Best grinders ever on fabulous homemade bread. Will definitely be back whenever driving through Portland!
Great place for grinders! We found it by accident and very glad we did. Oven roasted sandwiches, aka grinders as those from the east coast call them. Stop in, you won't be disappointed.
Found this with the help of Yelp's app while traveling out to Grand Rapids and found ourselves needing a quick lunch stop on the way. Great grinders and definitely affordable! This is largely a take-out place with a few dine-in tables and serves a menu of grinders, pizza, a few other Italian specialties and burritos. What it lacks in decor, it makes up for with a friendliness and a quick, hot meal with quality ingredients. We opted for grinder combos (six-inch sandwiches, a pop and chips for about $7 apiece). The owner was behind the counter the day we stopped in here and, finding it was our first time at the place, explained the menu and how the sandwiches featured fresh, house-made bread. We had Italian and BBQ chicken grinders. Fresh veggies on the sandwiches and the fresh bread really made the difference between these tasty sandwiches and the usual run-of-the-mill sandwiches you get at fast-food places. Tim was looking for quick stops for when he starts riding his motorcycle again in the spring for longer distance trips, and this one is definitely on his list.

Was not at all as good as I thought it would be based on the reviews. I ordered the 1/2 lb chicken breast, but in all actuality ended up with a 4oz (and that's being generous) chewy mess. Last time I ever pay $12 for something like that :( I do have to say that other people at my table got burgers/fries and those did look good.
Decent food, & if its a nice night the patio is awesome! I love the Cajun sausage wrap but their thin crust white pizza & jambalaya are also outstanding. Service can be slow, especially inside.
First, disregard old reviews, because this place changed hands a few months ago. The new owners are making some nice improvements, with more underway. Our service was very prompt and friendly, and all the staff were professional in appearance (during past visits when it was Duke's, this was not always the case). I tried the pulled pork sandwich, with a side of house-cut sweet potato fries. Nice soft bun, tasty pulled pork with a tomato-based sauce, and a generous serving of fries. I also tried my friend's jambalaya, which was traditional and delicious - just could have used a bit more rice or less broth. The food came out quickly and was piping hot - even the fries - which is important! The building is a bit run down, but that's part of the charm. It's clean and doesn't detract from the dining experience. I'm looking forward to dining on their river(s)front patio when the weather gets a bit warmer - it looks like they are putting in an outdoor fireplace, which should be a nice addition.

First time going the The Gallery and I will definitely be back! The brew pub was filled with featured local artwork which made for a great atmosphere. They also had live music which was fantastic! The food was excellent and so was the beer. Being a vegetarian, I was very impressed with the wide variety of tasty options. I had the hummus and flatbread, I would recommend that! The beer was great! The service was even better! My husband and I had Jeremy as our server/bartender and he was very knowledgeable about the beer! Love this place! It is a total gem in Portland!
The Gallery Brewery has a welcoming atmosphere (with rotating art from local artist), and very friendly staff. I've become a frequent customer, bringing friends from Lansing, as well as meeting up with friends coming from the Grand Rapids area, it a great mid-point gathering place! I've greatly enjoyed getting and sharing many of the food options available, not only delicious, but it's not the typical "fried food" found at most bars which I greatly appreciate. I'm new to the micro beer scene, so not much of a connoisseur, but have enjoyed the Gothic Golden, the Baroque Brown, as well as some of the seasonal offerings. My friends have really liked their IPA. The Gallery Brewery is a great addition to the downtown Portland area. We will happily return again and again.
I tend to give new brewpubs a chance and don't write reviews if I don't like them. But seeing how defensive the owner was to a review I thought I would back the reviewer. I tasted sort of a detergent taste which I assume had nothing to do with the glass. Just an off flavor for me. This brewery and Eagle Monk are my least favorite in Michigan

Food is average to below average, the prices are high for what you receive. Restaurant needs a MAJOR update that includes not having a messy managers/owners desk right in the middle of it. No one wants to pay to go out to eat- only to sit and watch a person pay bills and surf the net on a computer, surrounded by a cluttery mess of papers and books. If we wanted to see that, we would eat at home! lol Needless to say, Under-impressed (and still hungry) We won't be back.
Great food and service was stellar
We had a very bad experience here. We came on a busy Sunday morning and were seated right away and ordered our food right away. So far so good. We then proceeded to wait for almost an HOUR, literally, for our food. After about half and hour we asked our server where our food was, and she sent the manager over who proceeded to tell us they were busy and it would "be a while." She said she was sorry, but couldn't we see that they were busy? (She gestured around the restaurant to help us realize that they were, indeed, busy, and that that should be a reasonable explanation for waiting so long.) She told us there were 6 orders ahead of ours and that it would be another 10 minutes. After 15 minutes passed we asked again about our food (we needed to be somewhere) and the manager told us there were two orders still ahead of ours. She was not apologetic and we left. It was incredible that the manager has such an attitude and no clue about how to manage a restaurant. It's an hour of our lives we'll never get back. We're still hungry! :(

It's your standard subway in a gas station. The quality is what you'd expect from a chain (personally, I don't like it). Servers were fast and polite, counter was clean. Not much more to say about it, only go if you're already there for gas, unless you LOVE subway.

Dont be in a hurry! Had to wait an hour just to get my food. While waiting I could find workers casually carrying on conversations with no sense of urgency to get me my food. I got the cinnamon swirl french toast, which was actually pretty good other than the fact that it was burnt past char on the bottom. I would recommend the item on the menu when cooked properly.
