Went for dinner with some work friends. Ordered the Ribeye steak and they brought out a NY Strip. When I brought it to the server's attention, three employees, including the manager, insisted I had been given a Ribeye. All eleven people at our table said New York Strip. Although nicely prepared, we were amazed that the staff was that unaware of something so basic. They were either lying or ignorant, neither option a good one.

Not impressed and very disappointed - the steak was extremely bland and the shrimp and lobster were dirty (if you are a seafood eater, you know what I mean). The jumbo was horrible and though the crab cake was good, it was over-priced compared to the high-end restaurants nearby. The server was pleasant and the bathroom was clean....

Happy hour at M&S is a good deal but the food is just ok. We ordered the mussels, bruschetta, fish tacos, and tuna tartar. The mussels had a good sauce but they were a bit on the small size. Not sure where they got those from but I would ask for my money back. The bruschetta was pretty good. The fish tacos were probably the best. The tuna tartar was horrible. It didn't look very fresh and actually looked scary. I believe it also came with seared tuna which was also a little scary looking. We were surprised because the bar was empty at HH. Overall, we probably won't be coming back and would suggest a better seafood restaurant.

Hubby and I stopped by for dinner. Seated quickly in a cozy room. Drinks served and order taken after a reasonably short time. 1st. Course was cold crisp Caesar salad, followed by hubby's Sliced Beef Medallions with Borderline sauce. So tender, could have cut it with a spoon I had the Cedar Planked Salmon with an accompliment of Buerre Rouge..raspberry puree...sauce. delish !. Desserts was the fluffliest most creamiest New York cheesecake with sweetened fresh strawberries. Finnish the delightful evening with cafe a lait. Waitress was excellent.,attentive withought being obtrusive . Restraunt was a bit cold so manager fixed it for us.

Recently met a group of friends for happy hour and had a great time. The server readily set up a large table for us, was very friendly and attentive. Separate checks? No problem at all. At one point we shuffled around the seating arrangement (not to confuse the server, but to encourage more conversation among the group members). She kept track of which bill belonged to which person and she never stopped smiling. Our group enjoyed a fun happy hour, with generous appetizers and great service.

My wife and I have been going here for years. We love the lobster bisque. Be sure to ask for one of their cozy personal booths. We went last night for my birthday and our waitress, Lauri, is great. We've had her about 3 times and she's always good at checking in at the right times. I had the King Crab Legs and my wife had the Lobster and Steak dinner. Both were perfect!

This restaurant is well worth the 4 star review, unlike most restaurants that have all the decor and awful food, this place focuses on the reason why consumers come go out for food. The new business scheme is to make your restaurant to look Intriguing from the outside without focusing on what the consumers are eating. Unfortunately most people fall for the "cool" decorations and don't mind having an awful experience on the inside. The building on the outside is extremely misleading of the experience the customer receives on the inside. The food is extremely delicious no matter what is ordered. The seafood is incredible and the food in this restaurant is better than any restaurant at the mall. You definitely pay for the food you with the prices being on the pricy side, however for those of you actually trying to eat great meal this place is well worth a try.

I love that they have a new menu every single day. Love the service as everyone was super friendly and gave good recs. I highly recommend the calamari! Other than that, the food was a little overpriced imho. I always get their dessert, which is really good.

We had a gift card for McCormick & Schmidt so decided to try it. When I looked at the reviews I was reluctant. We made a reservation and arrive to a virtually empty restaurant. Our wait staff was very attentive and helpful in talking about the different dishes. We started with the calamari which was very good. Both my husband and I had salads, he had the iceberg wedge and I had the chopped salad. Both were good, but the presentation of the chopped salad could have been better. The main courses were fair. I had the Parmesan encrusted flounder which was not good and mostly crust and greasy. My husband had the shrimp trio which was ok. This is a nice restaurant which should really take a look at why there isn't a crowd on a Thursday night.

We had reservations and still had to wait for our table for 45 minutes after our scheduled seating time. Our server was terrible. She got us one round of drinks from the bar and that was it. My drink was prepared incorrectly and my husband's vodka tonic was flat (eh, who needs carbonation, right?) Our server also forgot 2 out of 3 of our appetizers and one of the "extras" that we added to our entrees. The entrees were very salty, the asparagus was extremely undercooked, and the swordfish was not blackened as we had requested. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant that has screwed up every aspect of my dining experience until this particular instance.

Happy hour or lunch in the bar have always been good. But a recent dinner with the family proved a terrible experience. The drinks where fine, the calamari was salty but ok. Service good. My sons steak excellent. My daughters salad and lobster bisque where great. However my wife had the Walleye with roasted potatoes and onions, I had the sea scallops with crab potato hash. The lower part of the dinners, the potatoes and hash where drowned in butter, to some maybe this is a rich dinner. More like old school dining. My wife survived the experience with some discomfort, I wasn't so lucky. Let's just say I lost five pounds worth of water weigh in the water closet. I'll skip this venue next time, you should too.

Below par. Food was what I expected but service wasn't. Waitress almost whispered & forgot part of our order but at least it wasn't on the bill. Wait time just to bring wine & tea was too long.

Visited for the first time for a holiday work party. Had the 6oz. Filet with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Creme Bruele for dessert was phenomenal! Great service as well!

I took my best friend there for dinner today. What a disappointment. The food was average and the service was mediocre at best. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer - very salty and tasted like something you would get at an Applebee's. Tried to ask our waiter (more on that later) of "how much" was the lobster bisque soup was since it was $12. He seemed to revel in answering me that it was "$12" as if I couldn't read. I was asking if I could get a cup of soup rather than a $12 bowl...or whatever it was. He said "No" in a very condescending manner. My friend got the fried shrimp with fries - the fried shrimp tasted like Red Lobster (if that) and the fries were soggy and warm. I got the Walleye with potatoes on the side. The fish was ok and the potatoes were disappointing as well. Now I can get to the waiter. His name was Greg. Rude, not very friendly and quite arrogant. He didn't smile once or say thank you at all. I can understand if you're having a bad day, but seriously, rude. I shouldn't have left a tip at all, but thought he was having a bad day. I left an 18% tip which is less than what I usually leave. He was the type of waiter that you had to keep asking for stuff rather than just bringing it. When we first walked in, my friend sat next to me so we could talk without yelling across the table. The waiter moved the "place" setting to the new spot and took my friend's menu. When we asked for the menu again because he took the menu, he didn't apologize or smile at all. He looked agitated that he had to walk to the hostess stand to get a new menu. The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get with him and the service we got last night. They also changed their rewards program. The "chain" never sent me their new updated information so "Greg" couldn't give us the credit towards their program. Why would I ever go back there? I'll get my seafood somewhere else. It's not a good place to go. I would have been horrified had I taken a business client there.

Absolute worst dining experience that I've ever had. My family went to celebrate my mother's birthday. The server was incredibly rude and took passive-aggressive swipes at a few different people in our party. The food was incredibly slow arriving, and at one point even the manager remarked that it was taking too long and didn't know why. The food was just okay. But by the time it arrived everyone was just ready for the experience to be over. Getting the check sorted out was another hassle and more dealing with the unpleasant server who knew that he had the 18% gratuity already printed and sealed so dropped any semblance of professionalism. If I could give no stars I would. Never again.

  • Jenai H.

Oh, where to begin? The service was probably the worst I've ever had in the metro Detroit area in years! It was painfully slow and no apology was offered when my party bought this issue up. Manager (who instead of just saying my apologies, etc.) He said well, it's only been 14 minutes between appetizers and the server taking our order. No, that's not accurate. Please explain why it took close to twenty for my grandmother to get a cup of calm chowder!? A cup! If the food hadn't been good, the night would've been a total bust. Complete waste of the night and I definitely will not be back.

Four of us were there for Veteran's Day Nov 11, 2013. We had tenderloin, mussels appetizer, among a couple other entrees. I had the Parmesan Encrusted Chicken. It was absolutely excellent. Accompanied with fresh green beans and mashed potatoes. Chicken was moist, tender and very flavor packed. My buddy had the tenderloin and really liked it. The other two entries had no complaints. Our server Angelique, was attentive and very pleasant. 3 of us are veterans and for M&S to provide a complimentary meal was really kind of them. This was my first time there. My Stoli rocks with a twist was a bit pricey at $11 but hey, for the meal, I'd do it again. Thanks, M&S for recognizing us.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday with my sis. We had the Margherita Flat Bread appetizer, it was fresh and yummy. Sister ordered the Lobster Cobb Salad, came out looking very pretty in a round tower like presentation. She seemed to enjoy it very much. I had the Pretzel Crusted Whitefish, it was not the best i've had, but I liked it well enough. The table they gave us was like a private little room almost, very nice. The service was kind of slow, but we were not in a hurry at all, and everyone was very nice.

Been to MS very often, in many cities (Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Troy). We went this time for Valentines Day. We expected a very good experience, but I was a bit disappointed this time. Even though we'd made reservations well in advance, and are preferred dining members, we were given a small table back in a corner by the kitchen. Other got dressed up booths, while we had to contend with the kitchen noise and wait staff traffic. The service itself was slow, which was equally disappointing. I had to wait upwards of 15 minutes just to get a drink refill. The food was typical MS. It was actually very good. We had Fillet & shrimp, Calamari, and lobster bisque. All were good. The atmosphere is what ruined this particular visit. Going to Boston in September. I like that location MUCH better!

Still the best happy hour in town! This place, is pure amazing, the waitress remembers me by name, even though I've been in San fran since March 2011. The menu still offers the same pay scale, 4 1.95 options Buffalo chicken with crispy onions this is the best ever, Fried pickles, Quesidillas, and INCREDIBLE potato croquettes a 2.95 cheeseburger and fries 4 3.95 options Tuna Tacos, Pork sliders, Blackened chicken wraps, so on.. plus a 5.95 option sometimes like peel and eat shrimp, crab, oysters.. The food always good, the happy hour long until 7 m-thur, and 6:30 friday. With daily drinks. They also revamped their entire dinner menu and offer a lot more options. Long story short, this place has always ruled and will rule Happy hour. Check it out!

We went here for the first time on Saturday for a light late lunch and sat at the bar. I've always been told they have a great happy hour menu so we ordered a few things from the happy hour menu. The food was great. We finally found a place that has good sized portions for the price, especially the happy hour prices. Service was alright. Could have been a little more aware and prompt seeing as though we were the only ones in the whole bar most of the time.

Been going here for years and have seen the food and service go downhill. Drinks weak and expensive...had to send them back. Requested a booth on opentable but said it wasn't available...yet within minutes open booths were being seated with 2 people (same as the size of my party). Lobster mashed potatoes tasted like instant. They were kind enough to take them off the bill. Steak was very good. Had to keep asking for water though....really??? Come on...fill the water glasses!!

The goods: sunday dinner with party of 8, nice decor, very clean, cool private booths with curtains for privacy, nice variety of wines, everyone in my party enjoyed their food( I personally had the filet & shrimp scampi, which were both good, not the best I've had, but good), waitstaff was courtious The bads: service was courtious but seriously lacking, our server would disappear for 15 minutes at a time and they weren't even busy! beer selection was not the best, from where we were seated, we could here the kitchen, and they were borderline PG-13 The verdict: I know this was one server, on one visit, but with these prices, I shouldn't even have to worry about the service. There's plenty of other places in the area I can get good surf & turf, and good service.

I think I'm finished with this franchise. We had the steak/shrimp which was delicious and fish and chips which was ho-hum. Clam Chowder soup was good, but not amazing; Chicken-vegetables soup was boring. However! The Upside-down Apple Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream was absolutely amazing. I will come back for dessert. I've eaten at M&S once in Minneapolis and twice in Michigan. The Michigan location has painfully slow service. Both times. There are too many good restaurants or new ones to try to bother with this one again...except for dessert that is. Now, the private dining room for dessert would be a 5-star occasion.

I took my wife here for our 25th Anniversary last night. What a nice experience. I said in my reservation what the event was and they had the menus printed with "Happy 25th Anniversary" at the top. (Nice touch). The food was excellent. We started with a couple appetizers: spinach dip and crab cake. We followed with salads - I had the wedge salad & my wife had a garden salad. For the main course, my wife had blackened whitefish and I had the fillet / scampi combo. Everything we had was very tasty and prepared exactly as we had requested. Desert was creme brulee which was interesting in that mine was vanilla as it was part of the combo and my wife's was "blood orange" as it was ordered ala carte. We traded as she did not want the orange flavor. It was pretty light and tasty. Service was excellent. Our server was there when we needed her and not when we didn't. All in all, a very nice evening.

My husband and I picked this place for date night. The decor is nice... the private tables are fabulous. Server was extremely competent. Drinks were okay. Unfortunately the filet was under cooked and the whitefish was drowning in butter. I found it disrespectful to the protein. If you venture in, try the potato croquettes... I however will take my business elsewhere.

This place is a bit pricey, but we like it for a special occasion or, as was the case earlier this week, we had a gift card we'd earned with credit card points. I love seafood, and I like M&S's changing menu of fresh fish and seasonal entrees. My dining companion likes barely seared tune, and this is one of the places where he feels comfortable ordering it. I ordered whitefish the last time out with a spicy crab gratin--I worried a bit about such a mild fish standing up to a spicy dressing, but the dish really worked well. Dining is a fairly leisurely affair here--and I don't mean that in a bad way. When I'm spending a bit of money for a nice dinner, I don't race through the meal. I remember taking Tim's mother here a few years back for her birthday. The server made it a point to make it a festive occasion, and his mother talked about that dinner for ages after it! I also remember going in there late one night on my own birthday (after a bad experience elsewhere that caused us to walk out before we ordered-a truly rare event for us), and having a great evening in the end because we were treated so well here. The happy hour menu looks and sounds pretty amazing here, and it is one thing that might entice us to return here more often.

My Husband and I went out to McCormick & Schmick's for our wedding anniversary, overall our reviews were mixed depending on what we ordered. The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect for what we were looking for. We were greeted with a Happy Anniversary when we walked in the door and a specially printed menu with "Happy Anniversary" and the date on it for us to keep. Also, we were able to get a privacy booth with a curtain, which provided an intimate atmosphere. The menu had a lot of local provisions, which aligns with one of my core eating values. They had local herbs, asparagus, and dairy on their menu, which changes seasonally. We had the oysters and kobe beef carpaccio for appetizers. The oysters were smaller, which in my experience gives them a better flavor and the carpaccio was very good. I had the sole for dinner with local asparagus and risotto. I enjoyed my dinner, it was a little salty, but it was good. We ran into an issue with my husband's dinner. He had the lobster trio. It was way too salty, the lobster was not quality, and we really didn't get what we paid for. Our general conclusion was that McCormick's is the type of restaurant where you can get a good dinner, but they just don't have the skill to do the more upscale foods. For the amount of money we spent we would probably go to one of the other steakhouses we frequent.

On those rare occasions i get dragged kicking & Screaming to Somerset Collection, it is either Brio Tuscan grille or M&S for lunch. Yes this place is way way way overpriced & a pervasive snooty attitude exists amongst the staff, friendly is not an adjective i would use for here. but sometime, just sometimes the food is OK. The Lobster Bisque & the New England Clam Chowder actually might be cooked her rather than chef opening a can & Who can go wrong with Lobster. Truly i hate Somerset Collection & M&S is not that far behind.

Dustin and I went for a nice dinner during Troy Restaurant Week. We had not been to a McCormick and Schmicks restaurant before and wanted to check it out. Dustin and I make a point of not ordering the same thing so that we maximize our dining experience. We started with the lobster bisque and the warm pistachio goat cheese salad with sun dried cherries. The Lobster bisque was ok, a little too rich and a little too fishy for me, but the salad was life changing! I knew going in that I would like this salad because I liked everything in the salad, but I can not even begin to emphasize how truly delicious goat cheese covered in crushed toasted pistachio's and then warmed/grilled/whatever and put on top of a salad with dried cherries. I will go back for just the salad. I remember very little of the rest of the meal. Dustin and I both had some sort of fish entree. The sauce on mine over-powered the fish a little, but overall everything was cooked right and tasted good. The dessert was a little disappointing, but that's fine. I wont get dessert again. I will however go back and order the goat cheese salad with its warm pistachio crusty goodness.

Consistently pretty good food in a nice atmosphere. I have visited this restaurant on at least 6 occasions in the past 12 months and have found the food to be consistently good but maybe a little on the pricy side.

I dined here with my current crush who some how convinced me to have the Ahi Tuna. I am not a seafood or sushi eater for that matter. Against my better judgment I agreed. Different is what I came up with. I dipped it in ginger which spiced it up a lot! I had my usual, a salad. Asian Pear to be exact. I love the restaurant too! Our server was fantastic! Very hospitable and prompt. He seemed to be right on time when we needed something. I passed on dessert (a minute on the lips creates a lifetime on the hips!) but my crush ordered a sampler trio. The waiter knew better because he brought 2 spoons. I'm not sure exactly what the dessert was that I sampled, but it was sinfully delicious. It was chocolate with a dollop of whip cream. Need I say more?

My review is purely of the happy hour - I have yet to eat an actual lunch or dinner here. Considering the ridiculously low prices of the happy hour food, I have to say it's pretty good. I mean, really: $1.95 for spinach dip with pita? Who cares if it's not the best you've ever had. It's pretty darn good, and cheaper than a large soft drink at McDonald's (I'm actually just guessing on that one, but you get the point). The other choices I've tried have been generally good as well, with some of course shining over others. It doesn't hurt that the menu changes relatively regularly, too. The drinks (which, btw, are not on special for the happy hour, though there are daily specials at times) are excellent, and the bartenders much more knowledgeable about the more obscure/old fashioned drinks (Moscow Mule, anyone?) than at the majority of bars I've been to in the last couple years. The service is also excellent. I would certainly suggest this place for a simple happy hour get-together.

Will preface by saying I had carry out and not dine in. However, my transit time home is only 10 minutes As I'd received a gift card, I thought I'd try M&S. Ordered the wedge salad, the large filet, and the lobster mash. Their happy hour looks like a very busy, although very much an older crowd. The place was lively. My server who handled my carrout at the bar couldn't have been nicer. No complaints about the service. However I found the food to be completely uninspired and dull The filet was tiny. Teeny, tiny. I've ordered a petite filet at other places which was larger. It really seemed shriveled. That being said, it was cooked perfectly, was tender and tasted fine. Still, for 32 dollars I would expect something that was larger than an oversized steak-bite. The wedge salad was nice. The bleu cheese dressing was flavorful Whoever is making the salad and dressing did a nice job. The mashed potatos were horrible. Stiff, bland. I would expect mashed potatos like this in a high school cafeteria. Completely lacking in texture and flavor. The lobster sauce that was to accompany the lobster mash was just gross. Overly sweet, overly salty bisque with a bit of lobster meat tossed in. Way overdone , heavy, greasy and gross. It almost had a butterscotch flavor. so for 50 dollars I had carryout. Just the exact price of the gift card. Had I paid half that for my meal I would have felt ripped off. I have no problem paying much more money for a meal, but I expect better quality . I just don't think, based on my experience, that you get good value for your money here. There are better restaurants in this area. I Won't be back to M&S, and if I receive another gift card, I'm "re-gifting" it

The food here is horrific. I had the risotto and scallops and to be honest~ it was gross. My risotto was sticky, thick and not edible. I wouldn't even feed that to a stray animal. The salmon here is not fresh, there were fruit flies everywhere.....ew! Everything here was icky. I thought the place was dark and cold. I would never go bck and I don't recommend anyone going there to try even once. Sorry I don't want to sound harsh, but honesty is the best policy. Xoxo Renee _

Awful restaurant. Zero stars for food. Mahi mahi ($23.50). Forget about the ridiculous small portion, it was totally cooked to death, barely edible. Rare NY Strip steak ($37.50) arrived well done. It was a terrible piece of meat, no marbling, just large hunks of fat all over it. Salmon....also overcooked. This place is competing with Long John Silver for food quality, and losing. $178 for the worst meal in a very long time. How do they stay in business?

I am so upset with McCormick and Schmick's. Ever since the buyout by Landry's the restaurant has gone downhill. I will NOT BE RETURNING! I had the club card and in April my daughter received her birthday meal. Hahaha yesterday was my birthday and I called when I did not receive my e-mail for a bday dinner and was told that was stopped! Whaaatttt why do they want to take away from customers. Even took away the best food for brunches...now it is just what any other chain serves and not very well prepared any more either. They used to take pride in their food and their service. Now their service is great but what have they done to the rest of their business? The dining experience at Easter Brunch was terrible food dry and overcooked and Mother's Day Brunch we thought we would give them another chance...NO Champagne for Mothers anymore, Yep they even took that away. No dessert for Mothers anymore either, food was horrible, and we used to get a card for $20 off next meal for Mother's day...took that away too! Landrys has made big changes and too many changes....All frequent dining card take aways and food quality downhill...I no longer have you as my fave restaurant. Now I am searching for another fave restaurant any suggestions for City of Troy or Rochester? Hmmm if not maybe I will just have to drive farther or move...lol Until and if Landry's ever gets a clue and gives something good to customers then they no longer will be getting my businesss! I know many other unsatisfied customers turning away from them too so good Luck Landry's you are sure going to need it! Good-Bye fave restaurant! :( Very sad!

Had the fish and chips which used to be decent. They now slice up the cod into thin strips and batter it so that it looks like a corn dog. Lots of batter, not too much fish.

I love coming here for happy hour. For less than $10 a person with tip, you can get really full here. I loveeeee their spinach dip. It's so much better than any other place I've had it (Applebees, TGIF, etc.). You can get the 1/2 pound cheeseburger with french fries for $2.95 with a beer for just a little over $5. I'm a pescatarian and I like coming here because they always have a lot of seafood options on the happy hour which is nice because other restaurants always charge up the ass for seafood dishes. The only thing is that I always feel somewhat out of a place here. The average age of a patron here seems to be at least 45. The old people always stare.

What will $8.90 get you here? If you come here for happy hour, it will get you a Wave Bender (non alcoholic drink consisting of Sprite, Grenadine and something else), boneless buffalo chicken tenders and a half pound cheeseburger and fries. Fantastic happy hour menu, lots of variety for seafood and non-seafood eaters alike, and they are generous with the portions. I couldn't even finish my burger. Everyone else seemed happy with their choices as well, will definitely be back!

Went here for an event for a mid size group. Had always heard great things but the only thing that was great was the service. The food was gross- slimy chicken, hard undercooked and cold beans... Not at all what I expected...

What's not to love about McCormick & Schmicks' $1.95 Bar Food Menu? It's offered during their weekday happy hours (Yes, they have the usual happy hour time AND late night). The offerings change daily, but how about 1/2 pound cheeseburgers, baja fish tacos, quesadillas, wings, oyster shooters, mussels or bruschetta? Are you hungry yet? Then head over to M & S now (well, wait for happy hour)! They have a two drink minimum and drinks are not happy hour priced. Oh well, can't have everything! This is the only M & S in Michigan. Their regular menu is great too, but that's another review in the making... Edit 12/30/07: I was at happy hour and they have changed their bar food pricing into three levels: $1.95, $2.95 and $3.95 items. Still a great bargain for quelling your hunger and impeding a nasty hangover.

Call me a snob, but I don't want to love a chain restaurant. But, I just really like this McCormick and Schmicks. I've frequented the Chicago and Minneapolis locations (from living there), and I was never really all that excited by M&S. However, going to the Troy location has changed things for a couple of specific reasons. 1) The "Snug". It's like a superior version of the booth, with a little curtain, and it feels rather private. There is a finite number of the "snugs", though, so if you want one, you should reserve it in advance. You should want one, btw. 2) Raw oysters. I've become a big fan over the past couple of years and I generally need to know a restaurant has them for me to go there. The ones here are good. I'm not a connoisseur, so I don't know how they are in comparison to others. 3) Nicely sized wine list. Not a wine connoisseur, but I haven't had "bad wine" 4) Had some great meals. (Also had some so-so meals). But, last night's seared sea scallops, butternut squash risotto with fried leeks, and lobster tail (as a side dish) was the best meal I've had in a while. 5) I've had really great experiences with the waitstaff. Attentive, but not overbearing. Helpful tips, without being too "instructive". Update: past 3 experiences have been less great. they took my favorite dish off the menu and the oysters haven't seemed as fresh. also, while i'm not a connoisseur, i have a sneaking suspicion the type of oyster we ordered was not the type of oyster served to us. when i had looked up the description on the type of shell, the two did not jive.

We went here for our first dinner in Michigan. The ambience was perfect. We got a nice private booth. Our appetizer was a half dozen Canadian oysters. They couldn't have been any fresher oy yummier! My entry was a pan sear halibut with clams on a bed of succotash. The fish was crisp, clean, and perfectly cook. I was a bit concern about succotash but it was fresh, creamy, and amazing! There was nothing left on my plate at the end of dinner! My husband has the executive chef menu which includes a walnut mixed green salad, beef medallion with shrimp scampi, and cholocate espresso cake for dessert. All were stunning! The green vegetable and salad are fresh and sweet as if they were picked that day. Steak was perfectly medium as desired. We have dined at many fine establishments in the past and never had a mediocre meal here! It was simply amazing!

About the only time I ever go into McCormick & Schmick's is during Lent when I'm running out of places to eat fish on a Friday. I love sushi and sashimi, but I can only do that so many Fridays in a row. I'd really rather not fill my Lenten Fridays with the fish sandwich combo from Wendy's, the BK Big Fish, or the McDonald's Filet-O-Fish. I can only hit up Chinese restaurants for their pan-fried fish, steamed fish, whatever crispy fish, etc. so many times. I have certainly had better elsewhere. I have never felt like I've been blown away by the food here. I've never felt like the food was particularly interesting or creative. It's merely okay. Don't get me wrong. It's a decent place for seafood. I just haven't ever thought it was spectacular. It's just typical of a national chain, I suppose.

McCormick & Schimcks has been spotty for me in the past. Mostly service related and nothing else. But this is hands down the best location I've ever visited. The food is spectacular every time. I'll be honest ... I'm a picky bitch. No matter what i ask for here, they'll make it. No nasty attitude or mean faces attached - they seriously want to make you good food. Granted, they might be sticking their stinky finger in my mashed potatoes, but at least they whip them again before they put them on my plate. Really though, the selection is great. Pick anything on the seafood list and have it cooked anyway you want. They have a ton of sauces, seasonings, or just get it simply grilled. Always fresh asparagus and veggies for sides, plus some very yummy mashed potatoes if you want to do it right. I can't list everything I've had on this menu - but definitely try the ahi tuna app, the goat cheese salad, salmon with northwest berry, shark with wasabi creme fraiche; and grilled scallops. And if you're in recession mode - $2 drafts of Labatt, Coors or Bud heavy from 4-10; and small plates from $1.95 - 4.95 from 8-10pm. These are the best happy hour deals I've ever seen. Full size sandwiches, salmon cakes, salmon skewers, quesadillas, and even burgers if there's something wrong with you and you don't get seafood. One of the best bartenders in Troy here too, hands down. Ryan, if you happen to read this, congrats for actually being attentive and not pushing the most expensive thing on the menu to every person that walks in. And letting me ask 30 questions about every menu item before I finally order. I know you can't predict what I eat, but you do give a pretty generous pour of cab. Thanks!!

We came here for a friends Birthday dinner last Sunday . They sat the 4 of us in a private booth. We had made reservations before hand so when we were given the menu it actually said Happy Birthday on it , not a big deal but thought that was a nice touch. . I had the Salmon ( It was the Chief's special ) it was really good! Everybody else at the table had steak and shrimp and said it was okay . I had given a cake and candles for the staff to bring out after dinner they were very accommodating. Our waiter was perfect . I cut a star for the bread or lack of. It wasnt good. I love to eat bread with dinner and I was disappointed to have cold distasteful bread. Other than that it was a great experience and I will most liklely return .

It's a chain. But it is good and the seafood has always been fresh and well prepared. They will make you a nice rare tuna steak and the swordfish is great too.

I went here to try their new Fall Menu. I ordered the Boursin stuffed salmon en croute. The price was $29.99( really $30) and for that you get the boursin stuffed salmon along with the spinach mushroom saute. My server informed me that If I wanted sides like mashed potatoes it was extra. For what I was paying, it should have included it. I was expecting to be blown away, but the entree was mediocre, I was not impressed, felt ripped off. The only thing that was good out of the meal was the chowder and the cranberry flan. I used to look forward to eating here but it seems lately, the menu choices have gotten smaller along with the portions, but the prices have gotten higher. For me, its time to move on and look for another seafood restaurant.

I love this place, I would love it more if they had my favorite soup - tomato basil, but from what i know of they discontinued it. I've been here a couple of times and I am satisfied with the food. Must try the crab cake, very delicious!!! Shrimp jambalaya could have been better, but it wasn't that bad. I also tried a fish dish which I forgot the name of and it was very delicious. Service was pretty good, we had our own booth, which I like for privacy. The last time I went, the waitress charged us for a lobster bisque instead of clam chowder, which was only .50 or so over but it's the principal not the price.

Ive always been a big fan of this place. I've lived in Boston and it is comparable to the kind of seafood you can find out there with ease.

McCormick & Schmick's sits conveniently behind Somerset Mall, closest to Saks, sharing the same parking lot. During lunch one weekday, that lot was surprisingly full despite the cold and rain. A board announced "Power Lunch Box" specials, several entrées priced at $14 and under. I liked the restaurant décor, especially the slightly-enclosed booths, which offered a cozy, private place to share a meal. The lunch menu featured a wide selection of seafood including items from the oyster bar; crab, shrimp and calamari appetizers, and fresh fish entrées. For those who are in the mood for something else, there are also sandwiches, salads, and burgers available. I have a weakness for crab and avocado so the Lump Crab Tower appetizer fit the bill. Sweet and mild crab meat and diced mango sit on a base of creamy avocado. Micro greens top the dish. The appetizer was subtly flavored and enhanced by the basil oil and orange and balsamic vinaigrettes. As entrée, I thoroughly enjoyed the Parmesan-encrusted flounder, served with roasted vegetables which the restaurant graciously substituted (orzo usually accompanies the dish). The fish was flaky with a nutty taste enhanced by a lemon butter sauce. I liked the crispy capers that were sprinkled over the dish. The vegetables were excellently prepared. While the server recommended the crème brûlée for dessert, I have longed to have the Chocolate Bag so I indulged. The molded chocolate bag was filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with fresh berries and Chantilly cream. A raspberry sauce accompanies the dessert. The huge dessert is enough for four - so be prepared! However, I found some plastic (not sure from where - hope it was not too gross) in the dessert which definitely detracted from the meal. The other detractor was the cold bread that was served. Not bread that was "not warm" or not at room temperature, but actually cold. It was perplexing actually. For a higher-end restaurant, these misses were... interesting. Service was fine.

2.5 stars. We came here for their Troy restaurant week, so naturally we could only select from a limited menu. The quickest way to do this is to do a pros and cons, then list a few comments. Pros: - nice decor and layout. Clean with wooden beams and accents. Reminds me of more fancy places. - private booths (in case you want to be super-romantic) -nice wait staff. - real crab in the gumbo Cons: -had to wait over 25 minutes for our entrees. 4 people, and it wasn't busy at all. The food wasn'tg cold, but had lost a lot of its heat. - lobster crepes were really cheesy. I mean, like, all I tasted was cream cheese. Was it injected with lobster flavoring? - my dish was OK, but largely tasteless. - soup was bland. - fried shrimp and fries were OK, but honestly Red Lobster makes it better. - The mussels in my dish were severely undercooked. But brownie points for using fresh mussels. But what REALLY irks me was that there's no auto flush or auto faucets in their restrooms. What the hell? You have a guy in a suit to greet but you can't afford auto flush? Honestly, I'd rather go to Texas Roadhouse or Red Lobster. Take your date here if you want a 2.5 star experience.

This review is about New England Clam Chowder only. And the rating reflects only the chowder. Clam Chowder is a difficult soup to prepare. It is just a chowder, but to get the right amount of the clam flavor and the saltiness without getting the white cream to be overwhelming is not an easy task for the chef. So the McCormick still can not get this clam chowder correctly. Depending which McCormick, you go there seems to be some inconsistency. So the one in Troy's chowder has been just too salty.

My husband and I stopped in for the best happy hour in town. It is only eligible by the bar from 4-7pm, so I scoped the place out for a booth as it was packed around 6pm. I found one that still needed cleaning and asked a bartender if we could get it cleaned off. Within 2 minutes, someone came by and we were seated quickly. We ordered the BBQ chicken tenders to try off of the $2.99 menu. We didn't expect much, but they came out with celery, carrots, ranch to dip, and 6 little pieces of chicken covered in BBQ sauce. These were really good and one of my favorite dishes we ordered. We also ordered a cheeseburger and fries for $5.99 and and the blackened chicken quesadilla for $6.99 to share. It was way too much food! The portion sizes are huge for this small price. The burger was ordered medium-well, but I sent it back because it tasted burned. Our waitress told us the burgers are charred, however, it tasted as if it was left on the grill a bit too long. We didn't want it completely well done. She kindly sent it back and had it remade, it was inedible. When the new one came out, it was delicious. The fries were also fresh and perfectly crispy. The quesadilla came out hot and tasted great. It has a lot more cheese and vegetables than it did chicken, which was expected for the low price menu. It still tasted great though. In order to get this bar menu pricing, you need to order a beverage for $3.25 or more. I got a fresh made strawberry lemonade, which cost $5.00 and an additional $1.00 per refill. It was very refreshing and you could tell the strawberries are freshly cut before going in the lemonade. Overall, our food wasn't too bad. For less than $30 you can get a decent dinner off this menu. One issue we did have was the service is painfully slow. We got there at 6pm and it was still busy from happy hour, but after 7pm when the places emptied out, our waitress was still hard to find. I had to wait almost 30 minutes just to get a refill on water and lemonade. We also didn't see her when our food came out initially to tell her about the burger for about 20 minutes. We waited a lot longer than we should have and spent more time there than necessary due to the slow service. I would come back as the food is good quality, but I'd probably come earlier to beat the rush. The place could also use a facelift. Some other locations we've visited in other States are new and luxurious. This location is dated, from the sign outside to the interior decor. It wouldn't hurt to spruce up the place.

We ate here with some old friends while visiting the area. The hostess was very pleasant and seated us within 5 minutes. Our waiter brought water right away and took our drink orders. I had the raspberry mule and it was delicious, $10. After our friends arrived our waiter jumped on the slow train to somewhere other than our table. The rest of our evening was spent wondering if he was going to ever come back and if he might be able to crack a smile when he did. That part was a bummer. We ordered calamari and it came our rather quickly and was good. Our entrée orders took a very long time to arrive, but were all delicious. I loved the grilled shrimp with polenta, 17.99. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Our waiter, well, he left a lot to be desired and we frankly expected more from the waitstaff given the money we spent for four people to eat and have cocktails. Food was great, service left us wanting.

When I was living in Chicago we went to M&S regularly for happy hour since I was living on a student's budget. Their burgers were $2 and came with fries. They were always cooked perfectly and I remember always being impressed. Fast forward to last night and I was underwhelmed with Troy's happy hour. Clearly not as bustling as the downtown Windy location but being a chain I guess I expected a little more. Service was OK enough...I gather happy hour isn't killing it for the wait staff here. The bar was kind of slow. We ordered an app of the Buffalo Chicken "Strips". Think more along the lines of chicken chunks. They were really tasty and about what I expected for $3. Onto entrees...I ordered the burger with fries for $5 and requested garlic parm fries off their app menu as an upcharge. My girl had the chicken lettuce wraps. The burger was tasty...maybe a little dry but all the ingredients were fresh but the fries were meh at best. I think the garlic and parm was an afterthought by the cook after they had already made normal fries. I didn't get any real garlic or parm flavor and the parmesan was dry and flavorless when I tasted it alone. Better ingredients would've made all the difference. The lettuce wraps were plated as two mounds of chicken to fill the wraps with, but the lettuce was underneath the filling so it was kind of messy to get to the wrappers. The food was fine for what it was and I know it was happy hour so I kept my expectations low. Let's just say that the happy hour menu wouldn't bring me back.

Thank God for nice moms. My BF's birthday was in May and since his mom recently moved out of state, she wanted to do something nice for him and I, so she paid for our meal via $100 gift card. I read the reviews and seriously was like "Ohhhh crap, this place sucks." Well, at least we weren't paying for it... We had a reservation and they were prompt with seating us in a nice booth in the front. There was a VIP card on our table, but we never did figure out why. We weren't treated any differently, and they took the VIP card away like 5 mins after we sat down. That kinda hurt my feelings. :) The place was pretty hoppin. Lots of families with children, not exactly my idea of a "romantic dinner" but oh well, we were hungry, and let's not forget the free birthday dinner part. The waitress was really nice, and it bums me out I can't remember her name, cuz we gave her an AWESOME tip. She was helpful with the wine list, being we're both beer drinkers, she selected a nice mild wine for us, and we split a bottle. It was white, that's all I remember about the wine, and i think it was the least expensive bottle they had... We had the crab cake appetizer and although it was delicious, it was fucking tiny. Like serious fork wars were going on for the last bite. He won. Damn birthdays. I had some kind of parmesan crusted something, I think it might have been walleye. I don't remember what he had but maybe scallops. He usually orders scallops. Mine was overall just really greasy and everything was cooked in butter so it all tasted pretty much the same. The veggies and the fish, and the breading slid right off. Yuck. I ate it anyway. The veggies too. The BF liked his, and it didn't look like it was all cooked in butter. Lucky him. They gave him a pretty little sundae birthday cake thing, and I think they added it to the bill, but since we didn't pay the bill, I could be wrong, but it didn't matter anyway. The waitress, again, very very nice. I think we might go back, to try some apps and maybe hang for happy hour, but without a gift card I don't know that I would have dinner there again. It was just underwhelming, considering how many amazing seafood places are around. /Meh!!!

Came here with my parents for dinner on a Monday night. We had made a reservation beforehand and were seated without wait in one of their mini booth rooms. Service was friendly albeit slow. I ordered the chef's dinner special for $24.99 which included soup/salad, an entree and dessert. Chose the New England clam chowder, beef tenderloin with shrimp, and creme brule. The soup was by far the best part of the meal. It had a good consistency with a very nice portion of clams though it was on the saltier side. The rest of the meal just went downhill from there. The entree was mostly mashed potatoes with a little bit of green beans, 3 shrimp, and 5 small "medallions" of tenderloin. The shrimp and beans must have been cooked in a ridiculous amount of butter because the rest of the plate was practically drowning in butter. The beans were also mushy and overcooked but luckily none of the protein was. You could tell however that the beef was far from being tender. Even though it was cooked medium rare, it was very difficult to cut and chew because it was so tough and chewy :( Finally the creme brule came and that was absolutely awful. First it took forever to come out and when it did, instead of finding a nicely crunchy caramelized sugar top, it was super soft like it had been sitting for a while after it'd been torched. The custard underneath was no better and was not smooth at all. We also got the double chocolate mousse cake which was pretty good. My dad got the apple sea bass and mom the steak and lobster. Our family loves eating seafood and it was very easy to tell that all of the seafood served was far from being fresh. The lobster was ridiculously salty, enough that the only way we could eat it was with the pile of mashed potatoes that came with my meal. The steak was also disgusting with heavily charred parts and again, not very tender. All in all it was a very disappointing meal and we will not be returning.

Very... very nice place. We had received a gift card for McCormick & Schmicks and had decided to go try it out. We landed in the midst of happy hour, which... to me... just made everything all that much better. The service was great... the food was fantastic.... the clam chowder was amazing.... and boy did they keep the drinks flowing. What more can you ask for at a place like that? We had started off with some simple calamari, and then moved our way up the appetizer list to the full on dinner section. We were impressed with everything that was coming our way, so we figured that we had to be on the right track somehow. And by all means... we were. I know my steak that I ordered was fantastic, and I know my wife's pasta and seafood was pretty tasty by her means. It was a little pricey. Hence why we went with a gift card... but I think that can be offset by great food, great service, and an overall great atmosphere to have a meal at.

Went on a Wednesday evening for anniversary dinner. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer, which was to die for! The chowder was very good, and the walnut salad was excellent. Lots of walnuts and feta cheese and a tasty dressing. I ordered the beef medallions and shrimp scampi, both were excellent. It came with fresh green beans, done perfectly - not too crunchy, not overcooked. The beef was done exactly as I requested. The chocolate cake was very rich - perfect for a special occasion. The only thing that I would do differently would be to have a baked potato instead of the mashed potatoes. They were only average. Service was very good. Since my hubby is hard of hearing we had a booth, which I would recommend. The booths are very high and closed in, so you can have a private conversation, and the other restaurant noises are at a minimum.

Went here for lunch the other day. MEH is almost too nice. Had a salad, fries and asparagus. All were super mediocre and for $19, TOTALLY not worth it. I hear they have a good happy hour - but I won't be back to find out.

Went for a business lunch with a group of about 10. As we were walked back to our table, we had to navigate between random chairs which were apparently moved to gather the tables to make our larger table. It was odd that the random chairs were just scattered in the middle, and not placed strategically out of the way. Perhaps the hostess would have seen this had she walked us to our table. Instead, she rounded the corner and pointed where our table was....A bit odd, I thought. Not like there was a long line waiting. Anyway, despite this quirky start.... I will say, the server was very efficient (I can not believe I did not get his name), without being too intrusive The food was decent, but for the price, I honestly was not WOW'ed! I had one of the specials, an herbed perch, no starch, double vegetables (Yep, I'm low carbing it....DON'T JUDGE ME). I will say, the orders were all correct, and did not take too long to come out. My issue is jst price vs value. I woudl return, especially for a business lunch as the atmosphere was conducive to a business discussion.

I've come here a couple of times with clients and I must admit the ambiance is very nice. It's a very classy place, but at the same time you can also just come here for a drink too since they do have a separate area for the bar. The food is great here, just don't order the oysters which I think are overpriced and not that fresh nor are they that big. I'm from the Philippines so these oysters they served don't even come close, in fact we would just throw them away if I were back home.. They do have great soups. It is pricier than surrounding restaurants, but you pay for the location and ambiance.. good wine selection too..

I have been to this location twice, most recently for a friend's birthday. I called ahead for reservation as it was a Saturday night. They print their menus and they printed special ones for our table with a "happy birthday" message on the top. It is interesting that other people have mentioned poor service here. Our server was excellent. She was friendly, prompt and checked in with us more than once. She also was amused that the birthday boy wore an Iron Man mask to dinner rather than perturbed. I should mention that the Birthday boy was turning 30. The restaurant has a good cocktail menu that has a good mix of cocktails (both girly and manly). The only negative is of course that high end cocktails are pricey. We split the firecracker shrimp to start. It was good, though it would be impressive to mess up fried shrimp, but the sauce was also good. I had the goat cheese and pistachio salad. The goat cheese is basically a fried ball of cheese, something else you can not go wrong with in my opinion. I split a salmon, shrimp and stuffed shrimp dish with a friend. The shrimp was good, nothing exceptional. The salmon, however, was great, melt in your mouth, a perfectly cooked piece of fish. Another in our group had the salmon blacked and said the same. The birthday guy had creme brulee for desert. I tried it and wished I was not so full. It had a couple of overly burned sugar spots, but generally was a really good, creamy brulee. The last time we were here our group had the lobster bisque, salmon pasta and the mac and cheese. Both the bisque and mac and cheese are excellent. The bisque had a good amount of lobster in it. The salmon pasta comes in cream sauce with small pieces of salmon, asparagus and some other veggies. It is good but the mac and cheese is better. It has shrimp and sausage and is the right amount of creamy-chessyness.

What will $8.90 get you here? If you come here for happy hour, it will get you a Wave Bender (non alcoholic drink consisting of Sprite, Grenadine and something else), boneless buffalo chicken tenders and a half pound cheeseburger and fries. Fantastic happy hour menu, lots of variety for seafood and non-seafood eaters alike, and they are generous with the portions. I couldn't even finish my burger. Everyone else seemed happy with their choices as well, will definitely be back!

Thanks!!

I love that they have a new menu every single day. Love the service as everyone was super friendly and gave good recs. I highly recommend the calamari! Other than that, the food was a little overpriced imho. I always get their dessert, which is really good.

From what I've read, seems the only time a bargain hunter should visit this establishment is at HAPPY HOUR. Well, took my chances visiting here with a group of coworkers who pressured me into joining them for an early lunch, assuring me the lunch prices were reasonable and the food was BEYOND COMPARE. Exceptional ambiance has always been a HUGE TURNOFF as it usually seems indicative of a restaurant trying to overcompensate for average food to justify HUGE prices. I had no idea this place was noted for SEAFOOD, as everyone in our party was ordering anything but, so I followed along getting a chicken dish that was way too greasy, with way too much rice and way too salty. Sad to say, but I've had better chicken at THE RAMS HORN, for less money. The complimentary bread served wasn't much better than the buns of a Filet-O-Fish sandwich at Micky Dees. The server was somewhat brusque, slow with the refils, probably not appreciating the fact nobody in our group ordered anything alcoholic. Oh well, I should have known this was going to be just another expensive over-rated CHAIN RESTAURANT with fancy ambience experience. Of course, the average age of the other patrons outside of our group seemed to be about 75, proving true the notion "the tastebuds of the elderly are shot after a certain age".

Tough review -- my wife said halibut was great and my tilapia was great. However, service was painfully slow. Salad arrived without dressing. Coffee was terrible. Bill was not accurate. Dined here on 7/17/12 for my son's birthday. Christina was our waitress. First of all she did not bring all of the drinks. She forgot to bring my other son his drink, he must have waited at least 10 minutes for her to come back with his. She brought his drink with the appetizers that we ordered. It seemed like it took forever for our dinners to arrive. We were in the dining room which was almost empty. Normally one of the managers would have stopped by to see how we were doing. Nobody stopped by. Overall the service was terrible so I only left a 10% tip. The following day I checked my checking account balance because I used my debit card to pay for the dinner and lo and behold Christina had added an additional $10 onto my card. I immediately called the restaurant and talked to Josh the GM who looked into the so called tip increase. He acknowledged what had happened and apologized for the inconvenience. He said he would refund me the $10 and send me a gift certificate for my troubles. I got the $10 but have never rec'd the gift certificate. Its been over 5 weeks and I still have not seen the certificate. I doubt I would ever go back there. The food was OK but was not worth the amount they charged. If anyone goes there PLEASE CHECK YOUR STATEMENT TO MAKE SURE AN ADDITIONAL TIP WAS NOT ADDED. They did it to me and I'm sure they have done it to others.
