High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. My first time at this location. I took my granddaughter after school. The wait staff was very friendly. The food was served hot.

Crap food. I try to avoid chain restaurants because food served at these establishments is overly processed. A work related lunch forced me to eat lunch at the Roseville, MI Applebee's. The food is like plastic prepared by a bunch of underpaid employees who could give a crap about the food. Save your money and visit a local joint that serves fresh food.

Well, decided to return and give them another chance annnnd failure. We started with the hot I mean cold artichoke dip, dish was hot but dip was not. For my entree I ordered the 9 oz sirloin with grilled shrimp mushrooms and onions w/ steak medium rare. Steak was med well and that's being a optimist about it. They took it back and 2nd time was much better, but it shouldn't have to have gone back in the first place. Our server Nicole was very good though although embarrassed by the food.

Happy hour is from 3-6pm, 3 dollar beer, wine, call liquor and some apps. This is the only time i can see myself coming here, because after looking at the menus the prices have been jacked way up! $15 for a steak that used to be $11 not so long ago. Still have the 2 for 20 though.

This was a constant hangout for us for quite sometime, when we would always get the chili cheese nachos, substituting chipotle chicken for the nasty chili. Was a huge favorite. But now all they have is a crappy brisket nacho that's half the size and not available at half off after 9 (or 10 on weekend). And they refused to let us substitute the chicken for the brisket without charging $4 above the already outrageous $10 for the nacho. Bad move by corporate!

Service was great and food delicious . Always a good meal here at this location. No wait after 8 pm.

Currently at the restaurant. Waited at least 10 minutes after ordering them to get our drinks. Our appetizer beat our drinks to the table. Also my girlfriends salad came with so much brown lettuce that she had to send it back. She also asked for extra tarter and lemon with her fish and chips and literally received 1 lemon wedge. Guess we won't be coming back anytime soon.

I went here on a Monday kinda busy... Took them 15 minutes to seat us & the hostess (male) said he got us all set up! He takes us to a booth that was dirty actually FILTHY!!! Looks like kids just sat there & the tables still had food on it. So we moved to the bar... Instead of Waitting for our table we should of sat at the Barr!! We order our food it was good but then we order a dessert & the manager brings it out with NO SPOONS!! A manager really!! I will never go back there EVER again!!

Like many other eating establishments in the area and around North America - Free vet meals today. When I arrived, the parking lot was nearly full. Once inside the front door, it looked like it was going to be a while before I was seated - they were taking names at the hostess station. And on days like this, I feel bad taking up a whole table all by myself, when it could easily serve to seat 2 or 4 or more. I just about turned around and left. I started to give the hostess my name and told her I was alone. She asked if I would like to sit at the 'Mess Table'. Hmmm .... sounds kinda military to me - sure, I'll take it. I had the pleasure of sitting at a table surrounded by my friends. Of course, I'd never met them before, but there we were, all sharing stories and a meal together. We had a wounded and disabled vet with us, in a wheelchair and he was accommodated with a seat at the end of the table, right next to the ramp. Another man had served in the Army Air Corps, another gal was former Army, a couple sailors, a couple soldiers, and one Air Force vet - we all sat at the same table - the Mess Table. Applebees offered 5 different meals and I selected the 7 oz. steak dinner. It was cooked to perfection, with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley to round out the plate. I believe my server's name was Debbie M. I hope it was, because she did a great job taking care of our table. I was sure to leave her a good tip. Well, I had my fill of food and I decided it was time for me to leave, opening up a seat for the next guy or gal who wished to dine with other vets. On my way out the door, a refrigerated trailer was just completing a delivery to the restaurant. I'm sure they were taking in a fresh load of steaks to get them through the afternoon. Thanx Applebees for supporting those of us who served - and thanx for seating me at the Mess Table - a real nice touch on this Veteran's Day. Your generosity will not be forgotten.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! If you decide out of poor judgement to go to this horrible excuse for a restaurant then do not be surprised when you walk out kicking yourself for making a terrible choice. This is a typical Applebee's establishment but with an awful customer service twist. Just go down the street to Red Robin and save yourself the trouble.

Worst service, food. Don't ever go here. Unless you like over priced, Luke warm food, $5 bottle beer, lousy attitudes from the servers, and dirty tables... Any thing has to be better than this.... If this is your last option, stop and get a sandwich from a gas station.

Second time visit in some years. I sat at the bar. The service was attentive, and I received a drink right away. I had a taste for a steak, so I ordered a 9oz sirloin with mashed potato and mixed veggies. The order was served in a reasonable time. The steak was do to my specifications, but the flavor was mediocre to say the least. I used steak sauce on it which I hardly ever do. I will likely return again, but eat something other than steak. I had a good burger meal at Applebee's previously.

The sear in burgers are absolutely delicious! I had a previously bad experience but it has since once again become my favorite restaurant!

Went there Tuesday night. Fairly busy. Waitstaff was extremely slow and took a while to get our first drink order in. I had the all american burger and my wife ordered the avocado and strawberry salad. Burger came with bun, burger, cheese. No lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no pickles, no mayonaise. So I waited for our server to come back over to finally bring the toppings. Then realized I didn't have any mustard either, but decided to just eat anyways b/c I knew it would take forever to get it and I was starving by that time anyways. My wife's salad was almost all lettuce with 3 slices of avocado and 3 strawberries. Needless to say we won't be going back anytime soon. I just don't know why restaurants do not put out the ketchup, mustard, and mayonaise on the table anymore. And I have to ask for toppings on my burger???

Had terrible food. Order the trio, steak towers had no steak in them? Wonton tacos did not have much on them. On the bright side of things, had decent service and the manager checked in with us twice while I was there. I'm giving the one star for the food.

Omg don't eat there if you're diabetic. You could go into a diabetic shock waiting on them to take your order. Wait staff extremely slow. Do they realize this is what patrons base the tip they leave on? Secondly how come when I present the phone coupon for pub breadsticks, a reward for checking in, same waitstaff says uh..you gotta print those before you come here......you can't access coupon until check in first...duh...poor manager didn't seem too familiar either but she said okay whooo way too much work just to get dinner

Our waiter was very nice & had a great smile. Restaurant is messy with French fries and straw papers on the floors. Hope the apps we order are better. The appetizer platter was excellent. Very good service.

This review is focused on servers and the manager of this place: Took 5 minutes to get recognized and seated. No one watching front door. All in back near kitchen, talking. Maybe 7 diners in the place. Our Server: SLOW, not paying attention, had to wave her down twice to get service during the meal. Took 15 minutes to get a simple, pre made dessert... even after we told her we had to go to an appointment....still slow, clueless. We got refund for dessert and left. That was also SLOW...Manager's fault. So ridiculous. Server at table next to us "hung out" talking loud to the older couple about meaningless stuff. Assumed they were hard of hearing I guess. Couldn't hear ourselves talking to each other. Manager: LOUD talking to older couple at table next to us as well (we told him about it and he apologized) spent most of his time in back and sometimes wandered around room, but never saw the poor service happening around him. again, just clueless. Food was OK, but small portions. We won't go back there so sure...YOU SHOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't really complain. This is probably the nicest Applebee's I've been to yet. Either renovated or new, it's clean!

  • Meghan B.

Ugh just like every other Applebee's...over priced, shitty, & barely enough food on the plate to feed a bird! I paid $11 for a fiesta salad that was the total size of 1 1/2 cups of food, barely. I asked the waitress if it was a half order & she said no. I laughed! The 2 others I was with ordered the 550 calories or less food, it was small amounts of food and the spinach looked like an elephant sat on it before they served it. Like I said: I won't be going back to any poor excuse of a food chain restaurant like Applebee's anytime soon. The ONLY good thing about Applebee's is the 1/2 off appetizers Sun-Wed....their apps are delicious :)

We were sat next to a screaming kid--the kid continued to scream for well over half an hour. Management did nothing. After a half an hour, the manager came up to the table with the child, and asked if the food would calm the kid down. The mom said she was planning on leaving but didn't. The kid was still screaming. We left half way through our meal because it was so bad. I asked the manager if he could ask the mom to take the kid outside, and he said "it's not my call." I'm sorry, YOU are the manager. It's your call. We were not comped for our meal. I think every restaurant should have protocol for this sort of situation. Oh and I am 8 months pregnant. I just wanted a last meal out before I delivered. Parents: take your kids outside if your children are going nuts. What a freaking joke. **I called Applebees and the Manager is refunding us. I am bumping the review from one star to two stars for at least reimbursing us.**

I wish I could give 1 star. I went there today and ordered the 4 cheese mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken. It costs $11.49. First it shows up with hardly any sauce, it was basically just noodles with chicken on top. My server (Nancy) brought me more cheese sauce on the side when I asked but I had to wait 10 minutes for this little cup of cheese sauce. By time it arrived my chicken was room temperature and not hot anymore. Also, the chicken had hardly any honey glaze on it too. I informed her and she said, "That is how it is tossed in the bowl". Really? Are you serious? Here is what really upsets me. My dish never came with bacon. I just went to there web site and confirmed it should have. In fact it says, "Loaded with apple wood bacon". So, I was served a chinsy noodle dish with hardly any cheese sauce, ended up eating room temp chicken and I never received bacon on my dish. I have only been to this Applebees once (today) but that was bad enough to make me go to Chili's or Red Robbins next time. I feel so ripped off for $11.49!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Came to your establishment for our daughter's 16th birthday with family, a total of 8. The server was attentive and kept checking on our appetizer order took 45 minutes for our appetizers but he was checking often to see what the hold up was. Thank you for making our daughter's birthday special for her.

I went here the other night. The only good thing about this place are their appetizers. Everyone knows that the spinach dip is good. I had some of the Three Cheese Chicken Penne, and that shit was soggy. I don't want any soggy noodles in my life. And there was no chicken in it really, they just kinda peppered it in. And if I were to go somewhere to eat, it's not just going to be for appetizers when their drinks are 10 bucks and weaker than a an elderly person with swine flu. I want a place with good food and cheap drinks. This is not it. GTFO here Applebees

As per usual another terrible Applebee's experience. How does this chain stay afloat in this day and age? I was hopeful since it appeared they updated their menu but nope, major let down. Against my better judgment I came for lunch with my co-worker, I let her pick since she's pregnant. The only decent thing about this experience was our server, I wish I remembered her name because she was very friendly and probably should work somewhere else. We both ordered lunch combos. I had the oriental salad and tortilla soup. I ordered my salad with no almonds because I have a nut allergy. When my salad arrived it had nuts so I sent it back in order to avoid death. Server was very cool about this and apologized for the error assuring me she rang it in correctly. A few minuets later my new salad/soup arrive. Pretty sure the soup was not a fresh one because it was luke warm. Maybe the cook was mad I sent my salad back because I was presented with a salad of mostly wilted lettuce hidden under a bed of those crunchy Asian sticks ( I can't recall their name). So I end up picking about half my lettuce off and sipping some cold soup. In general I'm not a fan of chain restaurants because they are inconsistent and often use frozen ingredients instead of fresh. But when your dining with others and in Roseville your options are limited....next time it's Panera! But Applebee's in general has been a let down. One time I found a piece of glass on my plate and another time a worm in my salad. So Applebee's has yet to redeem themselves in my book. You're better off going to a fast food joint.

Went yesterday to Applebee's for an early dinner with my daughter. Had a very sweet waitress (I think she was new) Ashley. I don't know what happened with our order but they brought only my dinner minus the veggies and the potatoes were a little cold. The manager (I think someone said his name was Aaron) came and made it right and took a little off the bill. I was VERY impressed! He was very nice and cared about the customer. Kudos to the manager and Ashley too!

Ordered onion rings and oriental chicken salad curbside bill was $18.42 + $5 tip Onion rings $7.49 called and lady said 10 onion rings are included, I only got 8..$1 a piece..AWESOME..not..even with 10 that is ridiculous for onion rings.. Salad $9.89..was the size on a McDonald's salad..so small had maybe 5 small pieces of chicken, size of maybe a half chicken breast..barely any salad..mainly wontons and cabbage..awesome. $25 for food worth maybe $12-15..and I'm still hungry..ugh Never again. So sick of these chain establishments ripping everyone off..

  • Gary L.

Let's start with service...one water, one Rum and Coke. Turns out she delivered two waters , one with a faint hint of rum and coke. Our Entree came minus silverware! She came back, minus silverware! My Salmon was great, my wife's salad not so much. Had a better salad at National Coney Island at half the price. Waitress wore a filthy uniform as did all other waitresses. Being a Saturday night we should of been tipped off with parking lot near empty. Problems begin with poor management and trickles down from there. Fire the manager, fire the bartender, clean house, and just maybe this place may survive one more year!

Food was okay, but all of my stars are for their service. By far the friendliest we have encountered in quite some time. From the hostess to our amazing waitress Deidra I truly can't say enough how great they were. Of course I do love the blondie brownie, which is why we come.

Hi Jasmine, thank you for responding so quickly. We came in just before the last maywethetr fight. We were just highly disappointed. We are both bartenders and also serve. My husband's and also my management would never act iv such a rude uncaring way. Like I said we'll never return. I'm sorry

How does a restaurant manage to make everything taste like hotdogs? And it isn't just at this rat hole, it's at all the Applebee's I've ever been to...wait, make that "been dragged to", because it's always some clueless family member who wants to eat there because "they have a big menu and serve drinks." Really, well, that's not what I'd call a huge selling point! So we knew it was going to suck, but of course the family wanted to eat there because of the "variety" and the "drinks'. Rather than fill up we decided to try to eat light so that we could go to a real restaurant to eat afterwards. We chose the "Thai Shrimp Salad". The order came as requested. The shrimp tasted like hotdogs and the lettuce tasted like hotdogs--that's without even putting on any of the dressing, which was supposed to be a quasi peanut sauce, but it tasted like thousand island dressing with a hint of soy sauce! Yuck!! The prices they charge for this crap is unconscionable. Anyone not willing to explore real restaurants who patronize places like this should be euthanized! Maybe next time I get dragged here I should just order a few Long Island iced teas and grope the wait staff...

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
