What a great establishment! Up almost as far as you can go in Michigan and you find this cozy restaurant/bar. It's a north woods style place with a convenience store on one side and a restaurant on the other, so it's a great little mashup. Upon entering you could tell it was a local place, although I'm sure it's packed with gapers during the winter. The service was genuinely welcoming and cheerful. The menu is concise, but creative. The chili is award-winning for a reason. It certainly ranks as one of the best I've ever had. My girlfriend got a hamburger cheese soup and we split the Reuben rolls. Holy bible batman those both were outstanding! Good beer on tap, cozy feel, delicious food, and outstanding staff. I couldn't have been more pleased!
Cool place , great food and beer. Good kids menu , on the lake , friendly staff and great service .
Finally got in here for lunch and was quite impressed. I had a pesto chicken wrap and it was very good! The service received was above par and our waitress was very efficient and friendly. Will be back!
I stopped in for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the food. While Slim's doesn't have the look of a fantastic American diner on the outside (or inside for that matter) you wouldn't know it with one taste of the food. I had the short stack of blueberry pancakes with bacon and it was incredible. The pancakes were cooked perfectly and had that made-from-scratch tasted you can't get with pre-made mix. The blueberries were sweet and juicy and were the perfect amount for the size of the pancake. The bacon was great too. All and all, Slim's was a great choice for breakfast.
I think this is the only breakfast place north of Calumet. Classic diner vibe. They only serve breakfast until 11 though. We got here just before noon, so we ended up having lunch. The burger was your standard, run-of-the-mill burger. They were happy to put whatever toppings I wanted on it, which was nice.
Slims use to be a great place to eat. However their prices are very high. The quality of the food that you get now is fair. Could be better.
Beautiful sunsets because the restaurant is located on the shores of Lake Superior. Best to call for Th, Fri, Sat dinner reservations as they only set about 50. Good service. Excellent selection of Whiskey and craft beers. Cooper Harbor area is incredibly beautiful.
This cozy little bar and grill is worth a stop for lunch if you're taking the scenic route from Houghton to Copper Harbor. There's a main dining area to the left when you walk in, or you can hang out at the bar to the back right. Some of the tables in the bar area are decorated with maps of Lake Superior that you can study while you're waiting for your food. For a taste of the Great Lakes, try the grilled trout sandwich with sweet potato fries. The trout was fresh, moist, nicely charred and served with some green leaf lettuce. Don't even think of dousing it with the tartar sauce that's served on the side - this sandwich has plenty of flavor to stand on its own. The sweet potato fries, like the trout, were perfectly done - nice and crispy, but not dried out. If fish is not your fancy, the menu also had several burgers that looked tempting. The bar has several beers from the local Keewenaw Brewing Company - "KBC" on the beer menu. They're all canned - so if you're a bottle snob, you might want to try something else. My favorite was the November Gale Pale Ale. The Old Ore Dock Scotch Ale was okay. There are several other varieties if you want to try one of the local favorites.
Nice place along 26 to stop for lunch. The pie was great. The salmon was wonderful. The staff was hospitable. I would recommend this place.
