Stopped for lunch on the way to Alpena. What a pleasant surprise. Food was very fresh and very tasty. Had the turkey club that was served on fresh baked hoagie roll. It was jam packed with turkey and came with a side of redskin potato salad and cucumber. Picked up a cinnamon roll on the way out which was the size of my head! Great place.

Connies is a must-visit if you're looking for a good down-home american breakfast in the area. It's really the only place that you can get good home cooking between Oscoda and Alpena. The atmosphere is very quaint. There's about 20 tables all in one room and it has the atmosphere of eating in a large comfortable living room. Food is excellent (especially breakfast) and they have Cinnamon Buns the size of your head (literally). Our family eats here nearly every morning when in the area. Check it out!

Great breakfast spot along Rt. 23, was directed there by locals in Alpena. "Popeye Omelet" was very good, servings of (obviously homemade) bread maybe a bit much (4 1"thick slices - who can eat all 4?). Otherwise great meal! Good old-school home fries. Clearly home-made cinnamon 'buns' are each large enough for a family, and yet they look (surprisingly) very, very good...

Love connies. Great service, clean! Best friday fish fry with whiefish or cod or a combo...and garlic redskins. Great Skillet meals...wonderful pie...A friend mentioned that he loved a certain kind...Connie said come back this afternoon...she made it!

Discovered this gem today and it was the best thing to ever happen. The cinnamon roll literally the size of your head can easily satisfy 4-5 people think a cake. Very tasty breakfast as well. Give it a try.

Never had a bad meal at Connie's. Staff is friendly and has a homey and hospitable feel. If your diet can handle it try the sticky buns.

Connie's is a nice plate to eat. A little busy, and kind of uppity lately, but oh well. Have an omelette and four cinnamon rolls, and two to go.

Back up North Been here both for the Cinnamon Roll for Breakfast and for a Friday fish fry. First, the Cinnamon Roll. This is a 5 star. I remember when they said the total, it seemed like WAY to little. You would never find anything this good for the price in a Metropolitan area. Amazing. You must get one. Dinner service was good. A packed house at 6pm on a Friday during Lent, so take that for what you will. Everything clearly made in the back. The garlic redskin potato was very good. I had the perch (don't see that on the menu in Maryland very often) and it was tasty. Overall very friendly wait staff, could have used another refill, but still on point and prompt.

Very friendly staff. Outdoor area is screened in for the outdoor feel without the bugs. Food was fantastic, and they have their own homemade breads which are delicious. Only open until 2 pm unless it's Friday. Very good with kids!

Only eaten here for breakfast but you sure can tell by the crowds that this is the place to go when up in Ossineke or near by anyways. We went here two mornings and the place is packed with little seating (they have to close off a bit due to the colder temps). I had the mushroom cheese omelet and it was wonderful. The food here is very fresh and I would like to say homemade (although I do not know this for sure). It is on route 23 near the village of Ossineke. When you look outside you will see a garden, it is a Cancer Garden that was erected by Cancer survivors and people who survived as well contributed to it.

We've been going to Connie's for years, while we are at out cabin in Hubbard Lake. The food is always fresh, their Friday Fish Fry is wonderful. If you get a chance make sure you pick up a package of her homemade choc chip cookies, they are to die for!!

My first visit to Connie's was for breakfast while up deer hunting this past November. I don't remember the name of the meal but it was big. But more than anything it was very good. Frankly I have only one complaint. Connie's has set the bar so high nothing will come close. I will have to wait a year, but I will return. This was breakfast perfection.
