All I can say is wow I cannot believe that this place is still open but then again this is saginaw and the people of this city lack true taste for authentic food but I did give this place a chance firstly the whole staff including the owners are very very rude and lack any knowledge with customer service. I went up to cashier not even did she say hi but "what can I get for you" ordered 2 chicken tacos and two ground beef tacos and a ground beef nacho tried the chicken tacos not bad but not great ground beef was absolutely disgusting to swallow after trying the ground beef I did not even want to try the nachos but i did again absolutely disgusting. All i can compare it to is dog food. The chile was watery and tasteless so horrible!!! If you have some knowledge about what good Mexican food is then do to even waste your time or money here!!! I have been all around the world and have had bad food but this is beyond what bad is!!

Excellent food! Good fast service and fairly priced. Great tacos, both hard and soft and a great price. The Taco salad is great as well. Probably my favorite Mexican food in Saginaw

I did not expect to find some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in Saginaw, MI. I enjoyed 3 delicious beef tacos for $6. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Do it!

Wow - best Mexican I've eaten in Saginaw! Perfectly sized tamales come fresh and hot wrapped in corn husk with a side of excellent spicy salsa. Rice and beans are great but nothing special, disappointed that whole beans aren't an option. Guacamole, salsa, and other sides go well with the housemade tortilla chips. This place is takeout only and cash only but worth the inconvenience since the prices can't be beat!

This place is legit. Hot sauce is excellent, tortillas are fresh & tamales are great too! Welcome surprise for this out-of-towner!

Best Mexican food in the tri cities area. Great prices, huge portions, nice family run take out. The tamales and enchiladas are our favorites. We always make a point to go there when we are in the area.

I love Mexican takeout and Rico's is a great example of it: homemade everything, quick (like, super-quick. So quick it's in the bag before I'm done fishing for change), and cheap. Wow, is it cheap. Please do yourself a favor: drive past Taco Bell and every other fast-food chain on Tittabawassee and Bay roads and get yourself a 99 cent taco, or four, or a dollar forty-nine bean tostada, or a homemade tamale, which you will not be seeing at any fast food chain anytime soon. The fresh crispy corn tortillas are the star of the show here. They sell bags of them at the counter, along with some other goodies, for your at-home Mexican cooking needs. A little rant: I want to compliment this place for not jumping on the new faux "authentic" Mexican bandwagon, which everyone seems to think requires loading everything with cilantro and raw onion and calling it a day. Food that is freshly prepared and seasoned well - be it americanized, tex-mex, or otherwise transformed - trumps "authentic" unless "authentic" is actually done well. So, at Rico's your tacos come with lettuce, cheese (yellow little shreds strewn on top, gasp!), tomato, and homemade hot sauce, and it satisfies this Midwestern girl's taco craving just fine. The only down-side is no seating and it's cash only.

WOW! Great food!!! Try the shreded beef burritos. The chips and salsa are super. This place is take out only, but the food is fantastic! You can buy chips and fried taco shells here if you are making your own. This is a jewel to the tri-county area!

You don't expect much going past the place, but it's definitely one of the better Mexican places in Saginaw. It's not on par with Mexican places on the West Coast, but for what it has, it's decent. I do wish they would offer more burrito options, etc.

Did I die and go to heaven or am I at Rico's? This hard-to-please picky eater has never been happier with Mexican food! I keep my face down, fork to mouth, and start shoveling in the goods. The pricing is amazing for the amount of food you get, too! Large serving sizes almost guarantee you'll have a nosh for later in the evening. You know those fake hands on the end of a stick used with animal shelter dogs to see if they're well-mannered when it's meal time? Yeah, I'd bite the hand if it approached me while eating Rico's.

Awful! This is not real Mexican. CASH ONLY!!! 2013! Get with it Rico's. there burrito was just a regular taco. Nothing special about this place. I feel sorry for the people who think this is good.

Read the reviews, got curious. Talked to people that suggested this place, heard it was great food for a great price. Walked in to a small no frills pick up area with a packed room of customers and bustling area behind the counter with employees working hard. I got nervous that I couldn't decide what I wanted fast enough , but when I got to the front, the employee was patient and helpful. $14 fed three people and we are stuffed. Food was delicious and FRESH. Simple fresh flavorful ingredients created a filling meal. I definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal on a budget.

Nachos are your best bet here, and the accompanying salsa is superb. Always a friendly place. They do tend to have long lines though, I wish they'd hire more people.

It's American Mexican food, ok but nothing special. It lacks that authentic Mexican spice and flavor. Not the worst, not the best somewhere along the line of average. Kudos to them for cornering the market.

Stopped by last week to grab some tacos dinners as my office has a taco tuesday lunch day once a month. Most times one of the minons just run to the 'border' but this week I was up and wanted something different and local (no chain). Great fresh tacos! Only downside is it is take away only and for me they close at 7pm. That is about the time that I usually leave the office.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
