The menu of this place was way overpriced. I ordered french onion soup and specifically asked the waitress if its good. She said its the best she has ever had. It was served in a white bowl, the one slice of Swiss was floating in the middle of the salty onion soup. It appears they microwaved the soup in order to melt the cheese. It was not put under the broil as french onion soup should. Problem 2 was right before the pizza showed up. We were brought a silver tray for the pizza and there was a piece of cheese dangling on the steel tray. Our Pizza was finally brought. It was at most OK. Next time I will spend my money someplace else. This place needs Gordon Ramsey to come in and straighten a few things out before I ever go there again.

First off it's bland pizza. Second the prices and location suck! AVOID

My parents have this annoying habit where they like to drop me off like three hours before my plane home leave. Three hours! Three hours in Metro Airport? Blarghles. Anyway, I have slowly been getting them to, come on, don't leave their house until two hours before the flight. But now that we've discovered Leonardo's, being early is not a problem! I love their gnocchi, parents love the ravioli and their prices. Nice wait staff. Great red sauce. Delicious all around. We'll be coming here for lunch or dinner next time I fly to Detroit again. Oh, and did I mention the prices? So very reasonable. Come here!

OK, so my business partner is off snow boarding with clients in Park City and I get to go to lovely Taylor, MI to check out some potential warehouse space...but i digress... Despite the frigid temperatures outside and somewhat bleak surroundings, I find myself heading back to the hotel last night in need of some good eats. I recalled Leonardo's from a visit this summer. Went there for a quick cocktail with a business associate. It seemed, at the time, like a nice homey kinda place. Certainly better than the "managers reception" at the Embassy Suites (not to knock free food and booze..but alas, another review) So in we drive, myself and a new hire out training from Santa Barbara. Lots of cars in the parking lot...good sign! Busy inside, but room at the bar with two nice sized flat screens to watch. We sit at the bar and a lovely woman who's name escapes me now, asked if we were drinking or eating or both. She had a warm motherly vibe going on, sorta made one feel at ease, so I will call her Mom. Orders up a couple Hef's and some calamari whilst we reviewed the menu. Lost to choose from, but with some input from Mom we settled on Chicken Parm for my young apprentice and Eggplant parm (can tell the wife i had veggies for dinner!) for me. Then the questions...and in a good way! Would you like soup or salad with that, its included? Oh, what type of soup? Italian chicken and sumthin..(forget) or Pasta Fazzol? Pasta Fazool!...good choice said Mom. Pasta, Fries or Veggies?..its included. Pasta please! Spaghetti, linguini, fettucini, Angel Hair? Oh...um Angel hair. Marinara, Meat Sauce, Creamy marinara, Alfredo or Olive Oil and Garlic? Oh..Olive Oil and garlic please. and away she went. Meantime, we are munching on our calamari which was outstanding! Came with roasted red peppers and a great mix of marinara/cocktail sauce...yummo. Well, then comes the Pasta Fazool! Huge bowl, and it was awesome!! Just like Mamma would have made (if my mom had been an awesome italian cook..which she wasn't) The eggplant, awesome, the pasta, awesome. Overall a great place, friendly service. You could tell it was full of regulars. Owner came by and was chatting, making sure all was good. If you find yourself stuck near the Airport in Detroit, not that I wish that on anyone, but at least this could ease the pain. Oh, and the cost? Including beers, appies, huge dinner and tip..$75 for two starving men.

    Good veal parm. Nice place.

I flew in to visit my dad and he took me to this place because it was close to the airport. It was a great family restaurant with super friendly service and delicious (and huge portions of) food. We ordered the bread sticks as an app and my dad asked for the meat sauce instead of the regular pizza sauce. When they came they were warm, soft and covered in fresh parm cheese - absolutely delicious... and with the meat sauce it was basically another meal. Dad got the Osso Bucco which he raved about, and I got the Chicken Artichoke in Marsala wine sauce which was also great. We both had leftovers and left stuffed and satiated. I would definitely go back there.

3rd time here. Pizza was excellent! Bruschetta was excellent as well. Side salad was not very special for $4. Just a bunch of not too fresh lettuce and a few extra greens with a few cherry tomatoes. What we didn't like was the unbelievable record slow service and the food taking over an hour to come out. It was 20 minutes before a waitress even brought us menus. Also, this was the loudest restaurant we ever ate at. Could not talk as we could not scream loud enough.

Leonardo's is close to my family's business so we come here for lunch quite often. It's a nice atmosphere that is good for a business lunch or conference, family dinner or a first date. The food is excellent. They have a fried artichoke appetizer that is to die for, and their eggplant parmesan is my favorite dish. They give you 2 thick eggplant patties and a huge helping of pasta, so lunch the next day is quite likely. The prices are also very reasonable for the amount of food you get. However, it's not a "quantity over quality" place. My Dad loves the build your own pasta deal where you can choose the pasta, sauce, meat, cheese, everything. Good stuff.

I don't know what happened! We ordered Leonardo's last night, and it was terrible! There was some kind of weird spice all over my bacon pizza. I ordered Ranch with my breadsticks, and got a PIPING HOT packet of Marzetti's dressing in the box. EW!! I have to lower their stars just for that. I have never been disappointed while dining in, so I'm hoping this was just an off night in the carry-out kitchen.

I think that the food is generally a tad overpriced, but the lunch specials are very reasonable... $6 for a mini pizza w/2 toppings, salad and a drink, or $6 for Soup, Salad and a drink. I think the lttle pizzas are delicious and the atmosphere is excellent when you consider the area it's in (airport/industrial).

We had the opportunity to dine here while visiting the Dearborn/Ann Arbor area recently. We were there on a Saturday evening with 6 and didn't have to wait too long. Our goal was Pizza, so I can't speak to the other dishes. But we loved the place. We have 4 kids and the staff was more than welcoming. We got a special treat as they normally serve sliced bread with their meals, but they were out so we got the treat of their breadsticks which were just great! The only problem was we ate too many! We had two pizzas and an Antipasto salad. All the food was just terrific. The service was also just fantastic. The Manager (?) seemed very nice and helpful and our waitress was just terrific. We really didn't have to ask or wait for anything. She was just spot on. Anyway, great place, great food, great service. I was more than happy to leave a generous tip.

My best friend took me to Leonardos before dropping me off for a flight. He hadnt been there in years, but had fond memories. We both had soup, his minestrone and mine the Italian wedding soup. Was it because it was a Monday but the soups were a watery bland mess of soggy pasta. No flavor, his minestrone was so watered down that the bread soaked up orange instead of red broth. My italian weddings soup was no where near what I love at Pennas in Shelby Twp. At Pennas you actually taste the chicken broth. We were so glad we didnt order a meal but left with only the bread and butter to sustain us. I would not return dispite the other good reviews. There are too many other great restaurants in Metro Detroit.

  • Nicki S.

Just ok. I had the house salad with chicken and avocado. Chicken tasted like it was cooked in the morning and reheated with a strange aftertaste. Avocado was brown. Artichoke fritter appetizer was good. Husband had chicken pasta. Chicken tasted the same as my salad and the mushrooms were canned. I would pick another place, but this is where the hotel shuttle would take us and I was only in a night.

Nice "local" atmosphere. Ordered the "Cowboy" steak...came out nice and hot. Soup was good too.

Food is amazing, best blackened tuna I have ever eaten. Environment was horrible, only reason it's not five stars. We sat in the bar and a table of eighth graders were set behind us and were so obnoxious we had to leave. Absolutely worth stopping and risking the circus though- really, really good food.

I visit Leonardo's every couple months. The food is fresh and include some very authentic Italian food. I've tried the soup, caprese salad, pizza, seafood pasta and dessert! I've had a couple times where the service was so so but worth the wait for the food.

    (4)
  • Marc W.

The pizza was good, and I'd order again. We had a thin crust that had a firm/compact bread consistency - they may offer other varieties. The customer service taking the order was a bit harsh because we were ordering delivery to a hotel.

3.5 Actually I was extremely impressed with our waitress' encyclopedic knowledge of single malt scotch. My questions on the topic are generally met with a slack jaw and a thousand yard stare. Our gal knew more about it than I do.The service was excellent in every way. The food is another story. I mean, if I could graph my opinion of the food, it would look like a sine wave. Set aside the question of quality because everything was fresh and of high quality. My issues have more to do with the choice of ingredients and presentation. Take the bruschetta for instance. It quite literally consisted of a thick dough pizza crust atop which set the usual bruschetta ingredients. It was really doughy. It was also drenched with garlic infused olive oil, which exacerbated the problem for me. Some might like it that way. I didn't. The calamari spent a few minutes more than it should have in the deep fryer. It was too crunchy for my liking. Entree wise, I went with the New York Strip with a side of spaghetti. The steak was overcooked and a little tough, but it was very tasty, so I was OK with it. The spaghetti, on the other hand, was very good; cooked al dente with a nicy zesty meat sauce. And I'm not sure if it is made on site or purchased from a supplier (I would guess the latter), but the Key Lime Pie is awesome and beautifully presented. I was seated near the restrooms, and that is always a big problem for me, but we were in a large group, so I'll cut the place some slack. The ambience is generally pretty nice. Not fancy, but nice.

Good food, more than enough size, fast and attentive service. Will visit again if come back to Detroit.

This place was surprisingly good. I have traveled to the area for the past year for business, but never ate here. On a recommendation I went and I was impressed! The lasagna was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it. My colleagues ate the pecan crusted chicken and they said it was the best they've ever had. If you are staying near the airport, skip the room service and head to Leonardo's. The bread they brought at the beginning was a little nonplus, but other than that, it was a fantastic restaurant. I'll be sure to go to again and again.

    (4)
  • Karen M.

This was pretty good food. It is definitely a good choice if you are hungry and near the airport, because the portions are huge. They let us substitute an item for extra veggies and the veggie pizza was pretty good. Lucky for us we could pack up the leftovers and give to a cousin who lives in the area, since the rest of us were going to the Westin at the airport and leaving out the next morning.

  • Jamie H.

Delicious food, a little on the pricey side, although they do have pretty good pizza deals. If you're in the mood for pizza gotta try their BLT pizza- it's fabulous

First time diner here last evening. Overall, food was good. The bruchetta (sp?) was to die for and I make a pretty good one, if I say so myself! I would agree that the wine selection is a bit lacking, but found a nice Rodney Strong for a reasonable price. All of our selections were different. All were tasty and certainly one dinner is enough for two! Will go back again!

  • Valerie V.

Delicious and reasonably priced pasta dinners. Comes with salad and bread. You can eat here inexpensively if you go for the pasta. I had the minestrone soup instead of the salad. Left with a full tummy. My husband, a hearty eater could not finish the Eggplant Parmesan.

We ate here while staying in Romulus - waiting for our flight back home. We had an excellent server - helpful and attentive. There were nice soft short breadsticks. Entrees come with salad or soup. My husband had the tilapia, and it was nicely done (we prefer tasting the food - not having things covered w/sauces, etc.) There was a choice of fresh mixed vegetables, broccoli, or asparagus additional charge. The mixed vegetables were excellent. I had Leonardo chef salad - with gorgonzola, smoked turkey, avocado, and bacon and hard boiled egg. I was very disappointed - as the turkey was a processed meat thinly sliced - not diced turkey breast as I would expect in a Cobb salad. (I would have never ordered it had I know it was not a true turkey breast - but would be processed meat.) They were very generous with the gorgonzola cheese - several huge chunks along with lots of crumbled. A honey poppyseed dressing was served along with the salad; it was quite strong with some taste - that I didn't care for. I should have asked for a different dressing. Also, it was very cold in restaurant. We would come again - and I know I would choose a different menu item.

Good portions but airport prices. Bread and salads were standard, the clam chowder soup was runny, not creamy enough. The wine list is sufficient with moderate prices. Chicken Marsala: this was....interesting. The sauce was a bit overwhelming and not so much a subtle compliment but, the main statement. Meat Ravioli: about a dozen come on the plate, with the marinara sauce it kind of just tasted like pizza, nothing special. Along with a bit of runniness from the ravioli...from what I am assuming is the freezer burn melted.

  • MaryAnn C.

The food is good- but based off of word of mouth and the other reviews, we were expecting more. The mussels were over cooked and we were craving the best fish of the house, so we splurged. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce tasted like it came from a jar and the seafood in the dish was over cooked as well. The mistake could have been ours though because having fresh and preparing seafood in a landlocked State is a bit of a challenge. In the end, the price did not equal the quality (over- priced) The staff were fantastic though- everyone was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was well lit and nicely decorated. Surprisingly, even with the location nearby the airport, the place was full with large families getting together and enjoying themselves. All in all - the visit wasn't bad, it just wasn't great either.

Delivery food and service were petty good! Ordered the caprese salad and Leonardo's deluxe pizza. Both were fresh and delivered under the estimated time. Only downside was plasticware was not provided.

I try to stop by here to eat each time I come to the Detroit area. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The Fettuccine Alfredo is excellent as is the pasta faggioli. I had the salmon which was very good. The sauce in small doses added nicely to the flavor of the salmon. The service was adequate. The atmosphere pleasant. I will be back.

When you want some real authentic Italian food this is the place. The soup is even awesome. My favorite is the meatball calzone !Dine in is good but,the carry out is too.:-) They also deliver

Overall just an awful experience. Extremely loud music even though we werent even seated near the bar. Service was slow and the food was below average at best. Over priced and couldn't even enjoy anything we ordered. If you enjoy a loud enviornment, over priced food, below average service at best and rude owners. This is your place. Honestly a trip to taco bell would have been more satisfying.

Probably the best pizza I have EVER had! I got the Leonardo's pie style pizza... AMAZING!!! Service was fast and extremely personable:) I ordered delivery from my hotel room.. They were there before the allotted time. Highly recommend!

I will begin by stating my feelings towards this place.... OBSESSED. My family and I have been eating at Leo's for the greater part of 10 years now and EVERY time we come back to the area (we've since moved away), Leo's is a stop. Not just a stop but a highly anticipated family reunion type of stop. During the week, this is a travelers paradise. As a road warrior myself, I wish I could find a Leo's in every town I visit. On the weekends, Leo's is very much a neighborhood watering hole. I could rant on and on but realistically... no one would read the whole thing. My list of favorites: - Breadsticks with i) alfredo ii) ranch and marinara MIXED - Bruschetta - Chicken Marsala (get the pasta mixed in with the marsala sauce) - ASK FOR CREAMY MARINARA on any pasta - Ceaser Salads - Sangria in the summer - Patio in the summer - PAMA Martini - Italian Wedding Soup - Chicken Alfredo with black olives (the Hubs fav) - Cheese and black olive pizza The kicker... I worked as a server and bartender at Leo's for 5 years while going to school in Ann Arbor and I still return with great enthusiasm each time we are back in town.

Good food. Good service. Was a little on the expensive side and the place seemed kinda run down and not the cleanest.

First of all I have to admit that I love the wait staff. Always seem to be having a great day, even when they are very busy. I have eaten here a few times now when I'm in town and have found the food to be consistent. Not the best I've had, but for Romulus it's quite good. Not all standard Italian restaurant fare. Have some interesting alternatives like ahi tuna, etc. Tonight I had pork osso buco which was not in a tomato base but a light brown gravy base served with risotto. Nice flavor but, again, not typical Italian restaurant fare. I don't see that as a bad thing. I don't want meat sauce and marinara every time I'm in an Italian place.

  • Chris J.

This is great italian food - and their seafood dishes are awesome! Some of the things we tried: - muscle appetizer was great (garlic butter version) - chicken tetrazzini was very good - seafood fettuccine also very good Friends tried a couple other dishes and they really enjoyed theirs too. My only criticism. They placed us in a room with a team and their parents. It was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves think. I think that is poor service on the staff's part - at the very least we should have been asked if that was ok. (I would have said no - and waited for another table)

  • Jeff S.

In town for work and was told to check out Leonardo's. I had the chicken parm and it was served piping hot with good flavor. The salad was fresh and the hot bread sticks excellent. Not the best I've ever had, but very good and would go back.

  • Jennifer W.

It's hard to believe I'm getting a pizza place five stars. I came here for lunch and ordered one of their specials. A chicken sandwich with red peppers and cheese. Sounded simple but it was so flavorful and delicious. The bread was made in house and you could tell.

    (5)
  • Kimberly M.

Service was good. The breadsticks were very tasty! The chicken I ordered was very dry, salty, and overcooked. Still, it was only $10 for my main entree, which came with a side salad and bread. Not a bad deal when you compare it to options at the nearby airport (which is where I was heading).

Simply amazing. Had an excellent experience and the food was unmatchable in the area. Will definitely visit again next time I'm on this side of Detroit!

Always outstanding and a great local establishment. Proposed to my wife here almost 15 years ago. Owners and staff are top notch.

The location suggests this is a spot simply for travelers but it feels and is a neighborhood Italian bar & restaurant. When I ordered my martini I didn't have to ask for blue cheese olives, they suggested it! The soup was very good and the spicy shrimp and sausage was wonderful. I'll be back next time I'm in Detroit.

    (4)
  • Mike M.

I had the seafood pizza and it was excellent! A 4.5 for sure. The Alfredo sauce was smooth and there was plenty of seafood on the pizza. I would order this pizza again and again. My table service was good. I wish I was in town longer to try one of their pasta dishes but it would be hard to pass on not ordering that pizza again!!!

Been a long time fan. When we lived closer we'd get delivery often--like once a week. Pizza is the bomb the best crust I've ever eaten. Every pasta I've had has been lick the bowl fabulous. For my birthday I got a steak and it was wonderful. Delivery is quick and nice. Staff has always been attentive and excellent. By far my favorite for Italian food. Glad we moved, but wish we could have taken Leo's with us.

solid food at a solid local establishment here is what we got: table breadsticks: great glass of gnarly head wine-good local michigan brew-excellent caprese salad-great lasagna-good mediterranean pizza-great cannoli-ok, def NOT the best i have had service-great ambiance-a bit chilly while sitting at our booth, but place was very clean price-was ok for what we got. i took the pizza for next left overs parking-ample, but we were dropped off by our hotel shuttle. overall, well worth the visit and i would recommend to anyone in the area.

If you're like me, and stuck in a hotel near the airport, using Yelp to find something decent to eat nearby (trust me, there isn't much!), this place is absolutely worth a try. My co-worker and I split a pizza, so I can't comment on anything else, but the pizza was very good. (The other menu items on tables near ours certainly looked tasty). They brought us hot, fresh bread while we waited, which was also good. Service was prompt and refreshingly friendly (the "friendly" is not at all common at restaurants in the Detroit area, but I guess we Southerners just tend to treat folks differently). Atmosphere was nice, not dumpy like a few other restaurants we've tried around here. I guess my only minor quibble would be no wifi. It is, after all, 2014. Other than that, no complaints. I'd go back, if I was ever in the area on business again (please God no! LOL!)

  • Mike H.

First time here. Most of the menu seemed a little pricey. $20-25 for things like veal parmigiana or a crusted walleye dinner. I had a small pizza though, and it was very solid: the works for just under $13. Well worth the price... 6 small pieces, or a very large plates' worth. (You can get one with fewer toppings for just over 10 bucks). Local IPA for $5.50, so can't complain. Might try something else from the menu next time, but the prices scared me off. Server was attentive in the bar seating area. Decent alternative to the various hotel restaurants in the area.

I was there last night while doing an overnight in Detroit with my fiancé. The atmosphere was really nice they had a small lounge band playing and it reminded me of Tuscany. The food came out quick and was good. I ordered the Pollo Simplici which was good overall. For the price I was expecting more. It came with a side salad and I had a small side of Fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken had a lot of excess oil but the flavor was very good and I like the bruschetta on top. It gave a great contrast to the spices on the chicken. My fiancé ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which had a great homemade sauce but was overpowered by the amount of garlic. Which surprised me as I love garlic and it was strong for me. There was also a very salty aftertaste which I attributed to the cheese. If they toned down the garlic or at least sautéed it before adding it to the sauce so that it didn't burn when you buy into it they would have an instant winner. I'll definitely give it another shot on a future trip to Detroit.

Wanted a quick meal before flight. Total time from being seated to paying for bill was about 30 mins. The Greek salad I had was really good, the dressing was ok, glad they put it on side. Had a supreme small pizza. It was good. Service was great and very fast. Overall worth the stop.

Went there for the first time and I was truly impressed. The place was busy which I was surprised since it was a week day and a little before noon. I got a sandwich that was on special and it was great. Co-workers got pizza and it looked delish! Service was great was in and out in less than an hour. I will definitely be going back.

We found Leonardo's on Yelp! and agree with the good reviews it gets. The food is fresh, flavorful and authentic -- good-sized portions but without the heaviness that you sometimes get in Italian restaurants. The bruschetta is wonderful soft bread with really fresh tomato, garlic and olive oil, we had calzones and pizzas (vegetarian and not, regular and sicilian style) and everything was excellent. Our server was Mary, and she's been with this business for many years -- we can tell why, it's a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We also got to meet Vito (one of the brothers who own Leonardo's), who told us about the history, family recipes, and he even brought us several very tasty handmade arancinis to try, when we mentioned that we'd missed them on the menu. It was a nice experience that left us all feeling great about the evening.

Worth every penny! We started with the calamari. It was so tender, cooked perfectly. The pasta fagoli was the soup of the day...delicious. For the main course we ordered stuffed shells and chicken with artichoke...mouth watering! We will be driving 35 miles to eat their again.

Without a doubt one of the best pizza's I've ever had, and I eat a lot of pizza.. Visited Leonardo's for takeout on December 31st while staying in Romulus for the evening. Went with the Leonardo's special and bruschetta bread. I have no idea what their secret is but I couldn't get enough of this crust. In fact weeks later we are still talking about Leonardo's and if I didn't live 5 hours away I'm sure I would be a regular.

Took 2 hours to get a pizza. I hope it is worth the wait. They ended up giving us a free pizza. Very good pizza. I think they forgot our order because the pizza was very fresh.

I have been going to Leonardo's for years. This Italian restaurant is definitely on the pricey side for the area, but well worth it. I usually order their ravioli with a Caesar salad. I have also had their lasagna (at times it has too much cheese) and their Alfredo variations. This place is known for its pizza, but ironically I have never had it. I have always had a good experience with their service. The wait staff is fast and efficient while always having a smile on their face. The atmosphere could use a bit of a face lift. It can seem dark and old at times. I know people my age could be turned off about how dingy and old it can look. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

  • Allie A.

Great waitress, Krystal. I got a draft beer and a small BLT pizza, which was still more than I could eat. Total bill was $15, which I think was well worth it. The pizza was delicious and the bar was busy but not too loud to hold conversation. I would definitely go again next time I'm in Romulus, MI.

Impressed by the quality and flavor. Fresh vegetables. I had chicken Marsala, which had plump mushrooms and a rich but not heavy sauce. Clearly the people in the kitchen know what they are doing. Very friendly service and reasonable prices. Even with the taxi fare from the airport, this meal was a good value.

I LOVE this place. I live in CA but always eat here when I am in town. The pizza is my favorite, but everything I've ordered is fantastic. The breadsticks come with grated cheese to put on top. The service is top notch. I just overheard a diner ask if he could modify his meal and the waitress responded "we can basically do anything." That is great customer service! Friendly atmosphere, my drink has never reached the bottom before a refill, and the price is right. I came during the dinner rush one night, my meal took a little longer than usual but they checked in on my several times with updates and refills.

First off, the service was impeccable. We even had a waitress training a waitress and it was absolutely great! The menus true Italian and we settled on the pizza. Although we were not sure about the Sicilian it was very good. I will say this place has the best bruschetta I have ever had. If you go here do not pass up the chance to get there bruschetta. Top-notch experience!

This is a go to restaurant for me when I'm in town and want something to eat near the hotel. The veal is always good and the atmosphere is lively. They also deliver to the hotels near by.

Staying at a hotel before a flight and I wanted more than fast food. Checked yelp and found this gem. Great prompt service and good food and fare prices. Try it u won't regret it

Staying nearby waiting for my flight out of Detroit and based upon the reviews here decided to try the place. As an east-coast Italian I am VERY suspicious of Italian-fare in Michigan... but I was VERY pleasantly surprised: great wine selection and EXCELLENT food. The pasta fagioli soup was EXCELLENT as was the sausage plate and the "cheese bread." Service was attentive, but not overbearing. It's a bit pricey-- but well worth it for the quality of food. My only complaint is that the place was VERY cold. I know it's cold outside right now-- but I kept my coat on the entire time and was still freezing.

Very nice restaurant near our hotel where we were staying awaiting an early morning flight. The food was good, with HUGE portions. I had the walleye which came with soup, a baked potato and TO DIE FOR bread. My husband had the lasagna which came with soup and the wonderful bread. The walleye was OK. The lasagna was amazing. We had the soup of the day which was lentil mushroom. That and bread would have been Plenty of food, but it was good. The service was prompt, not especially friendly but certainly not rude, and our server was attentive.

I've been here twice now, both on the way home to the Detroit area from Ann Arbor. It is a perfect stop for a wonderful dinner. I'm generally not a fan of Italian food, but the food and drinks here are amazing. I have sat both in the bar area, and the dining room, and both have great atmospheres. The service is always great, everyone is so nice. They make surprisingly good margaritas. Great apps and entrees.

Maybe it's just me. I don't find prices in the mid to high teens for basic pasta dishes cheap, any main beyond classic type pasta is right around the 20 buck mark or more (except chicken which is all about 18 bucks, yikes). Yes they are big portions but I would rather have a smaller portion for less money. The food is tasty-ish but if I am spending like this I am going to go to Moro's, Cafe Cortina, Bacco or Giovanni's personally. The food I had was good. Seriously, it was. My husband's choices sucked. The service was nice. Nothing here overly impressed me though. The stuffed shells were very decent, however, the sauce was not making me do cartwheels as it seemed a bit like jarred to my palate. The salad I had was good and fresh and it actually made me happy. My husband's sirloin, on the other hand, was very overpriced. It was also cooked a bit over, not really seasoned and a bit tough to boot. He was not a happy camper. At all. He is not one to bitch though, he just won't go back. I would try it again, but for pizza and salad only. The people near us got a pizza that looked and smelled really great. They were overheard going on about how much they were enjoying it. We were jealous. The rest of the food? Not worth the going rate in my opinion, at least based on what we sampled.

The Italian sub (called something else) wasn't what I was expecting. Lots of bread that took away from the experience. The pizzas are great. The supersize pizzas are also good but the crust is rather thick (more bread) and in my opinion they are a bit light on the sauce and cheese when applying toppings.

While staying at the hotels nearby, the pizza was the perfect price to avoid paying for high hotel food costs. Took 45 minutes to get here for delivery which I feel is pretty average. Good job! Nothin fancy, just good pizza

I've been here twice, the first time I came for a birthday party but didn't eat any of the free food because just before that I was at a baseball game and ate a lot there. But all the food looked absolutely delicious. So few months later I decided to come back for dinner. It was a disaster. First of all the waitress was awful. I asked her a couple questions about how certain things were prepared and she had no clue. I ordered their lasagna and it was basically tasteless. Basically everything at this restaurant looks nice but it's got no substance whatsoever.

After a long week at work stayed near the airport to catch an early flight home. Nice surprise to find good service, good wine and good food near the hotel. Thank you Kristine!

Great atmosphere had live music which was superb, food was great, friendly bartenders. I had the seafood alfredo it was a portion big enough for two and tasted great. Would strongly recommend if you are staying in a hotel near.

Had the 'authentic' carbonera, it was drowned in cream sauce and bland. Greek salad was good. Everything a bit pricey. Excellent service though .

I enjoyed this place. Went with the family. My wife and mother both enjoyed their pasta dishes. I had the Veal Parmigian (a big favorite for me) and it was excellent. The Veal was traditional (not the Meijer frozen patty type). To me -that is a trademark of a good restaurant. My mom's friend got a small pizza and was very pleased as well. On a separate occasion - I went and ordered a pizza from here. I actually drove out and picked it up. This was for me and my dad. We get a supreme extra-large (we must have been hungry that night) - of course shared it back at home with the wife and kids. The pizza was very good. Had that nice traditional taste to it. The prices in my opinion were fair. Italian tends to be a little more expensive at time for pasta's and things. Just seems the dishes are always $10 or $12 a plate. I don't recall anything being out of the norm or shocking. The pizza was a normal price rate as well for the large supreme we had. I recommend and it is nice to have more than one Italian eatery to frequent locally.

Great meal - Try the potato chip crusted walleye. Keep it Italian with the caprese and a side of spaghetti. I'll definitely return when in Detroit.

Needed a casual place to have dinner with eldest daughter, talkstoofastformetounderstandbecauseshedoesnotpausespeakingtobreath, and her new BF. He does pause to breath. I'm not sure they got through their first conversation. Oh well. Where to start? Ah, the parking lot. Let's say it seems like they cobbled a bunch of easements into an open storage facility. If I drove a nicer car I would park across the street and walk over. Perhaps I was on the bad side of the lot. Walking in I was immediately . . . neutral to the decor-standard old school Italian (dark, wood, lots of red). If I were Italian I wound say it reminded me of my grandmother's house. Snark aside, it was comfortable. The host and server were friendly and helpful. We were seated within the time frame the host gave us. Water and carbs arrived quickly. THe menu was easy to understand. Food: pizza. LOTS OF PIZZA. Quick enough. Cheesy (good cheese by the way). Lots of fresh tasting toppings. Then the let down: the sauce and dough were ok. Just ok. After overlooking a few dough bubbles (ok, I'm not over them yet obviously) and the chewy texture, I was still shocked by the ok sauce. Maybe it's just me. This place is highly regarded by many people, so I will return. Ciao (or is that chow?)!

Pizza and breadsticks were delish! We ordered carry out, which was ready quickly and was piping hot when we got there. We would definitely order pizza here again. One reviewer suggested getting meat sauce for breadsticks, but the meat sauce was disappointing. Maybe regular marinara would have been better. Very enjoyable overall!

Horrible experience. I called and ordered stuffed shells. First, she asked for the phone number and address, which I'm at a hotel so they completely disregarded when I told them my personal phone number. When giving them the address I went through the entire address, including the city, and my room number. The woman I spoke with even repeated the phone number back to me on two separate occasions to confirm. I was told my meal came with a salad and so I asked for shredded cheese only. She kept saying that they could not do feta cheese on my salad after I continued to say SHREDDED. I think she was newer because she read all of this information back to me and I could hear another person in the background confirming it with her as she went.... I was told my order would arrive in 30-40 minutes. After waiting an hour and a half I call them back, not understanding the long wait for STUFFED SHELLS. The man that answered said he was the driver and insisted he knocked on my door over an hour ago and even went to the front desk and had them call my room stating I was the one who did not answer. I asked to speak with a manager. She confirmed my room number and my order, but when I read off the phone number and location of the hotel she said "oh we would not have taken that order because that is outside of our delivery area"..... No one bothered to call my cell phone number that I had given them and tell me they could not find me.... All I can say is thank god I was paying cash.

I happened upon this restaurant by chance while waiting to pick someone up from their flight - after my flight. It's a family owned restaurant that does make you feel like your in an establishment owned by people that care. Not a chain by a long shot. Live music, good food, nice service. Enjoyable experience and I would certainly go back if I am in the area again.

Leonardo's has a great antipasti salad and the pastas/specials we have tried do not disappoint from the Lasagna to the Spaghetti with meat sauce. They have a varied cliental as its close proximity to Metro Airport would indicate. We have always enjoyed good service. We usually have our antipasti salad and try the specials on the chalk board or try an old standby. I'm going with 3 stars as its OK, but we have a lot of Italian Restaurant competition in Metro Detroit and I'm not a real big fan of Airport area businesses

What sucks about the West Coast is the weak Italian food. Leonardo's is a causal strip mall Italian place with incredibly good Italian food at very reasonable prices. The veal selections are as good as the best high dollar Italian joints. Baked shells ... mmmmmmm. Pizza - damn good. One down side is the wine selection is very limited and not great for whats available.

Nice meal, friendly service. Had the stuffed shells, which were hot out of the oven and very tasty. We asked to sit outside since the weather was nice, but had to put up with smokers and mosquitos (once sun went down). I recommend forgoing the outside patio and eating inside. Good, authentic Italian dishes.

After searching multiple days for a place to eat near the airport we found this place for dinner and lunch. What a pleasant surprise! In the evening we sat in the bar area at a high top. Our waiter was young but had obviously been trained well. He reviewed the menu with us including some of his favorites and brought our drinks and food expeditiously. We had the calamari with the roasted red peppers and it was wonderful. My first thought is that the moisture from the red peppers would make the batter on the squid mushy but it all just worked so well together. Great call if you love squid. I then moved on to the pizza and it was great. The crust was just right and the sauce was very well done. I had a grey goose martini up and was happy to see a nice pour right up tot he rim in a big martini glass. Prices were good for the food quality and this place beats out any of the others in the area.

I was sent to Leonardo's by my office to host a meet-and-greet with various conference attendees. Unfortunately, only one participant showed up, but he liked Italian food so off to Leonardo's we headed. It's a relatively nice place on an un-lovely section of Merriman Road near the airport. We were seated in the bar, as that was the only thing available -- which was surprising for a rainy Tuesday night after the rush. Other than being a bit noisy, it was way more comfortable than bar seating usually is, with generously sized 2-top booths. Service was prompt and attentive. We started with a salad and a soup. My salad was quite large with fresh and varied greens, not the standard boring iceberg. My dining companion really enjoyed his cream of potato soup. The entrees were not much to look at, but the taste was great. I got the gamberi penne arribiata, which was a generous portion of pasta and shrimp. The sauce was a creamy arribiata, which was a nice change and still had the zest and kick it should have, being a spicy sauce. The chicken marsala that my friend ordered was just not much to look at, with the side of spaghetti incorporated into the dish and then seemingly dumped onto the plate with little care for presentation. But he indicated it was very good and his clean plate was evidence of that. It was an all-around solid experience, and I was grateful for that, as this was a business-oriented dinner. It's important to make a good impression on our guest, and Leonardo's did not disappoint.

This was an extremely underwhelming experience. We had the lasagna and scallop alfredo. The lasagna ($15) was literally half or more cheese, which ruined and completely imbalanced the dish. I basically ate a block of subpar cheese for my meal. The scallop alfredo was mediocre. Also, on our final bill the alfredo sauce was an additional $2 on top of $20 for 4 scallops and bare linguini. Our waitress failed to mention that this would be extra when she asked what kind of sauce we wanted. I could easily make better pasta at home. I will not be back.

Food okay. I would not place high on list of Italian eateries that I've been...I'm also from northern NJ which has excellent Italian...so there is a bias and tougher reference point. Food was not cheap...$16 for pasta dish. Salad was simple iceberg. Shining spot was excellent bruschetta. But...if I had to some up this restaurant I would simply have to say..."the cannoli was dipped in peanuts." Really?

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
