I've eaten here for breakfast many times and never been disappointed. Their omelets are wonderful, their pumpkin pancakes are a treat and the service is always prompt and professional (and friendly). We brought a party of 18 in there last Sunday morning and they didn't bat an eye. Still provided excellent service and the same great food. My daughter was craving pasta instead of breakfast food and enjoyed the spaghetti with marinara sauce. This tends to be a locals place but we always feel welcome. Don't let the dated exterior deter you.

So I read all the other reviews kept all that in mind while I ordered and looked over the menu. My waitress was fast polite accurate and refills flowed in like a stream the fresh unsweetened tea was really good. The peach tea too. I ordered the liver and onions with a side of hash my wife ordered skillet breakfast it was hot steamy fresh layered in flavor and came with three mini pancakes that were fluffy and delicious. We sat ordered and within 15 min our food was here at the table and we promptly ate in almost didn't take photos it was deffinately worth experiencing on my own it seems locals come here alot so it should show they know the food is good and the locals were friendly and not rude and didn't make us feel un welcomed at all. If your in Michigan swing by and give it a try you won't be disappointed.

We recently stopped in last weekend for the first time. This is your classic diner/breakfast restaurant. We went on a Sunday morning and the place was packed but not so much that there was a wait. I thought the food was solid but not the best I've had from a diner. They did not have fresh fruit which was a bummer but otherwise this place delivers exactly what you would expect. A decent meal, friendly and timely service, and a for the most part clean and welcoming atmosphere. We will come here again for sure.

I hate to even give this place even one star. Walked in with my elderly parents and no one greeted us. Multiple waitresses looked at us while we stood there for five minutes. My mother who has a bad back had to eventually sit down while we waited to be seated. Finally after somebody came up to the cash register to ring three people out after their dinner and still no greeting to us we walked out. Traveling from Chicago I would expect at least a little hospitality from such a nice town.

Well if you like instant potatoes that are dried out, stove top stuffing with no taste, burned texas toast two paper thin pieces of turkey this is the place to go. The service was ok, but the food was terrible. The hamburgers are frozen patties with no flavor and the fries just had no flavor. When talking to the manager he said the potatoes are one of the best sellers. Wow how scary that people want instant potatoes and not homemade. I would never go back. BEWARE.

My family frequently goes to this restaurant and while most of the time we get good food and good service, sometimes the food is sub-par. If you want large helpings for an amazing price and you don't mind cheaper ingredients, this is the place for you. This is a great place for kids because the staff is really welcoming, and the kids' meal prices are $2.99.

Wow, fantastic breakfast experience. Great attention to detail (butter packets were soft, etc). The breakfast food was first rate and came and came to us very shortly after our order. I'm coming here whenever I'm in the area.

This is a difficult to rate restaurant. On the one hand, the food was pretty good. I got the monster burger and my wife got a chicken wrap. Both were good and the fries were really good. On the other hand, though, is the service. The hostess was some teen-low 20's girl that couldn't care less about anything. Very unhappy and monotone in her delivery. We seemed like a bother that we walked in. Keep in mind, there were 3 total tables used up when we entered, so there was not way it was a "busy, stressful" night. Thankfully, our waitress was much better. Very bubbly and outgoing. Not the most attentive waitress, but friendly. Once we got our food, though, we never saw her until the check. The hostess and her spent the entire meal chatting about who knows what in the back. If the service was better, I would have ranked this place a 4 or 5 star because the food and price was great. The service left a lot to be desired.

Friendly greeting and quick seating. Unfortunately the waitress didn't share the same charm. Experienced the most sarcastic service ever. I guess answering questions isn't in her job describtion, in her dream world. This apparently Angers her. So she resorts to childish behavior. It's smart in some twisted way because she can be mean to your face but with her friendly voice and words it seams she's just overly nice to anyone over hearing her BUT her straight mean face says it all. Then some. The food was ok but the home made bread was great. Best advice is stay away from the one older lady with short blonde/gray hair if you're not a local.

Breakfast at JW's is as good as it gets. The eggs are always cooked perfect, they have the best breakfast meats, and when Shawn is cooking the hashbrowns are golden brown & delicious. The head busboy John really runs a tight ship. Can't wait to go back!

Nice little family brunch stop. Classic northern Michigan atmosphere. A little outdated and too much like a Big Boy's to get 4 stars, but I recommend it if that is what you are looking for.

Looked for over an hour for a place to eat between Petoskey and Harbor Springs, and back again to Petoskey. Ask two different individuals for recommendations; one in each town. The whole town of HS was closed this Sunday, thus back to Pet. Had spotted JW's on the way to HS. After the run-around and out of desperation, we defaulted to JW's. What a nice surprise to our hungry souls to just find a place other than a chain. The young girl who seated us requested our drink order. We ask if the tea was fresh brewed which threw her for a loop. She did not know what we meant. Did get that straightened out after some queries back and forth. A more experienced waitress came to take order; which came extremely quick. I ordered the BLT wrap w/ fries. It was surprising good, tho the cheddar cheese and 1000 island dressing seemed an odd combo; fries right out of the fryer. Hubby ordered the Reuben which he said was good. So I wld recommend this place for a diner style lunch; breakfast all day looked popular too. Somewhat shabby/aged decor but still clean enough.
