Nice dinning environment. You have a huge menu list to pick up what you eat. Very keen service. Fresh and juicy shushi with sweet taste. The chef is a really good guy,he loves laughing :),the price is worthy of what you get. I love the sweet & sour salad before you start on the main dish.

The sushi is delicious, especially the yum yum roll. I will definitely be back to try their other food.

The SO and I were craving something different, so we decided to visit Haru for the first time yesterday evening. I was really impressed! The location is certainly tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, so it's easy to miss. The interior is very clean, the decor is pleasing, and the servers were attentive and cheerful. We decided to order the three roll special which came with a salad and soup. The salad was pretty large and the ginger dressing was tasty. The soup was definitely a standout. Super thick noodles perfect for slurping with scallions and radish. The broth was PERFECT. We always have tamago (egg) at every sushi/noodle place we go to, and Haru was very generous. The egg was sweet and there was certainly a lot of it. The rolls were sushi, salmon, and California. The rice was cooked nicely, and the slices of the fish were a little small, but I thought they seemed like they were of good quality. Considering the final tab was $20 without tip ($15 for the roll combo with soup, $5 for the 2 tamago) and we left feeling very full and very satisfied, I would absolutely visit again. I was so tempted to purchase the fried whole snapper, but I can't get over how terrifying it looks. Next time we go, I'll definitely try another soup and likely stick to specialty rolls. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Still comes through on my credit card as Tomo, not sure if they needed to shed the name due to reputation or what but so far so good. Only thing that was a bit annoying was the 'Gyoza' is actually vegetable gyoza. Been to a lot of such restaurants and by default Gyoza typically has pork and and Vegetable Gyoza is listed as such. Whole fried fish did not disappoint.

We came early like 5ish so really empty. No wait. Food is huge portions. Be warned. We ordered so much food! Came in skinny and left looking like I'm 6 months pregnant! We had the fried chicken, edamame, sashimi for appetizers. Really fresh tasting sashimi! Loved all the apps. Then came out spicy seafood ramen, hamachi kana and spicy tuna roll. Wow! Way too much food! I shared my ramen and still couldn't finish it. The hamachi was really tender and yummy! Actually I liked all the food we had. So why not 5 stars? Well...I was dying of thirst as our server never came back to refill my tea. One cup the whole 2 hours we were there until I flag her down for a refill. Can you imagine eating all the spicy salty food without a drink?! Anyways, I'd come back but maybe order all my drinks right away so I won't go thirsty.

Just came here based on Yelp reviews. Truly amazing. Every single thing we had was so good and fresh. We ordered way too much, having not been and not knowing the portions, but everything was great. Sashimi was so fresh, perfect ginger dressing on my salad, rolls were HUGE and yummy, udon my son had was super good. I also had a beef Bento Box and it should have been all I ordered. Very generous and delish. New fave spot!

They have a nice menu with a great variety of options. Tried and enjoyed several sushi rolls. The dragon roll is good. Also tried salmon skin, shrimp tempura and sweet potato tempura roll. Our least favorite was their California roll. My daughter tried an udon noodle bowl and absolutely loved it! The ramen bowl with tonkatsu is very good too. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

2 words. Takoyaki Okonomiyaki. They serve this here!!!! Say what?! I know. That was my reaction too. I can't believe this place was sitting right under my nose all along since I do frequent H Mart and this restaurant is right next door. My fellow Californian foodie friends caught wind of this place and we came here specifically to get the above 2 items. From looking at the outside, the restaurant is way more spacious than one would expect. Walking in, we were welcomed right away by the 2 sushi chefs and the decor was nice and modern. They're doing a lot of remodeling in this plaza so I half expected it to look grungy inside also but it was nothing of the sort. Menu was extensive. From udon to sushi rolls, a variety of chirashi bowls, ramen, dons, they had pretty much everything someone craving Japanese food could desire. I was craving rice so I ordered the ten don (don meaning rice bowl) which is basically tempura and rice drenched in a sauce. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The sauce had more of a soy sauce taste than I'm used to but was still good. My don came with a iceberg lettuce salad with this very yummy citrusy ginger salad dressing and a generous bowl of udon. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The udon broth was a little fishy however. Maybe they overdid it on the dashi. I'm Asian though so it wasn't too bad and my palate actually got used to it but I'm definitely used to a lighter and more subtle flavored udon broth. Could be just an off night for the udon though. Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki were also very good. Not the best I've ever had but then again I compare it to what I've had in Japan so that's not a fair battle. They were more than suitable substitutes so kudos to Haru. The takoyaki were made fresh and came out piping hot. Give them a minute before you gobble them up because you could potentially burn your mouth. Okonomiyaki was also flavorful and hit the spot. My friend was not a fan of bonito flakes and just a warning they really sprinkle that stuff on! I didn't have a chance to try the sashimi and the chirashi bowls were calling my name. Will be back for sure.

Awesome awesome food. I have been looking for a place that served takoyaki and okonomiyaki; and we finally found it!! We also got the tonkatsu Ramen as well as the spicy seafood. Both awesome ramen. Great broth. I love the noodles. Also had an amazing experience with our server who was more than helpful and extremely knowledgeable. She had a passion for food like we do so it was a major plus. Overall, great service and food! Will definitely come again!

I'm an instant fan of this place. First, and foremost, I can ride my bike here. I was skeptical of the location, but even my favorite Trizest is in a plaza and it's not about the digs, it's about the food, amirite? Ok, let's get to the business. The menu is huge. It's one of those places in which you will have to go to multiple times in order to really understand its true goodness. First, up was a simple salad. The house salad was $2 bucks so I thought, "why not?" It was good. For two bucks, it was nice and refreshing. Nothing terribly original about the salad, but the dressing was good and since I am a fan of ginger dressing it was a nice start. I ordered gyoza... because who doesn't love fried pork deliciousness wrapped up in a nice little bite sized chunk? Yeah. Silly question. Everyone does. This is standard, but really, I just love gyoza so I order it all. the. time. It was good. No complaints. Next, I ordered a pork miso ramen. I was a little bummed that they didn't have a chicken miso ramen because that's what I was more in the mood for, but it was still good. The ramen came out hot and savory. It was freakin' huge as ramen usually is. Definitely share this with someone. It wasn't spicy so I asked for their array of hot sauce and spices. When it was all mixed together it was a lovely little soup that I will continue to eat tomorrow... and possibly the next day... Honestly, the showstoppers here was the sushi roll and the fish. The sushi roll was the firecracker. It was shrimp tempura, crab salad, avocado, spicy mayo and some other deliciousness. It was tough to pick out a sushi roll because they all sounded fantastic. Let me tell you... I was not disappointed at all. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious and fresh it was. I already know I will be coming back to get the volcano roll. With all that food one would think there couldn't be enough room to possibly get more, right? Wrong. A red snapper, whole fried fish was delivered to the table. Now, it's apparently an appetizer, but let's be honest here... it's a meal. I expected a little baby fish and what I got was a huge red snapper that was purchased fresh from the market just for me! The manager said that any time this is ordered they go to the H Mart (Asian market) next door and buy one fresh. That makes so much sense and is completely economical for them. It's probably the most perfect spot for an Asian restaurant to be next to an Asian mart. The fish was really quite good. It seems weird to Americans to eat a whole huge fried fish because it's scary. What do you do? How do you eat it? Well, you just dive right in and eat the fish... just like all the other fish you've ever eaten except this is much better and comes sitting in a bed of delicious sweet and sour type sauce with vegetables. This fish is also posted in another person's post. Get this fish. Don't think about it. Just get it. Sy Thai used to have this on their menu, but since no one ordered it they stopped. What a shame. Now, Haru has it and you need to get it. Ask the waitress how to eat it. Don't be scurrrrrred. The overall experience AND food was excellent. The waitress explained several dishes, talked with us about the change from Tomo to Haru and was an excellent server in general. The food couldn't have been better. I really want these guys to do well. They are a nice mix of fusion and traditional. If they keep up their quality service and food I think they are going to do just fine in Troy. :)

Now I can say with confidence that I've found my favorite sushi place in Oakland County. My previous favorites were by default and usually followed with a "but" or "well," when recommending to others, but this place is legitimate. The sashimi is hands down the freshest I've had in Michigan, although still not quite like what I've had in Vancouver. The rolls are inventive and creative, and well, we've been here every week for four weeks. The best part is the rolls are huge! I always have leftovers, usually ordering one of the fancier rolls (you will not be disappointed by the Amazing Roll, $11) and one of the simpler ones. The spicy tuna ($5.50) is actually spicy. The chef's sashimi platter for $24 includes an assortment of 14 pieces (again, each piece is quite big; Haru's one piece of salmon or tuna would be another spot's two) with udon noodles and rice (the extra rice really is not necessary though). All the combo rolls come with udon, and the menu also includes Japanese and Korean dishes, although I haven't had anything beyond sushi, udon and appetizers so can't speak for those. My mom only gets the sashimi salad ($15), and the size of the bowl is outrageous. An infant could lie in the bowl comfortably. It's FILLED with tuna and salmon and veggies and bright salad greens (re: not iceberg). And you're supposed to add rice to it. Madness. Midweek isn't particularly busy. For Fridays, try to get there before 7:30 because it gets packed, and there's a bit of a wait. Also, getting all the sushi is slow during busier times since it's only two men making it all. Everyone is also very friendly: They greet you enthusiastically on the way in as they do on the way out.

Amazing experience! A little upset that Tomo closed but this new place is definitely worth it! They still serve Korean food although they do not have Korean bbq anymore. But! Shabu shabu has arrived, and that is a must try on my list when I stop by again. Great service for a great price, what more is there to ask for? After renovation, the place does not look much different from previously before. Chirashi is amazing!!

I love the new update to this place. Always my go to place for udon & ramen! Big portions! Try the yakataki appetizer, go good! And good amount of seafood inside, always coming pretty hot and fresh. I like the tempura udon also, big portion. Comes w the udon and a big side of fried veggies & shrimp. Totally worth the money, just can never finish it. They also have udon & side dish (sushi, rice) usually a good portion also, if u wanted udon and sushi, its a good price. As for ramen, the miso ramen & pork ramen is probably my bf favorite. And its not oily either, some of the ramen bowls are huge also! But he does wish there were more pork in the pork ramen haha. Also try their side menu of fish, octopus & ect. Very fresh and excellent. They also offer shabu shabu, but u have to order 2 or more items. Kinda sad since it gets costly for just one person or even 2. Wish we were able to order just one oder. I think the sushi is ok, sometimes its hit miss, but the rolls are food size and many varieties.

I was really excited to try this place as there are limited authentic Japanese options here (aside from sushi) short of going to Novi and Canton. Noble Fish is my generally go to sushi place, but after trying Haru, I think Noble has met its match! I was surprised that the menu was so extensive, and I am excited to come back and try more dishes. I got the chirashi lunch special which was delicious; the fish was super fresh and beautifully presented. I got takeout today so I cannot comment on the service, but everyone sure was friendly. I was greeted by the sushi chef and waitresses when I came to the door and also when I left. I will definitely be back!

Stopped in for a quick dinner. This restaurant seems to focus on all things Japanese - not much emphasis on sushi. Got the okonomiyaki (pancake) to start. This is a must try! Then got the sashimi bibimbap which was huge, light, and refreshing. It comes with rice and spicy sauce. Next got the donburi katsu and udon combo. This was so-so. The sashimi bibimbap and okonomiyaki were the real stars of the show! Service is good and the restaurant is clean. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving some Japanese!

Amazing! Seriously authentic hidden gem in Troy! Everything here is fantastic! The sushi and small Japanese tapas are fresh and mouth watering! I've tried my fair share of ramen living in New York and this place is my favorite!! The shabu shabu is amazing in the winter as well! This place is one of my favs to visit in Michigan. Not only is it delicious the interior is modern and very clean. Definitely a great place for date night or a nice evening with friends. LOVE LOVE it! I will be back!

This New Yorker certainly didn't expect to find authentic, quality Japanese food while in Michigan for the weekend... and in a shopping plaza no less. Well, expectations exceeded. Haru is a hidden gem. We stopped for lunch and ordered spicy seafood ramen, sashimi, chashu pork, shishamo, grilled squid, hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), and spicy tuna salad. Everything was excellent, and the service was top-notch. I only regret not taking photos of our meal. Looking forward to my next visit!

I have driven by a number of times and finally circumstances allowed me to try it. In a word, great. Had the miso Ramen and a philly roll. Both great. Roll was fresh and flavorful. Miso was delicious. Will definitely be back.

After reading the reviews on Yelp, my husband and I decided to try this restaurant. It was amazing! We ordered a tuna and octopus salad, a special roll ( don't remember the name but it was one of the best I ever had) and shared a big salad bowl with raw fish. We loved every dish. We will definitely come back to try every item on the menu. Noble Fish used to be my favorite but now I think this one is better.

You won't find better sushi, especially for the price. I've have sushi from many places and this is comparable to the best the only other place I can think of is Noble Fish.

Have had it a couple times, great sushi, good service, and good prices. My only request would be for them to carry the low sodium soy sauce that many other sushi places offer. Haven't had a chance to try the more traditional dishes but they always look good as well!

So delicious and the staff is amazing!! If you're with a party of 3 or more, I highly recommend the shabu/hot pot. Beef is my personal favorite. It comes with plenty of broth and TONS of fresh vegetables. I simmer the veggies in the broth for a while before dunking the beef slices. Haru gives the traditional sauces to eat it with, so you get some extra flavor with the sauces. The best part is they will use your leftover broth to cook noodles or juk (Korean porridge) for just $3 more. Noodles or rice simmering in a beef/vegetable broth? Yes. Please. It's such great food at such an awesome price. I'm definitely going to try the duck hot pot next time! The sushi is also very good. The portions are great and the fish is very, very fresh. Nothing makes me happier than great sushi rice and fresh fish, and Haru knows what I like! And they carry Japanese beers and sakes. Need I say more? #sakenight! Try this place out - you won't regret it.

I love their sushi! Friendly staff and good food! I've been here a couple times now since it changed from TOMO to Haru. I believe the Sushi chef is the same. Haven't been disappointed yet?

Haru, I've been waiting for you, maybe all of my life? Well, at least since I moved near their location at Big Beaver and Dequinder. While scrolling through Yelp, I noted the "Hot and New" symbol which sometimes is code for "another lackluster addition to the food scene." But the Yelp photos showed me a gloriously whole and fried fish, surrounded by a peppery and colorful sauce- the likes of which I haven't seen since my trip to Thailand last summer. The picture brought me in and the perfectly executed dish will bring me back. Sushi was delicious and fresh, and the other items were tasty as well- but the fish was the star of the show, the unique touch that ensures many return visits. My advice: Get over the weirdness of being served fish with a head. Whenever Haru receives an order for this dish, they literally walk to the market next door to get a fresh snapper, and then work their magic. Can't wait to sample the rest of their menu- and I am beyond grateful that they opened right in my neighborhood. Please go, enjoy, and post all over social media so they stay around.

I was craving for good sushi. I decided to go to Troy to eat a dinner, since I found out that Nori-san, Master Sushi Chef was moved to this restaurant as a partner from Ann Arbor. I had snapper agedashi as an appetizer, which was excellent. Each sushi had harmony between the fish and the sushi rice. All the fish were fresh and were tasty. The price was reasonable. I had hirame, uni, maguro, shimesaba, hotate, hamachi, hokkigai and salmon-skin roll. I was really satisfied with the quality of the foods and services I received. Good job! Thank you.

They do seem to try. There was much I liked here. The dishes and restaurant are nice. The staff was nice. The prices are pretty steep, though, and udon came with everything, it seemed. But one super weird thing happened. My mother and husband both got tempura ($15 + had to pay extra for rice) and I had the big kaiseki bento ($24). When theirs came it was clear that rather than tempura batter (which is light colored and, well, a batter) they received breaded shrimp and other pieces. That's a big difference. It looked like chicken fingers at Denny's. Now I can get that, I guess. You just decide that it isn't authentic. But then when my bento arrived with tempura, mine was real tempura, with the batter coating. So we had the same thing, but mine was authentic tempura, and theirs was Denny's tempura. My dish arrived about 10 minutes after theirs... did someone have to run to the store to get more batter? That was a first for me. Also, the sushi seemed a little past its prime. I took one bite of my sashimi but opted not to finish for fear that it had turned. As we experienced it, this was not authentic, but an unfortunate near miss. I know everyone claims to know what authentic is. But for me, if you want the best, most authentic Japanese food on this side of town, the best I know of is Take Sushi in Rochester Hills.

The staff sucks but the sushi is really amazing so I keep coming back. I have to say it's one of the more expensive sushi places though
