restaurant. They use a soft mozzarella that is quite nice, but a choice of fresh buffalo mozzarella would truly make a trip to Italy a non-food event. I am just waiting for another reason to venture out to Utica and visit Tivoli's once again. This is the type of establishment that makes it so hard for me to enjoy 'fine dining'. While I appreciate food innovation as much as the next food snob; it is Tivoli's honesty that will keep me coming back for years. They keep things simple, pure, fresh and authentic. Truly these must be the core matters of concern for any chef. This is why Tivoli's earns my 5 star rating.

Second best Italian pizza in the U.S. (I like another one more, now, check my reviews). It reminds me of pizza at home in Italy; ingredients, crust, atmosphere, everything. They serve a HUGE tiramisu (and excellent).

Pretty good pizza. The ambiance was pretty good and the cooks were entertaining. The waitress was kind, but busy and didn't help much with deciding what to get for a first timer. We ordered take-out and the pizza was done pretty fast. I appreciate them doing the fire-brick oven and it can be tasted. The pepperoni was not as flavorful as I thought it would be. Overall I thought it was a good pizza, but not the best I've ever had. I know the pizza snobs won't like it, but I'd rather just have a good Hungry Howies with the butter cheese crust for the money :) Oh and the small size is about the size of a normal medium everywhere else.

Found out about this place from a friend and I love it, as do my wife and daughter. We have tried the wood fired and the screen cook pizza in a regular oven and they were both good. The pizza round is one of the best around. I'm going there today and I'm thinking about trying something different. I noticed a review from a Trish D and she complained about the mushroom's being canned. Most pizza mushrooms are canned because the high heat would destroy a non-canned mushroom, and it would taste like cardboard. Them someone would say that the mushrooms tasted like cardboard. This is a pizza joint not an organic health food store, get over yourself and just enjoy it!

Thin crust pizza is the main reason I come here, and the varieties on the menu are universally delicious, with my favorite being the spicy Calabrese, which is a simple and balanced arrangement of thin salami, red peppers and onions. A close second is the savory Siciliana, a tasty pie with mushrooms, capers and sauteed mushrooms. My two little girls like the "New York" style pizza, which is Tivoli's way of describing regular crust pies, and they gobble it up with gusto. Beyond pizza they also toss some of the most delicious salads I've sampled hereabouts, with the Michigan being my personal favority with its dried charries, feta and vinaigrette. My only beef with this restaurant is that the dining room is often chilly in the winter and tends to be quite loud when busy. In the summer you can eat outside, which may be more comfortable depending on time-of-day and weather. Ultimately I've found no better Pizza in the Macomb-Oakland area and well worth the visit.

Went here on lunch with a fellow coworker and let me say one word yum! This place has ambiance like no other wood oven pizza place around! It feels like you are walking into small town Italy. We ordered the margarita pizza and added onion. Also they were having half off salads so we split the antipasto salad. The pizza was sent from above. I mean the ingredients were fresh and looked B.E.A - utiful. The crust was thin and amazing we ordered a small and there was left overs for lunch the next day. The salad had nice coloring and ingredients that were traditional and not like many other places around. Our server was Jon Carlo... Sweet young man who had a lot of people to serve. All in all its a family owned place with great food and ambiance!

If you like new york pizza this is for you. They have 2 kinds of pizza, very thin New York and a just thin pizza. Both are good I prefer the just thin pizza. That pizza comes in a large while the New York is only one size. I dont know why they do that. I think a New Your pizza should be ordered as a large pizza certainly if you have a large family. The pizzas are crispy and very good. I will be back.

Their Chicago style stuffed crust pizza is delicious, and at $4.99 for two huge slices with a soda, it's a heck of a lunch deal. Their crusts are soft without being flimsy, their onions & peppers indicate freshness by retaining a nice crunch even after cooking and finally, the cheese has an hint of smokey flavor that it picks up from the wood burning brick oven. The workers at Tivoli's are top notch too!

I'm usually not a fan of thin crust pizza ~ I prefer the likes of Loui's, Buddy's and even Jet's square deep dish. I've been to Tivoli twice now, and I must say, their thin crust pizza is very good. I even get cravings for it! If only it was a tad bit closer to where I live and work. I get the Quattro Gusti, which has artichokes on it and is VERY good. Their salads are fresh and very appetizing. I've heard complaints about their service. I've had only good experience with the staff here. My only complaint is that the place is pretty small, so expect to wait for a table during peak times.

Tivoli is tops in my book. Have been coming here for years, and just finished a delicious meat ball parmigiana sub. The pizzas are wood fire cooked. This place is the real deal in authentic Italian pizza and sandwiches.Friendly and quick service, a great value for lunch or dinner. Try it, you will love it!

We stopped here after a visit to the Espresso Machine store up the road, we are never usually in this area. Wow, this pizza is delicious. I love that it is an authentic pizza place that hand tosses the dough in the air, our toddler loved that and the brick oven - being able to watch them assemble the pizzas. We had one thin crust (the only pizza cooked in the brick oven) and one NY style crust. Kids may prefer the non-brick oven due to the charred spots, but the parents will love this authentic pizza. Our salad was half off with pizza purchases and it was delicious. I love it when a greek salad includes cucumbers. the dressing was great. I wish we lived closer so we could go here again and again - delicious and fun place.

This is one of my first reviews in MI. I'm not sure if I should carry my expectations of being from San Francisco here. I'll be here in MI for a while. I ordered the 4 cheese upon recommendation of the staff. Pros: you can taste the smoke, the pie was appreciably thin and was dry underneath, something expected of any decent pizza. The cheese was smelly (awesome!) and had amazing flavor. The sauce was ok. Cons: the dough was a little too chewy and not light/airy enough. Sauce was ok. Other wood fired pizza places have lighter, fluffy dough, not as gummy. Sauce lacks that Italian punch. 4 stars because it's MI. It would be a solid 3-3.5 star in SF.

Pizza or salad, it doesn't matter. Tivoli's does it right. Their pizzas run from $10 - $20, whether you get a small or large. Generally, my family (three people) gets a large pizza and large salad, and that is plenty of food. Thankfully, this pizza is good fresh or leftover, so it doesn't matter when we eat it. Service is always friendly and we have never had trouble getting a table though the restaurant is small so it can get filled up pretty fast. Tivoli's might be the best pizza in Utica, nay Macomb County.

Great pizza. but... This is not a good place to take kids (ones that tend to scream and act out). I could barely hear the conversation I was trying to have with my friends because of ONE kid acting horrible . Please do everyone a favor and get carry out until your child behaves.. esp at a small place like this. At least take your kid to the car!! I really wanted to enjoy my time here...Maybe it was obnoxious people night, because after the kid screaming another family came in and started watching a game on their laptop which was also loud (it's a small place) would have been nice if the owners said something but they let them do what they wanted. Again it's a tiny place have some respect for other people trying to enjoy their meal. In a small place like that I expect to hear the normal people talking and laughing not children screaming and someone watching a game..:( We will probably go back again for the food in hopes tonight was just one of those nights.

Good Pie :-) I have picked up carry out here a few times late night and it's always been great. I'm not sure what night it was but they had the round thins on sale so the lady explained to me that they didn't offer the thin crust in a large or xl size but since they were on sale it would be cheaper to get 2 smalls. This is good pie, especially if your on the East side, if on West side I still slightly prefer "tomatoes a pizza", sorry Tivoli's.

We had been wanting to stop in to this local pizzeria for some time and found ourselves without little ones in tow so we jumped at the chance. (please note: this place is just fine for kids and very family friendly, we just thought ours might not appreciate the nuance of wood brick oven pizza) We were seated quickly. The place is small inside, but bustling with activity and happy patrons. Our drinks arrived promptly and our order was placed for a thin crust cooked in the brick oven with a side of wings. The thin crust is the only pie that is cooked in the wood oven, but there are other styles to choose from we wouldn't mind trying in the future. The toppings selections and recommended combinations were a pleasant blend of familiar choices and some more traditional styles. We went with the Napoletana which is mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, and anchovies, to which we added red onions and bacon. We didn't wait for too long before our Italian seasoned wings came out. There is plenty to watch while waiting, the open kitchen is a busy place. The wings were good, coated in Italian seasoned breadcrumbs and baked through. The dipping sauce seemed to be a homemade ranch dressing. The pizza came shortly after the wings and we were not disappointed. A good crust and flavorful toppings, cooked well. I had anticipated a bit more smoky flavor to the crust from the wood oven, but this in no way detracted from the pizza. A really good texture and solid flavor. The surprise find of the evening was the tiramisu, which we got to go. We felt it was a generous portion and good quality. To say the waitstaff was friendly would be an understatement. Our waitress was good and attentive. She was obviously a favorite of a few regulars, and readily conversed in Italian with them, taking care of business with a competent, yet relaxed air. Another waitress stopped by to check on us and we ended up having a small talk (later in the evening as things had slowed down) which was really pleasant. We felt as if we had been going there for years.

I got pizza here after reading all the rave reviews on yelp. I was sure to get the thin crust pizza since its the only pizza cooked in the wood oven. The service at the restaurant was ok. I was only doing take out so I can't say how the sit down experience would be but the place was pretty busy. The staff was relatively preoccupied and after 4 minutes of standing at the counter, I was greeted by a very cheerful waitress. The pizza was less than spectacular. It wasn't bad, infact the toppings were good and the crust was not greasy like alot of other pizza places. But it was very soft which is not at all what I expect from thin crust. The crust was so soft that it was difficult to eat since I like to grab a slice and eat with my hands. The pizza crust was as pliable as a noodle. Overall it was an alright pizza. Definitely not the best in the area as some people's reviews would leave you to believe. I have to say that Alibi and Dan-Good are much better places to grab a pizza.

If you like thin crust pizza that's light and not greasy you will love Tivoli's. Ingredients are fresh! Dinning in is nice and carryout is quick. I recommend this place if you are in the Shelby/Macomb/Clinton Twp area. I think they also have deep dish but im not sure. Im a thin crust pizza guy so that's all I tried.

Once I heard my friend's husband, who's family is from Italy and owns an old school Italian restaurant for 3-4 decades, say this pizza is good...I knew I had to make the trek. I was flying solo so I got my pizza to go. Would like to go back and dine in...kinda an old school feel....and JAM PACKED. Not a lot of seating. Seemed there was some confusion as well....like a waitress thinking someone was done and cleared their plate...and the person was not done and very bummed. It happens. People were even waiting outside the place. I dig me some thin crust wood burning oven pizza so I was psyched. And bonus to me is that they have a meatball pizza...so I was instantly dying to compare it to my beloved Tomatoes Apizza. It was good....I would definately go back and want to....it was not as thin as Tomatoes....but good quality ingredients and cheaper. They have some insane pizza youh ave to order 24 hours in advance...curious about that....but the only deep dish I do is Buddys. I'm open to try more, but never met anything that compares to their crust of love. I am a self admitted pizza snob. If only I had a canoli.....yummmm.

Thanks be to Lorna for pointing this place out. Again in the neighborhood, I tried out the lunch special - 2 slices and a pop for $5. The only pizza I could really choose was the 4 cheese. It was pretty damn fantastic. Not as tasty as Fresco, but nearly as good. With some red pepper flakes - yum! The tiramisu - yes I had tiramisu for lunch - was very tasty - I appreciated the coffee grounds on top - but not quite as good as Antonio's. The ambiance is very cozy, very Italiano. I felt comfy. I would give the food 6 stars. -2 stars because there was no soap in the men's room. Sure, they'd just opened, but you gotta have soap. Shame, shame.

After reading reviews and passing this place by a couple of times I had to try it. Antipasto: The cuts of salami and ham/(or prosciutto?) were excellent quality and taste, the dressing was good. Pizza: Thin. The crust was fresh and quality. The pepperoni's were good quality as well but thin and not big on flavor to me. There was fresh garlic also on ours and it picked up the flavor but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. This pizza would be great with a good anchovy or some powered garlic like they use in NYC. Service: Waitress was very nice and pleasant but she was stretched thin and didn't seem to have any recommendations, but then again I don't speak loud enough (people tell me) so she may not have heard me well! I'll have to order something different here next time if I'm in the area, maybe they are worth a 4 star which they were a hair short of. 3.5 Stars

Now, to finish my trifecta of thin-crust pizza places (I previously reviewed Supino's and New York City Pizza), I need to come back to the one where it all started for me. I discovered Tivoli's on a tip from a friend. She's Greek and hangs out with an Italian guy and he recommended the place. Their ethnicities are important to my story, but I'm getting to that. I went to Tivoli's with my roommate one night. We walked in and the place was empty. The owner came up to us and loudly welcomed us. Then the grilling began: Him: "Where did you hear about us?" Me: "From a friend of mine." Him: "What friend. What's his name?" Me: "Her name. She's.. her name is Deana...?" Him: "Deana what?" Me: (I give her obviously Greek last name) Him: "What is she, Greek? Okay great. What kind of pizza do you eat?" Me: "Uh..." (Flustered at this point) Him: (interrupting):" WHAT KINDA PIZZA? WHAT? DO YOU LIKE THAT LITTLE CAESARS SHIT? THAT SHIT AIN'T PIZZA" Me: "Uh, no.. I don't know. normally I go to Hungry Howies or Jet's.." Him: (Gesticulating wildly): "BULLSHIT! You sit down and I'm gonna make a pizza you've never had before. I use a wood-fired brick oven. A REAL WOOD FIRED BRICK OVEN. YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, I'll SHOW YOU!" ... It went on like that, but I realize that this is just the Italian way of displaying passion for food :D We sat outdoors on a lovely late spring evening, and dined on incredible pizza, amazing salad, sat with the owner and talked about the neighborhood and food, and had a generally amazing experience. I've been back several times, and now I feel ready to offer a full review. The pizza is the best I've personally ever had. Everybody has different opinions of what makes a good pizza, but for me this is the ultimate. Their crust is as perfect as New York City Pizza's crust (and this is where the wood-fired oven comes into play). Their sauce is perfect; lightly applied yet so full of flavor that it jumps out at you. Their toppings are all fresh and high quality. Their pizzas are not the only thing they have going for them, though: Their house salad is sublime, and one of the best house salads I've ever had. They also have a delicious caprese. They have sandwiches, but I've never tried one. I can infer the quality from their other dishes, and say that they're probably pretty great. The decor is nice, and the bathrooms are clean. Sometimes the staff can be curt or rude, but out of the 6 or 7 times I've been here, I've only had one negative staff experience with a rude waitress. If you're in the market for thin-crust, Italian-style pizza, you owe it to yourself to at least try Tivoli's. Pizza opinions are as diverse as the people in Metro Detroit, so I'm not going to try to win any converts here, but I can at least safely say you'll probably enjoy your experience here.

They make a good thin crust wood fired pizza. Have not had their deep dish or Chicago style. Wood fired cheese bread is great. Crust seems a little crispier than other places I've been. I like a balance of crispy/chewy. Love the picture in the bathroom (go see for yourself) its true in every way. If your in the area hit up bad brads bbq too for some brew or bbq or some more wood fired pizza. Enjoy these wood fired pizzas there few and far between, although more and more bbq restaurants are putting them in to go along with wood smoked brisket, pork and such . Which are amazing pizza toppings by the way but thats for another discussion. Enjoy my friends.
