Food was good when it finally got there. Waiter never checked back for drinks or asking how the food was. Very slow waiter and cold retried beans. I'm definitely crossing this place off my lists of places to go.

You know, I'm not sure what to say. Wasn't expecting much from a strip-mall Mexican joint but this place rocked my world. Great food, great service, great margs. World class - one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Super menu selection, atmosphere and attention. I am totally coming back when barreling through the area.

Fantastic! It's very hard to do Mexican food really well, and most establishments just end up being mediocre. The chicken quesadilla I had was well-seasoned and flavorful. The tortilla shell was perfectly crispy. Cancun's margaritas could have used a little less sugar and a little more alcohol, but they were still fine.

A great authentic Mexican restaurant. I'm not from the Lansing/Okemos area, but I come here enough to be able to enjoy such atmospheres. I had 2 soft shell tacos, which were awesome. The staff was kind, and very friendly. They brought out chips and salsa, which was also very good. We have a similar place back where I live, and this definitely rivals it in terms of good food, and authenticity. Come here if you can because you won't regret that decision at all!

Amazing. Authentic Mexican food. Reminds me of favorite restaurant in Stillwater Ok El Tapatio!! Must try!!

Cancun is the most amazing restaurant on the planet. I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant at this level of amazingness. Let's start with the margs. Fantastic. Just fantastic. They're really big and perfectly blended. The salsa is really fresh and is in constant supply. As for food. The IS special or the chimichanga are my go to. I cannot stress enough, the cheese sauce was created by God and transported to this small Mexican restaurant in mid Michigan, just to confirm that God is real. These feelings are not just my own. Every person I have told about Cancun feels the same views as myself. For your taste buds, souls and hearts sake, go to Cancun.

I have no idea how this place gets good reviews. Ordered the carne asada. It was tasted like bad round steak. The worst I have ever had. Service was decent.

Great place for lunch as the staff are great and the service is fast. Had the chimichanga with chicken which was delicious as it was not deep fried or doughy.

Awesome service. Awesome chips and salsa. Don't miss their corn tortillas - they are fresh made and soft and tasty.

Looking for a shredded beef wet burrito. No shredded beef, but the waiter did recommend the steak. I got the dinner with all beans no rice -- as it usually has red or green bell pepper in it and I'm allergic. Could have used a bit more "Gravy", but it was very good! Chips and salsa excellent -- chips were crisp and not hard. There was someone by my table at least every 5 minutes to make sure everything was fine! Excellent Service! I'd have given a 5 star rating IF they either had the shredded beef or there were more steak in my burrito - seemed a bit "skimpy".

Super fast service and fantastic food......if there was a way of giving them more stars I would!

Love this place!!! Amazing prices and they are also fast, friendly and clean! The fajitas are super tastes! Get the corn tortillas to go with them- huge upgrade from flour in my opinion :-) ... Beware of the margarita sizes- a large is HUGE!!! :-D

I was very impressed with the amount of food for the price. The service was on both the front and back of the house. The only thing I wasn't okay with was the fact that the plates were all chipped. Aside from that, I'd gladly come back again.

BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN AMERICA. Couldn't find a place that even comes close in Cali. So yes, I come back to EL when I visit Detroit once every 6 months just to eat here. That good. Get the chicken chimichanga.

Its a hit or miss every time. The service is poor. Anything with chicken is flavorless. love the salsa. I give it a one because my last experience was disappointing. The waitress got my order wrong. She never check up on us...only ask if we wanted our check.

Cancun used to be my favorite Mexican food place ever but I've watched as the standard of their food has fallen tremendously. Each time is more flavorless than the last, it's unbelievable really. Go elsewhere if you can, it's far from what it used to be

My life would be complete if Cancun would just go ahead and open up a location in Denver so I could eat the delicious food more than once or twice a year. They make the best chicken chimichanga I have ever had in my whole entire life - what is it, the cheese sauce? The crispy exterior? Whatever it is, it's perfection. I haven't eaten at a single Mexican restaurant (in California, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, etc) that can hold a candle to this place.

Large menu with the standard Americanized Mexican options. Quality can be above average but really can vary. Overall the combo prices are reasonable but some of menu is overpriced. Better than the similar Los Tres Amigos which is also in the area, but not as authentic as El Oasis or Pablo's in Lansing.

Stopped here on my way back to Dearborn Heights - this is my Lansing friends' fav Mexican place. And no wonder why! The selection of items is amazing! Almost to the point of being too many choices. We shared an onion cheese dip appetizer which was wonderful. I had the nachos - perfect!! Salsa was very good - pretty zippy that day for regular salsa. I will be back my next time in town. Good, good, good!!

The waitstaff isn't the most friendliest, but they have one of the tastiest dishes I have ever eaten! You must get the ISMAEL SPECIAL. It's strips of marinated chicken breast, shrimp and rice. I don't even like rice that much, but this is the BEST! It's smothered in mexican cheese and is so flavorful. The shrimp are soooo good! The portion size is huge! Don't get the half order though- get the full, so you can enjoy leftovers later!

We found our Mexican place! If you are looking for traditional, Americanized Mexican food (and in no way do I mean that as an insult)-- i.e. lots of queso and chimichangas-- this is the place for you. Good salsa. Good chips. Good queso dip. Can't wait to go back.

I love this place. The service has been fast every time I've been in no matter what time of day. The food is consistently good and full of flavor.

The food tastes very good. We started with queso fundido. This is my favorite Mexican appetizer. Here they include onions which I do not prefer, but it tasted pretty good even loaded with onions. I had a combination plate with an enchilada, a burrito and a taco. All three tasted very good. The portion is huge, especially once you consider the rice. The food is cheap. It is served quickly as well.

We stopped here before going to an Imax. Loved the chorizo, onion cheese dip. Food was good. Wait staff wasn't the best.

My favorite! The chips and salsa are amazing along with all the other food, the tacos, enchiladas and the other combos. So good! Prices and service are excellent and the location is easy to find. Lunch specials every day, portions are BIG and they always are ready to refill your drink or get you another basket of chips. As you can tell by the excellent reviews of this place- it's great!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
