We dined there on May 5, 2011. The food was edible. The chicken sandwich was okay. It was nothing special. Waitstaff seemed attentive and helpful. The decor was tacky and kitsch, dinning area could use a makeover. Bathrooms were disgusting, but then again we don't eat in the there! Truth be told, the building and the menu probably need a serious makeover. I would eat there again, only because of a lack of other choices in the area.

First of all the sign and name is very misleading. They really could use a make over of the building which is old and not Australian at all, as it claims on the sign. But it still offers decent food. Their fish is quite tasty and I have had it twice now. Was there once for a buffett and they had trouble keeping the fish on thebuffett and it took them a long time to bring more out so you found yourself waiting to get more. The second time I ate there they didnt have the buffett but instead all you care to eat perch and whitefish and both were excellent. I have not ate anything else there, however, it was very busy both Saturdays I drove by so perhaps they have a good Saturday special. the Fridays were not that busy but the food was good.

Don't do it. We stayed in Munising at the Holiday Inn Express overnight on our way to the Keweenaw and we were doing the Pictured Rocks Cruise the next morning. Desk clerk at the hotel suggested Sidney's. We arrived, were able to pick a table and sit where we wanted. First off? the chair were like little Bistro chairs (not comfortable)..not that we needed bigger chairs but they just felt awkward. Waitress was nice enough...brought us menus and asked us if we wanted a drink. My husband was happy that they had Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald beer....I ordered a diet pepsi that that was flat and all syrup.....she tried to find me a new tap to get a soda from but well, it was bad. Waitress came along to take our order. I politely asked if they fried their non seafood food (apps, fries, onion rings) in the same oil that fish/shell fish is fried and was told that they do. As someone with a seafood/shellfish allergy I am continually amazed at the amount of restaurants who use this practice and do not disclose it.....it might save them money but it is a GREAT health risk to customers with food allergies. My husband ordered the whitefish and fries.... I ordered the Chef Salad with only turkey no ham...and what I received was a Garden salad on a side salad plate...with NO meat...and a microwaveable dinner roll (sorry...but when you microwave a dinner roll...and as it cools? it becomes like rubber)...I tried getting her attention to tell her I had received no meat on my salad but she was everywhere but where we needed to see her....I was charged $8.99 for a crappy side salad and microwaved roll... My husband said his fish was fresh but had an odd taste. I suggest a pizza joint or Hardees.....seriously.

Awesome place. Only went to the bar but its old school looking. Nice locals. Next time I'm up there I will be back!

This place seems to think that all food should be fried, in the worst way possible. Likewise it as others have said had a sparse salad bar and a very sparse Alcohol list. There are better places to go for dinner in Munising. While the wait staff is adequate, they really need to look into a different cook, and need to look into better suppliers.

Stopped at this restaurant as recommended by our motel as the best restaurant in munising...service was horrible and the food was not much better! Food was okay but was way overpriced...i had a pasta dish which was $18.99 and could of probably made the same thing at home for $5. Sauce tasted like it came out of a jar, vegetables weren't even cut (just whole baby carrots thrown on the dish) and the seafood was not fresh. My fiance got a fish platter where the fish looked rubbery and not fresh either. Salad bar was okay not a lot of vegetables to choose from. The severs were not attentive or friendly...we never got silverware and basically had to go ask for it ourselves so we could eat our salad. 5 waitresses probably walked by looking at us staring at our food with no way to eat it but did nothing. I got a water but was never asked if i wanted another drink or a refill and my fiance got a beer but when he asked for a water he never got one until we got our check. They seemed really busy running around everywhere but didn't seem to be that packed...we went at 9:30 pm! Very unhappy with the service we received....i guess you have to be a local to have a good dining experience at this place!

Went to dinner here based on the reviews and was very disappointed. I wanted the perch, which they were out of, so had the whitefish instead. I thought that it was very salty, even overpowering the tartar sauce. Salad bar was unappetizing with very few vegetable choices. The wine list was sparse with just a few house wines. Service was ok. I guess that this the UP, but come on, there need to be better restaurants.
