Was not at all as good as I thought it would be based on the reviews. I ordered the 1/2 lb chicken breast, but in all actuality ended up with a 4oz (and that's being generous) chewy mess. Last time I ever pay $12 for something like that :( I do have to say that other people at my table got burgers/fries and those did look good.

Decent food, & if its a nice night the patio is awesome! I love the Cajun sausage wrap but their thin crust white pizza & jambalaya are also outstanding. Service can be slow, especially inside.

First, disregard old reviews, because this place changed hands a few months ago. The new owners are making some nice improvements, with more underway. Our service was very prompt and friendly, and all the staff were professional in appearance (during past visits when it was Duke's, this was not always the case). I tried the pulled pork sandwich, with a side of house-cut sweet potato fries. Nice soft bun, tasty pulled pork with a tomato-based sauce, and a generous serving of fries. I also tried my friend's jambalaya, which was traditional and delicious - just could have used a bit more rice or less broth. The food came out quickly and was piping hot - even the fries - which is important! The building is a bit run down, but that's part of the charm. It's clean and doesn't detract from the dining experience. I'm looking forward to dining on their river(s)front patio when the weather gets a bit warmer - it looks like they are putting in an outdoor fireplace, which should be a nice addition.

Short jog from the highway. Better than fast food, but not exactly fast. We showed up a little before the lunch rush and it was a little longer than expected for two sandwiches. The server admitted the kitchen forgot to start my jambalaya so that made it even longer. I had a cup of their homemade gumbo for a starter. Was ok, but not as thick as I would like. The jambalaya was ok as well (not much Cajun in these here parts), but it really lacked the shrimp and seafood aspect. For lunch, try should offer a lunch portion. Overall, nice little place and beats your chains located by the highway exit.

Such a great restaurant to hang out with friends and family, new ownership has shown that it is very great and I am impressed. I would recommend the fried green beans and the burgers, they are amazing!

The Fabianos are doing a great job! The atmosphere is great--relaxed and clean--and the staff is friendly and fast. I had the French Dip yesterday--one of the best I've had! I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can sit outside!

I've been here about 5 times now and have been disappointed each time... This place is old, run down, unkempt, and puts out very low quality food. On top of that, the wait times from the kitchen are lonngggggg... They need a big refresher.... Great location, though!

I alway enjoy going here. They have great food. The gumbo is great on a cold day. I always take guest from out of town here. One warning, and the only reason they didn't get five stars. Their service is extremely slow. It doesn't matter if their packed or just one other table, expect a wait. They need to improve their wait staff training big time, but I keep going back for the food.

Okay Bill now it's a toss up between your cousins traditional Ruben and your California Ruben. Iove them both. Oh by the way his cousin manages the Eagle Inn check them both out.

Ok at first glance I thought this looked like a good place for good food in a small town. Unfortunately it wasn't. We stopped for a late lunch so maybe the kitchen wasn't prepped. I ordered the Fish and Chips, chicken strips for my son and blackened chicken salad for my husband. My husband was pleasantly surprised his salad was good however mine and my sons were absolutely terrible. My way too salty fish and fries were sooooo soggy! How do you mess up fish and chips? My sons fries were also soggy and the breading on the chicken was just weird. Kudos to the waitress on the chicken, she tried to explain the breading to me. Oh well. Service was just ok she was nice but we had to get our own highchair and my husband had to take the bill up to the bar to pay. There were only 2 tables eating but she was to busy to pick up the bill. I will never go there again. It looks like the food was good in the past but not now.

We were on a road trip and it was getting late. When we walked in, the place looked run down and I was afraid of what we might be in for. The food was great. I had the 8oz sirloin, my husband had a hamburger. Glad we stopped.

Duke's Cajun Grill in Mighty Portland MI is quite the hot spot in the summer time on the patio. On a day of deluge in April, it is a good spot to reacquaint and quell the thirst. Dukes has often been a spot for me to venture to, partly because the options in the metropolis are limited and partly because they do have good food! I have had several of the menu items in the past to include the burgers. Dukes has a decent beer selection and I was happy to try a Michigan brew Perrin. This beer would have been better under the springtime sun, but who can control these things. The burgers we tried were the Bayou and the Bacon Cheddar. Both were half pounders and both came with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The Bayou had BBQ sauce, peppers, and pepper jack cheese. ( My personal fave!) The Bacon Cheddar came with..... Bacon and cheddar! Bacon Cheddar- Burger- 4 Price- 3 Service- 5 Overall- 3.75 Bayou- Burger- 4.5 Price- 3 Service- 4 Overall- 3.5 Both burgers were cooked perfect and our glasses never reached the bottom. The service should have been amazing, since my sister was part of the wait staff things better have been prime. With or without the family staff, Dukes is a fun place for beers and good food! facebook.com/barburgerqu…

Jumblya was good. Lots of shrimp and crawfish, very spicy. Ask about lunch specials, they are not on the menu.

We met friends here because it is near the middle between Williamston and Grand Rapids. What a surprise. When we walked in I knew it could be a nice surprise or a horrible experience. The place is not much to look at. It is a very simple bar & grill. The food is, however, is quite good. I had a pizza with garlic & olive oil base topped with ham, italian sausage and pepperoni. I was quite pleased with it. I am picky as far as pizza goes and this was solid. My wife had a cajun pasta dish that was quite tasty as well. My one knock was with the salad. The honey mustard dressing was essentially pure mustard. I like mustard, but it needs the balance of the honey to make it a suitable dressing. I was stunned to see the Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay on the wine list, and it was only $45. I have seen it for nearly twice that at some restaurants.

Let me start by saying we ate here once a year or so ago. I don't remember exactly what we had, but I do remember walking away very happy with our experience. Knowing this, we decided to meet the inlaws for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. Portland is 1/2 way between our houses, so we decided to make it easy for all of us- but let's face it, there aren't a ton of choices to eat in this town. Duke's it was. I was very excited to go back and eat here, so I walked in with deservedly-so high hopes. Sadly, a good dinner was not in the cards. Our party of 5 ordered the following: Chips/Salsa for app, Thin crust pepperoni/mushroom pizza, nachos with grilled chicken, shrimp jambalaya (with the waitress recommended jalapeno pasta instead of the rice, and kids chicken strips/fries. All sounded wonderful. Now for the low-down on the choices: Chips/Salsa- Chips seemed overdone, salsa was good/ok, but not enough of it. Pizza: Tons of crust (and not in a good way), tons of rubbery cheese, hardly any toppings. Nachos: Obviously sat under the lights too long. Burned chips on top, soggy chips in the middle. Jambalaya/Pasta: Tasteless. Not spicy at all, not really anything at all, just tomato-ey. It also sat under the lights forever, and was dried out on the top. Chicken fingers: Dried out and thisclose to being all out burned. Overall, very unimpressed. We had such high hopes for this to be a great meal, and we all left pretty disappointed. Bummer.

Got jambalaya, gumbo and garlic mashed potatoes. It wasn't bad. I wouldn't say it blew my mind, but I was pleased, especially for a town like Portland. I'd come back, but wouldn't go out if my way to come here again. Service was very friendly and prompt.

Without going into a lot of detail.. this is a really great place for Portland MI. I've been here a half dozen times or more and always have enjoyed the food. They spice it up real nice and 'cajun' like. The pizza is good, the cajun is good and when the weather is nice, they have a terrific little bar/deck outside.

Try. The. Gumbo. Being a Cajun restaurant, Duke's needed to have good gumbo for me to be a fan and they truly did. Likewise, the hushpuppies are delicious. I also had a black n bleu burger cooked to order and was perfectly done. The atmosphere is casual and perhaps a little too close. However, the food and the service more than made up for any atmosphere issues.
