Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

I've LOVED pizza transit pizza for as long as I can remember. I used to save my allowance money to order pizza from there when my parents would go out at night and I didn't want to eat what they had left for dinner! I think their's was the first phone number I memorized. There isn't another pizza establishment around that even compares. Fresh, high quality ingredients, friendly staff, a pizza that is always perfectly cooked and arrives to you steaming hot, if it's to your table in the restaurant or your door. If you haven't tried Pizza Transit, what are you waiting for? If you have, you know what I'm saying is the truth.

I'd say this is the best pizza in Michiana. I've got both sides of my family who have been in the pizza business their entire lives so I grew up around pizza, and Pizza Transit pizza reminds me of my childhood. The fresh handmade dough is amazing, and they don't skimp on the toppings. I hate nothing more than pizza places that don't load up on the toppings. I mean you're paying for them, so they better be on the pie! Oh, and the buffalo cheesesticks are fantastic. With a good pizza I love buffalo wings and cheese bread, but often ordering all three is just too much. Pizza Transit has solved the problem by combining buffalo spice with cheese bread so that it's all in one tasty bite.

Oh wow! This place is fantastic. We tried going there last Sunday but they didn't open till 4pm. We went yesterday. Fairly small restuarant but very clean and nice atmosphere. They have thin, regular and thick crust. We got the regular, but I didn't see much differance between the thin & thick. We ordered Italian sausage, black olive and fresh mushrooms. We got the x-large. It was out of this world. Really good. Only $17. We will definitely be back.

This is TRULY at least ONE of the best pizza restaurants I've ever enjoyed anywhere. Truly FRESH ingredients and wonderfully imaginative recipes! Sure all the standards are there with the HIGHEST quality; pepperoni, mushroom, cheese, etc. Take for granted that those will rock you, but when you're ready to do something different with your mouth, try Hummus pizza with green onion, fresh garlic and feta. Or a baked potato pizza with (or without) bacon, onions, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and sour cream. Rubin pizza. Philly-cheesesteak pizza. Things-you-never-imagined pizza. Sarah B inherited the business from her dad 25 years into it's existence. Each and every day since she's created new culinary Joy in that kitchen. She dreams pizza in her sleep, and those dreams will awaken your mouth from the boredom of corporate culinary CRAP. Pizza Transit will MOVE you!

I came to Niles on a trip back home -- and until fairly recently, I never thought much of the dining choices here. A friend suggested we try Pizza Transit. I'd never had Pizza Transit in its old location, and I was a little skeptical. But I'm glad we came (and supported a downtown restaurant.) The service was quite attentive, the pizza came out fast, and it was delicious. I didn't get anything fancy, though I'm told they have specials. Just mushroom and pepperoni. Ingredients were fresh and the crust was good. Don't mind recommending this to other people, for sure. Down-home type atmosphere, but that's good when you're talking Niles.

We drove up to Niles from South Bend for the Hunter Ice Festival and stopped in Pizza Transit for a late lunch. They had been on our list to try for quite awhile simply based on all the great pizza pictures they post on their Facebook page. They offer some unique combinations as well as a pizza of the month. We started with the cheesy breadsticks with their homemade marinara sauce. We could have easily eaten the entire order and had to force ourselves to stop and wait for our pizza to arrive. The breadsticks were cheesy, garlicky and baked perfectly. The marinara sauce was perfectly balanced and obviously homemade. My husband and I split a two topping pizza since they were offering a special. The toppings were fresh and once again it was baked perfectly - we like our pizza a little well done and they did not disappoint. The crust was crisp and the cheese nicely browned. The crust was thicker than we typically like, but very flavorful. We can't wait to try their wheat crust. We recommend checking out this locally owned pizza place in downtown Niles. Although we did miss out on being able to have a beer with our pizza (no alcohol here).

Pizza Transit is the best pizza in the Michiana area by far!!! The crust on their pizza is the best tasting crust I have had in a long time! They have a lot of unique combinations of pizza and they are all great! Each month there is a pizza of the month and they are each unique and amazing in their own way! If you are ever in Niles you must get pizza from Pizza Transit. You won't regret the decision!

Stopped in with some friends after a soccer game. Had some cheese sticks and the gyro pizza. Both were excellent! Would consider the 50 minute drive back to Niles just for this pizza! Only 1 thing would make it better...a cold beer!

I have been making an extra effort to try new restaurants lately- I was VERY disappointed today! There is little reason to go to downtown Niles, MI, but I drove out of my way to try Pizza Transit. I've heard it was good from a couple people, so I went there for dinner today. It's a large place in an old building with 20 foot ceilings. They have the most chaotic, mess of "decorations" tacked (as in "tacky") on every wall. Imagine a recycling truck filled with paper and bad art exploded inside and you have a good sense of the "décor". Also, they have a boom-box playing music that sounds as if one of the channels is not working. So you hear Gene Simmons of KISS singing acapella with only a bass drum accompaniment- irritating. I ordered the Meatball Sub ("sammich" for you regular readers) and I asked if it came with chips or anything. The waitress said " The sandwiches come with chips at lunch (and a lower price I'll wager) but not at dinner". She told me I could PAY EXTRA and get a bag of chips. I got the chips. I asked for extra sauce, since that is from where most of the flavor of a meatball sammich emanates, I likes me extra sauce. After 15 to 20 minutes my sammich was delivered. I opened it up and the meatballs were not even covered with sauce. It certainly was not even ADEQUATE sauce let alone EXTRA! I asked the waitress for some on the side and she cheerfully brought more sauce. I put some on the sammich, bit in, and the sauce she brought was cold, not refrigerator cold, but cooler than room temperature. The meatballs were small, little, dried-up looking things with NO flavor. They certainly TASTED like frozen, delivered from a vendor, factory-made meatballs. Maybe the owner can verify this. The sauce tasted straight out of a can, a CHEAP can! The mozzarella cheese was rubbery and flavorless. When the waitress returned a couple minutes later and asked "How is everything tasting?", I couldn't restrain my disdain, I said "It's nothing special." Normally, if the waitress is nice and trying her best I don't say anything negative to her, even concerning the taste of the food, over which she probably has no control. But I was SO DISAPOINTED with the food at Pizza Transit I had to tell the truth. The sammich was edible, as in fit for human consumption, but that's the best I can say about it. I didn't finish the whole sammich and left very unsatisfied with my dinner choice- I wish I would have taken the fast lane right past Pizza Transit.

I wish they would advertise more, because people need to know about this place. The pizza reminds me of Noble Romans Pizza if you have ever had that. It is a great hand tossed, airy dough. The twisted breadsticks are a great side, it feels like a cross between a breadstick and pretzel covered with herb butter.

Other than a 3 year stint in Texas, I've spent 25+ years in Niles and I'm embarrassed to say I just had Pizza Transit for the first time a couple weeks ago. My wife and I were looking for dinner somewhere in town before seeing a movie and thought we'd give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. We started with the buffalo cheesy bread. It was delicious! Just enough buffalo sauce to get great flavor but not so much that it blows out your pallet. I would have preferred more sauce but it was perfect for my wife. Next, my wife had the turkey sandwich (on bread they make in-house!). Really good bread took this simple sandwich and made it something great. I had a medium The Ultimate pizza. It was very good as well. Fresh ingredients made this a great pizza. I love when I can actually taste each topping. The best part was I could only eat a couple slices and had it for two more meals! All in all, we had a great first experience here. We actually have plans to meet friends there for dinner later this week!

This place has been in town for many years, however I had not tried it until two years ago. It is now it's our go to place for pizza. Always a pleasure. No need to order extra cheese :)

Here's a quick rating-- The handmade pizzas and calzones can't be beat. Fresh ingredients, sometimes seasonal, and dough are used, and they're baked on premises while you wait. The hot sub sandwiches we've tried however don't seem to be their best product. They need to work on the type of buns used, and maybe flavoring the sandwiches somehow-- I would avoid those until they get a better handle on things. Definitely not a good representative of their pizza making skills. The business is apparently family-owned, and the customer-service skills of the current generation could use some tweaking. I'm sure they encounter their share of disatisfied or picky customers, but it's how they handle these issues that will define them to the community. Restaurants crash and burn all the time. Keeping people happy, within reason, should be paramount. Their prices are not bad, nor is the wait. Try it for yourself--they are now located in downtown Niles.

Earned best pizza in Michiana for 2011 and for good reason. Fresh and sometimes local ingredients (The asparagus in their seasonal asparagus pie for instance) and a crust that has been perfected in their 25 years of doing business. A great locally owned business. Most of the time the owner is the one actually making your pizza! Highly recommended.

We're fairly new to the area and we still haven't found that "great, gotta have it" pizza place yet. Although we would be drawn back to Pizza Transit when pizza was on our menu. Honestly we've experienced good, but also not so good pizza from them. It was the good that kept us "trying" them. Although our last experience resulted in a no return policy to them. Order our pizza for pick-up, upon arriving at home, found 1/2 of it burnt. In calling management, they were very defensive and not willing to make this customer happy. In summary, make sure your pizza isn't burnt and customer service was below expected standards.
