Lipka’s Drug Store

As I understand it, the fate of Lipka's Soda Fountain may be up to the fates, so I write this review in the hopes that it is not too late to generate some noise in favor of this true White Lake area fixture. I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Mr. Lipka, who was always a friendly man, good to his customers and a heck of a guy. He will be missed. I think every fond memory I have of Montague stems from Lipka's: their sodas are, I can tell you, REAL sodas - sweet, flavorful, with a massive selection of flavors which can just as easily be made into mouth-watering malts or shakes! Combined with its authentic, one-of-a-kind early Americana architecture and wide selections of candies and collectibles, entering Lipka's is truly like stepping back in time. I love Lipka's wholeheartedly. It is a cherished part of my childhood that, the gods be willing, I will take my own children to someday.
We love Lipka's Soda shop. Old fashion soda fountain. Cheap. Good ice cream and sandwiches.
Lipka's was a real pharmacy once, but now is just a well preserved old fashioned soda fountain(cira 1940). In the back is a wonderful sandwich shop. This place is like Mayberry only better. Kids come in for sodas, adults come in for food and the mix is sweet old small town America.

This is a small takeout s window right next to the grocery store and a few tables to sit around. This place has a good variety of flavors and frozen choices (soft serve, ice cream, flurries, flavor bursts, sundaes and specialty sundaes). Portions seemed big, the small cone had 3 scoops. Flavors range from standard to a few unique ones like cherry chocolate fudge and orange-pineapple.

There's not a lot of variety in the Whitehall/Montague area when it comes to dining. You have your pizza places, bars and fast food, of course, but the Old Channel Inn is a little different than the chains and dives. First off, it is situated in a cottage by Lake Michigan and is decorated with quaint duck art and decor. It really feels like a summer cottage, which is the perfect vibe for such a place. The bar is well stocked and bartenders are generous with their pours. Although I do not partake, my father is fond of their Bloody Marys and Long Island Iced Teas. The weekend salad bar is also very good for a small establishment. They offer a variety of fresh veggies, cheeses and dressings to make your own salad, as well as a selection of prepared salads as well. I am fond of their potato salad because it tastes very fresh, smooth and rich every time I have it. The best thing on the menu according to fish fans, is the lake perch. The breading is thin and crispy and it is always piping hot. I am not as much of a fish person, but I always enjoy their Old Channel Inn burger which is well prepared and served with tasty green olives for a nice, briny contrast to the traditional burger. They often have a special vegetable of the day, which was recently a quite satisfactory corn bake. They also always have mashed potatoes which are redskin mashed and well seasoned. Overall, the OCI is a nice place to bring out-of-town visitors for the proximity to the beach, the quality food and the nice bar selection.
YES! Of the limited places to eat in the area, this is it. My husband and I came to eat here on a Saturday night and LOVED the all you can eat salad bar. The dining area is cozy and homey, I cant even begin to tell you how comfortable it is. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. This is definitely the place to go when you're in the area. Love it.
What a super cool old beach cottage vibe! I have been there 3 times but my family has been making the 45 min drive from muskegon for years and years. 1. The best way to enjoy this place is to go at around 2pm on a hot summer day, take the convertable if you can, as it is a fun drive out to the beach. 2. Find a parking spot, go into the bar and grab 4-5 beers to-go. Tell them you will be back for dinner. 3. Take your beers and your towels out to the beach 200 ft. from the restaurant. Enjoy the beach until 5pm. 4. Come back for dinner, order a pain killer, they make them the best! It is a delightful fruity rum drink topped with nutmeg. For dinner I know the pearch, burgers, and the London broil are both good, however I hear mixed reviews about the other dishes. Swimsuits are fine for dining!

The chicken tacos are some of the best I've ever had! I work in Whitehall and we order them 2 to 3 times a week
Best fish in town! Such a great vibe outside and in! The service was on point, never had to ask for a thing. I will be back!
The food was good but the food took too long. Overall it was a good experience for the good service. I do suggest the wayside whopper if you like 3 different kinds of meat on one burger.

Horrible! I expect to pay a bit more for the experience but the prices here are ridiculous. Since the new owners took over its gone way down hill. 9.25 for 2 chicken tenders and some fries that were limp. 6.50 for 6 chicken nuggets and a milk! Please for the love of God don't go here.
The only reason I give it above one star is because they have excellent corn dogs and Chicago dogs. The manager on duty was a complete ass to us. The customer service is one aspect they fail miserably at here.
Go coney dog or go home! I love the coney dogs here. The only thing that could improve the coney dog is two coney dogs. I guess the root beer float would improve it is as well and they are tasty too.
