If you're downriver and have a craving for Mediterranean cuisine. Make sure you make your way over to this reataurant. It's been good back then when the shop was just a fraction of its size. Now that it's expanded like crazy,, It's still the best middle eastern restaurant here downriver. Actutually, lemme scratch that,,, the best middle eastern restaurant in MICHIGAN as far as I'm concerned. Every time I enter the premises to eat, they seems to never miss a beat. The bread is fresh, the garlic paste is extra potent and the tea is on point. The main events are also destructive. My main focus in a Middle Eastern joint is their Kibbe Nayee. It's how I put the restaurant to the test. Plus it defines the level of authenticity for me. Whenever I'm here, I always get their Libbey Nayee,, It's yummy, it's fresh and it's delish. IF you're not the adventurous type, Deboned chicken is where it's at. Please order this dish with the rice pilaf. Fries is an American thing. It's highly embarrassing when you're eating with someone who's passionate about their food. Their Lamb Kabob is very good as well. Lamb always has great flavor and the way they execute it is sublime. I been coming here for the last 10 years and will continue to come here til the end of time. This restaurant to me is the best of the best. The measuring stick for anything Middle Eastern. Life is short, stop eating boring food. Follow me on instagram and snapchat: rodtorres3 Weeeeeeeeeeee!

So much food! Entrees are good for two people with leftovers as well. The lemon chicken is good, the two kebabs and Kafta is good. Nothing can go wrong here. Been here 10+ times and it's always consistently good. Service is good, quick, friendly. They do a good amount of carry out also, but then you lose out on the unlimited pita bread. Show your triple AAA card for a discount, I think...

One of the best middle eastern restaurants in the Downriver area. I stopped in for lunch recently, and they were packed, despite that service was still quick. Not as speedy as it could have been, but good enough to not detract. I've been in here more than a dozen times and never had bad food. Prices are a bit higher than at some of the other area places, but for the most part the food here is better, so you get what you pay for. They use a soda machine for iced tea, it's not fresh brewed. That's my biggest and only real complaint. I'm particular about my tea. My only other small complaint is that I personally don't care for the hummos. It comes displayed beautifully, but it's a bit more bland than I would like. Others I've dined with have raved over it though, so that's more my taste profile than an actual complaint. The fresh made bread is fantastic and the garlic sauce is among the best I've ever had. Food portions are huge. The place is large, but the decor allows it to still feel a bit homey and it's in a great easy to access location. Bathrooms are always clean and there is plenty of parking in the front and rear of the building.

Favorite Middle Eastern downriver. Everything there is always great. Everything is fresh, pleasant wait staff. Nice big dining room that is very family friendly. All of their food is so good. There is a lot of Middle Eastern options around here, this one is the best in my opinion!

Food was fresh and delicious. Wait staff is friendly and very helpful. They were pretty busy as you would expect for a Saturday night but did not compromise service. I will definitely return and reccomend for lunch and dinner.

I ordered over the phone just before close. Pick up. They missed my order for grape leaves but once I noticed they offered me a beverage while I waited and gave me the grape leaves with no charge. The lamb Kabobs were so delicious and tender, ordered medium rare, just perfect. Lentil soup, hummus, garlic sauce and lamb grape leaves are all great. Definitely coming back next time I am in Michigan! The staff is friendly and keeps you coming back! Yum! Portions are large.

Love this place! We eat here probably 3 times per month. The service is prompt and always very friendly. The food is deeeeelicious. We always get the Combo for 2. I have NEVER been disappointed.

I absolutely love this place. Great food, great vibe from the patrons. The service is pretty good. The platter for 2 is big enough for 3. I get it with my wife and friend every time,,

Good food and the mountain dew is very good and seems like it is better than out of the can. Would come back again.

I've had lunch here a couple times and both were awesome! The veggie ghallaba with almond rice was awesome and I've also had the falafel which I loved. The place is huge, clean and attentively staffed. This will be on my regular lunch rotation! Try it, you will like it. If its good enough for me and my snooty highbrow friends it good for you!

This place is outstanding! The toum (garlic sauce) is incredibly delicious and served with the fluffy, warm pita bread makes for a great start to any of their wonderful entrees. I've been here numerous times, and have NEVER had a bad meal and/or service. You will not be disappointed with this middle eastern restaurant. It's the best place Downriver for this type of cuisine. I love the shawarma and fattoush. Yummy!

Best Mediterranean food in the area! Everything is made FRESH. Plenty vegetarian options. My family and I come here all the time and never get sick of it. Amazing food, great prices, high quality

Delicious food, amazing and tasty! One of a kind gem in Taylor. Absolutely one of the best!!!!

  • Josiah W.

Love this place. I've been going here with my family for years, always a great experience. I appreciate the quick, kind, down to earth service. No special suggestions or anything too spectacular. Very professional. Definitely the best middle eastern food Downriver! The free, freshly baked pita bread and garlic dip is way better than any other complimentary bread at any restaurant. Love their rice too! I'm always amazed at how delicious, tender, and juicy their grilled chicken. It's honestly so impressive. The prices are reasonable: we can feed 4 adults for 30$, and the proportions are great. I will continue to come back here as long as everything here stays great.

    (5)
  • Bri D.

Ummmm, I'm not sure what happened to the prices or the quality of their food but something is not right. The lamb is no longer tender and flavorful but it's more expensive than I remember. I'm really disappointed because Ireally loved this local gem. Now I'll pass and drive to Dearborn Heights and eat at Al Ameer. Just some advice, don't increase your prices and decrease quality.

I love this restaurant I always get the Power juice and a sandwich and I get that for about 7 bucks (not including the tip) and I get good service. I highly recommend this place with its good food friendly service and great juices and smoothies.

Pros: very good food, authentic, convenient location, reasonable price Cons: my gallayah was a little bit too oily, still good, but I thought it could use less oil

I'm from Texas and my boyfriend takes me here when I get off or get to the airport. I've never had middle eastern food as delicious as this and it's wonderful. I think about it even when I"m back home and wish there was something as delicious as this here and there isn't. I recommend Fattoush salad and lamb shawarma, the garlic sauce and fresh hot pita is the best thing in Michigan. Fair warning: garlic will linger in your breath ALL day.

  • Ray C.

This is a very good restaurant and most people would think it was delicious. but I am sort of a health nut and I don't think vegetable oil is good in my humus or my rice. I'm not asking for extra virgin but at least give me olive oil. The waitress had to ask the cook because she didn't know what kind of oil they used.

Very good. However, I "LOVE" shawarma & was disappointed with Malek's. I have tried it several times & it is just seems bland. However, their fottoush, hummus & garlic were outstanding! Would definitely go back, but not for shawarma.

It's been a couple years since I reviewed Malek Al Kabob, and, since then, things have gone from super good to exploding-head good, so I figured I'd update my review. The garlic, which used to be a tad thick, is now smoother and creamier than a baby's butt - probably not the best comparison, but you get the idea. Plus, they give it generously (hate when other places scrimp). The expansion a couple years back made the dining area uber comfy, like a baby's butt. There's like 19,000 places to get good Arabic food in Dearborn (if you count all the moms who cook), and I've been to at least half of them, and, by far, Malek is still my favorite. Every time I order the deboned chicken, I think, "It's impossible for grilled chicken to taste any better than this." Trust me, go to Malek and you'll be showing your food your O-Face.

Malek is an awesome Middle Eastern restaurant. My dad told me about this place and handed me a couple coupons. I figured if my dad (who's 100% Armenian) gave it the seal of approval, I'd have to like it. Gotta love my dad. You're greeted by fresh pillowy pita bread and toum as soon as you sit down. They have a large menu that's heavy on the lamb and chicken but also has plenty of vegetarian options. Malek also has a larger-than-normal appetizer menu, which is great if you come with a group. Our server recommended the boneless chicken meal on our first visit. Jacob and I decided to share it, as the server said it was a lot of food. The meal came with soup or salad and fries or rice. We decided on the fattoush salad and rice with our meal. Jacob loved the fattoush salad. I'm almost sad I don't eat vegetables because the salad looked and smelled wonderful. The chicken was marinated, juicy and so flavorful. The rice pilaf was perfect, almost like my family makes! We've also tried the lamp kabobs (too overcooked but still yummy) and the chicken over hummus (delicious). The food is great, the space is huge but intimate and the service is efficient and friendly. We'll definitely be coming back. Even if it's pricey, Malek gives you enough food for dinner and lunch the next day.

I'll take my 4 back, not consistent. My last visit was horrible. Dry chicken shawarma, kabob was over cooked and dry from the outside but pink in the middle, nasty. Talked with manager, he said their top chef was there. LoL well why are the other chefs working and don't know how to cook your specialty.

My favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in the Downriver area, by a mile. Hummus is always wonderful, though the bread is sometimes hit-or-miss in terms of freshness. I normally get my "usual," a chicken fattoush salad and chicken shawarma. Both are always fresh and well-made, generous with ingredients and dressing. Fantastic toum (garlic sauce/dip) with no fillers (as you'll find at other restaurants). MAK is always busy when I visit, but service has always been quick and friendly. Parking can be difficult during the lunch rush, given the location.

  • Liz W.

I really liked it here. Its super convenient to one of my fave used book stores so I am sure I will be back too. Warm pita bread and garlic sauce are sure to make me happy. Tender and juicy deboned chicken with fluffy rice and more garlic sauce? Yeah more happy. Good salad with a snappy dressing? Mmmm. Perfectly grilled veggies and pink pickles? Ok, ok, you have me. You freaking have me! The garlic sauce is not terribly in your face but it works. My mom actually prefers it here to the blast that is the garlic sauce at the Bucharest Grill for example. I am flexible myself, I just love all garlic sauce to be frank. I was also in a middle eastern lull so everything was making me happily agreeable. I just kept shoveling it in at a steady pace, I'm sure with a big ol grin on my face too. Next time I will have more variety to report, I am always a bit sad by my reviews where I have only tasted certain things but I'm catching up a bit here :).

There's never been a bad experience here. The workers are usually pleasant, the service is pretty quick and the food is absolutely phenomenal. I absolutely love this place! Their hummus is out of this world amazing!! Great place, great food!

This place is great. Both the service and the food were excellent. I had the "super lunch special" with chicken shawarma, and it was reasonably priced and very good.

I love the food from Malek's! And good news, they cater too. We usually get carry out. Even though Malek's recently expanded, there is still sometimes a wait for tables and slower service. It's much easier to call and then just pick up your food. Also, the restaurant gets very loud. There is not much in there to absorb sound, so it can be overwhelming if you are trying to eat and just relax. It may be helpful if they added something to the walls or ceilings to help absorb some of the sound. They've got great variety and the food always tastes fresh and well made. The employees are friendly.

yum......food is very good, but soooo loud!! Nice waitstaff! Oh and the pita....to die for! Im makeing my self hungry!!

My husband and I love this place! The chicken or the vegetable gallayah are awesome. Reasonably priced with enough to eat there and take home a doggie bag! We go there at least once a month. The waitstaff is friendly and it is always clean. I was so glad when they expanded, now they can easily accommodate all their customers!

Love the bread. Decor is nice. Went with my mom last week. Very good salad dressing, hummus, garlic dip, and shish tawook with rice. Potassium broth was fresh. Service was terrible and we did complain to the manager. He took the hummus off our bill. The waiter was a young kid who never came to the table unless he had to bring something we ordered. We waited 20 min for the bill before just going to the register ourselves. Took 5 min to get checked out so in this 25 min our waiter had dissapeared. When we left we seen him wandering outside near the dumpsters. what the f. That kid needs to be fired. My mom was a waitress for many years so when she refuses to leave a tip, you know its bad. We loved the food though.

Been eating here for at least 6 years. The fattoush, chicken shawarma, bread and garlic is amazing! The cheesecake is to die for! I eat here about once a week. Highly recommend!

I had a fattoush salad and a chicken swarma sandwich. They were both PERFECTLY made. I've been here quite a few times and the food and service have always been excellent. The prices are very reasonable too. Definitely check them out if you're in the area!

  • Matthew P.

Staff were very friendly. Free bread and garlic dip were delicious and topped up constantly (don't fill up too much!). The dressing on the salad was also good as it was fresh and brought a sense of the Middle East to it. The meal was amazing - large portions and hot. The chicken was cooked to perfection and not dry. The rice with the peanuts was good and would love to get the recipe. Overall a great place to try middle eastern cuisine

our favorite place to eat! wait staff is ALWAYS friendly and attentive; food is great with a big selection, rice is perfect every time and the bread is always hot and fresh! good date night!

  • Ken S.

The food is awesome, but the service is going to keep me looking. My wife and I dined in, and the waitress was very short with us, but not rude. Second try was a carry out, and when I got home I was missing a dinner. I called and felt like they thought I was trying to scam them out of a $15 dinner. After talking to three people they found my dinner. I went back and I got a sorry, my 45 min old dinner in a crushed box, and some free hummus....in the bag....without asking what we would like. We don't eat hummus. That's why we didn't order it.

  • Nikki C.

Yay! I'm a fan. Thanks to Yelp, I found myself in Malek Al Kabob after seeking out where I could find a veggie juice or smoothie. I went there and got a carrot, banana and honey smoothie. YUM! It was tasty. I also got the veggie grape leaves, which were nice and warm even after I got home and did other things before actually sitting down to eat. They were packaged with a lemon and their home made yogurt sauce (?) and also served with a couple of pitas. Very good. The grape leaves and pita were very tasty and had good flavor! I took a menu with me becuase I would LOVE to go back sometime and actually sit down for a meal. I love chicken shawarma, so maybe that would be something to try.

  • Jon J.

Tired these guys for the first time last night. The hummus and lamb was stellar. The fried kibbie was a little overdone but not so much that it ruined them. Fattoush was alright, I prefer a stronger dressing. The deboned chicken with fries was delicious. We tried a cup each of the lentil, the vegetable with lamb, and the lamb chili. The vegetable with lamb was something I had never had before but I will be coming back for from now on. Basically it's vegetable soup but instead of chunks of beef it's lamb and oh my is it ever good.

  • Matt W.

Have been here a couple times. But the most recent trip will more than likely be my last. I ordered a schawarma (as usual) and the pita bread was soaking wet from the juices soaking thru which left a unruly and distasteful taste and consistency. Not much overall flavor..a bit disappointed. I would recommend other middle eastern restaurants in the nearby area!

    (1)
  • Alesia S.

The garlic dip and pita they give you is oh so yummy. The lunch special is the way to go. I have tried the lamb shwarma and the super combo (veggie). Both are great. The mushroom side is my fav. Awesome value for the price. I will be back soon!!

went here again, this time having the Veggie Gallayah. It was really good, portion was huge, and the soup was good again, and I still love the garlic spread! Loved the service, it seems like they definitely take pride in that. Will definitely come to this place pretty frequently, and glad to see they are on the east side now too!

After hearing so many good things about this place I was really excited to try it. I was craving hommous pretty hardcore the other day and I figured it was time to give this place a shot. So we went in and were sat right away. My boyfriend was tearing into that pita bread and garlic dip stuff. He said something along the lines of "if they ask if we want more pita bread...the answer is yes." It was really warm and delicious. Our waitress was a young girl who was very nice and always had a smile on. She did eventually bring us more bread, much to my boyfriends enjoyment. We got salads with our dinners and those were brought out first, of course. They were very generous in size and pretty good. I could of filled up on the salad and pita bread alone so I only ate half the salad to make sure I didn't get full before the main meal came. I ordered the hommous topped chicken and my boyfriend ordered shish tawook. The menu I saw online had mushrooms on both these dishes, but the menu in the restaurant didn't have them, which was good because neither of us like mushrooms. But I immediately saw a bit of a difference in the menu online compared to the one in the restaurant. The in restaurant menu was better. When the food was brought out I got myself a forkful of chicken and hommous and rice and it hit the spot! It was exactly what I was craving and it was oh so very good. Just thinking about it, I want more! My boyfriend enjoyed his as well and we both were to full to finish so we got to bring some home. Overall, a great experience. Getting the food and everything was a little slow but not enough to be irritating or anything like that. I can't wait to go back!

The garlic dip is worth the 28 minute travel to get there from my house. Fast friendly service. Good amount of food for the price. The deboned grilled chicken was very moist and seasoned well.

  • Dave G.

I was very impressed by this place so I'm glad I gave it a try! They give you free garlic dip with pita chips to start which is a great idea. I wanted the Chef's Salad, and the waiter suggested a half-portion which was not listed on the menu. It was the perfect size for a lunch along with a falafel sandwich. The salad was very unique with fried eggplant chunks, tomatoes, cucumber and onion in olive oil. The falafel had lots of flavor and included pickles, lettuce and tomato. I really miss Heritage Perk, but at least there is a good restaurant in the space instead.

Only one word is needed to describe this Mideastern restaurant, "Outstanding." I am referring to the entire restaurant as a whole. The staff, food, prices and even the other patrons. My family always places a "takeout" order for our Sunday gatherings. Perfection every time! Too bad I live so far away....

One of my favorite things about Metro Detroit is the abundance of great Middle Eastern restaurants. Yummy! Malek Al Kabob is no exception. This is a small restaurant located in a new strip mall. It looks unassuming, but it's not to be missed! The dining room is long and narrow with about a half dozen tables. Based on foot traffic and the frenetic activity in the kitchen, I think a good deal of their business is take out and catering. I had the lentil soup and it was well spiced and delicious. My dining companion had the lamb chili and enjoyed it. We split the grilled boneless chicken platter for lunch. Whoa! What a ton of food! And not just a ton of food, but GREAT food! The chicken was tender and juicy and well spiced and had a great char on it. We had so much of it left over that we ate it for the next two days. My favorite part of the meal was the pita chips and garlic dip. We asked our very friendly waiter how the dip was made, and he spent a good five minutes telling us in great detail how to make it. And then he brought us extra to take home! Overall, it was a delicious, satisfying, generous meal and I highly recommend eating here.

After passing this restaurant by a few times, me and my family decided to check this place out and I am so glad we did. The restaurant is clean and pretty. They have a oven in the wall where they make fresh bread which they offer you with garlic sauce (toom) upon being seated. The customer service is very good and the owner is very friendly. Also, the food is "the bomb!" and they give generous portions. We ordered a combo for two, but it ended up feeding 4. The prices are also reasonable. We paid about $30 for our entire meal. I definitely recommend this place. Also, just FYI, they use halal meat. (just in case you needed to know).

Malek has one of the best deboned chicken dinner around. I always get the "Small" size which is $13 and it comes with 2 huge breast of chicken, big order of rice, huge sized salad, few pita breads and garlic. It easily feeds 2 people. (pic posted) Now onto their other items. Chicken Shawarma sandwich is really good here too. So are their smoothies. Dining inside is little cramped. It has very limited seating. Maybe like 4 or 5 tables. and few of them are 2 people only tables. I usually get a carry out though so it doesn't matter that much to me. When you do dine in, they give you fried pita chips to munch on. It's tasty. Service is good. You can park in the front or back. Entrance both ways too. One of the best place for middle eastern food in Downriver for sure.

I cannot believe this place is so close to my office and I have never noticed it! :). Found this place on Yelp and was craving lentil soup, and had a dinner date with a friend, so we headed here. Only 5 minutes from my office in Taylor. Anyway, was seated right away. Service was perfect throughout. Lentil soup was the perfect consistency, and the hummus and bread were amazing. My friend had a chicken meal and loved it as well. The meal portions were huge too, my friend had enough for an entire second meal the next day. The place is kinda cafeish in style, nothing fancy, and casual attire is fine. It is huge too! And it was pretty busy for the middle of the week. Highly recommend. I am guessing my office will be ordering takeout from here soon.

The new remodel is great. They included an oven to bake pita bread. It comes out as steaming pillows of goodness. The garlic dip they include is mild and delicious. I ordered the shish combo plate. It included lamb and chicken shish kabobs and lamb kafta, ground lamb seasoned with herbs and spices and put on a skewer. The meats came out perfectly charred and juicy. The lamb was cooked medium and tasted like charred butter. Delicious!!! I really enjoyed my meal here and highly recommend it.

My husband and I love this restaurant! Their pita bread and garlic are the best I've had - no one else comes close! Our go-to meal is the whole deboned chicken - more than enough to feed 2 people with leftovers. I prefer getting all white meat, but it's good either way. Salads are green and fresh - dressing is perfect. When we want variety, we also like getting the shish combo, which comes with lamb, chicken, and kafta. We love this place so much that we had our rehearsal dinner here :) Highly recommended!

  • Laura J.

My husband and I had lunch here. He had chicken and tabbouli sandwich, and I had shish kafta sandwich. We both had (huge) bowls of crushed lentil soup. The food was superior and great portions for the price. We also enjoyed the decor. It's a small place, but very nicely put together. On food and decor, I would have given five stars. The service was very poor. Not friendly and the waitress had to be reminded to bring our drinks. We're not picky, but I cut a dollar off of our normal tip, and that's not my style. Even though I gave 3 stars, we'll be going back for the food. Maybe takeout next time.

The food is excellent and the food portions are great. I have been going to Malek for a long time because it is closer to home. I don't have to travel all the way to Dearborn for a taste of Middle Eastern fair. We mostly do carry out because they do real nice job of giving the proper portion sizes even though we are taking it home. They have made mistakes on the order but always willing to correct it with no arguing. The raw kibbie is excellent and very fresh especially for a dish that is raw meat. The fried kibbie sandwhich is just superb and perfectally done. The hummous is always good and the chicken panne is amazing. I could literally talk about all the menu selections and not have a bad thing to say about any of them. If you live in the area and looking for a new take out expierence give Malek a try you'll be happy and full.

This place is very fresh and always busy. This is my favorite middle eastern restaurant. The service is top notch. The lamb is cooked perfect and the hum as and garlic are fantastic. The bread is coming rite out of the oven to your table. The flavors are very on point.

I have only had take out from here but the food was good. I had the Fatoosh salad with grilled chicken and it had a flavorful taste to it. the chicken was grilled just right and the salad was good. the only thing I would say it to ask for light dressing. my salad had a little too much dressing. the second time I went the I asked for light dressing and everything turnout fine. I will be going back to try the chicken Tawook sandwich. I have been coming to this place at least once a month for lunch now for the past year. The service here has been great. After know how to better order my food the experience has been wonderful. You have to come here just to try the home made bread it is a delete to your senses. If you are like me and like your food a little bit spicy ask and you shall receive and it will be a pleasing meal.

Delicious, fresh Arabic food. They accommodated a family dinner for 14 quite easily. The only downside was the noise- their new diningroom is quite loud during the dinner rush.

We just left this restaurant and had a wonderful family dinner!!!! The portions were very generous and the flavors were outstanding! You know its good when you see big huge families eating and enjoying their food and still have leftovers to take home. I have to share a wonderful generous business this was to me. My salad was so big, I was excited I was able to take 1/2 of it home for lunch tomorrow. About 10 minutes away from the restaurant, I realized that I left my to-go bag on the table. We went back to get it hoping they didn't throw it away. Well the manager noticed my husband came back and asked how he could help. My husband was just going to say nothing, but the manager insisted to know why he came back. So my husband told him we left the to go bag on the table. Immediately, the manager spoke to the chef and they made me a whole new order within minutes. I was surprised, overjoyed and appreciated beyond belief!!! Pay forward....I will recommend you restaurant to all of my friends...you have a customer for life!

Great food and service (carry-out). Consistently great food. Whether you order a full dinner or just one of their sandwich wraps, it's always great! Having eaten Middle Eastern food from a whole lot of places, including authentic home cooking from many Middle Eastern descent home cooks, it's the real deal. Highly recommended!

There food here is great!! They provide you with garlic paste and bread upon arrival and you can then order your meal. They are great with customer service and prices are fairly reasonable.

My family came here to celbrate my aunt's 60th surpise birthday party. We are a loud, boisterous Armenian family, and they treated us as if we were their family. I was blown away by their hospitality. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was incredible. They helped to make her day very special. Thank you!!!

Great surprise as we were trying to find a quick place to grab a bite. The naan is great along with the garlic dip. Tabbouleh salad was fantastic. Just right mix of lemon juice. Fattoush chicken salad was flavorful. We'll be back for a meal when we have more time!

Fantastic Middle Eastern cuisine. Heavenly hummus. Wonderful puffy, warm pita bread. Great garlic spread. Wonderful staff. Will be visiting this great restaurant often!

This place is hidden gem! The portions are huge! My friend introduced me to this place this past summer and it's my new favorite Arabic spot. The whole boneless chicken entree is enough for 4 people. The fattoush is always fresh. The hummus and pita chips are yummy. The garlic alone gives this place 5 stars. The service is pretty fast, depends on what you order. Two people can eat a WHOLE lot for $20! This place is worth the trip from anywhere.

Food is always great. Very consistent. Sometimes the service can be lacking but always enjoy the food. The dinners are huge and we usually split one.

Food really reminds me of La-Shish, very good. But like other reviewers have said the place is extremely small. The only gripe I have with the place, is that there is no fresh baked Pita, but I can understand given the size of the place.

If you love middle eastern food, and live downriver, you need to swing by their new location (same strip mall, just on the corner now and a LOT bigger than it was). I've been here many times and keep going back. Carry out available too! I swear they have the best hummus! Service is always good, and if you go home hungry, it's your own fault!

The food is good all fresh made to order but I really with they had the warm bread that they serve at the Hamtramick location but food quality outstanding

The food was great, but there is little seating and it is usually very crowded and loud, as there are also many people standing around in the middle of the place waiting for take-out. Call ahead for take-out, that works fantastic!

I absolutely MUST bring up the average of Malek Al Kabob with my 5 star rating! Here's the deal. I have never dined in at this place but let me tell you, the food offered up here is top notch. I'd go out on a limb and say that this is the best Arabic food in the entire area. The staff is occasionally a bit snippy over the phone when you order but who cares. Once you pick up your order and it swirls its intoxicating scent around you forget all about it and cant wait to get it home. Let me offer you some advice on what you should order. In my opinion this is the best way to have a well rounded experience with their culinary delights. Order the vegetable samosa, and the shish combo with the lamb chili. Ask for a side of garlic sauce. These vegetable samosa are so good it's not even right. They are wrapped in what appears to be fillo dough which is very much different from their Indian counterparts. The shish combo comes with a chicken, lamb and lamb kafta kabob with rice and grilled vegetables with a choice of soup or salad. Their fatoush is incredible and its a tough call but for me I must get the lamb chili. While I cannot speak for dining in, the carry out experience is absolutely sure to keep you coming back. Believe me when I say that any void you may feel because "the decor leaves much to be desired" (per previous review) will be quickly overwhelmed by the sinfully delicious cuisine you will enjoy while here. 5 stars, no doubt.

If only it was bigger!!! My favorite Middle Eastern Restaurant. The food is excellent and high quality, I always get the sauteed lamb, which is wonderful and I always end up taking some home. It can get packed, which can affect the service, but the food is worth it. This is a small place, but if it is packed you can go down to the cafe on the corner of the strip mall, it's owned by the same people and you can get the same menu items from Malek Al Kabob.

Really enjoyed the food here, but had HORRIBLE service from our waitress Maggie, who seemed to spend more time chatting with other tables than serving us. The order we placed for takeaway was also wrong, which we didn't notice until we got home. Definitely would think twice before dining in here again.

We had the Fatoush salad with chicken. It was crisp and fresh. There was more than enough for my husband and I to split. We also ordered the hummus which was divine! The value for your money is very good. This place (although small) is a gem!

Just moved to Detroit, came to this place after being spoiled with Lebanese cuisine in Dearborn, daily, since we've arrived. The place has gracious, attentive wait staff, and a super nice manager. The food is decent, with a few issues to bring up. We ordered the combination for two, and had it as they make it. Upon arrival we were served delicious bread with garlic sauce, which was odd, hummous would have made it a more welcoming experience. The combination came out fairly quickly. The Kabobs, both chicken and meat kabobs were delicious, cooked enough yet ever so tender, and perfectly spiced. The shawirma was delicious, no complaints, meat was tender and tasted fairly good. The houmous was good, creamy, and had a perfect mix of garlic, tahinia, and lemon. What both my husband and I agreed on the positives and negatives about this place. the fact that the rice was bland and had no taste, the kufta was so dry, that you had to literally chase it with water to get it down(not to mention that it tasted horrible), and the kibbe came out hard as a brick -- all contribute to the decrease in stars. The manager did come by and say that next time, we can switch up the things we don't want, for things we liked more, which was nice. Yet, with such harsh competition as Malek al Kabob has in nearby Dearborn, one would think they'd step up their game with the foods that they serve. For someone who isn't familiar with this kind of food, and who eats it once or twice a year, this restaurant would be simply fine, however being of middle eastern decent, and growing up with my mother cooking this very food, throws a lot more scrutiny in reviewing this place.

I stopped here today to grab a quick bite in between Christmas shopping. The waitress took awhile to even notice that I was standing there, so I finally just sat myself. They should have a sign that says "Please seat yourself" if the waitress is not going to be attentive when you walk in. My seat was kind of cramped and uncomfortable, and the decor left much to be desired. I ordered the Lentil Soup, Hummus, and a Chicken Shawarma sandwich. The Lentil Soup was excellent, the Hummus was average, and the sandwich was kind of fatty and not that great. I probably won't come back being that there are so many other great Middle Eastern restaurants in the Dearborn area that I want to try.

I only get a couple things here, just because it is what I like. The boneless chicken Whole is enough for two adults. the Hummus, Shawarma, and Fattoush salads are great! The Fattoush is enough for two adults again. Listen, don't go there to dine in, it does need to be much larger. I grew up in Dearborn and this place is on par or better then the places out there. If you like Middle Eastern food this is the place for you. Price is mid-range.
