I had the corn beef hash last time I came here. This was one of the best cbhash I have ever had. It's in my top 5 corn beef anything dishes. I will be back here again for sure.

Came for Sunday breakfast and got right in. This was our first time here, but the restaurant is very spacious so not much waiting. I had the loaded baked potato hash which was good. I got eggs over-easy, which were undercooked. Next time would order eggs differently and also never got refills for our drinks. Very well priced and quick and easy. Would return.

We go here for breakfast, pretty good food. Tastes good, special requests are done as wanted. Order the hash browns extra crispy, it's yummy. Belgium waffles are my sons favorite here. Very Friendly staff. Little noisy ambience. The menu is regular American breakfast, could add some special variety.

My husband and I stopped here after a huge night of drinking. This is your typical diner and it didn't disappoint. I was debating on breakfast or lunch food. My husband ordered the cubanito and I decided on the turkey Reuben. Be warned this place doesn't skim on cheese. I love the fact here that I could get fries or onion rings without an extra surcharge for the onion rings. Of course I decided on the onion rings and they were crispy with a nice batter.

The breakfast menu maintains it's strength, though, the quality of the scrambled eggs may have taken a bit of a tumble. We haven't been in some time, so it'll take another visit or so to confirm. This place used to have some of the best scrambled eggs. My daughter's omelet was well-done as she requested, and they substituted pancakes for hash browns with no fuss. My breakfast special was great all around, except for the aforementioned scrambled eggs which went from excellent to just good. It was a busy Saturday morning. The waitstaff was hustling, worked well as a team, and friendly.

I enjoyed my visit so much last week that we went there again on Saturday for lunch and Sunday for breakfast. I wasn't as impressed with the service on both visits, which was surprising because they were very friendly and attentive during our previous visit. I had the chicmayo sandwich (burrito) not my favorite thing. For $7 you can get the real deal at qdoba or chipolte for the same price, a lil bigger, and full of flavor. The salsa was the only flavor. The rice, beans and chicken were bland. I asked for cheese to be added and I think there was a sprinkle added to one half. It came with choice of fries, soup or onion rings. The onion rings were good. I ordered a bowl of bean and ham soup for my husband. He thought it was good- nice broth, plenty of beans and veggies. For breakfast, I ordered the baked potato hash again (consistency) and although it was good, there seemed to be less cheese, green onion and the bacon wasn't fully chopped. There were strips of bacon. Son had the pancakes/'bacon. The pancakes were good, but the bacon wasn't crisp. Have to remember to ask for crisp bacon. Still look forward to trying other items on the menu

Breakfast is good and you get alot for your money, but aftrr we ordered it took 53 minutes to get iur food, oon more than one occasion. They were not that busy so almost an hour for breakfadt is a little ridiculous. I have gotten a medium well steak at our favorite steak house faster than I received eggs, ham and tomato slices. My husband got eggs ham, pabcakes and applesauce so definitely not alnost an hour worth of cooking.

I'm stunned I haven't reviewed my favorite breakfast place yet! My wife and I are here nearly every weekend, and it's the first place we suggest to friends in town for the morning. They look like a typical family diner, but their breakfast is out of this world. Their omelettes deserve some caution - they are enormous. You may be used to ordering an omelette and pancakes wherever you frequent - that would be a mistake here. Their ingredients aren't just the typical diner fare - I love the green eggs (pesto) and ham omelette wrap, while my wife is a huge fan of their salmon benedict. We've made it a tradition to come with some friends, who usually order this meal with pancakes, cinnamon crumbles and cheesecake filling ... it's ridiculous and awesome. The first time I had their chicken and waffles, I thought the chicken was a little skimpy, but the next time they more than made up for it. Breakfast, in general, is stunningly inexpensive for the size of your meal. What I love most about it is that the hustling servers are like our family and are happy to join in on our verbal shenanigans, which makes it feel like home to us. We've got plans to move away from the area this summer, and one of our biggest regrets will be missing out on this tradition.

Pretty unassuming little restaurant in a stripmall, right? Wrong. I've had this place on my radar for a while, because breakfast. That's a totally legitimate reason if you were to understand my love for this meal. My husband ordered a pretty plain plate of hashbrowns, over mediums and a bunch of meat with a side of raisin toast. Woah, didn't see that coming? Me neither. Who even has raisin toast on their menu! My stepdaughter ordered a country style omelet smothered in homemade sausage gravy, which she enjoyed. The omelet was massive, and she is not, so most went home boxed. I had a tough time deciding, this is serious business and all. Banana granola pancakes? Greek skillet minus gyro? Caprese style eggs benedict.. poached eggs on a toasted English muffin with a fresh slice of tomato, fresh mozzarella and a basil pesto Hollandaise. Why yes, I'd like that please. And liking it, I did. Very much. I love finding an interesting, different than the norm, menu. It is an unexpected gift which doesn't happen often. Cassel's represents breakfast with a twist, as well as with traditional breakfast fare but most importantly, they do both really well.

I've been here on a couple of occasions. I was not particularly impressed either time. The portion sizes are good and prices are reasonable, but the food itself is average at best. To me, the food is the primary attraction at any restaurant. I'll probably give them one more try, but this place certainly isn't somewhere I would go out of my way to visit.

I'm not really sure what I was expecting when we stopped in one morning for breakfast. I imagine I had no to low expectations for this diner in a strip mall in the middle of nowhere. However, looks and prejudicial opinions aside, this place serves a SOLID breakfast. And they're fast and friendly, which you can't beat in the morning when you've had no caffeine. We've been in here about three times now and have never had anything bad. The first time, I ordered the strawberry cheesecake pancakes. I recommend that you order a half order if you're not super hungry because the half order is huge. A heap of cheesecake filling between two pancakes topped with strawberries and graham cracker crumbs? Unless you're not a big "sweets" person for breakfast, there's no way you could go wrong. The second time, it was just a simple belgian waffle. There's nothing to the plain waffle - crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I couldn't really tell if it was made from a storebought batter but it was still decent. The third time, I had the loaded baked potato hash with two eggs your way. I ordered the eggs poached and a biscuit on the side. The eggs were perfectly poached...PERFECT. The biscuit was light and fluffy...I don't THINK it was made on site but it was pretty good. The hash was wonderful: crispy browns, a TON of bacon and cheese...again you can't really go wrong. So they have some menu items that are "slightly" off the beaten path but for the most part, it's probably not going to blow anyone away on the creativity front. But like I said above, it's SOLID and FAST. Fast in a way that makes me think that there's some sort of magic going on in that kitchen. Highly recommended.

This place has a wide selection of breakfast fav's and a large dining room. We came here with 3 and all enjoyed our breakfast. But the unmemorable location and the lack of imagination on the menu (we like funky stuff like english muffin bread) gives it 3 stars in my opinion. Having said that, I think the average American would give the food a solid 4 stars.

A very nice local restaurant. It is very important to support small businesses. Too many little businesses are being wiped out by chains with no character. Cassel's has an extensive menu which anyone can find something good. Every dish I have had there was quite enjoyable. Give them a shot.

I wasn't really expecting much seeing this diner in a strip mall, but I was pleasantly surprised! Delicious breakfast! Service there was extremely fast. I think we waited about 10 minutes for our food. If you have the choice between the toast and the biscuits, get the biscuits! They are so fluffy and good! The decor is nothing special... just your typical diner. The waitress wasn't really that friendly, but the food was so good we overlooked that.

Love it! My church group meet here every Sunday. Great food; excellent service; reasonably priced. They give good portions of food. Nothing fancy -- just plain good.

I am extremely disappointed with the management of this so called restaurant. They made a family leave before they were done with there meal. Saying there daughter she was disturbing the other customers. There child was a special needs child child! I was one of the other customers and this child was NOT disturbing me. To me they discriminated against a child. I am sorry for the people who could not let a family have a dinner out out with there special child. I will never go there again. And if you believe like I believe that people with special needs and other social issues, do not need to be kept hidden away from the real world. You will never visit this restaurant or other places that treat people this way!!!

Let me start by saying I'm a huge critic when it comes to cleanliness, promptness, great food and great service. This place is top notch on all accounts. I will admit I have only gone there for breakfast (many times) but it's always great! We've actually turned 2 other couples on to it and run in to them on Sundays. Just remember people, it's a diner. It's not gourmet and it's not five stars. You will get more than what you pay for and never leave hungry. Just please don't go there on a Sunday around 10am because I want to be able to get a table!

They are very nice here and the portions are huge! I got a salad that was truely the size of a dinner plate with tons of toppings. Yum.

While near Plymouth/Northville, I looked around for some restaurants in the area and found Cassel's. It had decent ratings and seemed pretty cheap, so I went. I got a Weekly Special, which was a Bacon and Bleu Pattymelt. I opted to get fries with it, and also got a cup of their chili. The chili was pretty good and had a nice spice to it, but it tasted somewhat earthy, like the vegetables or something weren't cleaned properly. Regardless of that, it was a decent. The pattymelt was good, but could have used a little more bacon. The fries were tasty -- I'm not sure what made them taste the way they did, but they were sort of unique for french fries. The restaurant's clean (although there were flies buzzing around, and it's December. Eek.), looks pretty nice, and it's inexpensive. Just beware of the menu -- it's about six pages long.

Consistently good place for breakfast. Fast service. good food and cheap prices. If I am in the area and looking for breakfast, Cassel's usually rises to the top of my list. It's not fancy-just a local spot in a small strip mall, and the ambiance is simple but welcoming. If you go on a Sunday, know that it is busy early, but that it gets easier to find a table after 10am. I got there at 9:30 and was immediately seated in a booth . . .nice! My server was pleasant and quick. My coffee cup was never empty and the ham and tomato omelet was huge, served with great wheat toast and hash browns or more tomatoes. The only disappointment was the flavor of the bacon. It really wasn't good and usually anything with the "essence of bacon" gets high stars in my book. Breakfast for one ran about $10.50 and I had plenty of leftovers to take home. A perfect way to start my day.

I have been going to Cassel's for 20 years, from the time when it was called Cindy's Coney Island. Cassel's has come a long way since its coney days. While coney dogs are no longer on the menu, they serve great homemade food with a hint of class. For breakfast, I would recommend the loaded baked potato hash, biscuits and gravy (the best I've ever had), and buckwheat pancakes. For lunch and dinner, I would recommend any of their sandwiches, especially the cubinito (pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce) and Reuben. Their house made soups are to die for - red pepper bisque being my favorite, which is served every Friday. If you go early on Saturday or Sunday, expect to wait a few minutes, as it's no secret this is one of the best local breakfast places.

I love this place. Best omelets in the world...And they'll make 'em however you want. I've created an omelet I call the "Ron Swanson", consisting of a double side order of bacon draped gently over a gorgeous mound of perfectly cooked egg mixed with sausage, cheese, and more bacon. We try to go here at least once a week to get our "breakfast for lunch". The wait staff is my favorite out of any restaurant around, too. I always get breakfast food when I come in, but everyone we bring from work always says the food is amazing no matter what they get. Don't be afraid to try this local diner out, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Good service, ok food. My girlfriend had the you-choose-breakfast combo ($4.99!) which included 2 eggs, french toast, hash browns and sausage. The eggs and sausage were pretty standard, nothing fantastic. The french toast was a bit disappointing. 2 thin, half slices is nothing to cheer about. She did get a ton of hash browns but a good portion of it was oily with not enough brown. I had the chicken salad ($8.99) which was ginormous. It had a hearty servings of fried chicken, fried jalapenos and a side of pita. It was good but nothing out of the ordinary, except for the size.

Cassels Family Restaurant is less than a mile from where we live, so we frequent it often, both for breakfast and dinner. Over the years, we've turned on several family members and friends to this gem, tucked away in an old strip mall at 7 Mile just east of Northville. For me the term "family restaurant" conjures up dingy, past-their-prime restaurants with cheap food and indifferent service. Cassels is nothing like this. Despite it's locale, you are greeted with a cheery, up-to-date interior lined with art by local artists. And the menu is equally up-to-date. Dinner selections include housemade soups (try the chili!), fresh salads, sandwiches, and imaginative entrees (like boubon glazed pork chops). Breakfast selections are equally varied and inventive. They range from your typical egg specials (a deal at $3.99) to potato or low-fat granola pancakes, to a variety of wraps, and more. Equally important, the coffee is good and waitresses are quick with refills. Writing this review has made me very hungry; I think I'm going to head to Cassels for dinner right now!

Oh my gosh! So good. Went for breakfast on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the area. The service was great, the restaurant clean and inviting and the food was great so was the price! I had the florentine benedict and highly recommend it! The side of hashbrowns were done to perfection! It's too bad it's tucked in the strip mall in what is probably not a very high traffic area. I bet a lot of folks are missing this place.

I've always wanted to have that one "go to" Diner where we always have the same booth every time we go there like on Seinfeld. Cassel's is that place for us on the West Side. Every time we go we are always fortunate to get the same booth each and every time. It's somewhat special in a "that's what you deem special?" kind of way. We used to live just a few minutes away and would eat there at least once a week and then we moved a bit farther away, but still made an effort to get there as often as possible. Sadly we are buying our first house and it is out in Fraser so it will be a bit of a hike to get to Caseel's and we will have to find someplace equivalent by our new place. Well let me take that back before my wife slaps me upside the head. Sadly as in moving so far away from our favorite Diner, not about buying our first home. Yahoo for buying a home and being an adult! Friday's is when I like to go there the most as their soup of the day is Red Pepper Bisque. The best word to describe it is AH-MAY-ZING! It is hard to limit myself to just a cup, but I know if I eat my fill of it I won't have room for their yummy entrees. I have tired just about everything on the menu there from Breakfast to Dinner Special and it is all good. My favorite there is probably their Chicken Strips which are so moist and juicy that you do not even need dipping sauce. Chicken Strips you say? Hey people, they aren't just for kids even though I am still a kid at heart. Though they don't really require any sauces, I still partake in a dip or two as their Honey Mustard and Adobo Ranch are money in the words of Triple D's Guy Fieri. What sets them apart from all the rest is they are 100% homemade. Most places like to use the frozen junk you just toss in a fryer and serve up, but you can tell that Cassell's takes the time to cut up their chicken themselves and instead of just your everyday ordinary breadcrumbs they dip them in a batter that is similar to what you would see used in a high quality Fish and Chips platter. The service is always above and behind. We have never had bad service or service that was just okay for that matter. I never have to ask for a refill on my drink, it is always there right as I finish the previous one and they are always friendly and remember us and ask how things are with our lives. It is a very warm and inviting atmosphere. This place is the true definition of a "Finer Diner" and if you live in the area or passing through, stop in there and grab a bite to eat. You won't be disappointed. Just don't sit in the first booth to the left. THAT'S MINE!

I read all the great reviews and even looked at the menu on-line before deciding to take the family. Sadly,t did not live up to expectations. We went on a Sunday around 1:00pm. Our waitress was great. Very friendly and efficient. Menu items looked okay. Both my husband and son wanted the grilled tilapia. Unfortunately, the do not serve their dinner items on Sunday, since they close at 3. What???? So we ordered off the lunch and breakfast menu. The Apple Orchard Salad was listed as "mixed greens" but was mostly iceberg lettuce cores with about 4 leaves of romaine and leaf lettuce thrown in. The walnuts had shell pieces mixed in. The Garbage Burger was so messy that it had to be cut into pieces and it tasted like it was a frozen patty, not fresh beef. The Caprese Benedict was literally swimming in an under-seasoned Hollendaise sauce. I'm sure many diners like this kind of food, but it's not to our taste. Cleanliness and atmosphere were questionable. Even though it was over an hour until closing, the staff was breaking down the MIDDLE of the restaurant, putting chairs on the tables and closing it off. Not a great impression. I wish they had spent their time cleaning the bathrooms, which had papers strewn all over and a sink coming off the wall and/or the food smears on the walls over the booths. Too bad - we had hoped to find another place to dine in, but this isn't it.

Went with a sizable group of 7 the day after Christmas. The decor is spartan but clean. Nothing fancy but we got some really good chow and friendly service all for the right price. Star of the table was the veggie hash but everyone was quite satisfied.

Do you want an amazing breakfast? I recommend Cassel's. It kind of throws you off when you pull in because it's in the middle of a fairly empty strip plaza. Don't let that discourage you. I'm addicted to their veggie hash!! Eggs, toast, and hashbrowns amped up with tons of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and melted cheese on top. The service is great, and you'll never have an empty coffee cup. I've had lunch there a couple times, but I'd rather go for their huge breakfast portions. Yum yum yum!!!!

Doesn't disappoint. Varied menu, reasonable prices, and they give you a TON of fries. The wait staff is prompt and polite, and there are some nice senior discounts my parents take advantage of. This place has been here for ages, I remember coming here in the early 90's as a young lad. Not much has changed. The prime family restaurant in Northville if you want to avoid the yuppies (Not easy around here).

Had a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Turkey and gravy were flavorful, obviously made onsite. But the mashed potatoes really lacked flavor as if missing butter and/or milk. The Greek salad dressing was particularly good...best I've ever had. Two of us ate for under $20 and we both left comfortably full.

Update: I didn't rave about this place enough. I've been back there several times and I have to say I love the food. It's home-made and distinctive. The soups are not to be missed. Original: Gotta agree with what's been written here. You will blink and miss Cassel's as you whip past this old strip mall in a tucked away corner of Northville and nothing about the exterior prepares you for the experience inside. Cassel's is a good, old-style family restaurant that simply makes good food. Reminds me of some of the places I used to get taken to as a kid, the kind of place that relies on a steady clientele of regulars. Become one! Great little place.
