I'm sure we've all heard the rumors about the filth of this restaurant. The infamous reused bread baskets, and the sexist pig running the place, but it doesn't stop there. I stopped going there because aside from always getting some kind of hair in my food (which was probably chest hair on the account of Mr. Piggy always having his chest hair exposed) the last time I was there, my food was absolutely horrible. It tasted like it was dropped on the floor and then dunked in the grease trap for "flavor." The party I was with was also unhappy with their meals. We probably would have been better off digging through the dumpster. At least it would have been cheaper. I remember when I was younger, I went there to apply for a job. I was told not to bother because I would be miserable there. Everyone I've talked to, who has had personal experience working there (especially females) say that the owner is horrible to them. I honestly do not understand how this place is still in business. The only thing I can figure is that there's some kind of dirty business going on with the health department. It's a shame too, because it's so Flippin hard to find a gyro around here.

We've tried to eat here twice during or recent stay in Oscoda. The first breakfast was adequate. During our second stay we were ignored for 10 minutes before we left. They've been advertising for an experienced waitress for several weeks. Our last time there, the food was OK, but we had to swat flies continuously. It will remain our last time at Mama's Kitchen.

I ordered biscuits and gravy and received an obviously frozen and microwaved biscuit topped with a cup of gravy for $4.95. The coffee we were served tasted horrible and it was quite obvious that are meals were thawed out from the freezer. My friend asked for strawberry topping for his pancakes and was advised by the waitress to pass because the strawberry topping was frozen and would have to be microwaved before serving. Overall, our meal was disgusting and we would have been better off going to McDonald's instead.

Mama's Kitchen is a Greek restaurant with a good selection of Greek, Italian, and American meals. Located on US 23 just south of town. I'm particularly fond of their salads. They also do well on breakfast omelettes.

I was disappointed to see some 1 star reviews of this place. It was a great experience for my family and I. We were camping in Harrisville and decided to come down to this place for breakfast. It was jam packed - LITERALLY - there were no booths open. One of the waitresses clean off a table quick for us after the family eating there finished. Service was nice and fast, the food was really good, and we went back to camp happy. Their wait staff probably changed or something because my experience here was WAY better than the other people that reviewed this place.

My girlfriend and I were in town for a family reunion. The waitstaff was so nice... To everyone but us. The waitress took our order with an attitude, and we did not see her again until she dropped our food off. We were ONE bite into our food before she slapped down our bill and didn't say a word. Meanwhile every other table is being asked "How's your food? How are you today?" We finished eating, the food was ALRIGHT and just alright. The service was awful.

This was our first time staying in Oscoda and Mama's was recommended. We were there on a Sunday morning and they stayed busy. It took a while for them to take our order. The food was good and arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but was not hot. It was difficult to get coffee refills. There were quite a few tables that needed to be cleaned and the waitresses were always on the go. The man at the register was not real friendly. Never got a thank you from any of the staff. Would probably not go back with so many other choices in town. They need to hire more staff, especially on weekends.

Went up north last week-end to see my mother and auntie in Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville, Michigan. Me, my sister, and my great niece went up north and had a great time. But, Sunday morning we decide to go out to breakfast. We passed by Mama's Kitchen and both me and my sister have eaten here before. The Mama is big Greek older man - no Mama involved in this restaurant. I see that they have Potato Pancakes on their menu - ah, haven't had these in years and so I decide on that. My niece has a 1/2 order of pancakes and a 1/2 order of something else. My sister gets this skillet menu item with onions, eggs, potatoes, and I don't know what else along with the Rye toast. My potato pancakes arrive, OMG, they look like the hash browns from McDonalds! So, in other words they were not freshly made - they were out of the freezer section and ordered or bought at the local supermarket. I was very disappointed, oh well, it's only food! My sister is eating her food and she said the best part of her breakfast was the Rye Toast! My niece was, I think, satisfied with her plate. So, I will NEVER order their potato pancakes again and probably I will go back, simply because this is close to the nursing home and not disgusting, like I told my sister, "at least we didn't get sick"!!!

Not sure why the negative reviews. Happy they were open on Christmas Eve on our way further north. Very filling hot meal with included sides. Friendly attentive staff. We have always been happy eating here when traveling through the area.

My family and I (10 of us) chose mamas kitchen because it seemed like a nice family restaurant. The service was substandard. It seemed as tho they had never had a table that large..I felt like we threw them for a loop. We had an array of different things from the large menu and out of all 10 meals only 2 people enjoyed theirs. (Italian chicken sandwich and fettucini alfredo). Prices seemed a little high for the quality of food served. Also the fact they add 15% gratuity for a table of FIVE or more seemed crazy..a large table to me would be 8 or more. We probably would not be back :(

We were only staying Oscoda couple days so we didn't want to buy breakfast food for the morning. We thought it might be quaint to go to a local dive. Gosh. It was not good. If you must go to mamas kitchen for breakfast here some tips. Don't get an omelette. Biscuits are ok, but gravy awful. Hash browns were cold and not good. I would get a cup of coffee and some toast. Sorry. Kids had pancakes I tried a bite they were not great. Service slow but waitress nice.

I used to go here when I lived up north, and it was really a hit or miss. Honestly living in Oscoda year round doesn't give you many options. There only good meal is breakfast, besides that it's pretty gross.

I can't believe the reviews for this place have been so low! We have been there twice while staying in Oscoda for a week and half and it won't be our last time. Great specials every time we've been there with sides (mashed potatoes and the different soups have been our favorite). All other places have been a let down after eating here. The food and price cannot be beat!!

Deserves no stars really. I hope they read the reviews on here and do something to better their business quick before it closes down.

The lunatics are running the asylum. 11:00 am Sunday 7/31/11 Leaving town to go South, the 4 of us wanted to stop for breakfast in town. Fairly busy but they still had 6 or so empty booths- we sat ourselves after waiting at the door with no greeting . Waitress stopped by the table, looked at us, paused, and walked away without saying anything. She came back and took our drink order after 10 minutes of twiddling our thumbs. 4 cokes came back warm and flat. After our food was ordered, she came back with all new cokes with fizz (had ran out of co2- it happens). We waited for -NO EXAGGERATION- over an hour before someone finally said something about the time and that (we counted) 9 tables were waiting for food at the same time. looked up and noticed our waitress was working the register. Grandma went up and asked about the food and the waitress said it was coming right out. 10 more minutes go by, 15, 20, 25, 30. Left a fiver on the table for our pops that ran out an hour prior and left hungry. TOTAL TIME: 1 hour 45 minutes and no food, no "I'm sorry we have issues today" , no refill on drinks. Where is the Mgt in this place? 17 year olds running things???

Wife had spaghetti and meatballs. It was average. I had the veal parmigiana. It was good too. Both meal portions were more than enough. I was disappointed that they wouldn't substitute Alfredo sauce for the marinara on my pasta side. Would have been nice to mix it up a little seeing how the veal had marinara as well. Plus, it might have peaked my interest to come back and try the chicken Alfredo. I can't imagine it would cost that much more for a spoon full of one over the other. I would have paid a buck or two but was told I'd have to purchase an entire additional meal at something like $12. No thanks. Probably won't go back. Not due to the food but to the lack of accommodating a very simple request.
