The waitress was really nice and the place looks good from the street. Very average burger and chips. Would have given 3 stars but was just really dirty with a sticky layer over everything and the ketchup bottles look like they have been refilled for years since last washed.

The location was great, nice view of the water. All the servers were hanging out by the door which seemed odd, maybe a slow night. I ordered the Tuscan chicken and my husband the steak. The chicken dish was tasty, but mostly because of the wild rice and vegetables. The actual grilled chicken breast was dry with melted mozerella, very bland. My husband liked his steak, and the sweet potato fries were very good.

The food is good but our service was AMAZING! My husband was born and raised here so he'd never brought me here- I made him today- well worth it he and I both agree... Nothing like the lake, beer, GREAT service and good food-- nice job Heidi

Don't bother unless your coming for the patio to drink. Food is barely average. Spinach artichoke dip tasted like warm mayonnaise dip with artichokes, not good. Our server never cleared our appetizer plate or small plates so we had that to stare at throughout dinner. Fish and chips, nothing to write home about, plain no seasoning. Best thing was the fries. Sad we can't find a "gem" in Pentwater. We were seated in the back area where there was no wall or door to block off the kitchen so we were serenaded with heavy metal music and random signing to said music (which was way louder than the house music) while we ate. Worst $70 I've spent while I've been here.

We were seated immediately but then 15 minutes passed and there was no attempt to provide any kind of service. We therefore left the restaurant and went across the street to eat. Upon exiting I did mention to the staff that no one had come to wait on us. They made no apologies, they made no attempt to take an order, there were no less than five of them sitting in the front window chatting. It wasn't a busy night, and now I understand why. It's a wonder they stay in business.

I know I've been to the Village Pub a few times. My most recent experience is what is sticking out to me. A few of us were staying up in Pentwater and decided to go into town for dinner. We had forgotten that World Cup games were on, so most places were packed. Thankfully, Village Pub was able to seat us right away. Unfortunately, we were seated in a dimly lit basement. It was a very strange environment for a restaurant. For a bar I totally understand it, but to eat it was not ideal. It was nice that they had big screens so we could watch the games though. They serve Perrin grapefruit IPA here!!! That was the saving grace to the meal. I don't recall what I ordered (fish & chips, maybe?), but I remember it was fine. Not great, but not bad either. Overall the experience was fine, but I'm not sure it would be my top choice of restaurants next time I'm in Pentwater.

I hope you packed your phantom tollbooth. The bar is an awesome cede trip into the past. It seems like there would be backroom cold war deals made in this bar. But make sure you are sober when you come here. I was and almost couldn't find it. You have to go down some stairs through a few doors, round a few corners and then knock on the paneling and open a secret entrance. Ok, i may have made up that last part but this place is not easy to get to. The signs and the restaurant make you think its going to be no big deal, but it appears that the bar is a well kept secret. It was fun and the bartender was nice and the drinks were very well priced. I will definitely be back. If I can find it. I did not go in the street level restaurant, so you're on your own for that one.

When I ordered my bloody mary spicy, the tough biker gentlemen next to me said 'oh it's spicy little girl'. It wasn't spicy, it was barely drinkable. There is a difference between spicy and setting your throat on fire. Don't get me wrong, I love a good spicy bloody mary, but this one wasn't even palatable. I also ordered the chips and salsa. The stale chips did not mesh well with the bland salsa. It had no flavor at all. My server was a space cadet. It took her a good 10 minutes to realize I was there, even though she crossed my path a half a dozen times. The sandwiches ordered at the table across from me arrived before my chips and salsa and my check took forever to cash out. There is really no reason for me to ever return to the Village Café.

Great service, sat outside, very pleasant. Oberon, & grapefruit IPA beer, fried asparagus, Soft shell crab sandwich all very good.

Since we are not from the area, we depended on a local from Silver Lake who referred this place. It was my wife's 48th Birthday. We were told by the waiter that they were out of Delmonico Steaks and 4 other items (mostly appetizers) so we ordered Prime RIb. Then we were told that they were out of that. We ordered the Top Sirloin at $19.00 a plate and I ordered a side salad. I ordered mine Medium Rare and my wife ordered Medium Well. Salad came out and I would bet my life that it was no more than a cup full of salad. 3 small cherry tomatoes and a few pieces of cucumber. And the thing was $2.99. The steaks came out with 5 small whole potatoes which were cooked to death and barely warm. I cut into my steak which was small and it was cooked well done. My wife's steak was charred and over well done. It was so bad, we refused to eat the steaks. No taste what so ever. I was so disappointed not to mention that it was my wife's birthday too. So for supper we had a bowl of cereal. Do not, I repeat do not go to this place.

Beer-battered deep fried local asparagus: 4 stars Prices: 2 stars (too high!) Other stuff we had: 3 stars Service: typical Michigan down-to-earth friendliness, although could have been better, 2.5 stars

The village cafe was just alright in my book. Most of the seating is outdoors, and there is a small view of water from most of the tables, which are picnic style tables. The waitstaff was very friendly, even though they got our checks mixed up several times at the end. As far as food goes, it was just simply alright. They didn't have many vegetarian options, so I opted for the Mediterranean platter, which was a hummus appetizer. It was huge, a great value. It was decent enough taste wise, but nothing spectacular. Almost everyone else got some sort of fish dish, which they said were very good, especially the fish and chips.

This restaurant gets 2.5 stars. I knew right off the bat that it would be just an average restaurant, mostly because their veggie burger is advertised as "Morningstar Farms popular black bean and corn patty topped with guacamole, mixed greens and tomato" (which I have a box of in my freezer). I figured if their veggie burger was a frozen grocery store item, other items must be, too. My friend and I had the portobello chicken pasta. It looked nothing like the picture in the menu, but was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. It was supposed to have vegetables in it, but I had to dig for just a few small pieces of asparagus. The menu actually said it came with broccoli or asparagus and since the waitress never asked, I ended up with the latter. My other friend ordered a burger, which was again, good, not great. My friend's fiance ordered the French Dip, which he said was very good. The wine list was limited but had a couple nice selections. I didn't enjoy the ambiance at all. We sat outdoors and there was a musician. He was so loud that the bass was vibrating our table. We asked if the speaker could be turned down, which management said it was, but we didn't notice a difference. Inside seemed, honestly, dirty. Not dirty like there was food on the floor, but dirty like the carpet seemed old, the furniture seemed like it belonged in a retirement home and the (public) bathroom was beyond disgusting. I wouldn't go back if given a choice, but wouldn't object if that's where the evening took us. On the plus side, our waitress was fantastic - super attentive and friendly.

Beer-battered asparagus = fantastic Greek salad = good Fresh Mussels in wine/butter sauce = wouldn't recommend (sparse on the mussels and they were small , two small pieces of bread, not a good value at all, taste wasn't bad) Nice patio

Fine dining in a casual atmosphere. Enjoy a great meal out on the deck or in the spacious dining room. Their new menu features prime rib, filet mignon, coconut shrimp, walleye, whitefish, and perch. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. or later. Live entertainment on the deck Friday and Saturday nights! Pricey!! Love the atmosphere, but the food is just ok. They make a great Bloody Mary!!

Pretty much a disappointment. The food was OK. Typical cafe food on the menu. I think I got a hamburger, so you know the menu was boring. I think we got the calamari appetizer, I've had that at a million places and this was at the bottom of that list. But it wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't overpriced for what you got. The only thing this place has going for it is a nice patio area overlooking the marina. Go there for drinks; skip the food.
