I have gone to this location for the past 3 years and their oils are just amazing. I usually buy 10 bottles every time I go, as I only go once a year, though, this year I have ran out of oil faster than expected and I am in serious need of more of their amazing olive oil. I would appreciate is they had online ordering or a website that works. We have an Olive Mill here in IL as well but their website doesn't work either. :( If you plan on going to Saugatuck or Michigan in general this is a little store that you MUST visit and try their delicious olive oils. It's like wine tasting but with oil. :)

If you have ever been to a wine tasting think of that but using vinegar and oil... doesn't sound appetizing until you've been in there and trust me chances are you'll find something like. I stopped here on a trip me and my boyfriend took about 5 years ago. this is the first place I want to go to this weekend. The oil lasted me almost 3 years and only used on holidays. (Yes its that good) the people that work there recommend what balsamic vinegar and oil pair nicely together just as wine and chocolate. please don't pass this up this will make your trip worthwhile. I recommend the honey balsamic with the lemon oil yummy.

Spent $90 in less tag ten minutes! We loved the oils and all the flavors of balsamic vinegars to choose from.

Okay, let's start with a caveat: the prices are a bit high with a small (375 ml) bottle of olive oil starting at about $15 bucks. But, the awesome thing about this small store is that you can taste anything you want before you buy it. So you know you're getting something you are totally crazy about and there's no risk of ending up with oil that's too heavy or too garlicky or whatever. They also have a huge selection of balsamic vinegars which you can taste as well. I recommend starting with the oil and then working your way to the other side of the store since the basalmics can be a tad overwhelming. (I had to ask the lady that works there for a glass of water because after a few tastes I couldn't distinguish one from other). I ended up buying the Tuscan herb olive oil (a fabulous mix of oregano, garlic and basil) as well as the walnut oil which I think will go great with any of the fruitier flavored vinegars for a salad dressing. Other winners were the Porcini Extra Virgin (the salesperson says it is made in Italy by a family that has some secret way of steeping porcini mushrooms in EVOO so no extracts are used) and the Blood Orange EVOO which I imagine would be great on fish or in a salad dressing.

A fun shop with unique offerings. Like that you can sample the flavors in an effort to determine which blend to purchase. The prices are a little steep, but I am sure the oils go a long way. The Black Cherry Balsamic was AMAZEBALLS, as was the Lemon Olive Oil. Would definitely be a good place for gift shopping - a simple gift basket of one of their blends of oils or balsamics, and a lovely dipping bowl or some delicious bread or something like that...

Should you be in the market for oil and/or vinegar, good place to stop. A familiar shop to most of us, but nice diversion from clothes/art galleries. They have a selection of oils to taste-test, as well as (mainly balsamic) vinegars. Only quibble is taste-testing without a palate cleanser (a few pieces of stale baguette, even - throw me a bone, here) would help. I understand they might be overrun with freeloaders in that case, but, hey. After the third vinegar, gets harder to discriminate. Nice staff, knowledgeable, and they are willing to help ship purchases. Worth a deco.

This place is so great! I'm just getting into cooking and have been wanting to experiment with oils and vinegars in salads, etc. This place has all kinds of flavors and you can try them all. The woman working there suggested a couple combinations that were super unique and very good. After spending a few minutes in there my ideas started pouring in! I knew I had to get out of there before I spent way too much (it is a little pricey). I ended up totally wussing out and getting a bottle of organic Greek extra virgin, but I guess I have to start somewhere. Since I've been home though, I can't stop thinking about their pear balsamic. I will definitely be going back!

very interesting store with lots of unusual olive oils and balsamic vinegars. You could taste as many as you wanted. The woman was very friendly. The prices were a bit high, but the quality was great.

It's so nice to see they've maintained their quality and style and unique concept over the years. I found a salad dressing mixer bottle thing that has 8 recipes for salad dressings on the bottle and it shows you up to where you need to fill each ingredient. It's brilliant! And under $7. I wanted an olive oil "jar" (?) but they were like $25. A little crazy if you asked me! They carry "accessories" but for what they charge it's ridiculous because they're really not that nice. I doubt anybody ever buys them. I recommend going a little simpler. I'm not into the tasting but I probably will next time if I remember to bring something to drink.

Really like this shop in the quaint lakeside community of Saugatuck. Over 20 olive and other specialty oils for sampling as well as the same amount of balsamic vinegars. Try the Walnut oil for salads, finishing a dish or even baking! My favorite vinegar is the white peach- delicate but not invisible! Great on salads or in marinades. Amy was very attentive, informative in a down to Earth way and helpful. I really appreciated here ideas!

What a cute shop! Pleasant folks and LOTS to try! They have olive oils and vinegars- all there to sample! Why a 4? Well, the people working behind the counter were sort of generic- not so genuine and sort of bordered on rude. Just my opinion on a day it was raining and there were A LOT of tourists there, all being super chatty!

For you cooks out there, The Olive Mill is a fantastic find in downtown Saugatuck. We were in the store for about 45 minutes tasting olive oils and balsamic vinegars -- my senses just got lost in here! Kurt (the owner) has a large variety of flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars for our tasting pleasure -- complete with accompanying recipes for each flavored oil/vinegar, which make envisioning cooking with these various oils a cinch. (And, I have to add, most of the recipes either didn't have any wheat or dairy in them or could easily be adapted for those of us with allergies -- Bonus!). Kurt was incredibly helpful in talking us through our choices, and we ended up getting a bottle of chili pepper olive oil to use this summer for marinades, grilling, drizzling on salads...just about anything! Definitely stop into this gem of a store, say hi to Kurt, and sample some deliciousness!

I love this place! I go every time I'm there, and if my friends are in the area, they take my order for me. :) One of my favorites is the lemon infused EVOO. I love that they have the taste testers there. Yes, I have tasted/tested them ALL. Definitely a must-go in Saugatuck! The balsamics are great too. You can go with bold, light, fruity or whatever flavor you want. Explore the yumminess!

This place is terrific, and a great place to stock up on olive oils and vinegars - artisinal style products and great flavors. Great gifts for those who love to cook - and those who love to eat! It's fun to go and sample stuff too! You could make a great gift Michigan Lake thebasket by combining stuff from The Olive Mill and the Butler's Pantry...just a thought!

I LOVE the Olive Mill! We go to Saugatuck every summer for a visit, but never knew the Olive Mill was there until this past August! What a great little place!! Both my daughter and her boyfriend bought some oils (white truffle and California olive, respectively) after we went thru and sampled a fair share of the offerings. The quality of the oils here are excellent. After our visit to Saugatuck, we drove to South Haven for some ice cream at Sherman and to watch the sun set.. Low and behold, right on Phoenix was yet another olive oil store - NOT an OLIVE MILL store, but another store that had a similar layout and setup. So, naturally, we had to pop in because by this time, I realized I should have also bought a bottle of white truffle oil for myself from the Olive Mill in Saugatuck. Assuming that both stores were similar, we went inside so I could pick up another bottle.. Within 30 seconds, we realized the OLIVE MILL in Saugatuck had MUCH better oils AND they were loads cheaper than this olive oil store in South Haven. I left empty-handed.. but knew that we were going back to Saugatuck in a month where I could get my bottle of white truffle oil from the Olive Mill. This store in South Haven charges more for their oils AND they use much smaller bottles.. so ounce for ounce, you're paying more. Aside from cost, the South Haven oil store's oils don't taste nearly as good as the Olive Mills.. Fast forward 35 days - Today, I just came back from Saugatuck and a visit to the Olive Mill.. I picked up 3 bottles of olive oil - white truffle, porcini and a beautifully fruity California - from Olive Mill and can't wait to start using them.

I've been done wine tastings, beer tastings, and bourbon tastings, but it wasn't until I wandered into the Olive Mill that I had ever done an olive oil tasting or a vinegar tasting. Wow. Talk about tingling the tastebuds. A wide, wiiiiiiide selection of olive oils, including porcini mushroom, blood orange, and garlic extra virgin. I had to go buy a loaf of fresh bread after visiting this place. The strawberry balsamic vinegar forced me to buy some fresh veggies at the Green Market down the street. Definitely worth stopping by for a taste, if not buying one of the $14 bottles... (although I plan on marinating some tilapia in some vinegar and blood orange olive oil)

The other reviewer have given the jist of the place - urns of flavored oils and vinegars you can taste in little cups. I was amazed at how much flavor was in each one. The jalapeno flavored oil is really hot and the walnut is very meaty. The vinegars are all great - we bought the red currant and the red apple. But the best of all was the chocolate balsamic vinegar. It was delicious, chocolate-y and tangy. I think it would taste great over vanilla ice cream. I think the prices are quite reasonable for the quality and the uniqueness of the product. Definitely worth a visit if you are shopping in Saugatuck.

A great way to expand your horizons in the world of olive oil and balsamic vinegars! I absolutely was inspired to cook something new and had to buy a few bottles. I only wish they would provide bread or something to dip into the oils/vinegars - it's a tad much to keep putting various oils straight into your mouth :)

This summer was my first visit to The Olive Mill, but it wasn't my first olive oil from the store! My parents had been to Saugatauk twice before and brought me back a bottle both times. This time, I went outside the box and got the Tuscan Herb oil.....it's amazing! Great for dipping bread and delicious in recipes! The store employees were knowledgeable and very friendly! I will definitely be back or will order online and have it shipped!!

Just tried this place out back in December. I had read about it here on Yelp and despite repeated Saugatuck trips had never been here yet. The basic principle of being able to sample the oils and balsamics is just a wonderful one. Each oil or vinegar has a huge vessel much like a banquet-style coffee pot. There are tiny plastic cups provided to put your tsample in to taste. I simply put a few drops into the cup and dipped my finger in to taste. (The prosepct of DRINKING oil was off-putting!!!!) We sampled a few different olive oil and nut oil varietiesm, and settled on a walnut oil. The balsamics are some of the tastiest I have ever had - my personal favorite was the pomegranite balsamic, just devine. The ONLY downside is the bottles are slightly pricey (we paid 14 for the walnut oil), but considering the ability to sample, and the helpfulness and knowledge from the staff, it was well worth it.

We had a sample bottle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar from Geneva. Seeing Olive Mill in Saugatuck was a treasure find. Sample olive oil at its finest, accented with varying notes: lemon, blood orange, tuscan and classic spanish. If you are adventurous try olive jalapeño. I could not resist but try the Balsamic vinegar as well. If you want the classic Mediterranean flavors get tuscan olive oil.

This store was great. The employees were friendly and informative. We tried lots of olive oil and came home with the Spanish Arbequina and have been using it for lots of things, including dipping bread in it. It's delicious!
