Happy food and happy service. After one visit, I'm hooked and this is officially our go-to spot for Gun Lake-weekends. Beer, solid. Burger, solid. Cuban, solid. "The Big Pig", awesome. AND, it's a great atmosphere in a cool building. Especially considering the lack of options within a 20-25min drive, this place shines brightly. Can't wait to hit it back.

First of owner was extremely nice and talkative and gave us a tour of the entire place. Very impressed with his friendly demeanor and attitude. Now to the food and service. Service was a 5 - Abby was friendly attentive fast and cute! Food was a 4.6 - Had the depot dip which was very good tender especially with the onions and mushrooms. Only thing held it back was the fries which were a bit overcooked for me. So overall? 4.8 but I rounded up to a 5 not down to a 4 for the stars.

Living in Allegan Old Mill is the best choice in a brewery without driving to Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids. If you eat at Old Mill id suggest starting with the artichoke dip as an app and then a burger for main course- other options arent so great.. The beer is pretty good ive enjoyed the IPAs but the crazy beaver cream ale is my favorite.. Overall a solid brewery that you should give a try...

For a brewery, beer isn't bad. As far as a Resturant goes, I've had better and I've had worse. Just kinda run of the mill type of place. :-)

Nice work on refurbishing the old 1870 Plainwell flour mill, to a very nice spot to grab a burger and a beer. The have some very good burgers (try the "Feedbag" if you dare) and wraps to go with the great beers. The beer flight is good way to try to sample some of their beers.

One of the best experiences I've had in a brewery. The staff is very friendly and nice.. Makes you feel very welcome. You don't know what to expect when you pull up, but it's beautiful inside. Great I.p.a's, attention to detail, clean restroom, good service. This should be the standard for all Michigan breweries!

Nice place. Very unique place with very friendly staff. The Buckwheat Brown was really good, especially with my chili. Had the fried pickles as well which were very tasty. Highly recommend this place.

Ordered the mushroom Swiss burger which is my all time fav now. My fiancé and kids enjoyed their food also. Nice atmosphere. Only problem I had was the waitress accidentally gave us the next tables tab and I didn't realize until after she swiped my credit card. Took a couple days but the money was refunded. I think they should've offered some discount since my account was charged over $100 for a $40 meal. But they didn't. Still will return, as I know it was just an accident.

Wonderful food at a reasonable price. The shrimp and clams were great. The current 7 beers are all outstanding...I will return for another "Flight" of six. Can't wait for the coming chocolate stout! We will return as soon as possible.

Haven't got our food yet, but will say service leaves a lot to be desired. Waitress has walked by 8 times and there have been empty beer glasses, hasn't asked of we'd like a refill. Wooden Shoe Wheat OK, Island City IPA is good, Passion Fruit Ale is heavy. Food arrived, sandwiches are okay.

Superb service, friendly staff, owner personable, and prices reasonable. Great hamburgers and fries. I am thankful to have them in our city and will be a regular there too. Let's eat!!!

Great place to get a good bite to eat and they brew some great beers. The waitstaff is great and the owner one of best guys around he greets and chats with everyone. I recommend people to give the place a try and u leave with a full stomach with a heavy wallet still. Friday night fish special and sat a beef special. Plus during the weekdays they have great specials.

This place is great. You won't see people dressed to the 9's, but it's definitely a notch up the ladder from some of the other local establishments. The food is delicious, the beers are West Michigan's best, and the servers are knowledgeable about both. The building and decor are great - a bit of a rustic lodge feel. As for the claustrophobic comment that someone else made, I don't know about that at all. It has plenty of great lighting and it's very open. I don't think it's meant to be a dining hall.

Great food, beer and family friendly atmosphere. We waited for 25 minutes on a Saturday night for party of six which I didn't think was too bad. My husband had a burger and it was delicious and cooked to order. I had the grain elevator sandwich which was yummy too. They have a lot of choices for kids and adults alike.

Great food! Great atmosphere! The owner is super friendly! Sometimes when it's busy the weight can be a little long to get a seat. Love it!

This was my first time here. We were seated very quickly and the place was really crowded. I ordered the prime rib sandwich with provolone on a grilled hoagie. The bun was good and crusty. The prime rib was tasty too. The French fries were hot and also good. The prices were also very reasonable. For what this place is its good. I recommend

The food was awesome, the service was better. The owner came over to the table and made me feel like we were old friends. We will definitely come back.

Updated for the fact that Old Mill now brews their own! WOWZA! We got here and there was about a 30 minute wait, pretty reasonable for a Friday night. We headed off with the family to the mug club room where everyone else was waiting and played some very competitive Uno together. Great to see families just hanging out playing Uno, Chess, cards, together. LOVE IT Dinner was great. Probably the best burger and sammy menu I've ever seen as far as the quality vs quantity debate goes. We all had plenty of options to choose from. I would much rather see a decent burger menu done well than a bunch of entrees done terribly. I had the black eyed pea soup and it was amazing. Had just enough zip to it and yum, yum, YUM. Hubby enjoyed some stout and declared it delicious. I had my traditional glass of chardonnay and loved it as well. The manager (owner?) made his rounds to every table chit chatting and asking how things were. For a busy Friday night we did not feel hustled out the door or neglected. Thought it was pretty good last time, but darn they made it even better this time!

This is my favorite brew pub for food. The Cuban sandwich is awesome! The beers are coming along too. I really liked the IPA that I had last week. I am pretty sure you won't be sorry you went to the Old Mill Brewpub.

This is my favorite restaurant in the Plainwell area and definitely one of my favorites in the Kalamazoo area. The specials and soups are always excellent. The owner is frequently on site and takes an active role in making us feel personally welcome. He features local Michigan beers and has now his own beer on tap as well. The environment here is awesome. The owner has done an amazing job converting the old grain mill to a unique dining experience. The food is great and at such a reasonable price you can go often!

This place has good food and good drinks. This place also had an awesome interior. This place is in a good location near Plainwell Ice Cream and Dean's Ice Cream. Also near the Ransom Library and a couple parks.

The burgers and sandwiches are really good, the service is good and the beer is fantastic. It's a bit dark inside and you definitely know you're eating in an "old mill." I've been here a few times and I'll be back for a burger sometime soon.

Excellent place with good food. Scott has a sergeant methodology which means he wants to make sure the customer is happy. The bartenders are helpful and they move fast to help. Such a great place to visit.

I've been to Old Mill several times. They have one of my favorite microbrews from Atwater on tap, so that is reason enough to stop. I've enjoyed my food each time and never had a problem with the service. It is often busy and you may wait for a table on a weekend night.

Have been here a few times now since opening. Always at the bar to eat and a couple brews and a cocktail or two. Service 5 stars. Food wonderful. They have it all together now. Plus the staff seem to enjoy their job and each other. Makes a huge difference. :)

Best olive burger I have had in a long time. The beer is great, I had the crazy beaver cream ale and it is great! Whole family was extremely happy with their meals and alcohol beverages. Abby was our server and she was genuinely nice and was very knowledgable about the menu as well. She handled her whole section very well, and still made everyone feel important. Great food, great service, great beer.... Just great!

They now bred on the premises with some very nice results - much improved! But still a bit claustrophobic....

This is the only dinner restaurant we eat at when we ski bittersweet. Five Star Food with Three Star Prices. Exquisite atmosphere.

After reading the reviews here on Yelp, we decided to try this place. We were seated right away but by the time we left, the place was packed. I had one of their specialty hamburgers. I thought it was quite tasty. The server was a doll and the prices were a bargain. Atmosphere? Sports bar, which is not my cup of tea but if you like lots of different beers and TVs, go! I'd go back next summer (I was on vacation).

Best burgers around! Salads are also nice. chicken strips are homemade & tasty! Owners help run the front of house and are super friendly, especially to our girls. Nice selection of local beers, can't wait until they start brewing their own. Overall, a great local place to take the family for some awesome food that doesn't bust the bank.

We went later in the evening around 10pm on a Saturday when there was a private party going on upstairs. The chef was accomodating to our specific food requests, the server was really nice & attentive, and the beer was delicious!

This is one our favorite places in Plainwell. The staff immediately welcomes you and the service is great. The food is delicious and although they have a smaller menu their specials bring and quality ingredients make it a favorite.

Unique atmosphere and decent food, but still rough edges. Wait staff is unseasoned. We were two of a party of four and waited for 10 minutes after being seated before waitress came to take a drink order. Not sure but it was almost as if they were waiting until the rest of our party showed. After that, the waitress was trying to push us through. Three times within 10 minutes she interrupted the table asking if we were ready to order. The whole dinning experience was dominated by the waitress trying to turn the table. The food is ok (except the crab cakes that are frozen probably straight from Gordon foods) and the micro brew selection is good. Probably won't return, but it's worthy of one trip to decide for yourself.

It's a brew pub with excellent pub food. Great atmosphere! Patty melt was delicious. Don't be in a hurry and enjoy the mill.

This a great family friendly, no-frills brew pub. There's plenty of parking outside, it's a quick walk to the center of Plainwell, and the prices here are really good. I had the Fear Biter Black IPA and the blackened grilled chicken. They did a pretty good job with the IPA an the chicken was succulent. Overall a great, cheap dinner.

Atmosphere and their staff are the best. The owner will come around and introduce himself and ask if everything was prepared to your liking. Some nights, there is a wait, relax and try one of their homemade beers. My husband and I have been there a lot and we have tried different dishes, so far everything has been delicious.

Very nice people here, good friendly service. I was happy I'd ordered the blackened chicken dinner. I got it with extra broccoli and it was really good. Prices are very reasonable. Awesome authentic old mill atmosphere.

My friend and I stopped here on our way to a horse show in Illinois. The place looks great. The owner was friendly and told us to go ahead and look around-even at the banquet hall upstairs. As a former bar/restaurant owner I am a little picky about food quality and service, both of which were excellent here. I will stop here again when I am in the area and I have already recommended the place to friends.

Man do they have great food. It's a really beautiful place and neat atmosphere. I have to say that one of the coolest things are the owner comes out and will stand and talk to you like your family. One of the nicest people I've ever met. I love this place..

Old Mill is located in an interesting renovated flour mill in Plainwell. Our group of 6 stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, and snagged the last available table. The building is pretty cool. They've put a lot of wood inside, so it looks kind of like a cabin. It's almost a bit too much of a hokey Cracker Barrel style "country cabin." We took a peek at the upstairs, and it's an amazing looking event space with the huge ceiling high overhead. Service was super friendly, and a big-wig (owner? manager?) checked in on us. Beers were OK. Nothing wrong with them, just kind of middling. IPAs a bit weak. The big downside was the food. It's mostly sub-par bar food. The six of us all ate different things, and nobody was impressed. I don't know if the burgers are frozen, but it sure seemed like it. The dishes *looked* fine, but everything just tasted so-so, as if we were eating at some dive bar where the menu is mostly pre-made fried stuff and OK burgers. They need to step-up their menu a bit and add some more unique options, or at least stray from the lazy route of burgers and fried stuff at lunch. Maybe the dinner menu is better? Still, it's a local place, and I'm glad to see it's popular and people are supporting a local pub instead of eating at the Applebees down the road.

The food is standard and reasonably priced. It's nothing special but it's decent. The beer on the other hand is nothing to write home about and it's incredibly overpriced. They absolutely refuse to fill growlers from any other establishments which, to me, says a lot. Most breweries are happy to fill any growler, the ones that don't typically don't have quality brew and only care about the price point. A quality brewery wouldn't care about the glass the beer leaves in they just care that what leaves in the glass is a quality product. There is simply no passion or creativity on the brewing end here and it shows.

Really enjoyed Old Mill. Food was well prepared, flavorful, served quickly and at the right temp. Beer selection offers something for everyone. Good prices. It's no frills, but just what you need if you are looking for a quick, decent meal and a rustic atmosphere.
