I grew up in Rochester, and now live downtown. My husband and I love places that are unique and off the beaten path. We went to Crazy Greek looking for this, but only found a dirty, outdated motif, sub par food only minimized by the strong smell of air fresheners and fruit flies buzzing around. We were there for dinner, and maybe this place is great for breakfast but based on what we saw, I just don't get the high reviews.

Regardless of what you order, you will not walk away hungry!! From the Krazy Greek hashbrowns, to a traditional greek salad with grapeleaves to the Krazy Greek sandwich, this is ultimately my favorite Rochester resturant!! Great service, great food & awesome staff make you feel right at home!

Cheap good food. The atmosphere is very old style. People are nice.

Fantastic breakfast. .. A family owned establishment that has been here for over 30 years. All hogh quality ingredients, cooked fresh. If you leave here hungry, then tpu just didn't eat. This is a gem in downtown Rochester. .

I don't know if Kate has ever been a server b4 but she needs to learn some customer service skills! Very rude! Snobby and aggressive! We love the food here but will be asking for a different server next time! And it looks like she's not getting good feedback from other customers as well another comment posted a week ago "server needs an attitude adjustment" wonder who that could be? Aside from that we have always loved the place we have been coming for over 3 years not and love the food!

Came in on 4-6-14 in the mood to try a gyro, however the server Danelle said "You MUST" try the chef special chicken kabobs" I said...I came in for Gyros..and on the way home my wife will razz me for taking the advice of a server yet again.. Danelle responded...I do not normally push food, but we always have gyros , this is a rare great dish SOLD! So per her recommendation I ordered it, it was a gigantic skewer , probably 5-6 large -tender -moist- slightly charred hunks of chicken & several peppers /onion slices and included oven roasted potatoes ,perfectly cooked rice/with tomato sauce & a whol lot of green beans $12 It was fantastic...reminded me of the Kabobs from the Olympia in Greektown in the 1980's Not usually a fan of the rice/sauce mixture BUT this was Very Good! The oven roasted potatoes tasted like they simmered in grandmas oven overnight... just a note, the green beans were nothing special..and a tad overcooked/soggy but no star deduction for sure The bride who has been on a lemon rice journey of late, loved it here & also ordered a egg salad croissant. Which they made up fresh, not from a container in the back & look at the pictures it was quite large & yummy. The place is super friendly...quite cozy & we see it being a GO TO spot to try much more... Danelle was charming & knew the menu forwards & backwards & one of the chefs stopped by to welcome us & inquire about our visit..she was surprised it was our first time.. Now on to the gyro , greek salad & rice pudding down the road..

Best Breakfast in town bar none! You feel like family in this hidden gem in Downtown Rochester which is walking distance to my office which always helps. Don't let the outdated fecade fool you - they're just simply keepin' it real at Krazy Greek. If you're looking for an amazing omelette amongst down home people at a great price where your coffee cup never gets empty - you've found it here at Krazy Greek.

What a blast from the past! It's like stepping back into time (circa 1960s or so...) And what a great reminder of how much better a family-owned business can be over the typical faceless franchise operation. We especially enjoyed the spinach pie, and asparagus & swiss cheese omelette on our last visit. The upside-down christmas tree hanging from the ceiling, festooned with 4th of July decorations, was a bonus!

I normally look beyond the watered down coffee, which is a staple to most breakfast places, though today was something I couldn't stand. I ordered poached eggs with my breakfast... you know, the ones cooked in water, hard whites, soft runny yellow inside? Yea those are the ones. Anyways, I received what was more akin to a medium boiled egg. The white was cooked wonderfully, the yellow about 70% cooked with the middle being a thick gelatinous mixture that was anything but runny. No worries I'll ask them to remake the eggs, explaining they were cooked too long, NO. BIG. DEAL. Though apparently it was. The female cook came to me very defensive of what I asked for, saying she provided it. I explained how I was expecting the runny yellow that I'm used to from making it myself, or any other restaurant. Hell, Ram's Horn does an amazing poached egg. Either way, she argued with me that I need to specify I need it runny, put me down saying I was wrong in my assumption and that I didn't order correctly. I just couldn't do it anymore. I was done, asked for the check and left, all the while hearing the woman from the kitchen talk about how "they asked for poached eggs I gave them poached eggs, they are crazy and don't know what they want" in a raised voice. Just be aware of what you're getting into when coming to this place. Sure brings back memories, though no longer for my family, this was just an insane way to treat a customer over an egg that was cooked 45 seconds too long.

Tried this place on a whim while visiting the Rochester area. Highly recommend it. We had the Crazy Greek Surprise (gyro meat, ham, lettuce, tomato, onion, Swiss and American cheeses, and tzatziki sauce between two pitas) and it was delicious. Two of them was plenty of food and we ended up splitting them among 3 people.

I LOVE the KRAZY GREEK restaurant in downtown Rochester. My favorite is their Greek Salad. I think it's the best around.

I really want to love this place, and I really want to be able to give it 5 stars. In the middle of a downtown area filled with pretty crappy restaurants, this little gem sits on a sidestreet, looking cute as ever. I love the atmosphere inside, and the staff has always been friendly, but the food is seriously lacking something. I've ordered plenty of items here and the only one I'd come back for is the greek salad. Probably one of the best salads I've ever had in my life (I've included a picture so you can see how they pack it with fresh, tasty ingredients!) The last time i went, I ordered a Gyro with fries, and my Dad ordered the Souvlaki. Since the fries seemed kind of expensive, we decided to split them. That was a bad idea. There were barely enough fries for one person. Our sandwiches were tiny and flat - not packed with meat like how they should be. It was disappointing.

A local dive favorite. The Lemon Rice soup is very good. Greek Salad is tasty. Daily Specials. Friendly and efficient staff. The family argues occasionally in the back and the decor is old and rather run down...... But we love this place. ( except for smelling like a deep fryer when I leave. )

I've been giving out a lot of high ratings lately mainly because I'm using Yelp! to hit places that people love. It sure beats making excuses to your date about the food. I like the name of this place. It's small inside but not claustrophobic. Older nicely broken in diner that felt pretty cozy. A lot of the people inside seemed to be locals as the servers knew most of the customers and they seemed very happy to be there. I ordered the Gyro. On one of the talk threads it was recommended here. The tzatziki sauce was delicious and garlicky. Loved it! I was even dipping the great tasting crispy fries in it. It looks like the gyro meat was not shaved off a rotisserie but it wasn't bad and it had good flavor. The pita bread was grilled gently and had a slight crisped edge that gave the gyro an awesome texture. The food is between 4 & 5 but what solidifies the 5 star rating is the absolutely great service. Not annoying, just pleasant and trying to please. Other dishes I saw people digging into looked great and the coffee was decent. I don't know about krazy but I sure walked out happy!

I've only dined here once but that was enough to make sure I didn't come back. I ordered eggs and bacon. Simple right? I bit into my bacon and felt hair in my mouth. I inspected the rest of my bacon only to find it was covered in tiny white fuzz. I let my server know and she got angry with me, she yelled at me, and told me it wasn't hair on my bacon it was lint from a clean dish rag. I don't care what it was, I didn't want to eat lint either. She left the fuzzy bacon on my plate and brought another plate of bacon, slamming it on the table. The new bacon was also covered in lint. YUCK!

I'm biased. I'm a regular. My wife and I have breakfast here every weekend. And we recognize that most of the other customers are regulars as well. That's a testament to the friendly, hard-working folks who serve us. Prices are low, quantities are generous, every meal I've had there has been tasty and well prepared, and the service is great (even when they're full, and a bit hectic). And if you like things a particular way, tell them. My wife likes her English muffin lightly toasted. She doesn't even have to ask (like I said, we're now regulars); they remember, and it always comes out the way she likes it. The decor is kitschy and worn. Look past it.

This is a little Greek restaurant tucked behind Knapp's donuts that is Rochester's best kept secret. Theresa is right; the gyros are exceptional. In fact, it was here that I first tried a gyro, and it's tough competition finding other restaurants that make gyros as well. The tzatziki is great, the meat is cooked well and seasoned well... who can argue? The only constructive criticism I have of KG is the size limitation; if you've ever been to Lipuma's, you know that during lunch hours there's a line out the door. KG doesn't get that busy, but it's close. And what's more, it's about the same size inside as Lipuma's (give or take a both or two) and without outdoor seating! Granted, you could always take it with you and walk around downtown or find a bench somewhere. It beats a Starbucks lunch, at least!

Anytime I head back to Rochester, I always go to the Krazy Greek for breakfast. I have to admit, I have never been there for anything else but breakfast! Their omelets, pancakes, etc. are delicious and huge. You will NOT go hungry! This place is somehwere you could roll in, in your PJ's and no one would care. Definitely a lil gem hidden behind Knapp's Donuts. The place is little, so you might have to wait for a seat. OH! You will also see sports stars from Detroit in there (Tayshaun Prince from the Detroit Pistons is one that frequents in there) Enjoy!

The classic: coffee mugs on the table when you sit down. Turn it over and voila, hot fresh coffee is yours. I love it. I had a veggie omelet with asparagus, mushrooms, and cheese. It was phenomenal. Service and decor was exactly what you want. This is a great little diner.

Oh wow. I am surprised no one has yelped this place yet! Krazy Greek is a unique little diner located on the corner of Rochester Rd. and University. It is easy to miss because it is such a small shack of a place amongst the fashionable brick shops. To get in, you have to go through an archaic revolving door. -so much character! This little gem has all sorts of pictures, articles tacked up on the walls. Makes for a homey feel. Krazy Greek is known for their enormous omelets! I ordered an asparagus cheese omelet with hash browns. Oh man, it was delicious! The egg was light and fluffy and the cheese was so melty! I could only finish half. I normally wouldn't reheat leftover omelets, but this one was so good, I had to take it home for later. They also have fabulous gyros.. The cucumber sauce is made fresh and is probably the tastiest gyro sauce I've ever had. Yeah. Kudos to Krazy Greek! I absolutely love this place...

I tried this Krazy Greek years ago and I distinctly remember being in utter disbelief that it was voted best Greek in Rochester. After reading the reviews I thought that maybe I had caught them on an off day. After eating there again, I will agree that they have a great gyro and tzatziki but a sub-par Greek salad. The pepperoncini and cucumbers were mush and the dressing was so very bland. I can't see myself returning for anything other than a Gyro fix.

Really ? I don't see what the appeal is for this place. Food and atmosphere are ordinary, or less. Many better options available.

Krazy Greek is a Rochester GEM!!! My son and I LOVE Krazy Greek. We're there just about every weekend for breakfast. The omelets are HUGE and delicious. If you're REALLY hungry try the mexican omelet. Wow! And you HAVE to try the Krazy Greek hashbrowns!!! Delicious! Good hot coffee. And the kids will love the specialty pancakes, especially the chocolate chip ones. My son's motto is "come starving... leave stuffed". Krazy Greek is a downtown Rochester landmark. The sliding door is a classic. Nothing fancy here. Just your good ole' fashioned hometown diner with lots of character and great memories. You might even spot a Detroit Piston eating here now and then!!! And the employees are the nicest you'll ever find. You'll definitely feel right at home at Krazy Greek!!! I know I do. I'm Krazy for Krazy Greek!!!
