I ordered pulled pork platter, my companion had rib tips. The meats were delicious, and well smoked yet moist. We sampled all the sauces - each was different and tasty, clearly homemade. We liked the bourbon sauce with the rib tips and the Carolina vinegar sauce with the pulled pork. The sides were just edible. Green bean salad so cold the oil in the dressing was congealed bits (this might be the fault of health inspection requirements) and the tomatoes were tasteless. BBQ beans were nicely spicy but included waaayyy too much green pepper in a very soupy vinegary tomato-ey sauce, did not seem to have ever been "baked". Interestingly, the sauce was better on the pulled pork than on the beans! Coleslaw was fresh, crunchy, and good though - no sign of the vinegar mentioned on the menu and in other reviews. The cornbread was large, crumbly, and somewhat sweet. I ate it for dessert, it would be a very good breakfast coffeecake too. They have the usual problem with drinks only from Coke, as I must avoid both caffeine and citrus. Would have loved gingerale, but Coke distributors don't usually provide it. I later discovered there is iced tea, but no one mentioned it when we ordered at the window.

Outstanding ! Burnt ends "Squeezer" sandwich Pulled pork... Fast and reasonable! Get there early cause they sell out!

The "burnt ends", available only on the weekends, are the best barbecue I've ever had. The spicy baked beans are excellent too.

Driving through from New Jersey on our way to Chicago for a fishing trip. My father, two brothers, and myself stopped for lunch. We were the only patrons at the restaurant. Extremely fast service. All three of the guys had the pulled pork sandwich. Pop says it's the "best he ever had." Other adjectives were "awesome" and "delicious." They had a great selection of Bbq sauces and even homemade mustard. I had the roast half chicken with beans and a side salad. Beans were good, side salad was large and full of veggies. Cornbread was on point with honey and butter. Bbq were so so, red beans and rice was a bit watery, but overall very satisfied. Lots of food, all for a good price. You want Bbq, drive the extra few miles off the highway and stop here.

Really good bbq. Really fast. How ironic is that. I had the brisket sandwich and my wife had pulled pork sandwich. Both awesome. Adequate amount of seating. And prices are pretty good too. Don't forget a slice of cornbread for a buck. It'll be the best dollar you spend that day for sure. You order at one window and pick it up at another in the restaurant. I barely made it to the other window before our order was up.

We stopped here for a late lunch over Memorial Day weekend when we were in Northern Indiana. My husband first heard of the place because he and the owner both brew their own beer and are on a discussion group or forum together. Home brewers are, by nature, good judges of quality food so it seemed to follow that one who owned a restaurant would own a damn good restaurant. And it's true. Yay, logic! I had the brisket sandwich, which was served on a freshly toasted bun, and it was heavenly. Probably the best brisket I've had in ages. I had the mac and cheese as a side, and it was excellent -- creamy, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. All of this made me sad that the reason we were nearby was because we were moving out of our house in Indiana so this won't be a place we get back too often. Which means other people should go. Because we can't.

World-class BBQ. I have gorged on BBQ all across the country & The Prized Pig easily stands (pork) shoulder-to-shoulder with the "big boys". The brisket was smoky, flavorful & tender with a respectable smoke ring & a generous bark. Eat an order there and then take one home to enjoy later when you start realizing how good it was the first time. The burnt ends were a thing of beauty...chewy, sweet, smoky & salty morsels of American goodness....this must be what freedom tastes like. The sides (usually a throw-away) were excellent...the baked beans were the most unique & flavorful I have ever had. Don't forget to get some slaw too, a crunchy & creamy counter-point to the rich meats. Finally, the BBQ sauces were incredible. Especially of note are the bourbon & the spicy sauces...not just great on the meat, they would make for a great main course! I could literally drink these right out of the bottle (I didn't, so don't get grossed out). Overall, The Prized Pig was worth the 130 mile drive and I am currently wishing they would open a location next-door to my house! Truly an outstanding example of the finest type of cooking on the planet. Go there now.

Had lunch yesterday w a friend. I got the brisket, cole slaw, mac&cheese and it comes w a large piece of cornbread. With a drink (1 size option), my order total was $19. My friend got the half chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, cornbread and a drink for about $10. I realize brisket is a higher cost but I did find $19 to be quite excessive in cost. My friend and I shared everything to get to try a little of everything. The brisket had good flavor. However 1 piece was a little dry. I was still happy w it. The chicken was moist and tender. VVERY good. The coleslaw had a vinegar bite to it. I liked it but if you don't like vinegar, you will want to steer clear. The mac and cheese had great flavor but I only are a few bites becaue of how greasy it was. I know they add bacon to it. So maybe that's why? But it was pretty greasy. The potato salad had no flavor. It looked delicious but just tasted like potatoes tossed in mayo. The cornbread was to die for. Moist and crumbly. Def their killer surprise. They had 4 sauces. Original (which I found bland), Spicy (not spicy at all but good flavor), Carolina Vinegar (not bad but all I tasted was vinegar) and a mustard (which I found bland). I like how they serve the meat "dry" and you choose the sauce that suits you. All in all, the workers was VERY friendly. The location is cute and clean. I would go back but prob just to get the meat to go. I just wasn't overly impressed w their sides. Def worth checking out!

Excellent BBQ. ...smoky flavor, tender pork and great sides. Get there early before they run out of your favorite.

Best BBQ I've had in the area... that includes Chicago. I've been 3 times. Had the burnt ends twice - the first time they were so juicy / fatty / delicious / perfect / oh my lord. The second time ... a little overdone. I've had the brisket, hot link, pulled pork ... all delish. I love the sauces on the side, particularly the bourbon one. This is a 4.5 star joint but I'm rounding it up to 5. Next time I have the burnt ends, I hope they're as perfect as the first time I had them. I'm really happy to see a place like this in the area - a shack serving top notch BBQ. I'll be back - and frequently return.

Best bbq in the Michiana area, not always the fastest and not much service but the food is so delicious you don't care

Great place. Usually get the pulled pork sandwich. They pack a lot of pork on it! I like that you get to choose and add your own sauce. The mac and cheese is good but there is sometimes a lot of grease involved. I usually go with the potato salad which is nothing to right home about but does the job. Everything comes on a paper lined tray instead of dishes and they put fresh dill pickles slices on the side.

Having spent a fair amount of time in Texas, I would put this place up against almost any lone star state BBQ joint! The meat is perfectly prepared and the sides are very tasty and appear to be homemade. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Two things to keep in mind... 1. The seating is limited (no doubt due to the fact that the majority of their business is for take-out service) so be patient or arrive ahead of normal dining hours. 2. Always come in or order your take out early, the food is so good they always run out of the best meats first! Note: the beef brisket usually runs out first. Overall, this little restaurant offers food with big flavor!

Been there three times, and read all the reviews, Here is a quick grade of what I have had so far: Staff: B+ Friendly but somehow they get confused with orders Facility: C not much to look at but I go for the food not the tables/chairs Rib Tips: B Wish They had more smoke, bit fatty, not a lot of meat Brisket: A+ Best Ive had, great rendering of fat throughout Ribs: B- One rack was dry and overcooked, one was good, good flavor though Macaroni: B+ Some times it has bacon, sometimes it doesn't. When it does = A+++ Cornbread: A+ AMAZING!!!! Best thing Ive had and consistent Beans: D Just ok, review after review says the same, odd flavor, not worth it Coleslaw C- Once again, just ok, not much sauce or flavor, just a filler side BBQ Sauces: A Spicy, regular or Carolina are all great sauces

A wonderful change of taste for this area! Their menu is authentic, and their food is life changing for someone who didn't grow up in the south. By far my favorite BBQ restaurant in the Midwest.

Very well done barbecue. sauce on the side. tasty sides. Seems to be fair portions for the price mostly. I will go back with friends. 1 of the best simple barbeque joints in the area. Try and you'll see why

I LOVE BBQ, but it is so hard to find a BBQ place in this area that is good. The Prized Pig is the best I have ever had. I gladly make the 40 minute drive from South Bend, Indiana almost every weekend to sit down and enjoy their food. I have had almost everything on the menu. The pulled pork is my favorite; juicy and tender. I have had the ribs once where the meat slid of the bone it was THAT tender. My boyfriend says they have the best brisket ever, but he always gets the burnt ends whenever he is lucky enough to get them before they sell out. The cornbread is delicious, the mac and cheese is unique and so good. I could come in and just eat a bowl of that! All of the sauces are good. And if that is not enough... the homemade pickles are awesome. I don't like pickles, but I eat every one on my plate at the prized pig. Way better than the stuff you buy in the store! The establishment is super clean and inviting. The staff is very friendly, and the owner is great and, clearly, very passionate about what he does. I cannot get enough of this place, and I would recommend and encourage anybody to give it a shot. They will not be disappointed! Thank you, prized pig, for giving us such deliciousness. :)

The brisket is their best item. The Crist flavor is very good. The pulled pork is very good too. Their sides are not all that good to compliment the level of these two main items. Beans have little flavor and mac n cheese is not bad. Cornbread is decent too. Here's the main problem. At payment they ask you for a tip in person at time of order. The pressure to tip someone is very out of line. This a rude move and sours tour experience. You bus your own table and pick up your own food. What are we tipping for? Ridiculous.

We are moving into the area and I found this BBQ joint while researching local restaurants. We were in town yesterday to get the move rolling, and decided to stop in for dinner. We were still on Chicago time so we got there not long before they were closing. They were out of everything but chicken (I expected they'd probably be out of things since it was so late in the day), so my husband and I both got chicken sandwiches; slaw for him, mac and cheese for me. We also got an order of jalapeno poppers. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our meals came out with a bit of sausage and a wing, as well as pickles. Such a nice, generous touch! The owner also comped us some of the amazing cornbread. Seriously nice people, and tasty food that was cooked to perfection. We also bought three smoked half chickens so my family here in Chicago can enjoy as well. It was an awesome 'welcome to town' for us -- we are really looking forward to trying everything on the menu once we're moved in for good!

This place is great. My wife and I go to New Buffalo/Union Pier once a year to celebrate our anniversary. Since I am a competitive BBQer, I am always looking to support small/local BBQ places and we decided to take a quick detour and stop here for lunch. Wow, I am glad we did! My wife had the ribs platter with coleslaw and mac and cheese as her sides. All were stellar. The ribs were spot on tender, not over sauced and had a great flavor profile. Mac and cheese - nothing wrong there at all! Creamy, tasty and great texture contrast with the bread crumbs on top. We even found some pieces of bacon in the bottom of the cup - bonus! The coleslaw was awesome, too. I had the brisket platter with beans and coleslaw. Man, that brisket is some of the best I have ever had. Again, tenderness is spot on, and a great smoked beef taste. That bark, though - holy cow. The brisket is worth ordering just to experience that bark! A+. Both of our orders also came with cornbread and pickles. The cornbread is moist and delicious - I tried to make it last to be my dessert! The pickles, too, are a great little addition to the meal - the ideal pickel. Honestly, there is not a thing I would change here. This is a great bbq restaurant where you can tell the owner really cares about the quality of his food. Everything is made in house and he even came out to chat with us for a little while as we were finishing up our meal. I highly recommend it. Beware - they sell out of some things, so go early or call ahead. Nice job!

Tried this place out bc I was in the mood for ribs and saw some good reviews. Decor and outside of restaurant looks like a hole in the wall plus the directions on yelp was erroneous. Place is on corner of bell road and sr 12 in niles, not the address given which takes you to edwardsburg. Anyway, the food was pretty good. Got the half rack ribs, coleslaw, potato salad and corn bread. Ribs were decent, cole slaw was not ver good, potato salad was decent but the corn bread was amazing. My wife got the pulled pork and baked beans. And she loved the pulled pork but didn't care much for the baked beans. I like the baked beans, it had a little spicy BBQ kick to it which was different. Overall, this place was decent. I would return as a carry out only but would not recommend dinning in especially if you have kids.

My fiance and I came here for dinner with his Uncle...The restaurant here is very small....literally if you blink you'll miss it. The chalk board menu outside had a nice touch...he's from Indiana. I'm surprised he's never been her before. I wonder if the Food Network has stopped by here? They need to!! This place is a hidden gem. I really wanted to order more food.....for later of course. Word of advice.....Get the Smoked Brisket!!!! It will change your life! Seriously...and the complementary sauces at each table....no need. I'm always hesitant to try bbq, you never know what your going to get. Also the corn bread is amazing and sweet!!!! Normally i hate corn bread but this was OOUT OF THIS WORLD.....The greenbean salad was okay, had a frozen taste. Thank to Prized Pig

We came here based on the load of good Yelp reviews. I had the St Louis ribs with mac & cheese and baked beans. Maria had the riblettes with rice and beans. We were here at about 4 pm on a Friday and there was a constant stream of people picking up to go orders. To me the ribs were a little on the fatty side and the serving size was on the small size. The sauces, which are available on the side, were good but nothing special. The cornbread was excellent as were my side dishes. Maria said her meal was excellent.

I'm a full time pork producer and lover of great food. So I know great meat when I eat it. The beef brisket is what I usually have its so flavorful, juicy, and tender its to die for best I've EVER had ! Pork barbecue and ribs are good. Haven't had the burnt ends yet but heard they are great . The sides you get are ok not great. The place is small but clean . So give it a try !

Ive tried almost everything on the menu and you literally can't go wrong. This is a local gem. The brisket is the closest I've come to seeing heaven.

  • Blake R.

The BBQ sauce itself was decent, nothing special. But the pulled pork was really tender, with a great texture to the bark. And the sides blew me away. The potato salad and the macaroni were both unique and delicious. Even the two pickle slices, which I initially overlooked, were surprisingly great, with a nice spice to them.

  • Julie S.

It's average, I was hoping to have that wow affect. Nope not today. I didn't care for the sides, I had bbq beans and potatoe salad. There was no real smoked taste too the meat.

After about 7 trips here so far I am finally writing a review. Our whole family loves to meet and eat here. Walking in you get right to business, ordering begins at a small window just inside the door. The potion sizes are large you may take some with you. I personally like the Brisket and burnt ends as do my son and my father as well. The brisket platter is tender and tasty it comes with (3) slices of meat (2) sides and cornbread. The pulled pork is very good as is the sausage. I am not a rib eater so I can't chime in on that. The sides are very good and I always get the beans. They have multiple sauces at each table to choose from I like the vinegar style the most but they all seem good. Go early as they run out later in the day it's worth the trip.

I have lived and traveled "Down South" for a few years, I also lived in Chicago for 10. I LIKE and KNOW a little about Bar-B-Que. This is the fifth or sixth time I've eaten at The Prized Pig, it's time I write a review. The short review: for a place like Niles, MI, The Prized Pig is a welcome addition and a good restaurant. If this were the West Coast of Florida, I would never eat here. First, the atmosphere is DREK!!! They always have someone different working the counter (high employee turnover rate) and if you pay by card you are required to respond to one of those OBNOXIOUS TIP-BEGGING screens on the point-of-purchase machine. And right next to that is a HUGE gallon-sized, glass jug with the word "TIPS!" written in large, demanding text. Very bad form and déclassé! O.K., I KNOW this is a rib joint- but, begging for tips is never cool! The deadpan "personalities" of the employees do nothing to liven-up this dull, dreary little place and it completely lacks any warmth or friendliness. The food: I 've had mixed experiences here. I've eaten the pulled pork sammich several times and a couple of those times there were hunks/chunks of fat/gristle in the meat. I don't expect/accept this in a pulled pork sammich that costs $6.49 (sammich only). Their BBQ beans are TOO vinegary! The Mac and Cheese is REALLY GREAZEY!- like a puddle of oil left in the bottom of the Styrofoam container after the Mac is gone. Today the girl at the order window suggested gumbo as I was choosing my 2 side dishes. I LIKE gumbo! But, this gumbo was bland and flavorless. I suspect the spicy zest, usual to gumbo, has been dumbed-down for the proletariat/redneck/AARP audience in the Niles, MI market. I did get the half-rack of St. Louis ribs today, and they were good. Tender enough, not the MOST tender ribs I've ever had, but I was able to pull the bones apart and the meat was tasty. Nice and lean with a LOT of meat on the bones! They have a huge T.V. in the dining room, which is fine, I like T.V., but it is almost always on some spawts-moron channel like ESPN. Today it was tuned to WSBT's all weather-all-the-time 22.3, which was fine, but I noticed a simple T.V. antenna in the window next to the T.V. indicating to me they maybe got rid of their cable service as a cost cutting measure- a sign things may not be going very well financially, perhaps? As I said, for Niles MI, where there are very few choices for ribs (or ANY kind of unique food!) The Prized Pig is a welcome addition. But, if I had a few other choices like I did in Florida, I would never eat here.

We love The Prized Pig! I recommend getting meat takeout and then doing sides at home. The brisket and ribs are top notch, but while the pulled pork is passable, it's just not at the level of TPP's other porky wonderfulness. The sauce is good too, although I think they could spice it up a bit. As for the sides, this place doesn't have fries, and the baked beans are just average (seem to be basic canned). The potato salad is dependably picnic-worthy and the Mac and cheese, although I haven't tried it, seems to be a big hit. The best bbq in the area is over at Northside BBQ in LaPorte, but for something local and easy, TPP is great. Make sure you go early since they sometimes run out of ribs or brisket (I think it's telling that they always have pulled pork left). Another tip is to get a restaurant.com certificate. TPP is on there regularly, so you can pay $4 for a $10 certificate and get two dinners for less than $20.

Quality BBQ is hard to find and I have stopped looking after a few trips to the Prized Pig. Amazing doesn't do enough to describe the selection, the quality and the perfect execution. My first time there, we went at a funky time and they were out of some things which for me is a good sign, they don't just have stacks and stacks of precooked meat in the back or defrost some premade stuff when they run out. I tried the Squealer which is a pull pork sandwich topped with their coleslaw. Perfection. Tender. Juicy. The bread they are are using is perfect. I also got the Mac and cheese and while it wasn't bad, I wouldn't get it again and I would save that room for more meat. The second time I went I wanted to try something else. We went on a weekend and after being offered a sample of the Burnt Ends, I knew I needed a whole order. Melt in your mouth meaty beefy goodness. This time I got the potato salad and coleslaw. Both were wonderful. I put some of the spicy BBQ sauce on my potato salad and it was amazing. If I could, I'd be there every weekend. The food is amazing, the staff is pleasant and knowledgable and experience can't be best in the area. If you like BBQ, go here. If you don't know if you like BBQ, the Prized Pig will make you a believe in all things BBQ. The sweet tea is pretty good as well. Try it and you'll fall in love.

The ribs were a dry rub style and were some of the best I had ever had definitely a 5. I would give the Mac & Cheese a 4. The baked beans were not that great, and I gave them a 1. Next time I may try the Squealer.

Excellent meat! Brisket, riblets, pulled pork were all scrumptious. Casual dining for barbeque is smart. I'll come back.

Incredible BBQ! I'm originally from Georgia and this is easily the best BBQ I've had here in the north, let alone this area. Try the rib tips!

Great little spot for BBQ. Had the brisket platter that was pretty good and the sides were also very good (cornbread, Mac n cheese and potato salad). Their BBQ comes dry with several sauces on the tables. Love the spicy on meat and mustard sauce on the potato salad. Will definitely be back for the tips which the couple behind us was raving about. Looked meaty too.

I was blown away by the level and variety of BBQ at the Prized Pig. From pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, sausage and ribs, they have it all! I've travelled all over the United States visiting landmark BBQ restaurants and can honestly say that this BBQ holds its own with anyone of those. Today, I ate the Beef brisket. It was perfectly smoked with a gorgeous smoke ring and was seasoned to perfection. I was served slices from the point and found each bite to be "melt in your mouth" quality. From what I hear, certain items will sell out early. Not to worry....there are several different BBQ items on the menu. You will not be disappointed! If you live in the Michiana Area you HAVE to visit this BBQ joint! The only downside is that they are only open from Wednesday-Sunday.

Would like to leave a good review. But when the restaurant is not open during their published business hours it's difficult! I drove quite a distance out of my way to visit on Thursday 11/20 at 3:00 pm. To my surprise they were closed! My suggestion for any one trying to visit the restaurant "Call First".

  • Tisha M.

Great, great food! Get there early because they sell out of some items. I love the homemade Mac n cheese , cornbread , and baked beans. You order at the counter window, and I don't like the iPad credit card check out system that asks every customer if they want to leave a tip (as the girl holds the iPad for you). But hey, the food is excellent! We do a lot of takeout. The seating seems limited & the decor is almost nonexistent .

  • Marjorie D.

I liked the meat until I tasted the smoked meat at another place here in Niles. I do like the side dishes... but I want at least a plate to eat my food on, not a sheet of paper on a tray. Others may find it "charmng" or 'rustic".... but I just don't. AND I like my bbq to be a lot more tender and without so much fat. p.s. they have a tv , something else I don't care for when I'm eating. I want to focus on my food, the tastes, not what's on TV.

I went to the prized Pig for a second time today. Ordered a pulled pork platter. It was the worst dark meat pork I have ever seen. The owner cook did note even try to blend the meat with white and dark. This is truly a hit and miss meal.

I was in the area so decided to stop by based on a friend's recommendation. I travel a lot and visit BBQ spots all over, including Kansas City and Austin. The Prized Pig was pretty good. Not Smitty's / Franklin good, but very Michiana good. I decided to carry out and ordered the brisket with mac & cheese and cole slaw. (The ribs were still an hour away from being available - at 3PM.) All was good. The brisket had some nice fat, but was still a tad dry. The mac & cheese was very good and the cole slaw was unique but very good as well. I tried their Bourbon BBQ Sauce. It had a nice little back bite to it. I'll definitely be back to try the ribs.

You would probably have to drive to Detroit or Chicago to find a better BBQ. Great place with fantastic food, sides, sauces, and especially......the apple sauce. Epic apple sauce.

Being from the Carolinas we have been looking for a good BBQ place to remind us of home. This place hit the spot! Prices were appropriate, portions were good and sauces were tasty. Brisket was tender and flavorful and the Mac and Cheese was was a hit. Will definitely come again!

Awesome BBQ! The brisket was amazing, we will be going back. The sides were nothing great but the meat was worth it. Tried to get brisket to go and had sold out in the half hour we were there.

How have i not reviewed this place yet!? Been here many times. Two words BURNT ENDS.....The kicker is you can only get them on the weekend. They have sold out within the first hour so make sure your on time. Everything is delicious from the meats to the sides. I hated cornbread before this place but now im a believer. Also the mac and cheese is literally the best i have ever had. Has bacon and panko bread crumbs for crunch how can you go wrong? DO NOT miss out on this fantastic bbq joint.

We just moved from Dallas. Their sliced brisket is pretty dang good. Not Texas amazing, but well beyond just serviceable. The cole slaw is good. The Mac and cheese isn't cheesy, but it is good. More like a casserole, but a good one. We also had pulled pork. It was ok. Go with the brisket. And the free popcorn.

Not only the best BBQ in the state, but probably the best in the nation! It's not easy to come up with good BBQ in a restaurant setting. The cost of goods and the ridiculous time that it takes to prepare put a lot of pressure on quality and margins. The Prized Pig does it right, and I'm convinced that there isn't a better place to get BBQ anywhere; not even in your own backyard.

We stopped on Saturday and I had the burnt ends. Little squares of deliciousness. Especially when paired with Carolina sauce. I'm usually not a fan of vinegar, mustard sauce but this cuts through the fattiness of the meat in a delicious way. Comes with 2 sides. I had coleslaw (creamy with a bit of BBQ rub ) and a fresh, creamy potato salad. Just wonderful! The meals also include a sweet cornbread which Breaks up all the spice and savory. Owner is just as nice and helpful as ever.

Prized Pig is best place around to get BBQ. The pulled pork is awesome. The brisket is amazing (although at times overly fatty).Love the carolina mustard sauce and i wasn't even a mustard based bbq fan before trying! Tried the jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon for the first time and those were also good. So happy to see a good quality and decent priced bbq joint in our area.

Excellent!! The BBQ is out of this world, sides are delicious, and the cornbread is simply scrumptious! I'm glad we live near enough to revisit from time to time!

After reading about the Prized Pig we decided to give it a try...and are glad we did!! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious, including the brisket, chicken, cornbread, cole slaw, potato salad, pickles and mac n cheese. The three type of BBQ sauces are excellent accompaniments to the food. Not only is the food amazing, but the owner and employees are very friendly and inviting. I cannot say enough great things about this place! A must try!!

Amazing!! We drove up from Granger last night to try this place and it was so yummy. They were sold out of all meats except their rib tips. We had two of their last orders for the day and they were delicious. Tender meat with some of the crispy carmelized outside edges.. nice flavor even without sauce. They had three options on the table for BBQ sauce and lots of absorbent napkins and wet wipes. The platter meal is served on a tray with a waxy sheet of brown paper. Generous portion of rib tips, two slices of their homemade pickles, nice size cornbread square (best that I have EVER had and my 9 year olds favorite part of the meal besides the delicious BBQ), and two sides.. again, generous portions. We tried one of each main side dish.. baked beans are full of flavor with a little kick (my favorite side), mac & cheese (great choice for kids.. and addictive), cole slaw, and potato salad. All seem homemade and they were all good. The cole slaw wasn't my personal favorite but I like KFC cole slaw so I don't have a refined palette. I think most people would love this coleslaw. Also they let you get your own drinks from the drink station.. always nice. Their unsweetened house brewed ice tea was perfect. They also have sweet tea. It looks like people love to order for take out too. Call if it is later in the day.. they close early when they sell out of meats. We found out at the end that the owner was sitting near us with his family.. very nice people. I love supporting local businesses.. they make it easy with such delicious food. We will be back to try more BBQ soon.

Was lucky enough to get there before they were out of ribs. So moist and tender. I had to have eaten my half rack in a minute. The cornbread was delicious, and my coleslaw was so crisp and flavorful. But the mac and cheese was by far the best mac and cheese I've ever had. Was incredibly rich. My wife and I left with very full and happy stomachs. Can't wait to go back!

Nothing great. Theme here is get there before "sold out" of items. Cornbread and Mac. And cheese were good. Ribs and brisket needed more smoke flavor and salt. Cole slaw fresh but too vinegary. BBQ sauces so so. I like famous Dave's much better and smokier.

This place is kind of off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The beef brisket is amazing and the sides are reminiscent of southern home cooking. The ambiance of the place is kind of generic if you want to eat in but it was clean and well kept. The way the food was served on paper and in styrofoam containers reminded me of an outdoor barbecue rather than a sit down restaurant.

Having lived in Texas for a number of years I came to love Beef brisket. The Brisket dinners at The Prized Pig were the best I've been able to find north of Memphis,Tennessee. The meat was perfectly done, excellent bark, tender, juice filled and well spiced. The sides were excellent, and the meal was priced to make the meal very affordable. I was told to arrive early as the popularity ensures that they WILL sell out early on some items. The spicy sauce was nothing to fear just full bodied, rich in flavor with just enough of a bite to be interesting.

The beef brisket is the best I have had in the area. The bark is amazing. I would also recommend trying their sausage.

I just may have gone on the wrong day. I saw all the positive reviews, but my experience was anything but positive. I took carry out home for the family. The first problem was that my order was missing two side dishes. I blame myself for not checking everything before leaving. My wife's ribs were so tough, after trying to eat two, she just gave up. Happy Mother's day to her. I felt terrible. The kids rib tips were tough, full of fat, and mostly bone. They couldn't even finish their meals. My pulled pork was the best out of what we had ordered. It was tender, but just tasted bland to me with little smoke flavor. Our baked beans were literally raw. The beans crunched when you ate them. The mac and cheese wasn't too bad. The cornbread was the true winner. Some of the best we ever had. I wanted it to be good, as it is closer than my regular bbq place that I drive to in Cassopolis, Mi for. But in my bbq race, the Prized Pig came in last. I will continue my long drives to Cassopolis for the best bbq In this area (in my own humble opinion. ) I wish the Prized Pig the best of luck.
