Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cafe offerings... all amazing. The cakes are pricey, but SO worth it for special occasions. Over the years, we've had nothing be excellent experiences with Ryke's.

I've had their delicious, wafer-thin butter cookies for years, but never visited the bakery itself. What was I missing?! Incredible selection of bakery items. The most incredible-tasting Bavarian creme donuts I have ever had, not to mention pecan rolls, apple fritters, sourdough donuts and tasty coffee. This will be a MUST visit on my trips to Muskegon.

Best doughnuts, beautiful cakes. Get lunch there. Please. Do me the personal favor so they don't ever stop. They fill their chili dogs, with top quality dogs. Nice hot ground beef, plus anything your little heart could desire. Served piping hot. :) BEST PART: It's all wrapped in a tortilla shell. WHY HASN'T EVERY SINGLE CHILI DOG PLACE THOUGHT OF THIS?!?!?!??? The doughnuts are great, and buyers will often come and get dozens. The texas doughnut is amazing BTW. *bragging time* ate a whole texas in one sitting. Your move Ryke's. *REGULARS BEWARE* there's one employee that works on weekend mornings, that will try to give you a massive box for 12-18 doughnuts, get the small one and layer the doughnuts by separating with tissue paper, when you can fit out the door, you may silently thank me. Can't speak to the cakes, other than gosh, they're fun to look at...

Great place for wedding cakes and cupcakes - a Muskegon "legend". I was married a year ago and I had Rykes do my cupcakes and a small cake. Amazing, as usual! When my husband went to order a one year anniversary cake - and drive one hour (one way) to get it - they looked up the previous cake flavors/frosting for him. They also have great hot dogs and burritos. Go for their food, bakery items and service. Atmposhere and Location not so great.

Ryke's makes probably THE best pastries and cakes that I have had the pleasure to enjoy. Rykes has a smoothness, texture and taste-bud satisfying flavor all its' own. The ladies there are helpful, friendly, and knowledgable of all things tasty at Ryke's. Definitely worth your time and money.

If you need a cake in West Michigan this is your place - a Muskegon tradition. Excellent marble cake, butter cream, and amazing butter cookies. I've had many Ryke's cakes, and even custom ordered a few (including a Rubik's Cube cake of my own design), and they have always been crowd pleasers.

Amazing. Years of memories from having a Rikes cake for special events. I really miss places like this in Chicago. Christmas 2008 featured a Rike's Marble Layer Cake. Mmmmmm! One of the truly Muskegon things you can show an out of towner.

My sister told me about how she had a cupcake from a wedding that she went to and requested that I get her birthday cake from here as well. I did order it from here and the person I spoke with was super helpful and patient as I was somewhat indecisive on what to order. We went with a pina colada type of cake that had a pineapple and lemon filling with buttercream frosting. The pink and green scroll design was beautiful and the cake was delicious! My sister was super happy with it, and the pricing was just right. Oh my sister also picked up some chocolate chocolate chip cookies that were SOOO good here! I'm sure that you'll walk out of here with more than you intend.

Best cake Ever. Hands down. Donuts are delicious and the gourmet cupcakes are so creative and cute. All of the cafe items and salads are delish, especially the Limited-time-only, Friday special, Jamaican jerk burrito.

Every once in a great while, you come across menu items so mind-blowing that it takes the better part of a day to reconcile the new information with your existing worldview. The Baja Bad Dog at Ryke's did exactly this. It's a hot dog (with a bun) - wrapped in a tortilla - filled with beans cheese and salsa. I thought I had experienced eating a hot dog - if you can even call this a hot dog - every which way there was. I thought I'd dressed a dog up and down with all of the fixin's that anyone had ever considered. The good folks at Ryke's have proved me wrong, and I couldn't be happier. Somebody over there deserves a medal. On top of that, the coffee is hot and fresh, the apple tarts are perfectly flaky, and the butter cream is not too buttery or heavy, it really does ride the line of perfection. Top that all off with the friendly and prompt service I received and you can understand why Ryke's has earned my 5 stars and repeat business. I will be back. And I'll be getting the Junkyard Dog next time. See you soon, Ryke's!

My girlfriend and I did not visit Ryke's Bakery, but did have their cake in a buffet setting at the Frauenthal Theatre, in Muskegon, Michigan, on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing was served. The cake and icing were excellent. I would highly recommend Ryke's Bakery to anyone in the Muskegon area!

I go to Ryke's every time I'm in the Muskegon area and have been going since I was a little kid. My family always buys a cake and their amazing long johns, regardless of whether it's a special occasion or not! The texture and taste of their cakes and cupcakes is unmatched by any bakery I've ever been to (I am a huge cake and cupcake fan and I live in an area with a lot of bakeries...) and their frosting is absolutely amazing. I can't say enough good things about Ryke's. It is probably a good thing that I don't live in Muskegon because I would be about three hundred pounds heavier. I hope Ryke's stays open forever!!!

I recently returned to Ryke's, and to my delight, the whole coffee problem seems to be solved. The self-serve coffee selection has been moved up to the front, and all canisters were full. While we were drinking our coffee, an employee came by the table and made sure everything was ok, and told us that we were welcome to a refill on the coffees. The donuts were delicious as always. Hooray! Bakery and cafe success!

I eat at Rykes once per week for lunch .I love there burritos. My family gets a Rykes cake for almost every birthday party. There is no better cake than Ryke's

This is the best bakery in the Muskegon Area. I have been a fan of Ryke's Bakery my whole life. It has changed hands a few times and the quality dipped a little but these new owners have redeemed the name. I have never had a better cake. The frosting & filling are so yummy and the cake always moist. No one has been able to duplicate their famous thin butter cookies. They are more addictive than potato chips!

I ordered my wedding cake & pies from here on recommendation of a friend in Holland. Renee (who does the custom orders) was fabulous. She's understanding, creative, and she sticks to the design that she drew up for you. I bake & decorate cakes, it's one of my favorite things to do, and I was extremely happy with the flavor, texture and design of the cake. Everyone raved about it. I added the flowers myself, but Renee did offer their hand at that as well. I'm sure they would have done a great job, but I'm a bit of a control freak. The pies were also delicious. I requested that they make the pies look homemade. They put little cherry leaf cut outs all around the pie crust for the cherry pie, and made the apple pie, lattice top. They were great. I can't say enough good things. Go with Rykes!

Planning a group trip to Muskegon, I consulted the trusty Yelp! for help in feeding my people a light breakfast. I was encouraged by what I read about Ryke's, so I gave them a call. The business owner was extremely helpful and accommodating and even struck up a conversation, so I felt excited that this would be a personal food experience. From amazing donuts to terrific pastries, to the pineapple orange muffin to which I indulged and still taste, the treats were phenomenal. Topped with excellent coffee, the folks with which I traveled remarked that if they lived in Muskegon, they would be at Ryke's every day. The owner also personally greeted me, continuing our conversation from the initial phone call. I was pleased to let her know that if I was ever in the area again, I'd definitely be by again. I'm sure the other members of my group feel the same. Arriving back in Northville, more than one person reported that their selection had achieved "best of" status. Does a compliment get better than that?
