If I'm in the mood for a meatball sub, then Angelo ' s is my choice. Although the location in a strip mall doesn't indicate it, the food is very good. Be prepared to wait for a table at lunch.

the one thing i look forward to when i go fly out to kalamazoo for work... the sicilian sandwich... fagetaboutit... awesome... the homemade soups are awesome too! haven't tried the pizza yet but the sandwiches are all amazing... spaghetti and meatballs are pretty good too... right next to the airport so it's always the first place i go before i check into my hotel...

Great little spot. Warm atmosphere and very helpful staff. Food was perfectly proportioned and very filling. All of the reviews are accurate. I'd give 6 stars if I could to the garlic cheesy bread. Three generations all eating exactly what they want. Happy campers all around.

The wacky bread is to die for!!! Their grinders are amazing, just the right amount of bread vs toppings. And the pizza dough is definitely one of the best I've tasted. And can we say loaded to the max with toppings! Awesome!!

Great lunch specials. Grinders were excellent. The jalapeño mayo was worth the extra 50 cents.

I found this place on Yelp. It's a small joint in a strip mall, plain decor but good food. I had the grinder and it was delicious. It's a simple pizza place but inexpensive and good. It was quick but I was there early so there weren't not a lot of people.

Saw this place on yelp and decided to try it. Convenient from airport and my hotel. Awesome! Best calzone I've ever had. Will probably go back and try a sandwich before the week is over. Update: sandwich was good too! :)

I work across the street and love coming here for lunch. Their soups and grinders are delicious, and the portions are big. I haven't had their pizza yet, but I hear it's delicious. The pasta is really yummy and comes with a huge portion of sinful, buttery garlic bread. If you fly into AZO, stop here on the way to your hotel. You won't regret it.

This unassuming little restaurant is obviously a local favorite. We came here twice for lunch during our one week assignment in Portage. I had the taco wrap twice. It was deliciously spiced without being too salty. The chili was hearty and tasty as well. If you are passing through town or have a 30+ minute layover at the Portage airport, head over to Angelo's for a hearty no fuzz meal. You won't be disappointed! One word of caution....the place was packed for lunch on both days we were there. Seats were limited and the wait time can be long (+15 minutes depending on size of party and what was ordered). Just a heads up.

My favorite sub/grinder shop in southwest Michigan! The Italian deluxe grinder is my favorite.

Good little family-owned grinder place. Never had a bad lunch here, lots of variety, and a good value.

Angelo's is the city's best kept secret. Easily my favorite place to eat in the city, great food every time, polite and knowledgable staff. They're doing everything perfect.

The place opens right on time. It seems to be very popular among locals. Their CALZONE is the way to go.

Needed 10 pizzas of various toppings. Chose Angelo's based on yelp selections. All were excellent. Cheese bread was excellent as well. Would use them again in a heartbeat.

I absolutely LOVE their pizza, but I've never tried anything else there. Everything else looks good and there's a nice variety. Unfortunately, their location, in front of the airport in a little plaza, makes it difficult to even notice they're there. Order up a couple of pizzas and give 'em a shot. They usually have a 2-pizza deal going and you can just call from work and pick it up on your way home. Portage Road is on the way home for lots of people!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
