When I'm back home in Saginaw, Michigan, another tradition is Wednesday Night at Sullivan's with my, brother from another Mother, Saginaw attorney, Pete Hauffe. Wednesday's Fish night. Love it! Great salad bar. Ask for Brenda, tell her you want your fish dinner, JIMMY HOLLYWOOD STYLE. I promise you'll thank me!

Food was good, very good. But, it ends there. The service was horrible and very disinterested in serving our needs. If you are a business person there on as lunch break, this is not the place for you. Great menu that has many selections and something for everyone. The service however is lacking and unfriendly.

The food is fantastic! Still has the charm of the old Sullivan's with awesome new food also! The owner is fabulous! If you go once you will be a regular! Also has an excellent salad bar and their soups are great! Perfect place to plan a bridal shower. Had mine there and the food and service was excellent! Got great reviews from family!

I've been eating at Sullivan's since I was a child in grade school and my youngest has just graduated from college. Even though Sullivan's moved many years ago from the original location on Genesse in Saginaw to Gratiot Road, the quality of food and great service has not changed. The Fish & Chips are legendary for a reason and the salad bar which they didn't have on Genesse Street make the meal even better. We made a Noon reservation for Mother's Day and even though it was extremely busy we were seated on time and our food was prepared perfectly. The owner came to our table and asked us how our food was then went to other groups of people to chat a little with them.

As a Saginaw native, I can tell you my Fellow Yelpers are correct. When I was growing up in the 70's and 80's, Sullivans had a number of restaurants around town, including a little take-out joint on Bay road. My mother worked at Sullivans for a while when I was little, too. It is a Sagainw institution, with only the existing location left for a number of years now. The look and feel has been the same for decades, along with the friendly service and good food. If you visit Saginaw, it's worth a visit to experience a Saginaw tradition! And yes, order the fish & chips and enjoy the traditional midwestern salad bar :)

I agree with Ronald v. The quality of the food was surprising. I didn't have high expectations when I walked in but I was happily proven wrong. I will go back next time I am in town.

Apparently they are known for their fish and chips so we tried it. Great batter - crispy and yummy. Dinner comes with a warm whole wheat roll. The place seems to be a favorite of the AARP crowd :) The host (Manager?) was very friendly and fawned over all of the "regulars".

I've been here twice and in both cases with a large family group for a birthday party. I'd have to say that I've never been disappointed in the food. The salad bar has a lot of variety and their food is of good quality. From what I hear this place is famous for their fish and chips and while it's not bad, I couldn't find anything special about it. I get the impression that this place has some important historic value and name recognition in Saginaw, based on the average age of the few customers I saw. One thing is for sure...this restaurant doesn't win on aesthetics. It has an old feel to it. Old and outdated. But maybe that's what they're going for. Never change a winning formula?

I went to Sullivan's growing up and it was one of my grandmother's (who lived in the area) favorites. It was good. In 2004, I moved to Saginaw and I went back. The place hadn't changed in appearance, but the food was terrible, decor was tacky, and the service was blah. It was 2 star food at 5 star prices. Boo! After hearing they had new owners, I returned in 2011. The decor was slightly better, food was slightly better (but not good- obviously defrosted garbage fish), but the service was terrible, prices were still a joke for what it was, and tackiness continued. They are trying to improve (owner was remarkably friendly), but this is a "only if desperate" restaurant in Saginaw still at this point.

We hosted a birthday party for 27 people at Sullivan's. What a great restaurant. New owner, Fred has carried on the great tradition of the Sullivan family with wonderful food and great service. They put the birthday girl's name up in lights on the marquee, which was a great touch. We preordered 4 selections-the famous fish & chips, a turkey dinner, a whitefish dinner with a piece of fish so big it was practically hanging over the plate, and a lemon chicken selection. The salad bar was fully loaded with fresh items. The fish and chips is just as yummy as everyone touts. Crispy and hot with a nice sized portion. Dinner comes with these awesome wheat rolls that you really could make a meal out of, they are that good. The turkey dinner looked better than Thanksgiving, with turkey and stuffing piled high and mashed potatoes aplenty. Try the whitefish. I had it and my mouth is still salivating!! The portion was so huge, I had it for lunch the next day! The wait staff is awesome. Andrea and Alice treated us just like family and Fred so attentive and helpful. This is why we have loved Sullivan's for many many years and we will continue to visit. Bring your family and your kids. They won't be disappointed!!
